11 pointsAnd the big reveal! It’s so funny that I forget she is easily startled, so to have the lights come on and seeing the girls sitting in the dark, she looked right past the tractor, a couple times!
-
10 pointsI know of no other with a 1970’s “C” themed restoration. I guess that makes this one unique, though wrong, but it’s perfect and my wife agrees! I guess my next step other than getting it running is to take that wanted ad down!
-
10 pointsMe and the little WheelHorse crazy kid worked on his snow machine more today. Almost there.

9 pointsWell, though I missed the one that Craig has, Mrs. P has landed herself unknowing into the Ride Away Senior Club! As mentioned, I can’t thank my buddy Matt @Bow_Extreme enough for his grunt work (both via phone calls and physically) to get this piece of Wheel Horse history into a Michigander’s possession! The P.O. did not plan to sell me this, but a non-hooded model, even though we were unaware of the mixup until after our arrival. It took a lot of persuasion to convince Ollie that this one needed to come home with us! It’s a 1976-ish South Bend dealer restore, hence the not so correct wheel color and hood decals, but Mrs. P loves it the way it is! I look forward to the day I hear it fire for the first time in a long time!

7 pointsI just found out in @WHX24 thread that @stevasaurus and his wife Chris have tested positive for covid. So far it sounds like their symptoms are not too serious but we've all heard how this monster can operate. Lets all of us sent our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery for these wonderful people.

7 pointsI snapped these pictures a couple weeks back. Was a nice morning, good lighting and mist rising from the lake. I really should have put the long lens on the camera. Would have framed the pictures better.

5 pointsAnother one of my favorites here is this Stanley miter box which I inherited. It is a heavy quality built tool that although it looks relatively simple upon close look one realizes that it is a rather sophisticated and complex precision tool. This one is from the early 1940s. It stops positively at ANY and ALL angles within its scale without creeping out. Saw rides on bearings and guides are precise without side to side slack. It has work clamps and spurs to hold work steady while cutting. It is the go tool here for ridiculously small and delicate pieces such as some molding returns which on an electric miter saw would be impossible and dangerous. All of its functions are also fully adjustable if necessary. It is an absolute joy to use. Coupled with Excalibur, no noise, no flying dust,no danger and total precision.

5 pointsHope this is okay if not please remove.

5 pointsThat's awesome Kevin!! Been waiting for this thread to pop up. Mrs. P looks very happy.
-
5 pointsBuilt a rear hitch today. I spent a career in the oilfield industry where the moto is, "when in doubt go he_ _ for stout".

4 points1948 Grand Haven. Older restoration. New tires all the way around. Runs and drives like new.

4 pointsSo awesome to see this dream become a reality for Mrs. P and the Pullstart Gang! It is awesome how you guys share this hobby and make it an “excuse” to bond even more as a family unit. That is such a special and unique tractor with a great backstory. Looking forward to seeing it in action and getting some seat time somewhere in the not too distant future😉 Well done.
-
4 pointsThat's awesome, Kevin! I know you were really looking for a Senior and really glad to see that you found one - and a nice one at that! The early tractors are awesome. When you think about the history there - on one hand, what that and similar tractors represented during that post WW2 era and the excitement of a booming economy with tons of "victory gardens" - a really special time in American history. Then on the other hand, recognizing that these tractors were made by hand; each one of these that Elmer/Cecil had their hands on gives me warm and fuzzies just thinking about. So much equipment evolution evolved from the Pond Lever Steer and then the RS83 Ride-Away Senior. Really special. Congrats again!!

4 pointsMy brother David and I went to the Villa Grove, Illinois show three of four times. My sister Cindy lives in Hindsboro about ten miles south of Villa Gove. Larry Hall always organized the garden tractor portion of the Villa Grove zag Days where they closed down the Main Street in town and also had a very big antique and classic car show . Larry also collected various dump carts of different kinds and bought a Wheel Horse dump cart from me. Larry's tractors are good quality tractors in his collection. This was one of the shows from Augusat 2016 and my dad rode my brothers 1958 RJ with the front Tombstone weight all around town! Looks like there are 39 different model 1966 Garden Tractors/Mowers for sale! I also have some pictures from the 2018 Show:

