11 pointsThis is one of my favorite planes and a rather important one here. Made by my Grandfathers brother in 1927. It was given to me in 1983 (the second mark CCS 1983 is mine).? The brass wear channel on the bottom is to replace the worn wood it was made of, which wore out from so much use. That was done by my father in his 20s. In 1992 I made the separate oak fence and wedges so it could be used for what became my trade mark detail in the corner of door frames . I have planed literally miles and miles of beads with this plane many of which are in my house.

9 pointsThanks for the engine @johnnymag3 this is just what I needed to bring that Raider 12 back to life. A much better solution than what I was contemplating by parting it out. Pictures to come as work begins.
-
6 pointsHeres one of the many i brought back to life! @ebinmaine i would have to disagree with your previous statement lol. The hospitality, attitudes and coffee were great when i came up!

6 pointsIts not what I did for my Wheel Horse today.....but what we did for our Wheel Horses today....rjg854 was here in Clinton Corners, N.Y. ...and grabbed the engine for his project. I want to tell you, this site is full of great people. He drove 4 hours to get a super nice 12 HP Kohler......and to put the icing one the cake, we talked like we knew each other for 60 years !!!! Hes on his way home now, and was instructed my myself to let me know when he gets home safe......I feel like my DAD

6 pointsYesterday 1 corner... today ends with 1/2 the hood done so far.

5 pointsWanted to see other people restorations. Always like to see the small details that were put in to make it different. Tell how long you’ve had it. How you got it. And 1 thing you changed when you restored it. And 1 or 2 pics of course. I’ll start. Here’s my 856. I got it earlier this year as a birthday present from my girlfriend. 1 of the many things I’ve changed is the color scheme.

5 pointsA little more progress tonight. A rubber bungie, some machine bolts, a couple finish washers and a couple pieces of flared brake line and VOILA! Hood latches.

5 pointsThe guitar is a tool and its purpose is to achieve a means to the user. There are many good and great guitar players out there, but few who can make that tool seem as it is part of their bodies and not some object that they are simply holding and using. It is that "fusing" of tool, body, and mind that make a real exceptional guitar player. The effortlessness and ease with which it is used and the end result which is essentially the users thoughts and feelings being conveyed through the tool is what sets a few apart from all the others. Not many achieve that end result, but Eddie was definitely not only someone to listen to, but also someone to gaze at. May other upcoming artists be fortunate and have that ability. Its not the rock star image, frivolous posing while playing, or even record sales that makes greatness. It is ones ability to be one with the tool or instrument and let that be ones inner voice that defines greatness. Another irreplaceable loss has happened.

5 pointsJust to validate my comment. I have been brush hogging for a few days with my 76 yr old Farmall M. Done about 17 acres so far. Yesterday was working along when I heard a change in the noise. Stopped her and found that the roll pin in the overrunning clutch had failed and the PTO shaft was about to pull off the tractor. That would have been exciting and dangerous a 6 ft long steel shaft, U joints and clutch flying around (the heavy blades and stump jumper have a lot of momentum).

4 pointsHad a great day guys. The friendships made here are one of the best things a guy could ask for. Thanks again.

4 pointsThank you. All due to a lifetime of learning but mostly having the opportunity and good fortune to be surrounded by talented people who cared. The only credit I really deserve is the fact that I always knew a good thing when it was in front of me and never let that moment go to waste.

4 pointsThe 252-H was designed to be a lawn tractor which will cut grass and pull lawn implements like a grass catcher or lawn roller. It only weighs a bit over 400 pounds and the disc brake on it is not designed to stop heavy weight, You may be able to pull a considerable amount of weight, but stopping it could be your downfall.

4 pointsLooks like he used the finger as a swizzle stick to stir some type of epoxy.
-
4 pointsOne must use great caution when encountering statements such as this. It's been said by many persons with far more wisdom than I that that could be construed as a code language which reads simply: "Read my mind and fix it the way I think I want it done".

3 pointsFor some people the first sign of fall is leaves turning or cooler weather. Well for me it is the arrival of the pesky Asian Beetles. When the weather starts to get cooler these bugs try to find any place that they can to spend the winter. This cycle really seems to be accelerated as soon as the soybeans start coming off from the fields. A pic of the side of my friends camper this afternoon.
-
3 pointsMaybe a bit of both. If the weather is bad, I now climb on Radpferd. His fenders keep the crud down to a minimum.
-
3 pointsGot it. @8ntruck Chris is all set. I dunnup a right fantastic and highly akkritt pic.
-
3 pointsWhile small fenders look cool they do have one disadvantage. I use a 400 Suburban for a show cruiser & the backs of my legs and my back get covered in mud if there is muddy conditions at the show. But I sure do like the looks of small clam shell fenders.
-
3 pointsMessing around with fender shapes. Thoughts??? Suggestions???? The input I get from you guys helps tremendously.

3 pointsY'all don't have a Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware or anything of the like? Every hardware store I've ever been in had Hillman fasteners in their hardware sections.. They're also the ones that make the throttle shaft bushings that we've come to love. I'm not sure that's a mental picture we want to envision!

