Just picked up this little time capsule yesterday.. figured some here may appreciate her. Let's take a little trip back in time, to the morning of August 5th, 1926.. and your new Robbins & Myers electric fan has just arrived via rail. You bought it from Wetmore & Savage Electrical Supply, of Boston, MA. (76 Pearl Street, Boston). She cost you $24.50, (Which translates to $372.92 in 2020 dollars.) An electric fan was quite a luxury at the time, even roughly 25 years after the first of them hit the market. You write out a secondary sheet of operators instructions (including to be sure to add vaseline to the transmission and to 'clean the oil cups and wicks with gasoline or kerosene oil yearly'). I'm unclear if the fan was sold to the Portsmouth Yacht Club as new, or the post card just so happened to be handy for storage. For that matter, why the original booklet AND a second set of instructions survived. And why would a outfit in Portsmouth buy it from Boston?? Oh, wait. Simply reference the handbook, and you'll find the only R&M Dealers local were Boston, and the next one was in New York.. so in fact this makes sense. Who knows.. but at a strong 94 years old, (Possibly older?? The handbook says 1923) this one still seems to run quite well.

Picked up my third Wheel horse a nice 877 last night. Mr. Steve Grayson was gracious and let me buy it from him. Needs a the mule Drive, shift adjustment cover, K181 belt cover, brake and parking adjusted. no brakes at moment probably needs new shims and bushings to get rid of play for the forward and reverse. I like it. I also bought a push plow for it . (works on long or short frames). Tomorrow morning I will be picking up my fourth tractor a Wheel Horse 1054.

Begun today with the Rearaxle mount for the Plowframe. get an Angleiron 40x40mm 5mm thick and drilled few Holes in it. i had a Galvanized longer part, that was enough for the both Mainparts, the counterparts are made of same Material but plain Steel. than i checked first time the look of the Frame, yap, fits... i thinkering about the Mount for the Plow, but the old mount must be grinded down, so i decided i will keep it and rework. Than Martl‘s Mom have a stop for a little talking, we had a very nice discussion and suddenly she jumps up an meant - oh, i have to rake the Leafs, Martll will pick it up in an hour and nothing is done.. i offered - be calm, i will do it quick with the Horse. So i‘m able to generate a Seattime on the 656 Horse at 17 deg.C. After that was done, i go back in Shed and continouse my Framework.. because i have started to primer one side. I can touch it, so i primered the whole rest of Frame, Than i drilled the Bolts for the Clips while primer cures. quickpaint, was in half hour touchresistant. - cool that speedup my Worktime. than i do the first Check, if i measured right.. yap, i did well, but i found that i missed the Height of the LED Lights, they be too low mounted, so they have to go up. After a hard discussion with myself, i decided to mount them in the Hood. The Plowframe works as it should and just a minimum Play sidewards, what i accept for the Quickmount. At least i reworked the whole mount and Angle fixing. so a little rework on the Frame must be done but just for the Anglechange.

A Kohler M8s! Probably would have dropped right in the 606 right? Electric start AND it has a 15amp charging circuit... Wouldn't have needed the Predator or the the S/G I stuffed under the hood! The throttle/governor levers were a little bent up so I haven't run it yet though. The only thing I've done is hit it with a shot of starting fluid to make sure it cranks and runs for a couple seconds. So far so good. Drove 2 hours for this $300 package deal. I originally went to get the Kohler twin (future Kawasaki Mule repower) but couldn't pass up these other motors. The twin runs on liquid propane like a forklift so that'll be fun. The blue Kohler looked like what's in the C-121 so I got it as well. Looks like I should be set for motors for a while!

Since I now don’t have to worry about anyone else’s work I have time for the time consuming task of checkering. Great job to clear ones mind and think while at it.