4 pointsThere’s no reason to argue here, but Steve wasn’t in attendance at the plow day. Some may call me an idiot and I’m ok with that, but not in this thread please. Let’s keep positive prayers and vibes for the ones in need
-
4 pointsI’ve had it for Mrs. P for about a week, but haven’t said anything on here because I hadn’t surprised her with it yet. Well, she knows now!
-
4 pointsi try to always keep my powder dry when it comes to gas prices. We build up kroger fuel points and on occasion they run specials of gift cards for 4 times the normal amount. when you go to the Kroger fuel price app, they give you the lowest prices in the state. If local prices are pretty close to the bottom statewide, you have at the most, a bit more than one day to cash in. So locally, they hit $1.81 and we had a dollar off a gallon. I bought the maximim of 35 gallons for $28.70

4 pointsMerciful God, hear our prayer for Steve and Chris who are suffer from the coronavirus. May they receive the proper treatment to hasten their recovery and the comfort of your healing presence. May their caregivers, families and neighbors be shielded from the onslaught of the virus. Give solace to those who grieve the loss of loved ones. Protect and guide those who strive to find a cure, that their work may conquer the disease. Help us to rise above fear. We ask all this in the name of your Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

4 pointsI just came out of quarantine and this news is hitting me pretty hard. It is starting to explode here. We were lucky the first time around. Not a lot of cases then. Must stay vigilant.

3 pointsI have a 3-Point kit for sale. Yes, there was a 3-Point on that tractor. I also have a PTO kit but it’s not for sale. I do have another C-195 for sale as well. When I get some time, I will start a thread.
-
3 pointsThank you guys for the prayers...I know they work. I, Chris and Stacy have been avid mask wearers. We also keep a bottle of the soap in the vehicles. Somehow, that nasty stuff got us, but I still believe in wearing a mask and separation. We all have the same symptoms at this point...headache, raspy throat and cough, slight fever 100-101, shortness of breath, ache all over and chills. The raspy throat and shortness of breath is what scares me. Just getting out of bed and you are trying to breath deep. No taste and no smell and nothing sounds good to eat, but that's OK...not hungry anyway. Hot tea with honey and lemon are very soothing. Getting pressure behind the eyes. Sleep one of two hours at a time. I pray none of you catch this.

3 pointsOIL OIL OIL Were you in the shop the other day when Ryan got that tractor running and the LAST thing he did was check the oil?!?!? Just barely read on the dip stick!! This was even after Dan was man handling the throttle! Dan and I says they don't leave the trailer till their running!
-
3 pointsThe sticker on the back of my 161 is 12 inches wide by 2 inches tall. And you’re right, the sticker on the side is actually larger than that so they would not have been able to cut it down to that size.

3 pointsNothing could help this poor trans. Got it apart. All gears look good. Now good cleaning is in order
-
3 pointsYes the older spindles will work. As another option, you could drill & tap the ones that you have. used a 3/8 - 16 bolt about 3/4" long.
-
3 pointsWe will get it running and see what she wants to name it... It’s hers to name if she so chooses That sure does look the same! How about a measurement or two on that decal? I thought maybe a hood decal, but the C series I have around here were too small to be exact. I think you’re right! It was so hard to be in the presence of so many enthusiasts and not share a bit of the news! Thanks everyone for keeping the secret!
-
3 pointsThat is so awesome. Congratulations! The decal on the side looks sort of like the rear decal on my C-161.
-
3 points@pullstart is, as usual, on the ball... Thank you for your Eagle Eye and attention to detail... After many seconds of tense and heated debate by the Haiku Police Syllable Analysis Division () the following clarifications and corrections have been made. Appropriate disciplinary measures have also been taken. Uhm...Uhm...Uhm...Uhm...Uhm... HHHMMM...HHHMMM...HHHMMM...HHHMMM...HHHMMM...HHHMMM...HHHMMM... Well...Well...Well...Well...Well...

3 pointsI've never met Steve, but have talked with him many times on Skype, and class him as a good friend. I wish him and Chris plus daughter all the best and hope they get well soon.
-
3 pointsI snuck over to the inlaw’s place after a Senior reveal and dinner, did some more plumber’s crack work. Gotta get this heat system wrapped up soon!
-
3 pointsThanks, 2 plates! One for the front 2 holes and one for the rear 2. Could have done one big plate but this 3 inch flat stock was most easily accessible. Also no expert on engine swapping. Ive pulled and replaced dozens, but never one that isnt supposed to be in the machine. Going smooth so far. Good project to learn on with such a small machine and simple pullstart engine. Impressed with the new 125 welder from harbor freight though, weighs only 14 pounds and is about the size of a 6 pack!
-
2 pointsSo far its working. Lights kinda mounted need be adjusted. Wires are all run. Just need to make a mini switch box to mount the plug in and switches and the mount it to the bar.
