12 pointsGone is the ammeter in my C175 and a voltage gauge in its place. I figured this would be a good time to install the matching oil pressure gauge, new fuel line, and service out the engine.

4 pointsUsually this time of year in Maine painting is a little difficult for drying times but today was ideal as was the sun to help out. Resumed work on the 310-8. This is the third set of footrests I have painted this year. These were taken off of the C-85 parts tractor and appear to have been inside most if not all of their years and did not need a lot of rust removal. Also did both side covers and lower belt guide. Before and after pics and outside and inside drying stations.

3 pointsPlease take me with you! I've been working the past three weeks on our rental house in preparation for a new tenant that will move in tomorrow. However, I do have plans for some serious seat time the next few days. Our yard has lots of trees and is about an acre and a half. Most of it is covered with leaves and I get to pull the leaf sweeper around. As an added bonus I get to pile them high for composting with the GT-14 and FEL once they have been collected.

3 pointspullstart, those are very common to " VERNAL POOLS " in a marshy / wetlands type of growth. in my area ,those land areas are hotly contested for future housing sites , as they are natures way of having a natural water discharge area . housing built on them have constant water problem areas . been to a number of town meetings , to stop a building sites. pete

3 pointsMost of the major paint manufacturers such as PPG , etc... make special cleaners and prep products for cleaning and preparing plastic and rubber. That being said, this is what I would use and I can guarantee it will hold up and stick to the rubber: Use a PPG #su4901 clean and scuff sponge on the rubber portion of the wheel, it looks like an ordinary kitchen sponge but it is soaked in a special solution to get rid of all the oils in the rubber as you scuff it. You then rinse it off and allow it to dry. Wipe it down with PPG #sxa103 (available in spray cans), and then spray on a coat of (again in spray cans) PPG #sua470LV adhesion promoter. You should then be able to put most any primer/ sealer/ paint on it that you wish. This may be more $$$ than some people want to spend, but it will do what it's supposed to do. Painting rubber bumpers on cars 25-30 yrs ago used to be a nightmare trying to get the paint to stick, but products like these solved that problem. Good luck.

2 pointsI made an old MTD snow blade (square peg) fit on this Raider 10 with Tecumseh HH100 (round hole) by fabbing a bracket to mount it on until I find the proper wheel horse blade. I have changed the oil, gas filter, and transmission oil and tires. Put a rebuild on the LME 29 carb but still seems a little sketchy. I put a new spark plug in it and it felt a little "off" going in and felt like it wouldn't get completely tight, like it was stripped. Started it up and it ran for 5 seconds and blew the spark plug 20 feet out into the driveway. Oh man, that sucked. So I put the old plug back in, it seemed to go in fine and snugged right up. Don't know what's going on there, now I'm scared to try and change it again. Right now it runs pretty good. Seems to have a slight miss, can't tell if it's the carb or plug. Have started running seafoam in the gas. Hope it snows tomorrow.

2 pointsTo be honest I kind of skipped through this. It looks very interesting for making small parts. Wondered if anybody else has heard of this or tried it...

2 pointsSpent some time with my angle grinder removing the old tow behind hitch on my de-thatcher so I can start its conversion into a front mount de-thatcher. You can see the start of the caster frames for the gage wheels behind the drill on the bench as well. Will need to pick up some 3/4" round in order to proceed to the next step. Yes, I have a thread going on this in the Implement section.

2 pointsSome times a freshly painted tractor and engine will need to be roughed up a bit to work. Some star washers on the ground wire and on the S/G bolts will help complete the electrical circuit. Is the ignition switch rated for 70 amps? If not the S/G will cause the switch to fail unless a solenoid is added. A 103-990 switch is used in this drawing.

2 pointsDog and I will be taking our daily walks on the Fred Meijer Hartland trial. Saw a doe cross the trial ahead of us yesterday. Since it ts firearm season, we will not be walking the trial where it is inside of the state game areas. If the leaves dry up enough, we will be processing them in some manner - either mulching them or burning them. I've got the tow behind dethatching rake in the shop to convert it to a front mounted attachment. Hopefully, I'll get some time in on it. On closer inspection, it appears to be a home made item.

2 pointsHopefully getting my dads mud mower fixed for him. Its a Murray that ran 55mph with a six speed Tecumseh. He blew his casing so I took his axles and put them in a peerless transaxle I have laying around. Hopefully we get that worked out.

2 pointsThose little M8’s you cant beat. You will love it. Make sure you take note on how deep the original seal is in the block. Additionally, clean the area before removal and check for any burrs on the crank. All the best.

2 points@pullstart good luck with Loaded Norman in travel Hope the trip goes well
-
2 pointsThanks fellas! The big concern is being out in the middle of nowhere and having it crap out. Maybe I need to convince a friend that they need to build one, to have fun trail bombing together. ....or tow me home @pullstart I may look into a solid axle and some form of 'spool'- great idea! The 3 speed in the 654 has given me zero problems, but it's not locked, and the machine itself is a lot lighter than the next one will be. Sure would miss the absolutely effortless wheelies- I mean, this thing comes up and rides the bars with zero 'clutch dump' needed

2 pointsHesston Frontrunner 200. The story I got on it was the original owner’s wife was using it to mow and the fuel line from pump to carb split. Sprayed fuel on the engine and caught on fire. It burned until the wiring harness melted together and shut off the engine. Luckily the fire burnt out and did no more damage other than melting all the wiring. So hence the name “Blaze”. It was sold at a yard sale after the owner passed and bought by the guy I got it from. It has been in a barn since 2002. He has 12 more of them. Hope to get it going again soon.

2 pointsDon't know if you can get type A transmission fluid anymore but don't get too worried about that. Old style Dex Merc is fine. The higher lever on the right hand side is your motion control, forward and reverse. The lever that is in the tunnel fairly close to the seat Mount but on the right hand side is your actual Park Brake. Mental note... Never ever ever engage that unless you are completely and totally stopped. I can't tell from the pictures whether that is engaged or not right now but it does take a fair amount of gumption to move it up and down. The large tall lever on the left hand side with the thumb push button at the top is your up and down for implements like mower or plow etc. The pedal on the left is also a break. There is linkage in the tunnel that is directly attached to the motion control lever and it just moves that lever to a neutral position. You don't need to ever use that left pedal if you don't want to. Highly recommended to stick with a Wix or Napa filter. If you take a look at my thread about my Charger Hydro Project you may find some information that will be helpful and I would be more than happy to take short videos to let you know what is where..

2 pointsThose had a nasty reputation of rounding out the brass worm gear in the rear end if they were used for a lot of pulling or plowing. I owned a few.. Quirky rigs in their old age but they sure were solid for what they were.

1 pointYour 310-8 tractor is most likely a 1985 model number 21-10K801 because Kohler made the engine in 1984. 1985 was the first year for the 300-Series tractors. What is the width of cut of the deck? Not the width of the deck. 36", 42" or 48". There was also a later 37" side discharge mower with just two blades. Side or rear discharge? We do not have an operator manual for the 1985 model. This early 86 manual should work for you as it was replaced by a second version to correct oil capacities for the new in 1986 low engine oil system you will not have. This one for 1986 has service info that applies to the earlier and later models. Not many tractor service manuals were ever published. These come up on a search for the 21-10K801 https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?q=21-10k801&quick=1&type=downloads_file Garry

1 pointNot very active is he? Must be about time for hibernation. We have a lizard that suns himself on the back deck in the afternoon that looks about the same.
