12 pointsSo I have many people ask me if I can do such and such work. Many times, I say yes... though I haven’t actually done that work. I’ve operated numerous pieces of hydraulic equipment over the years and have always wanted to get into the big stuff. I had a call, asking to clear a few acres of land. Cleanup is not necessary, just piled off to the edges will work. Sounds like I’ll be in the seat of a 104 hp JD 650K Dozer/Ripper in the next week. To say I’m excited... is an understatement!

7 pointsPicked up a snow blade for free! My uncle Don had it for his 312 8 but rarely used it.

6 pointsWell folks. I've got a buddy at work who has a liking for machinery in general. He has had muscle cars in the past. Done some mechanical work here n there. Couple years ago now I guess our boss gave him a light-duty lawn tractor that is made by Noma corporation. 18 horse Briggs twin. Cast aluminum 5-speed transmission. No mowing deck. He uses it to tow trailers of wood or leaves around the yard. He's been over to the house a time or two and has and appreciation of what a Wheelhorse tractor is. So this morning he comes up to me and he says, Man did I have a weird dream last night! I'm like. Oh boy. This is going to be good. He says, I had a dream that I was in a basement somewhere for a job site doing a delivery and they had three Wheelhorse tractors! He goes on to tell me about how one of them had a really big round emblem almost like a spare tire on the front of it and it said Wheel on the top and Horse on the bottom. He's like oh no!! I don't even have one of these and I think I might have a problem. I told him I'd run it by you folks. See what you said.....

6 pointsBuilt a corral for Cindy's 702. Not sure but I think Tom @Shynon or his boy Mike @prondzy suggested this for shows to keep unruly kids off. Bad news is she developed a clutching issue that needs sorting out. Oh well.

6 pointsAgree with most of what is said above other than Jim and Kevin and the shower stuff Durability, longevity, and simplicity which is found in a machine that can make a TON of memories for a whole family should a person keep it long enough... 1978 1983 2015 and... a couple of weeks ago! Thanks Dad for never getting rid of the Iron Horse 875...

6 pointsI got the mufflers in the mail today. Basically baby glasspacks. Patriot Exhaust Company H3121. They measure only 1-5/8" OD x 12" long. Six rows of flutes down through and into the "sound absorption material". They'll most likely be used as little stacks but the rest of the stack is yet to be determined.....

6 pointsIt was fun to get some wrenching time on @Coulter Caleb‘s JackRabbit (418-C). Last fall it was giving more trouble starting and I could tell that the PTO safety switch was on its way “out”. If I wiggled the PTO lever, I could get it to fire over. About three weeks ago we couldn’t get it to engage. I don’t recommend this...BUT...I bypassed everything by using a pair of jumper cables directly from an auxiliary battery to the starter and touch the black to the tractor battery with the key in the run position. It started every time but it was a MASSIVE PAIN to deal with and so I ordered the new safety switches and we put them in today. I would’ve taken pics but it was a pretty straightforward part exchange with the only headache being the rusted bolts. Once it was back together, tested the function and it worked great👍🏻! It had been awhile since I had done much cutting with JackRabbit and so I took a few passes in the back and Caleb captured them. I was reminded again why I like this tractor so much!!! Has anyone ever found or used a high vacuum blade with these 48”SD decks. This tractor could easily cut at 6-7mph in our lawn if the blades pulled the grass up into the deck cleanly. One of these days, we will give this thing a fresh coat of paint and get some custom decals from @Vinylguy we will eliminate the silver from the color palette and stick with red, black, and antique white!

5 pointsI've mentioned that I am usually right around five years old. Trina is about the same. As you can well imagine our level of extreme maturity dictated that we needed to hold a muffler up to our faces and yell in and out of them to see what the sound decrease would be. They definitely produce a deep tone. I'm looking forward to hearing what they sound like on the engine...

5 pointsKev, 30 years ago when my brother cleared his 5 acres he used an excavator and a Kamatsu dozer. He was a supervisor for a large road company and he and the owner were and still are good friends. So the owner let him use the equipment during their two week Christmas break. Anyway he gave me a quick down and dirty lesson on the dozer and off I went, he was pulling up trees and brush and I was pushing it into big plies, and filling the holes in. Still one of the best four days of my life . I told him this is the job I want, he said first couple of years are fun after 20, not do much. Enjoy It.

4 pointsI’m so jealous! Many years ago when I was an electrician I was asked by a landscaper if I would move topsoil with a Bobcat for a weekend for cash under the table. For some reason he thought I was experienced with skid steers, I didn’t tell him I could barely spell Bobcat let alone run one ! But I figured it out pretty quick and the property was level so flipping it wasn’t an issue and it turned out to be the best 12 hours ever!!!

