So today I received my first Social Security Pension payment. Its a good thing but it has me feeling a little old.Feeling shouldn't last too long hopefully. Been pondering for a little while to stop doing work so I decided today that it is it. I will no longer look to do any work for others. Thankfully I did not need to do it anyway for a long time since I already collect a very decent pension from the Carpenters Union anyway and do not owe anyone anything.. I do however enjoy my work, so now all work will be dedicated to us here and my children. Going also to concentrate heavily on passing the craft to my grandchildren the oldest one in particular now since he has taken a serious liking and aptitude for it.

Meeha Mirror and Trina BBT and myself are headed once again to the Great North Maine Woods. Can't get enough and don't want to leave when we're there. We'll share pics when we get back in phone range Sunday.

Couple weeks ago I made my own tillering handle for the blade angle and added the linear actuator to raise and lower the blade. Actuator is only a 4" throw. Could use a 6". Its set up to go down 3/4" below grade. Needs to go higher though. That's where the 6" actuator will come in. lever was a pain. I didn't have anything to go off of other than pictures. So it looks quite wonky LOL. . With it all said and done it works really good.

I put the new receiver hitch I built on the 520. Still have to add the bracing down to the hitch. Also installed the Gator blades on the C-120/180 and the vacuum attachment to receiver hitch on it.

I finally got the torn up seat framing fixed up strong on the c-145. Now that i have patterns made, i will cut reinforcing pieces for all my later model tractors. To see more , go to "Repairing a seat mount frame" under Wheel horse tractors for more details

I was able to play with my new grader blade after work today. A friend of mine had some gravel delivered & I offered to smooth it out for him. The challenge. My C141 with a grader blade in action. After several side passes to knock the piles down things are getting close. The finished product. Playing with my grader blade was sooo much fun. I can't wait to find more material to push around with it.

A year from now, you'll be so busy with woodworking projects and tractor projects, you will wonder how you ever had time for a job. Enjoy your freedom, and stay active. Jim

Dang, i‘m today the idiot quick klicker...😎 The scratch Plow Frame... after i changed the Fuelline, i start continoue with the new Plow Frame i built. The idea was clear, the prep was parently done, so i cutted today the rungs. after checking double if all seems to fit i started the Welder. while Welding things together, i have an idea, wow to solve a Quickmount. The Baseframe Welded and rechecked, if all aligning Well. Thinkering on the front swing, test if it will work. While i testing, i get finally the idea how i like to solve the „quickmount“ what was on the „open todo“ list. The solution is as simple as nice. 2x 3/4“ Bolts will be set in 2 pipes, that they can be quick slided in for mount or slide out to remove. A Clamp will fix them when mounted. The pipes welded on... how the system works... on the Axles two mounts will be screwed on they get two holes (one on the left and one on the right) Mount position Release position..

Running a grader blade without hydraulics is thirsty work!

Is that some sort of motivation sitting on the A/C unit? nice work!!

I'm doing the same thing right now, started SSI earlier in the year, got this one last house we're building, and that most likely will be it. We're only working when the weather is halfway decent, and there's no big rush to get this one done, as long as we can get it weather tight before the snow flies. Which should not be difficult to do.

Well this project is well under way but i figured id start a thread on it anyways. It started with a 1962 wheel horse i grabbed for 50 bucks. It came with a poorly running briggs and a home made hood. The engine i swapped in is a predator 212 from harbor freight. All said and done i should be into this tractor for less than 500 with a factory hood installed. This is the tractor as i bought it: Pulled the engine off and pressure washed the entire machine, removed the factory battery box and ground down the frame to weld in new motor mount plates: welded in 2 pieces of 3/16 inch flat stock to mount the new engine to and bolted down the 212as of right now the engine is installed and running. Next step is to get a belt stop/guard in place as the belt keeps spinning when clutch is pressed in and i cant drive the machine like that. It will be getting new tires all around, a paint job, and a factory hood in the next week or so.

I just bought this 1054 a couple days ago to restore. I have already bought a few parts on Ebay including the Hood, clutch control rod, hitch lift cable, some missing parts to the mowing deck for it but wanted to ask the group what is best way to replace this clutch assembly I did find one on Ebay but the clutch pad was down to the rivets. I know the newer clutch design like what is on the C series has a replaceable clutch disk. Considered adapting that style of clutch by cutting a slot into the end of it to match it up with the 1054 style clutch control rod. has anyone done that before? What is the best way to address this problem? Facebook.html

He’s asking $150, so I’m going to shoot for $80-100 and see how that goes.

This is what i have been doing for years. I either have someone blast the stuff or i use oven cleaner for the small stuff and a wire brush. Then i use these Rustoleum Primer and paint. My restored rj58 looks fantastic. ALso on my rj i used 2 or 3 coats of paint and 2 coats of a clear coat. I finished my rj in 2015 she still looks perdy no paint issues. Now the hood and rims were done by a local tractor body shop. But I painted the rest with rattle cans. Perfect match I think!

