I got it running! 1967 WH 1277 with a Kohler M301S. I bought it three weeks ago not running. I was told it hadn’t run in several years. Thanx to you guys! I changed spark plug, ignition switch, battery, gas tank valve, added gas and a battery cable. I cleaned outside carburetor and engine. I can’t get muffler and pipes loosen and I still haven’t driven it around. I have never worked on any engines before. A2D8C35C-BA3F-4D86-87DE-934FBF647959.MOV B918A16D-570B-4E01-AA68-2061AD518F23.MOV

Oils today are much better than oils back in the late 50's and 60's. The secret is to change oil frequently and check the level often and then it shouldn't matter what you use.

We've all had one, and rap the bowl with a screwdriver handle or whatever hoping it works. I came across this tip in the Techumseh Service Manual for my snowblower and I'm sure it would work with any float bowl that has the detent for the float hinge. It's a real simple tip. The detent in the bowl will bump the float, possibly fixing the stuck condition.

I've had an absolute riot on this 654, and although she's in real rough shape and every moving part is shot, I just don't feel right hammering down on a good round hood anymore, so it's time to build another, less desirable chassis, then swap the engine, pulleys and tires over. There's a B-100 chassis in the parts stash, and an 8 speed out of some 'mystery' Horse, which I yanked and split the cases on last night. Perfect candidate for a beater, as it's all there but pretty grungy. Unfortunately it's a 1" axle, 4 pinion setup. I understand the 4 pinion diffs arent the beefiest, but this one will be locked for trail use. How do you all feel about the 1" axles, especially being in a locked situation? Think it'd hold up, or do I need to abandon ship and find one with 1 1/8" axles to start?

I'm happy to report that my 701 runs much better after rebuilding the carb. I also discovered that the sediment bowl was plugged tighter than ( add your own analogy here ). Some may have decided to get rid of it but I decided to keep it for sedimental reasons. That and I had a kit laying around to rebuild it. New screen, bowl gasket & packing for the valve. I also added an in line filter for good measure. Engine now purrs like a kitten.

I may be counting my chickens before they hatch here, but here goes. It had to be done. A few folks here know I'm looking for a deck for my 310. I can repair the one I have, but it's going to be a lot of sheetmetal work. Cue @Bill D I'd like to recommend he be bequeathed the title of, "Red Square Official Craigslist Finder and Forwarder From Now Into Perpetuity" Seriously though, Big Bill sent me an email this morning telling me about a deck that had just been posted. I check almost every day, but hadn't yet this morning. Bill made sure I new about it. I'm first in line for a very good looking 42 SD for $50.... Yes $50! And the seller also has a non-running 312-8 and snow plow for $50 and $75. Either way, thanks Bill, really. If I score this deck, even if it's just solid sheetmetal, it's a complete home run,. and only 35 minutes away from me. Thank you good sir!

Ding Ding Ding Steve is the winner which is appropriate as the tractor's name is Steve the woodruff key was sheared off on the cluster gear shaft as u can see in the pictures.I added a few pics of some of my other toys . The 69 Charger came with a Electro the tires were all flat with some off the rims don't know if the guy gave it a new name or the letters just got worn off eel hor is what I call it. I saved the 16 automatic from the scrap yard someone just dropped if off it's a nice tractor the sheet metal is all straight. It had been sitting for a long time the carb bowel had a hole in it also the exhaust valve was burnt. I ground the valve by putting in my drill press and ground it down with a piece of sand paper stapled to a block of wood even surprised me when I lapped it in very nice mark in the center of the face. Thanks for all the replies

Trina had some good ideas. You as well, but it wasn't in any of those places. As far as Murphy goes I threw him out of the garage long time ago. Never to come back. Very troublesome. It just so happened when sealing the tank I had the cap in my shirt pocket. I apparently went somewhere afterwards and placed the cap in the pocket of the door in my truck.

Hi. Dave When I opened the transaxle up I was expecting to see some broken pieces or shavings everything was clean no pieces. That's what is so baffling. I took the differential apart also once again no damage. Maybe my Xwife put the wammy on me

I made this video a few years ago. There's really no point to it, I was just taking a chunk of cast iron and cleaning it up for fun. And no, I'm not a machinist. I'm just lucky enough to know a few who have helped me enough to make me a danger to myself and more importantly a danger to my metal stock. Tools used: 1936 F.E. Reed and Company 9" engine lathe. I love her so, this old girl!

A quick update on the day: for once...I just decided not to work today! I am usually up to my eyeballs in a big projects in October...this year I have several small ones. So...it has been a family/tractor day. first worked on getting Judge’s 100 running for plow day. The regulator bracket broke this summer and fried several items. Got that running! Zach was a great helper with that! Then we lined up a few tractors for a birthday ride and then a game of tag! Here is my favorite “small” people in the whole world...I am truly blessed! Then I did a little polishing on the hitch that Kevin made for me last year. This year it will hit the furrows at Jim’s... Now we are cooking steak & eggs for supper along with seasoned breakfast potatoes... thank you so much guys for your friendship—those of you that I have met and those I have YET (someday maybe along the trail we can change that) to meet! You guys add a lot of flavor to my life and I appreciate you all👍🏻

My C145 has the control mounted on the center counsel of the tractor. This spot is OK but when you are running a snow plow it would be nice to have 3 hands. Speed/direction control and blade angle takes up your right hand, steering wheel in your left hand unless you want to raise or lower the plow. After some time I did get the hang of it though My favorite is where I put the control on my Raider 12. I can raise or lower using my left hand without taking it off of the steering wheel.

