Hooked on to the trailer after work this evening and went to pick up the tractor I traded my John Deere mower for the first part of the week. Turned out to be a 1067. I know the coil is bad but other than that not sure yet. Will probably work on it some in the morning

You left out an important multiple in that equation: The wife factor! You have to divide one of those numbers into it. I think it's the money number!

And here I thought all along it was: The square root of the number of 's ever made multiplied by the number of 's you can fit in your garage divided by the amount of money you have to spend on 's plus how fast (in minutes) you can get to the latest CL add for a must have ...

This is what I found yesterday. Working on replacing an axle seal, I was very much surprised to find out the PO used JB Weld to hold / repair a worn hub. An interesting thing was the epoxy was the reason the seal failed. If the PO would have been more careful, I think the thing would have lasted a long time. When they installed the worn hub It allowed the epoxy to get pushed back into the seal area. The hardened epoxy ruined the seal,. I had to use a puller to remove the hub, and it did not come easy for the entire length of the shaft. Measuring the hub it was about .003 loose. Amazing stuff old JB! I did not get any pictures of the epoxy, but the puller is a front wheel drive bearing puller I got on the bay on the cheap. It works well.

2 Weeks before Mike, one of my best Buddy‘s and Beekeeper ask me, if i could help him, there was no doubt or hesitation at my Side. He want‘s to breakup a Soil close to a Forrestborder, that was relatively fresh harvested by his Father last Year and in first step we just shall cut a bit out a sideline with the Sicklebar. this stripe is not really wide, just 4m and only about 30m long, but he wants to seed Bee Feed for his honey bees. Ok a plan was made at a beer, than we started the weekend later with the first Action. When we cleaned out with the Sicklebar, most of the grass and even few bushes. Than we tried my doubleaction Plow, but i doubt if it will do that Hardcore Job. Ok, that was too much pulling force for that plow while too much bigger roots still into soil. So we just prepared finally a smaller area aside ahead, that we can immediately finish. So 2 Weeks later, the Seed looks like this. That’s the view of today, the Seed grows and we get ready to rumble for the larger area. He mentioned 2 Weeks agou when my Plow is failed, he maybe have an old bigger Horse plow in his Barn, But firstly we decides to try my doubleaction plow, but it was as feared too weak for that Soil and give up because the plowbeam bends. 😎 Ok, this can be fixed, but Mike has to solve his problem so he do yesterday a Ride to his Barn and we pickup the plow. It seems massive enough to do that Job. Back on place we had to finish our Job, in hope my little Machine (Beast) can it finish because of just 13 HP. that thing has 9“, and is about 80- 100 Years old. no exactly Datas available, but it was from his Grandpa, he bought as a young Man and use it sometimes with 3 oxen. That thing should last. I mount the Forkplatform, where we have a massive mount for 2 Chains added. ( in the Pict the Fork was mounted for Transport) we hook it for a Testdrive in the lower 3 point and than we try to pull it through the Soil. Mike does the handle on the Plow i drive the Beast. Before that Try, we resharpened the precutter like a Razorblade with an choping angle of about 43deg. So we hope, we can cut the Roots ahead and dig it maybe out. This prepare ahead was a good idea while the precutter worked as we hoped. The Beast needs definitively all time the 4WD, all grip what the extremeley sharp Tyres give and even some Frontweight includig Diff Lock at 2.nd Gear 3/4 Thottle but it pulls that thing completeley through Soil. Sometimes it begins to dig with all 4 Wheels, what was really impressive, but no stall at the Engine and after a louder crack, it comes back to movement again. We hear Several louder Cracks - unbelievable noises while cutting the Roots and we was able to remove them. After the plow we tilled the Soil several times and removed the rest of the roots they digged out. The tiller looked after 3 meters of tilling like a Wireharnes was riped out of the Soil. we have to clean it several times, but also here the Friction Clutch does a real good Job. We was a bit in a hurry, because the Weather seems to rain immediately, so we just took this few Picts. At least i remixed the seed under the Soil few times as Mike want‘s on the whole area. Curious how fast that seed will grow, because if we finished it starts to Raining cats and dogs. So the „Feed for the Honey Bees“ job is well done. Edit huh, forget to tell, what has this Action to do with a Wheel Horse? That simple, Mike inherit me that Plow for my 656 Wheelhorse i get soon 😁👍 a Horse plow for the Plow Horse maybe.. edit end

This morning, I got engine and trans oil for my new '89 310-8. When I drained the trans, I kinda got sad. The fluid look way worse than the dipstick showed. Flush required. Thankfully, my neighbor and best friend has a diesel tractor, so I stole 2 quarts from him and flushed the trans. Up on blocks, 5 minutes per gear, high/low. Drained it and added an ancient quart of 80W I would never use on a good machine. I have no idea where it came from lol... Ran that up on blocks and drained it. Ugly, ugly fluid still coming out. Stole another 2 quarts of diesel from my neighbor (I'll pay him in beer later), run it ~20 minutes, drained it. Not too bad. All I had left for spare oil was the extra quart of 5W-20 for the overdue oil change on my car. Sorry Honda, Wheel Horse wins. Ran that through, drained it, nose high in the sky, clean oil comes out. Wheee! Let her drain for a good long while, dropped the nose and changed the engine oil. Drove her around for a good spell, and all fluids looked sparkly clean on the dipsticks. Here are the first pics from my yard. I haven't cleaned anything yet, just mechanical/electrical work. Look pretty good for $300. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipMzpoFxKSMOgcipFQcsQ_S98ns6yh7eXoratn1ki5UsGwZ9E01-ELnA8RaZy8HdpQ?key=QkQzNG5RRWJCUjh0V1R3M2hpLVhmTzE2RG5kT293

