14 pointsIt was suggested we come down with some not so hard fast rules when it comes to aquiring these fine tractors. Feel free to add some as they hit you.... 1 You can never have too many 2 Divorce court is not a legitmate reason for selling 3 Divorce court is a legitmate reason for buying. 4 Parts tractors and non runners may not be considered part of the herd. 5 Runners with plug wires misplaced are considered non runners as far as SWMBO is concerned and may not be counted as part of the herd. 6 100 dollar max price for aquiring non runners may be waived if parts worth excceeds 101 clams. 7 Bucket list tractors running or non running shall not have a max $$ limit. 8 If she don't know it about it cannot be counted as part of the herd. 9 If you have an understanding wife and she gets your problem.... buy more . 10 Pawning wedding rings or family heirlooms to buy more tractors is acceptable. 11 Keeping tractors hidden at other locations other than your residence is acceptable. 12 Lawn art shall not be considered part of the herd. 13 Dibs tractors shall be honored to all members in good standing provided they are not in divorce court. See rules 2 and 3. 14 Repowers are acceptable as long as they run and drive. 15 Customs and restos are acceptable and encouraged as long as they meet the following. At least one nut, bolt, bracket or other original acoutrement is clearly visible. Said nut bolt or acoutrement may not be repainted. HEY... MN boys made this one up!

10 pointsCountry Borders are no acceptable restrictions to get you a Horse.

9 pointsLusting over another man's tractor is acceptable, even when you know it will never be yours
-
9 pointsIf looking for a part to upgrade an existing tractor, it is acceptable to purchase another complete tractor with the correct part, thereby allowing the "hunt" to continue for another correct part to upgrade the original tractor

9 pointsAnother rule for the married collector is that its often easier to get forgiveness rather than permission! Oh and also never under any circumstances line the whole herd up in one line!!!

8 pointsIt warmed up enough to squeeze in my last motorcycle ride with my dad for this season. Put on just under 115 miles. Had a nice lunch at a non-chain restaurant called the Vanilla Bean. Great sandwiches Bike is now tucked away in my basement till spring

8 pointsFirst coat of rustoleum "hammered" paint applied to the wheel weights. Another coat today then will install this weekend. I really like the finish this paint gives.

8 pointsThe Ten Commandments have been hereby amended to accommodate reasonable Wheel Horse ownership: 1. Wheel Horses are the lord of all tractors, you shall not own any others. 2. You shall not own a tractor of any other name, unless in vain. 3. Keep holy all days so you get more Wheel Horse seat time. 4. Honor the Ponds 5. You shall not kill someone for their Wheel Horses, but you may mutually arrange for the herd to come your way in their will upon a long, wonderful life and a timely natural death. 6. Though shalt not view spending more time with your Wheel Horses than your wife as committing adultery 7. You shall not steal a Wheel Horse, unless it is on Craigslist and you pay at least $1. 8. You shall not bear false witness against another member of the community. 9. You absolutely shall covet your neighbor’s Wheel Horse. 10. Ditto

7 pointsMinimum Ball and Chain allowable LOW limit shall be 1 tractor per implement or 1 implement per tractor, whichever is more beneficial to the collector. Legal allowable upper limit shall be increased by acquiring implements whether duplicates or not.

7 pointsThankyou, Dan aka @Achto. Actually, THANK YOU ALL. I will just say that we are at least talking/being civil. There are...I will still have to...make some decisions, soon...but at least it seems possible to resolve, or get somewhere through all this. Today was the 1st normal day where I felt kinda normal. I did things. Yes, WH things. Even managed to make a pretty decent supper, and actually eat...small steps. Ik im not out of the woods. But I am trying, n hope to continue to. Thank you all for letting me be a part of your group. I feel Blessed often that you have me. I know I am, Always. Thankyou. ❤

6 pointsWell, she is only half way home. the funny thing about this one is she went unnoticed for a month or so with no takers. I did not find a tag on it except a tower patch c-160 and side generic WHEELHORSE decals. She is barn kept 8 speed, no big leaks no rusty paint , and we tested the beast and it cranked and had compression. the owner had it at his dad's because Dad did not want a zero turn. Just one of those things where the guy could not figure out why she won't start.and dropped the price when it did not sell, It has a RD42 completely rust free . I am leaning toward a clutch safety start circuit since i found a broken wire. My buddy and i hauled it only part way home as he was busy, so we will seemore tomorrow. i have been waiting forever for one like this. i thought that this year was a complete bust for finding tractors, but some nice ones found me.

