Thought I’d share a few pictures of my 1956 Economy Tractor. Just finished a total restoration -the rear rims. Runs like a top! Gotta say I love Kohler but they have nothing on the early cast iron Briggs’s.

I have a Simplicity 727 That someone replaced the 7hp to an 8hp, I still call it my 727 and it still has 727 badging and not 728. When I pull up to a red light and the guy next to me thinks its only a 7hp and I blow by him, thats when they know it was an 8 !!! Its a " sleeper "

Knew it was going to rain today (and it is really hard) so yesterday brought up the new style deck and mule dive to fit to my Charger 16. All went well until I figured I had the wrong lift rod . need the 1/2" one that was part of the front hitch kit. I have one I am pretty sure but it is up in the storage shed several hundred feet away. Next project...

Jay, were you in the cantaloupe patch this morning ? Thanks for the @roadapples . They picked all day yesterday. And all day today during the hurricane that dumped 3-4" of rain.

Well the Simplicity is finished and I have to say that I am pretty impressed with it. If you read the story earlier you know that I got this for free at a garage sale. Damn near killed me trying to drag it from the garage out to the street and into my truck. Got it to a friends house and found out it wouldnt turn over with the key, but wrapped a rope around it and would fire. Long story short, it had a bad solenoid and a bad neutral safety switch. So by passed the safety switch, new solenoid, new battery, new fuel lines and filter, soldered holes in the gas tank, soaked the carb and new carb kit, new air filter, new spark plug, and fresh oil and lube it runs like a swiss watch. Soon as you turn the key it fires up. It is supposed to have a 7hp Briggs but it is an 8hp. The tires were all flat and the beads broke when I dragged it but all holding air fine now. It is all original paint and just look at those original hub caps and chrome bumper! I havent tried to hook up the snow blower but I am assuming it will work fine as everything is there and it all spins freely. Even has the rear wheel weight. Just wish it had the mowing deck. Going to look for a good replacement seat for it. I have the original but it was in poor shape so I put this old Wheel Horse seat on it. 50 year old tractor looks pretty good and runs even better.

We went last Saturday and cut some poplar trees to cut for use on the tool room our club is building. We finally got our mill set up and going. It’s powered by an IH power unit - basically the same unit found in Farmall M tractors. Started out great - until the lacing started to come out of our new belt! That sucker sounded like an angry honey badger as it thrashed about and came apart. Luckily we only lost some decking, boogered up the fuel tank straps on the unit, and broke the throttle lever off. If anyone had gotten in the way of the belt or debris, it would have been an instant trip to the hospital or worse! After we fixed the belt, the blade guides came loose and allowed the blade to contact the carriage heads. Another hour of sweeties g and filing and we were ready to go. Ran really sweet after the train wreck of a start we had. We got all of our logs sawed and found just a few more things that need tweaking. Not too bad for a 150 year old mill (with power unit update).

About 6 weeks ago removed the motion control assembly and completely disassembled it. Today cleaned all shafts and associated parts, picked up new nyliner plastic bushings for reassembly and anything else that appeared worn. Cleaned and painted PTO parts and E-brake hardware. Polished pto rod housing, mule drive, motion control and trans engage/ disengage lever for the 420. Getting closer to a trail ride test run.

hey guys im repainting the "horse of a different color" need an opinion. Its originally a 656 with a 6 horse tecumseh in it but i dropped in an 8hp kohler k181 with electric start. Would you guys keep it original and put the 656 decals on it or would you put 856 decals on it since its an 8 horse now?

must have a special stealth exhaust system on there to muffle all that extra power

I finished up the ramp for my Uncle. I had no idea how many uses the charged M18 battery had before this job, but one battery managed to shoot every screw, until there were 2 boards left!

I thought I'd share a picture of on a lesser known odd-ball here that I just aquired in a big "horse-trade" with a good friend. This is a 1955 Garden-All Pup that was a relatievely new, small rider introduced by Garden-All to compete to some degree with the new Wheel Horse RJ35 at the time. It's a very petite little tractor with a variable speed drive, using cable steering and powered by either a Clinton 1100 like mine, or a Kohler K90, both engines with 6:1 gear reductions and an optional Schnacke recoil on them. Garden-All sold the Pup in multiple varations (hood styles) from 1954-1960 until Wheel Horse bought the company for the realestate and manufacturing capabilities. This Pup has what's known as the "mailbox" style hood and is in remarkably execellent all original condition.

Nothing like the thump of a 16hp Kohler, congrats

A small gas engine. Most of their implements have engines to run the hydraulics or mechanics. They only use horses to pull the equipment.
  18. 3 points
    Is that a 4 or 8 speed B-160?

You made a great job on that ramp Kevin 👍 it must be tested and approved with a Wheelhorse. 😎 Edit - not to be missanderstood - i trust your build 100% no doubt about it but it must be confirmed with a Pic for the official WHCC- R.A.M.PP Comitee. All other is no R.A.M.PP conform .. 😂😂😂 just for a stylish approval 🤪

my uncle is not a small guy. I needed to make sure it was plenty stable! As for Milwaukee, I can!t say enough good about it!