4 pointsMy Dad and I bought are first 1975 B 80 together, so that made it a lasting memory. I needed to mow his yard and my own. I would lift it onto my pickup I put in gear, lifted up the front and put it on the tailgate. Than get out from under it and lift the back end up and shoved it into the truck.. every week and take it to his house to mow and than visit with him. He was near the end at 85 and we would sit out on his porch and reminisce about hunting and fishing. I finally got tired out of hauling it back forth and bought another one..I only remember it has a Kawasaki engine... The funny part is after he passed and my mom sold the house to one of my sister's...I still went there every week for 2 years (summers) and mowed her grass with the B 80...I finally got around to asking her if she was going to have her husband or son start mowing... She acted exasberated and said Oh Ok...where is the key...wasn't to happy when I told her I was taking the B 80 home...she figured it came with the house... lol So it's all the memories that are intertwined with our WH's. That make them memorable.

4 pointsOk I'm going to ask this because I've done this. Is the battery reconnected? Also if this tractor has an ammeter, check it's connections

4 points@ebinmaine Problem solved. Never too old to play in the dirt ya know.....
-
4 pointsRichard...that’s the same way with old Rusty, my 1054-A... Hasn’t been out one single night since I brought him home last year but I expect that PO’s had him out quite a bit through the years. It still remains a mystery that the steering wheel, seat, and controls are in as good of shape as they are considering the heavy patina of the metal...I hadn’t run him in a couple of weeks and so last night took him for a trot around the property to look at the fruit trees before the heavy rain settled in and then tucked him back in the stable😁
-
4 pointsAll of that and more! The torque that the transmitions put out, the simplicity of them, the easy repairs plus the fact that I have lots of family that have owned and worked on them. My 867 is also my first real garden tractor.
-
4 pointsI'm talking the horse and not the owner walkin out in the rain with a bar of soap!
-
4 pointsSeat switch wouldn't have saved @Buzz, the PTO would have to be on for the seat switch to work. Clutch switch and neutral/safety switches wouldn't have been any help, they only work when starting the engine. Slip-on shoes would have saved the day, dangling shoe laces can't be made safe by any switch I know of.
-
3 pointsWe have used Irish spring soap to keep deer, rabbit's, and woodchuck out of our garden's with good results. Shave thin strips off all around the boundary, reapply depending on rain washing it away or if you can't smell it.

3 pointsSo today we got the pto safety switch for JackRabbit...Then me and Dad got that put on it felt good to give it the TLC it deserves! It is so cool to think that 2 years ago we got the tractor and started to get it running! Seeing Dad cutting on it means a lot to me...Knowing all that Dad has done for me with this tractor I’ve made so many amazing memories I will never forget!!! (And it’s a pretty cool tractor!!!)

3 pointsMowed with the 418 A.....Adjusted the air pressure in all of the other Horses tires.....Took off the blades from the 312 deck, going out for sharpening.....inspected the 37 inch deck blades, they have a weird lift wing attached to them for the bagger....think im going to replace them . Finally...adjusted the stack on the 1257, with the new lock nuts I bought from a place that deals with over priced...ultra heavy duty electrical stuff. Was worth every penny, these lock nuts are twice if not more than 3 times thicker than Home CHEAPO Chinese electrical items,,,and they were twice the price. BUT THE HORSES ARE WORTH IT !!!!! We only live once, so enjoy the moment, listen to the bop, bop, bop bop, bop and love your machines. Seal and Crofts were right when they said.....".We may never pass this way again" ...I believe they were right.. Love what you do and do what you love...……………..

3 pointsSimple every time I cut my lawn the old timers (like me) slow down or stop completely wave and/or smile with a twinkle in their eyes...….. no speech or text necessary.....!

3 pointsThis looks like it would be a good start. I've seen a couple of guys fabricate a mount similar to a factory unit. https://www.harborfreight.com/10000-watts-max-7200-watts-rated-belt-driven-generator-head-45416.html

3 pointsEasy to do so try another condenser. It is connected to the (-) side of the coil? and the metal condenser body requires a ground. Garry
-
3 pointsHonestly it's this forum! WH, CC, JD and many others are all good machines, but this forum is what kept me with Wheel Horse. I have Cub and they have some things better than WH, but WH has some features better than CC. The cub forums either are not very active or is very tightnit and not welcoming. I would rather hang my hat here and use the others for reference. WH has a lot more variety the some other brands too. Randy