6 pointsSeasonal Change today. Had some of the horses out and moved to their winter spots. Gave them some pumpkin spiced fuel additive First pics are of the three Charger/Electro 16s. They are great tractors limited slip, high speed and simple wiring. Have to look hard at the distance shots but you can see other horses waiting to go into the barn and the shed.

6 pointsNo actually it's a cab off of a snapper 1655 it's actually a pretty cool looking little tractor , and it's the same width as the Wheel horse gt14 pretty rare to find a cab with a snapper but I made it work

6 points* the storage of a tractor and parts for a friend does not count to the herd * At any given time yard art tractors can be rotated, restored, parts interchanged, these numbers will not count as long as the number of yard art tractor remain * It is customary that any given night out with the family at restaurant the as the bill is being paid, in a voice loud enough for other tables to hear, " I had some extra money in the tractor fund" * Inherited or given tractors from the wife's side count toward her numbers * It is to be noted that going to any tractor show or swap meet with any empty truck, it is to assumed something will be in it upon return *Tractors stored in the basement shall not be used as clothes rack, like the exercise bike parked next to it

5 pointsThe twenty is fine with a slug for deer. Just know poi at different ranges. If it has a ventilated rib get some of the adjustable sights for the rib and replacement fiber optic front sight and you should love it,usually less than $30.00 for the set. By the way I have 00 and #4 buck for home defense, they are for short range. I shot a buck at 20 yards a few years back and tracked him and never found him. Have a great season and I am now headed out for a little muzzle loading deer hunting with my T/C Renegade!

5 points12 or 20 gauge with slugs Kevin snd save the buckshot for home security. The Mossberg is a good gun (I’m a Remington fan) but just to rattley for me . As for your barrel why not upgrade to a rifled barrel. You can get them with open sights or with a cantilever scope mount . Sure the saboted slugs cost way more but your accuracy goes way up . With my 870 with a 24” fully rifle with scope (it’s a mossberg made for the 870) I could hold a 5-6” group at 100yrds using 3” Winchester hunter supreme sabot slug . With this setup I shot a buck at 184yrds ( I was holding my crosshairs well above its back) with a witness. You just need practice and know what your bullet climb and fall is . With my slugs 25yrds is the same at 100 but in between the slug acutely rises 3” or so . After 100yrds the bullet drops off pretty quickly. On your slug packaging there should be a ballistic graph to show you what the bullet rise and fall should be at different yardages .

5 pointsBest not let @c-series don see that one! I'll amend Line ups are encouraged but are mandatory. In the presence of SWMBO is is acceptable and encouraged to give her a fiver and tell her to go have fun with the girls. Number one, two, three etc sons/daughters are encouraged to participate in said line ups as protection from flying objects in the event a Lincoln was not enough and she returned early.

5 pointsIf she says “whatever, get it if it’s what you want” she really means I’m not letting you touch me when you finally crawl into bed. But she still said “get it”.
-
5 pointsMid Pack nailed It! In the interest of avoiding injury due to swapping attachments it is acceptable and preferred to have a tractor for every implement.

4 pointsHi folks. Been browsing the forums for a while. I have two Horses - a '68 Charger that I've been using since I was around 8 (about 43 years ...), and a 520H I recently bought and am fixing up. I'm a big WH fan - they were solidly built, easy to work on, and last forever. I even worked for a Wheel Horse dealership for about 12 years, starting when I was a teen. When the 520s came out and we assembled them in the shop, I wanted one in the worst way for my landscaping side gig, but couldn't afford one. It's neat to work on it again so many years later. But before anyone asks, I have no inside info or tips - as a coworker used to say, I slept since then and forgot most of what I knew! At some point, I'll post pics. Just wanted to say hi, and say thanks for all the useful information I've been finding here.