Nice job on the ramp! I have that same driver and it gets used for everything!!! Great unit!

Nice upgrade! Many years ago I converted my 1976 B-80 that I bought new to a C-160. I immediately removed the B-80 decals on the steering tower and that's the way it is still today. I always figured to have Terry make up replacements designated B-160 but never got around to it. I figured it would be fun to raise some eyebrows. I'm with Eric on coming up with something different just for the fun of it.

Happy Birthday Glen! I hope you have a great day today! The Red Square Crew is much better because of you!
  27. 3 points
I'd mix it up a little bit and do both, kind of. Have Terry the vinyl guy make you up some stickers that have a forward or back slash through the original 6 and put an 8 beside it.

And I ain't talkin the drag @squonk usually gets up in! Northern Tool ..little over 200 clams & had a free shipping coupon. Hooked it up to the plow mule for a test run. Works pretty good but won't dig up weeds and will clog up with field trash. Wished I woulda had it when my workin gal was here @pullstart Way more effective than a bed spring. Will work good on a fresh plowed field tho. Thoughts are to have a few bros over for a heart attack loaf and some plow tuning then use it and plant some deer food. @Achto @PeacemakerJack

I was close before, throw a swim tyre to my potatoes.. 😎 to save the rest they survived until now. we have such a mass of snails this year like never before.🙄🤬 They rotten the half potato field and allmost all pumpkins, cucumbers in the Glashouse, even onions and the small sweetpotatores i try this year first time on a separate place. They also damaged the whole Flowercircle i planted on my new Area for the Bee‘s 3 meters in diameter. i liked to show here proud my first harvest, but now nearly all plants damaged by this anti Christ. i can find at least snail on each squaremeter, eeeeeekkk. Even the neighbour told me they never had seen so many of Snails like this year. Firstly too dry - bad for the wheat, now too cold and too rainy. Most fields here looks more like sea‘s than Fields. Our Firefighter‘s here are working nonstop to drain all the basements. Lord bless them all, all over the World. Hope this weekend gets better Weather, if so i will mowed all the Snails down to the ground.. 8 Gal. of Fuel is prepared for Snail hunting and Blades in the Deck are extremely Sharpened. pressurewasher is still also prepared for cleaning the Deck after the „ Show“..😎

230 for sure. Lol. I was already contemplating calling mine phyco Billy

The deck looks pretty sharp Paul. Fits nicely to the machine. 👍

Well since you already destroyed a piece of history, you might as well just badge it JD or Cub. . Hahahahahahahaha you know some purest is thinking it. But Just kidding . I'd probably keep the 656. But I'm the guy who took the original green vinyl out of my 78 Ford, I could not find a replacement so I went back with carpet and made.sure to put a few cut OE peices underneath. Just in case I redid or someone else got it, they would know what it was meant to have.

Quoted for truth. Also this: Many of the reasons you stated is why i like them...the one i have has good sheetmetal, but the motor was/is nogo...like you think, itll be gettin a Kohler when its spot to be brought back is up. Its next on the list, after i get my 160 squared away😉

856 gets my vote Gordy just to confuse us which doesn't take much these days .. you get the rest in RED that's gonna be one sharp tractor! Living proof there EB ..the wrong color does come off! Actually that's not a bad Idea EB 6856...

Maybe have @Vinylguy set you up with a custom "6/856" decal set...

Maybe attached around the edges of a fishing net to keep it spread out when thrown into the lake or river ? Or, if they were farmers, 🚜, and any farmers that I know, are a bit “careful” when it comes to spending the hard earned, 👛. Perhaps they were homemade ‘earrings’ for his wife. 🧖‍♀️.

He probably from a little old lady that only drove it on Sundays Bob... ... still a nice ride tho. Just something that can't be denied about those older Briggs tho.

Just wanted to share pictures of the latest additions to our Wheel Horse collection. A good friend of mine and I recently did some "horse-trading" and as a result, I ended up with a few tractors that I'm really proud to add to our growing "mini museum". The pictures are fairly high resolution so I'll add a few to the post below. The first is a 1956 RJ-25 clone. The tractor began life as a 1956 RJ35 and my friend, Mark searched out all of the authentic components to restore it as a RJ25 including a 1956 Briggs 8 engine with correct RJ gas tank stand, Schnacke recoil, period correct tires, muffler, etc. The steering wheel isn't quite correct however I have a correct cast iron wheel that I'll eventually put on it. The other is an original, first year 1962 32E Lawn Ranger. I really don't collect post 1961 models, but this tractor to me is historically significant being the first year Lawn Ranger with 1962 specific charactoristics such as the solid front tires. I'm really proud to add these to our collection!

Excellent pics Dan.. in the few years I have been in attendance I would have thought it would be like going to Sturgis, same stuff different year. This place it's not like that. Always a new angle or a different piece.