My county opened up early in-person voting at a few locations a few days ago. It's not at our usual polling place. I heard from neighbors and friends about long lines. I usually vote at my tiny town hall on Election Day and have never waited once. "Three booths, no waiting!" I was going to just wait until Tuesday and go to the Town Hall as always. But more and more stories of long wait times, I decided I was going to check the polling place out on Friday. The day of the 1st snow. The first day of non-70 degree weather of the season. It was 34 and snowing. Heavy, wet snow. I waited in line, around 3 sides of the building, for about an hour and then voted. The point, the only point is; the slight hardship really drilled home how important a responsibility voting is, no matter where you live.

Those Tecky 6’s are a force to be reckoned with, huh? I too have not gotten anything WH done... but there’s a set of 27x10-12’s in my shop that are calling my name, along with a Ride Away Senior asking for a start up soon!

Thank you. It’s a specialty plane used for the first step in dressing rough lumber. Essentially a special rabbet plane. For now it’s the flagship of the latest fleet. The others are stippled each a little different. Two more to do. I might just do some basket weaving and fish scaling on the last two @953 nut

Where did YOU find it Spencer? Awesome stuff! Not near as old, but we found this little guy in a storage unit and quite often fire up the heater to take a quick chill out of the room.

Great find.Sure the fan is great but its the provenance associated with it such as the hand written instructions, original packaging with labels that give it a special value and character . It tells the story about its life. Keep it all together for future generations to appreciate.

I have always voted on election day, but with Covid-19, our governor has reduced the number of polling places. Since I could envision long lines on Tuesday, and with both Mrs. M and me having back issues, we early voted on Thursday. Rain and long lines did not deter a consistent outpouring of patriotic folks exercising their Constitutional rights. Everything was smooth. We arrived at 1:15 and left at 2:05. Not bad.

With the number of people doing Absentee Ballots or early voting there probably won't be anyone at the poles on Election Day. I was a volunteer fireman in my hometown (population about 600) and since the fire station was our polling place and the ambulance and a pumper were outside one of us had to be there at closing time. I volunteered to do this and also was a poll worker for the last shift. When it came time to tabulate and certify the results three of us independently added up the tally from all three booths and then we compared our results. None of us were mathematically challenged and we all had the same totals. I don't remember how many Republican, Democrat or Libertarian votes were cast, but there had been one vote cast for the Communist Party and we all spent a great deal of time speculating who would have cast that ballot. In the final analysis we have an ally in Heaven watching over us and we will survive this regardless of the outcome of this election. Romans 13:1 clearly states that: “Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.” 1 Peter 2:13-14 says: “Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right.” So we see that God establishes all governmental leaders in the world,

Why anyone would spend $5,000 plus in 1990 dollars for a Garden tractor and leave it parked outside I do not understand....But they did/do and that is why there are no electrically complex 520's in my future...

From the pics of the other thread, the frame and front axle are not RJ. Tractor is most likely a model 400. The difference for an early 400 would have been the belt guard. Parts for a 400 or 550 will help you complete the tractor if that's the intention. 550 is the same tractor except for engine and some engine components. Tractor was offered for sale as a 1960

I am concerned that all this variable voting times and places will lead to real problems. I guess I am a reactionary, but my opinion is that all voting should be done at the polls on the first Tuesday of November with few exceptions.

953 nut, I wanted to share with you something that was shared with me in a by Terrie Gustafson in one of the wheel horse groups on Facebook that was interesting and wanted to know what you thought of it. He said they trimmed these John deere friction disk down to work on the 953/1054 and epoxy them to the clutch and he said it works great. I just need to find a repairable clutch. You wouldn't happen to have the part numbers for the bearings I would need to rebuild one?

How do you plan to turn it using a steering wheel? That's just one thing I couldn't figure out how he did it without actually working on one. I'm assuming that's the front axle Name ? Yeti

First of all Welcome to Red Square! 2nd you managed with this post to get @WHX24's attention span to last longer than 2 minutes! Yes I do HVACR. Just got off a roof repairing a walk in freezer. (I think Jim works on dorm fridges) Used to be in charge of Absorption, Steam Fired and Natural gas fired chillers. Retiring in 8 weeks. Used to be a Napa guy so I help folks out with part numbers from time to time
