14 pointsWhat did you guys think of the weather today. As much as I like snow to play in with the tractors I could enjoy this type of weather year round the older I get. Today's project was fall cleaning in the cabin. Checked the flue for the woodstove and all was clean, only burn good dry hardwood sure helps and took a few pics from rooftop. Pulled everything from the cabin and porch out and vacuumed with the help of the Honda generator and washed the floors with Murphy oil soap. Washed windows and stocked up the firewood on the porch before the snow hides it. Had lunch and a cold one listened to some music and enjoyed a day in the woods. Getting ready to do some overnights out there. Used the 420 to haul the required equipment out back to stretch it's legs.

13 pointsBefore I set my C-141 with the grader blade I gave my Raider a little exercise. Tomorrow I'll have to see which one of my Horse's is up for some lawn sweeper duty.
-
10 pointsBlew another one apart today...doing this one up for a buddy of mine...and my love of the W-H hobby. Call me crazy, I call this fun.
-
8 pointsWhat Uncle Jim’s trying to say though Dan is ags and a bit of weight make for a more funner time... but not necessary to move dirt around.

7 pointsI won some already painted hubcaps on eBay for cheap! Our youngest likes to paint and she likes horses so natural we let her do a little work on these hubcaps which we will put on our sulky cart! She is Super Concentrated!! She isn’t done but paint rain out of what she needed! Update later after we get more paint!

7 pointsCouldnt refuse the deal on these 2. Bronco that ran when parked several years ago, and a 120 with Ark loader. Loader seems to be in good condition, 12hp runs and sounds decent but smokes a little and looks like rode hard and put up smoked! I will take some time and do some quick cleaning and sorting and see what I got then go from there. Lol! Thinking about either replacing the 12 hp with a 16hp, or pulling loader and putting on a C-175 8, or SK486 8. Not sure if i want it on a hydro or 8 speed.

7 pointsThat it was. Not knowing if you were going to find some land this year, 3 of us decided to just pick a random lawn & have at it so we could get some seat time.

7 pointsHad a little test & tune day today. My nephew thinks that he wants to become a pumpkin farmer next summer & asked if I wanted to plow part of his lawn under. Dumb question!!! Of course I'll take an opportunity to plow, specially some ones lawn. And Lord only knows the last time that this soil was tilled. My friend Jason has been having a bit of a time getting his 12" Brinly to plow correctly. last time we had a get together we discovered that the back bone on his plow was bent. He straightened it but we don't think that it's quite there yet, as it would pull his Snapper GT around. Hopefully he'll get a chance to tweak it & try it again before J&C plow day. Joel has his Landlord tuned in pretty well. He was plowing pretty deep with absolutely no trouble at all. My Raider was doing what I built it to do, turn soil. Take a look at these near text book furrows. It only took a short time for our trio to knock off a little more than 1/2 an acre.

6 pointsI did some exploring into some of the issues I may be facing with my recent purchased of a 1277 Wheel Horse from 1967.
-
6 pointsSince the monofilament is clear , I outlined it so you can see where the stitching is . 1 down ....and looking pretty good !

5 pointsWhere was my invite!?!? Musta been for that rough lookin Red Rock gang only!

5 pointsNow that our painting days are getting shorter I figured with the weather today was a good time to paint the rear wheels on the 418-A. I removed the chrome hub caps on the front to see what the condition of the wheels were and there was about a half a tube of grease all over every inch of both wheels. decided not to paint them at this time. Both side covers and footrests were done in late August. I recently bought this and have been doing a few things as time allows. Painted the black center of the rear hubs and installed a rear hitch for the 48'' dozer blade that I have not used since the early 90's and thought I would try it with a Hydro tractor for cleaning up after light snow storms. Have included pics when it came home and a few from today.

4 pointsOn the other hand, the lack of duct tape indicates a very poor level of engineering know how... certainly below par for the average Red Square expert...
-
4 pointsSomeone on here suggested rubbing marvel mystery oil onto paint. Gave it a try on the hood as it couldnt really get worse. Looks 👍
-
4 pointsI take it you don’t go into your back yard very often !

4 pointsIt may be that Randy is super awesome and just feels the guilt on his own due to a strong sense of compassion for his fellow human. Nothing wrong with that. IIFF the PO is truly TRYING to guilt him then that's on the PO. Not Randy.

4 pointsThere's no need to lose money on the deal - he was the one that gave up on it in the first place. Sounds like you've got a lot of time and effort in it.. Didn't you make an 8 hour trip for the engine? Don't get guilt tripped into it if you don't want to sell it. Nothing saying you can't keep it for a while and then sell it to him later on if you decide to. Enjoy it for a while!

4 pointsI finally got around to mounting my new grader blade on to one of my tractors. My C-141 8 speed seemed to be a good candidate. My neighbor was doing some land scaping & I ask him if I could smooth out the dirt and ruts that he made with his compact tractor. I had a lot of fun playing with my new toy. The little bit I did with it turned out pretty good too.