4 pointsTape measures . With me it's tape measures. We have two workshops at home and I really do try to keep each one of them sort of stocked with stuff I might need. Wrenches, sockets, pliers, screwdrivers, stuff like that. But I could have 37 tape measures and I'm telling you right here and now I would need 38, or more.

4 pointsMy first deer gun my dad bought me was a 20 ga. Ithaca pump action deer slayer with a short barrel slug barrel and open rifle sights. Alot like this one tho not quite as fancy and nowhere's near expensive. https://ithacagun.com/product/deer-slayer-ii/ Bet he didn't pay over 150 for it which was a sum in the early 70s. It doubled as a squirrel and rabbit gun but not much of a pattern as would be expected for a barrel with no choke. To my sadness he sold it but replaced it a few years later with a Winchester Model 94 in 30.30. cal. which I have and still use to harvest to this day. I know he paid $80 for the Winnie circa 1974. Imagine that look what they go for now!! I think he figured the 20 would not be enough in heavier deer woods. Back then rifles were not allowed in many counties here and the land we hunted then was much more open than woods up north. I think with the proper shells and sighting in and practice a 20 would make a fine brush gun or even open land shooting as long as you know the limitations of it's down range knock down power and your own abilities to make a clean kill at a given yardage. Stay with no more than 260 grain slugs. Still a 12 with riffled slugs and a dedicated slug barrel would be preferred. Just for that extra bit of down range. I often say its not the type of gun but the hands of the shootist it's in. I've never been a fan of buckshot in any gauge but don't have a ton of experience with it. If you need ammo best get lookin now Kev lots of shelfs cleared off I been told.

4 pointsUnder another topic, "the international laws of dating". I met my future wife in 2002. On our 1st date I did make it clear that I am a big pain in the a$$. She laughed and thought it was cute. Under this clause I am exempt from all the dumb ideas I have and or junk I drag home
-
4 pointsOkay so that raises another one... The collector shall not be forced to explain his or her actions in purchasing, swapping tractors or implements to those who do not "speak tractor".
-
4 pointsLooks nice! What you gonna use for a heater? I just take a flexible dryer vent and take some of the air off the engine to heat my cabs.
-
4 pointsThou shalt not be limited by need or task to be accomplished by a potential purchase, you can figure that out once it is in your barn.
-
3 pointsDon't know about the foot rests but the FA-58 fenders and toolbox was optional. Likely first available in 1958 as they used 58 in the part number which was the practice at the time. It does show up in the 1958 and 1959 price lists as well as the 1960 sales brochure. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=fa-58&quick=1&type=downloads_file Garry

3 pointsAnd then when you get back to where you originally were, the tool or part you had there is nowhere to be found, and after some serious hunting with no luck and finally giving up looking out of frustration, you return back to where you were first, ans there it is. (Or wife comes in, holds it up and says "is this what you're looking for?". Nope. Never happens
-
3 pointsYup. Yesterday, I made three trips to the basement before I finally brought the pop up that I had originally intended to get on the first trip downstairs.

3 pointsLets not forget "high crimes against the community" and penalties to be imposed. example 1- counting incomplete and/or parts tractors as part of the herd. Any member found to be committing high crimes against the community is subject to a twenty(20) dollar fine, to be removed directly from tractor funds and deposited into spouse's shoe funds. Checks and balances: 'Tractor and spouse shoe' inventory shall remain in balance, or favor tractor inventory. Any member found to have a decreasing tractor inventory shall be investigated and photographs taken as evidence. In the event a member spouse has an excessive/out of balance shoe inventory, evidence photos shall be posted, and violator shall be subject to public ridicule by members in good standing. There is no time limit on public ridicule.
