Got a "Heads Up" from my neighbor about a sale with a Wheel Horse in the inventory. Went down to take a look and a funny thing happened.......I bought it 1966 Wheel Horse Model 876 with mower deck (no holes) Runs, (no smoke), hydro smooth, hydrolic lift, slot hitch, lights front and rear work, no dents and good tires $350

@Stepney Spenser had mentioned wanting before and after pictures of the driveway at some point. Figured I'd share with the group. Trina took some material from the center and moved it to the sides. Also dug a couple water channels at the sides which aren't very evident in the pics. Here's 3 before: And 2 after: And a video:

Recently did mine too on the C-160. I just spit on it a rammed it in there. Works for me!

Yup. You better find out why before you do more damage. Valve spring binding? Collapsed lifters? Pushrods don’t just give up for the heck of it.

I cut back on the pranks. But I do hold a "prank" class 1 night a week. The kids love the cellophane tape on the electrical cord prongs trick.

I put the rubber in first then push the valve in it I used dish soap And I didn't have that mush trouble with it. The hardest thing for me was trying to get the clamp over the hose. It's really a tight fit for the hose.

@rjg854 picked up a nice Raider Sunday and I scored a 75 B-80 with a 4 banger for a Grant and Lincoln (Yay North! ) at an online auction. Had to have Randy (THANKS AGAIN RANDY) pick it up as I'm currently on temporary lockdown. Had to install a used wheel and tire, used battery and put in some nice clean gas from a nice clean gas station. (Fred Flintstone reference) The old gas looked like Mountain Dew. Drained the tank, lines, fuel pump and carb and she took off! Deck has a hole in it. Haven't driven it yet but it sounds good!

So far I have found one bent and two broken rods. I’ll see about some high performance pushrods to put this back together with.

I used to run a road grader for a living, and I still get a kick out of how well my 50” mid mount grader blade works on the dirt road I live on.

I would check cam timing at least. All this happened at once. Cam gear pin may have sheared. I don't buy the fact that stock pushrods are barely adequate. I read that bent pushed are common, but there's an underlying issue.

Morning all Took a while but finally made enough room in the corral for all four, now it is hard to hide them ...my addiction has been revealed..... First words from my daughter on walking in..... "hmmm I see FOUR steering wheels Dad, with tractors attached" My thought was "no problem" now I can get two more for the trailer.... I made a small dolly for the rear of the B100 Hydro to make it easier to slide up into its new parking spot. When I lifted the rear end by the trailer hitch I was able to investigate what I thought was a bad axle seal..... crap....I got about a half inch of movement in the left side axle,,,,, hope it didn't tear up the rear end housing.... that will be a surprise for later in the fall. Excuse the mess but it is the first time I got all four housed and put away.....I'm slowly winning the quart in a pint jar dilemma- but losing the battle of Wheel Horse addiction.... Mike B

It is probably not the fault of the voltage regulator, they tend to fail to the high voltage side rather than low voltage. Take a couple minutes to inspect, clean and tighten all electrical connections including grounds. The start windings and the generator windings are separate so ability to start doesn't imply ability to charge. With engine running should be between 13.5 and about 14.5. If voltage while running is the same as off then do this quick test. Take a small wire hook one end to a good ground and the other touch to the F (field) terminal on the generator. You may hear the engine slow a bit and the voltage should go up to about 14. If it does your problem is in the voltage regulator. if there is no improvement then the problem is most likely with in the generator itself

Drove it around the yard with the deck on. Sounds good and cuts decent . The made it thru the first round of cleaning. going to have to get the hood stand welded by the lift arm and the deck fixed. Normal rot around the front roller.

OK guys, don't get your shorts in a bunch. Gee's Jim, I was gonna wait till I mounted it on a tractor to show pictures. I had inquired about a center blade that was part of a package sale. Seller said that he was going to wait to see if the package sold and to hit him up in a couple weeks. I patiently waited about 4 weeks before I contacted him again. At that time he was willing to part with the blade and offered it at a price that I could not refuse. It's in pretty good shape. I can't wait to be able to play with it.

Tell ya what I think the best implement for a horse is a mid mount blade. I get why Dan @Achto was so stiff for one. Just wished I woulda had one when I had a gravel drive but still use it in the back lots. Tire ruts and spinouts grade right out!

You’re going to at least want to use map gas . I used oxy-acetylene and others acetylene with a turbo torch head . I never used flux just clean joints and the parts a nice orange color and many years of practice. This was for AC lines which I didn’t want contamination from the flux .

A bit more progress as the weather permits. Had major problems sourcing the cladding, had to drive into England to get some and even that wasnt enough to complete the job.

There is no stator behind the flywheel on an S/G engne so power from lights has to come from battery Ignition switch or L terminal of the regulator. Just t be sure here what is the spec number of your engine Also I would go with a volt meter as opposed to ammeter. A failed ammeter is a show stopper...a failed volt meter a inconvenience.

Ooooh man, so short before final, that ain‘t fair. Thought the same about eyesight, can you make a short vid pointed to the Rocker arm while cranking to see what‘s happen, or does it hurts anything? never heared before that „pumping“ noise, but in the pict i also didn‘t see any troubles on first view. was the Pushrod completely cracked or does it just hung by a stuck valve or similar? but however it sounds it can be fixed relativeley simply. I‘m crossing my finger‘s that it be a simple Fix after all the Work you have done.

Is there a 4th lug on the bottom of the regulator? If there is a wire should run from there to The A terminal on the generator. It is confusing since that wire doesn't show up on the wiring diagrams in the owners manuals. (It was a Kohler part and delivered as part of the engine/starter Generator package). 3 or 4 terminal regulators may be used on these units. If is a three terminal regulator they will be marked F Field, BAT, and GEN. and all must have a wire connected to them. If it is a 4 Terminal. The on the bottom may be marked GEN or A (for armature) the three up top will be F BAT and L Load. The Load one may or may not be used usually runs to the lighter or light switch. More info on you hydro unit here

Josh ol buddy you tell that boy that waaaaaay back before the yeee-ah 9 teeen hunnertt etty foe-uh things was very very different for us human folk. The personal computer wasn't even a thing yet. We were still walking to school as much as two whole miles in one direction. And half the Earth was in the dark everyday all at the same time . Car companies back then had these crazy names like Plymouth. Oldsmobile. And Datsun...... Life back then was raw edged and rough and tumble. Children still played outside and we had these things called bicycles and we rode around on them. It was nuts. Absolutely nuts.