Exactly. Although I did immediately go to the garage and put it on the tank. The test drive IS ON

Happy birthday! It feels weird wishing someone a happy birthday I've never met, but hopefully that will change in the next few days. I can honestly say if your personality in real life is anything like your personality on here, well then I'm in for a real treat. Your rolling dirt thread and your YouTube videos have inspired me to build my own plow mule and drive it (in the bed of my truck) 800 miles to America's Dairyland and turn some sod. Secondly and most importantly, your love for the Lord and family makes me want to be a better man. It would be a dream come true for my sons and future kids to share my GT hobby with me. I guess that's it for now... Happy birthday 🙈🙈🙈

The whole set up is kind non conventional but works very well. I'm running an HY equivalent pump on the wrong side of the tractor with linkage running back to a handle mounted on the side of the dash.

Ya know, if you rip that bed off of that truck, you just might have something there. The house next door to me was just bought by a flipper. This guy has the best toys. Excavators, boom trucks etc. I noticed the other day he dropped off his roll off container using the same truck he had his tractor and mule on a few days earlier! Upon closer inspection, he has a custom flatbed for his rolloff truck. I don't know if this is a common thing, but it's just brilliant. Take a flatbed, add rails compatible with the roll off and you have a dual purpose truck.. Edit: To clarify, his flatbed mounts to the truck just like a roll off container. So he can do either. Genius!

Without question, it should be here where it can be reached w/o removing your hand from the wheel. You must also add a foot pedal for motion control. Then you have an efficient plow machine. Left hand steer and brake Right hand steer and angle blade Left foot brake Right foot f/r motion control

I like the idea of the voodoo doll, I have enough sewing machines, another crazy thing i got into, Antique Sewing machines don't take up as much space as the tractors good thing have about 50. Steve I'm thinking the same thing about the key must have missed it. I was looking at the parts break down looking for a key don't think i saw one. The wheels are off should get the transaxle out today. I got side tracked needed to mount new tires on my 1973 Power King every time i want to move it the front tires were flat. Thanks for all the help I'll let you know what I find.

I like the Milwaukee brand drills too! I don’t have any of the M-18 battery operated tools but my first really good drill with plenty of torque is a Milwaukee! It impressed me a lot when working on rusty Wheel Horse mower decks when removing those 3/8 hex bolts from the spindle housings! I about ripped my right arm out of the socket first time I twisted the drill in a torque spiral! I recently bought a M-12 battery operated small drill ( really a big screwdriver) for use on all the household duties. It works great and has adjustable torque. Good work tools are worth what you pay for them if they do the job!

Looks like the spindles on my Lawn Ranger. Both were like this. Old wheels had steel bushings instead of a bearing, and killed the spindles. A-Z Tractor had a set he had just gotten in, but couldn't ID them as they are a little unique. Needless to say, I scoffed them up, and added a new set of bearing-wheels to the front to prevent this from happening again.

Had about 30 mins of daylight after work. Removed the home made plow off the frankenhorse. Removed the battery as i wont need at anymore, but its a December 2019 battery that came in the tractor so thats a score. Pulled the rear end fill cap and water poured out, no big deal i planned to flush it anyways. Will add a new shift boot as well. Working overnights the next 2 days along with my regular 8 hours during the day. So the tractor will sit soaking in simple green for the next 3 days til Saturday then i will pressure wash the whole machine and start sanding to prep for new paint. Not a terrible looking machine underneath all the hack work. Let me know what you guys think of it!

Decided today to partial cleanup my Deck and refresh it a bit to prevent further rusting. firstly i Clean it all with a Wirebrush and Brakecleaner combo. works like a charm, but a little mess.. and clean all Parts completely until it‘s only blank steel. Than i prepared the Parts again and Painted them at first coat with ruststopper ground. After 20 min i paint it in RAL3003 Ruby Red. in my opinion that‘s a true Horse Color.. so i did this first partially with the whole Mowerdeck, to see how it looks. Sections i wan‘t painting will be not prepared at all. that‘s not a restoration, it‘s just rustprevention... Give it a 5 surfaces wet in wet and forgot in the first try, to hide the Labels, but cleaned them immediately. The undersite of the Deck was hardly attacked by moisture over the times. Time to protect it again a bit. While driying, i resharpened the Blades. While painting, i permanently took care on the Old Label‘s, that they can stay on the Deck. While on last longer mow action i hear a not nice sounding noise, so i decided to change the Bearings on the Deck. Pressed them in and out with the Vice by Aluminum clamps - easy doing and at least i set them bit more to mount the Seal. Than i complete the Spindle and remounts the old Belts for the moment. after all was finished i sat it 2 hour‘s for drying and enforce that with the Heatgun. that was just a test to see, if my Doing will last. After 3,5h all was Dry and i mount the Deck and set it outside for another hour... So we be back in Service again... .... time for a Testrun...