3 pointsI bent up a quick and dirty mulching plate for my 42" SD deck this weekend. Sun finally came out and dried the leaves up so I could try it out. It does not produce total containment of the leaves, but what do get trapped in the deck do get chopped up. The deck tends to blow the leaves ahead and to the right, so a clockwise pattern starting at the outside edges of the lawn seems to work the best. The plate is attached with two bolts through existing holes in the deck. The holes along the bottom edge were spot welds in this material's previous application. Requisite picture: I've been meaning to post a picture of the model and serial number plate for the serial number list that someone is keeping here on the forum:

3 points@formariz Well written. Thank you. As we all know life has its ups and downs and you have to take the good with the bad . Remember the good times when you're having the bad times and enjoy the good times because you remember that the bad times sucked. When losses such as this occur it's important to remember that there are new up-and-coming talents on occasion that although they may not compare, and no one will certainly ever replace Eddie Van Halen, they might just be worth a listen...
-
3 pointsNothing wrong with the USB ports! I put a couple on my C165 along with a 12 volt outlet.
-
3 pointswell I'm doing a little "tunes" update to the GT16. NO....I didn't destroy a perfectly good Wheel Horse radio....LOL This one was a spare from another make. Tore a part a miniature bluetooth speaker and mounted it to a plate that I made. Should be perfect for sitting around at shows. Not too loud.
-
3 pointsGreat pics Josh . Cool thing is I can just about name every guy in that pic. Even @squonk ungly mug photobombing!
-
3 pointsHere is my rj running. I got her out a couple months ago to give my grand baby a ride!
-
3 pointsIt is not much. They recommend no ground engagement attachments. That limits you to attachments like snowthrower and snow blade. The Eaton 700 transmission was designed to move the tractor and that is about it. Link to the operator manual From the manual Garry

3 pointsThe Haiku Police have weighed in and determined that emojis count as one syllable. Therefore, your submittal is acceptable to the Supreme WH Haiku Court. This was determined by a nationwide mail in vote, the results of which may or may not ever be counted. The Court simply likes it and therefore it is acceptable...

3 pointsI wish there was a steel cab that was made for the wheel horse tractor , but I guess if it was easy I would not be interested in doing it LOL 😆
-
3 pointsHappy Birthday Bro from the Stertz Gang! Thank you for your investment in Caleb and his projects over the years... looks like you had a great day!!!! Remember this?
-
3 pointsThat tractor will love it !!!! The guys here can tell you what to do with the 3 wire plug coming from the Cooling shroud.....its going to be great !!!! Im so glad its going to be in service again,,,,That K engine has 200 or less hours on it. Enjoy Randy !

3 pointsI made up a chute crank for the 44” snowblower and finally ordered a different carb for the Onan. Every time I shut it off fuel gets pushed out of this jet. I’ve rebuilt the carb and installed and set a new float. It loads up a cylinder and starts hard on one cylinder. Once it clears out it runs great. I’m hoping an older style carb helps.

3 pointsSome bump stops for the hood. Yup, they are tire valve stems. A bit of trimming and they seem to work great

3 pointsa 4x8 Harbor Freight utility trailer is the PEFECT match to a wheel horse. it's narrow enough to fit down my trails, carries a ton of weight and volume with the plywood sides on, and makes the ideal hayride vehicle. so far we've had 5 people max in the trailer, and found the smoothest ride is up front, so that's where grandma and grandpa sit when we hit the trails. Camping: All the toys out: Hauling lots of branches away to the burn pile: We've been using it so much that it gets a parking spot right up by the cars:

3 pointsYou folks have some dang nice lookin' machines, wow! Here's three favorites before and after, although only one is a true restoration. 520H got a full 'above the frame' resto and mild custom, including oil filter relocation and cooling mods, early decals including mid 60s style belt guard decal, LED lights, mild patina by sanding through the red down to a coat of red oxide, etc... I ended up selling it to fund a barn full of older models and sometimes regret it. She was a beast! 'Hoss' is a round fender custom was built from a pile of parts- C120 chassis, early long hood, 8 pinion 8 speed, early rear fenders, and a hopped up K321 with mild pulley swap incase I want to take a trail ride. 'Wheel'n Horse' is a well used and worn out 654 that had a junk engine, now a swapped out, hopped up 11hp OHV generator engine, adjustable wheelie bar, and pulley swapped- this one runs 28mph on GPS and is a blast to trail ride!

3 pointsStarted the process here today of cutting through decades of horrendous paint jobs... in pursuit of that glorious... factory original...red gel coat.

2 pointsThis afternoon a neighbour in town offered me an IH 966 for helping him to do some work on his Case 630, the hydraulics are weak. In the meantime I've made a telephone call to our local Case dealer and Larry the service manager has offered us the loan of the service manual. The IH 966 has 95 PTO horse power and one rear tire is rotten and flat, just has to drive a mile before it gets permanently hooked up to my hammer mill to make copper chops.

2 pointsMy kids are 14 and 16 AND I'm a computer guy by trade. There is no help. (For me) LMAO
-
2 pointsHoly crap wife just got a pic of me running out to the shop in me undies.... hope she don't put that on FB! Oh well half the time I do it buck naked ... after dark of course ...... unless a member really needs a pic after I just hopped out the shower. Hey you pay the taxes here then you can tell me not to do it!
-
2 pointsNo mention of replaceable bearings. Not saying it can not be done. The later pulleys are often welding around the bottom of the V so at a minimum a metal lathe would be required to separate the 2 halves. Here is what Toro has for replacements https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro-104974/ Looks like a standard metric ball bearing with possibly a 3/4" ID. 6203-2RS-16 is just a guess. Garry Just found the Nylock nuts are 3/4"-16 so that should be the shaft diameter. #915640 and 915640-4 replaced by the current 3296-15. They may be a thin nut - do not know. Standard nut with Loctite would do the job.
-
2 pointsOk I'm not done with this totally unnecessary build, but it was a vision of mine from long time ago, here are a few pictures 1970 wheel horse GT 14 ....steel cab 27x 12 and 1/2 15-in tires single stage snowboard

2 pointsSunday I had the first chance to try out my WH mulching leaves. I don't have a recycler, just a standard 42" SD, but was happily surprised by how well it did. Without a mulching cover, it took quite a few more passes, but the leaves are gone. For now. And of course, when I was done, I parked her in the side yard and gave her a good cleaning with the air gun. Ain't she purty? Even for a "new" one?