3 pointsLove that cabin Plunge. Had one like it once but went with the property when I sold it. Called it the love shack! Always figured to build another but just never got to to it. The wood stove must roast you right out! Weather here today was kinda of sucky but yesterday ws awesome! Hope indian summer continues till afer plow day. Less than two weeks away now and the boys are getting antsy.

3 pointsBased on the square hole at the rear of the hood, it’s either a Suburban 400 or 550.
-
3 pointsIf the steering wheel is shot, just take a dremel with a cut off wheel and make 2 cuts in the piece thats on the shaft
-
3 pointsTwas a strange day yesterday. We are working through the leftovers from Delta coming across Tennessee. The sun would shine then it would get dark a little wind then the sun would come back out again and be raining at the same time! Seems like Alabama is getting it harder than we are. IMG_8851.MOV

3 pointsRandy loves the tractor that's why he doesn't want to sell it back. And @rjg854 I vote for not feeling guilty. Keep it for yourself if you want it, you will take excellent care of it
-
3 pointsFinally found the time to start modding these straps . As you can see from the first pic the Nylon webbing is much too thin and slippery . But I really do like the hook end , It has a keeper and a swivel !
-
3 pointsI'm with Jonah in this one. You should feel NO guilt in the PO wanting it back AFTER all the work was done that the PO did NOT have the gumption to resolve on their own. YOU put the time in. YOU put the money in. YOU put the mental and physical energy in. You should keep and enjoy the ride....
-
3 pointsThere is no way I would sell it back just my 2 cents..... sweat equity has far more worth than feeling guilty... You cant let that machine go.....Alot of time and effort went into it, John
-
3 pointsI found that putting a small refrigerator in the shop helps with that problem.
-
3 pointsYes, I do Came with one....if you look at the tractor when its loaded on the trailer, you will see the gentleman gave me a large towel to put under my strap, so I used it for a blanket !!!
-
3 pointsI had mentioned a couple of replies ago that I was feeling another build coming. I have 3 styles running thru my mind. I love the look of steel wheels but living in eastern Maine I'm thinking something for the snow. Kinda torn between the 2. Pictures are food for thought. I would still be building in the smaller scale
-
3 pointsLooks much better and increases even the stability on sideslopes. 👍

3 pointsto the and the "88 520 club. There are many threads on here addressing the potential problems with the Onan P220 engines. The biggest concern being the overheating of the rear cylinder resulting in a loose valve seat. I agree, you should remove the tins and clean the engine cooling fins. If there is any sign of oil on the fins, look for a small oil leak under the oil filter base plate. This plate is fastened to the block with two small bolts and a very narrow sealing area making it subject to leaks. If it leaks, the oil is blown across the cooling fins causing grass to collect and compromise the cooling. Make sure the gasket between the oil filter and the engine tin is in place.

3 pointsPulling the boats is the worst day. My father-in-law (ex, I guess) has a lake house in Mass. I was the head boat and dock worker for over 20 years. I always hated "pulling the boats and docks day". I didn't mind the work, winterizing the boats, pulling the docks, closing up the house. It was more the goodbye to summer. Meh he's not my ex father-in-law. Screw that. We did countless projects together up at his lake house over the years. His daughter may be my ex, but he's still my friend.
-
3 pointsIt's funny, I have no need for a grader, but the more I see you guys posting your graders and the jobs you do, Oh dear, I would like to have a grader. @ebinmaine Can you email one of those too? Please!
-
3 pointsMy 520-H was packed with grass and dirt. I suggest you remove the engine cover and clean the cooling fins. The hood stand and the hydro was also packed. Altogether I removed about a half a bushel of dirt and grass.

3 points@Stepney Spenser stopped by and I threw a few Wheelhorse parts at him. He's helping someone out by fixing up a "woods find" round hood. Great to see some of our pile o parts being used to get a horse back on its feet.

3 pointsFINALLY got the wheel spacers on the 1055 ..... what a bunch of screwing around! Hardware issues mostly. Spacers are all set up for 1/2-20. Studs are of course 7/16 but the studs I had were too short ... githerdone! Drilled the hub holes out to 1/2" and used 1/2-20 x 2" bolts. Dang near killed me to take the 7/16 threads out of the hubs but I just kept telling myself @Achto has no problem removing 60 yo metal! Lock washers are ther 'cause the bolts were just a 1/8" too long. Thanks Dan you corrupted me! Wonder if 60 years from now some FO (future owner) will go ... WTF was this guy thinking?!?!? Before After Amazing what just an 1 1/2 will do. Rears line up perfect with the new V-61's on wider rims on the front now.
-
3 pointsGet an 8 speed Wheel Horse with a 48" deck and mow the area where you plan to build. Hire your neighbor to mow the rest ever couple of months. You mention that you planed to mow every once in a while. That won't get it with a garder tractor, with a fair amount of rain you can be in trouble in two weeks..Don't know about your area around here you can get some one to mow it for the hay a few time a year.

2 pointsI’ve had time to get the fuel drained and replaced with fresh in the 312-8 recently. Completed her first grass cutting job in at least 3 years. Little under 5 acres. Purred like a kitten. jhn9840 John
