Gave the 854 a bath today and then a ride around the property. I decided this year to retire it from grass cutting duties. I cut alot of grass with it.

I may be counting my chickens before they hatch here, but here goes. It had to be done. A few folks here know I'm looking for a deck for my 310. I can repair the one I have, but it's going to be a lot of sheetmetal work. Cue @Bill D I'd like to recommend he be bequeathed the title of, "Red Square Official Craigslist Finder and Forwarder From Now Into Perpetuity" Seriously though, Big Bill sent me an email this morning telling me about a deck that had just been posted. I check almost every day, but hadn't yet this morning. Bill made sure I new about it. I'm first in line for a very good looking 42 SD for $50.... Yes $50! And the seller also has a non-running 312-8 and snow plow for $50 and $75. Either way, thanks Bill, really. If I score this deck, even if it's just solid sheetmetal, it's a complete home run,. and only 35 minutes away from me. Thank you good sir!

Got Skittles out, charged her up and did some yardwork. Then she played with her newly adopted brother, “Blaze”.

If i remember right each one of those weights are 12.5 lbs what u don't see is the tires are filled with RV antifreeze. That tractor will moved the snow ,my driveway is slanted down to the road at a pretty good grade hence all the weight. My neighbor gets a big kick out of the tractor I really have to pay attention because it will climb a pretty good size snow bank and then get hung up. Here's a pic of my Power King that I mentioned before.

The Haiku Police have been called out to address disturbances caused by a sudden uptick in wrangling and generally behavior in the upper mid-west, primarily centered on Wisconsin, Minnesota and Middle Michigan. Informants indicate that a major gathering of fanatics is planned for the weekend and they need reinforcements... No time to count syllables...

I have made new seat and back cushions using vinyl from Jo Ann fabrics. I save the WH logo from the back cushion and sew it into the new cushion. The texture of the vinyl does not match perfectly, but it is close.

Also, just wanted to mention again how happy I am to see your workshop Nd all the space you’ve acquired! It seems when we spoke about making this all happen you would have been forced to sell your other Horse to make room, but also it would have had to sleep outside. It’s been an odd, but fruitful year!

When I did the steering wheel on my Raider I wet sanded the steering wheel with 600grit then washed it with a preps all solvent. Same solvent that I use for washing all parts before I paint them. Note if you have to prime over your filler work, use a black primer. This way if the paint does eventually rub through the primer is still black giving more time.

The whole set up is kind non conventional but works very well. I'm running an HY equivalent pump on the wrong side of the tractor with linkage running back to a handle mounted on the side of the dash.

Ding Ding Ding Steve is the winner which is appropriate as the tractor's name is Steve the woodruff key was sheared off on the cluster gear shaft as u can see in the pictures.I added a few pics of some of my other toys . The 69 Charger came with a Electro the tires were all flat with some off the rims don't know if the guy gave it a new name or the letters just got worn off eel hor is what I call it. I saved the 16 automatic from the scrap yard someone just dropped if off it's a nice tractor the sheet metal is all straight. It had been sitting for a long time the carb bowel had a hole in it also the exhaust valve was burnt. I ground the valve by putting in my drill press and ground it down with a piece of sand paper stapled to a block of wood even surprised me when I lapped it in very nice mark in the center of the face. Thanks for all the replies

I wouldn't miss any of them. The question is, how in the world are you going to get the honey do list done and also keep all of us five year olds happy? I think you can do it. Might take some extra caffeine but I think you can do it....

I figured today was a good day to start digging into it. And also some of the stuff you find from other people in the past the shouldn't be left behind covers. And also some wake up parts but the rest is secret for now.

About three years ago I moved a tarp that I had left laying around outside. Seems a nest for yellow-jackets had been made in one of the creases. They were very angry at me!!! Realizing what I had done, I took off running. Ran like greased lightening! They followed me through the garage and actually a few got past the inside door following me into the house. Continued stinging until I could finish swatting to kill them. I ended up with about 13 stings on my neck and cheek. And learned not to leave a tarp laying around.