Congratulations Sir!! Enjoy the time. Living simply to be alive is a tremendous dream of both Trina's and mine. You're as old as you feel. No more. No less. Be well. Take care of yourself so you can take care of others. Of utmost importance, just be happy.

When I did my 606 I only had to slightly trim the belt guard. I also had to widen the sides of the grill to clear the air cleaner. With regard to performance, the little 212 Hemi is very strong and pushes my 42” snow blade like it’s not even there. And that’s with an upsized engine pulley for additional speed. Sorry I don’t have better pictures

Get today a delivery of some Steel i wait for. like to built a Frame myself from Scratch.. firstly find the needed lenght, i like to have. i ended up from rearaxle to Tip with 1,60 meter. than i cutted the lenght and use the Bandsaw and later the Grinder to cut angles in. i cut the Angles a bit wider, because i will reinforce the welding sections later. so i be able to bend it in the Vice to my destination angle i need. Short verification after bending. doesn‘t look too bad. when i lay it on the floor in correct dimensions, i check, if my Plan will work. It seems i can go further forward with my Project..

Thank you guys for the prayers...I know they work. I, Chris and Stacy have been avid mask wearers. We also keep a bottle of the soap in the vehicles. Somehow, that nasty stuff got us, but I still believe in wearing a mask and separation. We all have the same symptoms at this point...headache, raspy throat and cough, slight fever 100-101, shortness of breath, ache all over and chills. The raspy throat and shortness of breath is what scares me. Just getting out of bed and you are trying to breath deep. No taste and no smell and nothing sounds good to eat, but that's OK...not hungry anyway. Hot tea with honey and lemon are very soothing. Getting pressure behind the eyes. Sleep one of two hours at a time. I pray none of you catch this.

Fistly i smelled Fuel in the Shed and see while inspect few dribbs below the Horse. Know allready, that will happen, and after Today i was prepared. So i ordered allready a new Fuelline, but wait for changing because here is no longer plain Fuel available, so it was clear for me it is just a question of time, that i must change it, but i was prepared and change the Fuelline completely to a Bioethanol usable one..

Just picked up a 520-H roller from @Pilgrim and packed it into the back of my '04 Volvo V70 to bring home. This is the rear-view view. And this shows how close a fit it was!

I owned a C-105 that was converted by another member. It has moved on to a different member! The Carroll Stream 10hp was a perfect fit on a Black Hood only needing to be raised about 1/2" at the hinge..

Self etching primer will actually eat in to the metal a little bit and gives your primer or paint something to adhere to. I always use it. Primer is most commonly used to fill minor imperfections in the surface before painting. Do not expect the durability of an automotive paint to come out of a spray can. An automotive paint with hardener added actually chemically dries/hardens, while spray can paint dries by evaporation only. Painting is like most things, it can be as expensive or as cheap as you desire. Most times the price/quality of the materials will show in the end results.

Another project of many on the c-145/c-141 recent purchases were the Goodyear ags. They were just horrible with ground in dirt and scarring. A combination of wintergreen oil and Marvel gets them pretty close. Wintergreen oil is used for go kart tires to keep them soft for the track.

Without a doubt, the best vocational decision I ever made was retirement. The wife and I both pulled the plug when we were 61 and haven't had any regrets. As @SPINJIM said, you will be so busy that you'll wonder how you ever found time for a job.

I'm late to the party. Looks like a good project for you and the pit crew. Looking at the picture I think it is probably a first generation 953, the steering wheel and Ross steering shaft are apparent and the seat frame is definitely 953. GO GET IT! You could probably make up a spacer block to go between the 953 frame and GT-14 grill to make up the height difference and help with alignment. The top of the grills is the same, good to go there. Here is a picture of a 953 hood sitting on a GT-14 grill.

You sure have been haulin the mail on projects lately Madge.... you tell W P to stick it in their ear or just burning the midnight oil? In the lower 50's here today so I said to heck with it & closed the shop & played hookie. Cleaned up the plow mules and their implements of carnage and greased them up for their winter home. Cleaned up four more, pulled batteries and stuffed them in the horse hauler winter home. See ya in spring girls. Blew out the pressure washer and then the sprinkler system/water supply to the warehouse... I hate winter!

Hello All, Today a deal that was made years ago was reversed... Russ and I had made some deal and I got his GT1800. Well Russ got a 520h along the way and simply didn't like it and wanted his GT back. We made another deal and the GT1800 again sleeps in his garage where it should be. We all have tractors we wish we could get back... Enjoy it Russ !! And THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THE GREAT U.S. OF A.! @SALTYWRIGHT

My Honey Trina is my "Paint Department". She uses almost exclusively Rust-Oleum 2X paint. If you want the paint to properly cure you'll need to lay it on and leave it alone for at least a couple months. It works fine for our applications because we build working tractors that get scratched and scuffed and she doesn't mind doing touch ups before shows or gatherings. If you really want truly "hard" automotive paint you need to get the tractor parts ready for paint and have someone spray them with real live actual auto paint.

Welcome. Your question will certainly lead to an interesting discussion....both have their supporters... My choice is Kohler because parts are much more readily available and less expensive....