The 520Lxi is the one model 5xi that I never owned. But many of the tricks in maintaining it are similar to maintaining my former 523Dxi. One thing that I have wondered about is that Toro didn't use the Daihatsu DM950G gas-version of the DM950D. The engine was developed as both a gas block and diesel block engine. It could be that the Kawasaki engine was already being used in the Lawn and Garden industry and would be more readily accepted and serviced. The Kawasaki engine had three less horsepower but may have been cheaper. The 523Dxi diesel tractor was actually developed for the European Market but for those that own/owned one a very nice tractor here in the USA When changing the antifreeze, I would use the green pre-mix antifreeze. Also change the radiator cap at the same time. Hoses should be good unless "squishy." It is important to have the rear end elevated when changing the antifreeze. You can use a set of ramps. The reason is that the radiator is reversed on the chassis against the firewall. It need to be the highpoint in order to burp air pockets out. Also when used for mowing, clean the radiator removable screen when finished. There is a filter screen for the transmission/transaxle fluid (besides the filter mounted on the transmission) for the hydraulic steering. It is behind the left-hand intake air screen of the body. I used Mobil 1 10W-30 synthetic motor oil in my hydros. It flows better in the winter and it can be purchaesed in a 5 quart jug. The quantity to refill is 4.5 quarts. Check the hub bolts to the axle to make sure they haven't loosened. You might consider changing the lugbolts to lugscrews if you need to remove the rear wheels. The thread is the same as older GM vehicles. It makes it a simpler remove and install the wheels. If you need to adjust the forward/reverse motion you will need to remove the right rear wheel to adjust the eccentric bolt. Make sure that the tractor is well supported as you will need to get slightly underneath to adjust it.

I say, “build it”—“drive it like you stole it”—if it breaks, build it stronger. You have nothing to lose... of course unless it breaks when you are doing about 25mph and you hit a tree...😬 make sure you have an updated steering system

Somehow...I think he would find a way to overload that too😂😂😂 I wish I could throw stones but he saw how full our Excursion was with luggage, schooling, and the like when we stopped by his place a few weeks back😬🥴😁

Stefan, I vote for the rear wheels painted to match the fronts... unless you want to keep them original. It looks and sounds great!

If the crankcase vent is not open the pressure can lead to oil consumption. This information is from the troubleshooting guide of the Kohler Service Manual in our manuals section.

Sounds like it may be getting tired. Are the trans fins clean? You may need to pull the fender pan and really give it a good cleaning. Use Mobil 1 in the trans and a Napa 1410 filter

Travel light Kev... you know I got camper gennys and such I have never even seen. I'm hooked to shore power here. Gonna be honest with ya here tho buddy I think hauling on tractors on a top a flat top like that is assnine. Just too much of a PIA to load tie down, unload enjoy, then load tie down etc ect. 'Course that's coming from 60 + yo dude that abused his body when he was your age and is paying for it now! Everybody chant with me ...toy hauler toy hauler.

I failed to mention yesterday how proud I am of my girls. I am glad I have my girls. I don’t wish I had tried for a boy. They are perfect the way they are. We managed to get the deck loaded atop of Norman! I started to load it as seen above, then grabbed Stormy the 1056 and the FEL to pick the back end up while I was going to pull the front over the wheel wells. That’s when all went wrong. It wasn’t high enough in the tail, so I started to lift the deck to adjust the strap, then a strap came loose, then I called them out for help. Those two kids picked the back end of that thing up and helped shove it into the truck bed! No question about it, they are tough and mean if they need to be! Today I received an 8 pack of 2” e-track straps for the deck. That’ll hold a few things down! I also borrowed my FIL’s small genny that fits under the deck, room up top to haul a couple extra tractors for some WI guys while I’m on the way, along with some parts for MN fellas too!

Did a little end of season work on the 1995 Toro Wheel Horse 266: new tires, and wide, flat seat. The tractor lug tires really help backing up steep spots, and the new seat lets me apply "body-english" on the side hills. The old old bugger is as ugly as I am, but unlike me, it still works. My big tractor is an 8N Ford, same year as me, 49. tom ps, plastic hood broke up, so I tossed it