Hey guys I’m back! Now that I finally have time to post let me tell you what has been done on Comanche these past few days... So after we took the original engine out we started working on the new engine. So we were trying to decide what we were going to name the engine(because the Stertz’s name everything) So we thought about it and decided not to paint it all red but leave some parts gold...So the name of the engine(as you have probably guessed it already) is Ironman So we started by making sure the engine works. Me and Dad had gotten a pulley for Ironman so that we could use it but the crankshaft output was to big for the pulley so Dad grinded it down from an inch and an eighth to one inch. So after 30 minutes of grinding we finally got the pulley on the crankshaft. So we hooked it up to the tractor and took it out for a test drive!!! So now that we knew it ran well in the tractor we were ready to take it out to start painting So we took off the recoil starter and the air cleaner, then we covered the dipstick and the spark plug wire with tape to keep it gold. After taping everything that was necessary we primed and painted it!!! Today we put everything back together and untaped everything and it looks AMAZING (Meet our new engine Ironman!!!!) Love you Dad @PeacemakerJack!!! Thank you so much for helping and teaching me with this project

Here is my solution.... Did this about 6 years ago and is the perfect fix... Just drill a 1/8" hole in the soft steel rod and mount the return sping on the outside of the hoodstand. This is my C-160 Auto... Easy peasy fix.

Got a cool update for you today on the tractor. We delivered the tractor in September but we had a lot of rain in September. Then we had an early snow before Halloween in October. So she parked the tractor and left it until today. We went over there and went to get it started for her and give her a fresh tutorial on how to start and operate the tractor. So we go to start it and it has a very weak battery so we got Warrior( dad’s Chevy pickup truck) and used jumper cables to get it started. Dad then with that used the method of dumping gas in the carb. It would fire and run for 5 seconds then die abruptly. After 5-6 times me and Dad were getting very frustrated... So we thought we had tried everything and were about to give up when Dad suddenly took off the gas cap for the tank and the gas tank was bone dry... After we got over our headaches we filled the tank up and got it running for her. She had a great time mowing her horse paddock... It was great for both of us to see her, a long time horse lady, on her Wheel Horse taking care of her paddock. Dad started cutting but once she got on the tractor, she kept on going...

Maybe a wrong "clock position" when reassembled. Like Jonah says I wouldn't be too concerned as long as it doesn't touch to ground. May want a rubber/plastic cap on the lug.

Excellent point. I will propose establishment of a governmental commission to study the impact of such a change on the original calculation... Perhaps $1.2 million should fund the initial commission...? with more to follow post CV stimulus spending...

Steering column fix for 300 and 400 series tractors. Flange bearing no. 6472 Tie Rods I used 1/2" heims joints. Some I bushed down to 3/8" and some places I drilled out worn holes. I also went to the back side of the triangle as there isn't much room between the triangle and the axle. It doesn't efect the steerig if anything it improves it. Shiming the fan gear. There is always going to be some loose motion there . If you set it too tight you will be causing the gears extra wear.

After mowing the lawn yesterday and then getting a 1/2" of rain this morning made the perfect conditions for rolling the the lawn today. I hooked up my C-141 to the lawn roller that I got from @dclarke for some high speed action. I rolled my whole lawn in low 1. To take this picture I set the tractor on "auto pilot" and stepped off for a photo shoot. This C-141 is such a sweet running machine. I can hardly believe that I only paid $125 for it, plus I got a C-101 parts tractor included in the deal. What a great score. Denny, the roller works great!! The only change that I might make is to shorten the axle stubs a bit. I hooked them on a few things in the yard while I was rolling, nothing serious, just a couple of nicks.

Some time ago I aquired a Sears 3 Point with electric lift and the baseplate mount. i also got a Sears 3 point plow, grader blade, and disc. I found this picture on the internet, and wonderer if the owner was a member here, or anyone recognized it? I would like to see more pictures of how they attached it to the WH and a dimension of how far the mount extends in the rear of the WH

Been working on this on and off...I keep needing parts... Had to fiddle with the PTO mount...Put on the throttle cable (not pictured) and the After market Air Cleaner needed a spacer. It came with a little bracket to hold the choke lever on. The pre filter (That gets coated with oil) fit from the OEM filter. Ordered a bag to go over the filter for added cleanliness from a go cart parts place. Drove it around a little and tested the PTO, working fine. I broke the engine in for 3 hours when I got it and changed the oil, so its ready to go. Have an ez hose to put on at the next oil change. Oh and a couple of OHV filters on order. Working on exhaust next...and than rear wheel seal. Anyone have a link for the front wheel bearing? The passenger side wheel seems ready to fall off, the bearing is so bad.

Hi Dave, I don‘t know to much about his bees wich type or variety they are, he‘s my Buddy and if he needs my help, there is no asking. additionally i can test my Rig and if it fail‘s we have a Plan B. Sometimes i get selfmade honey from him, that is a excellent quality. I know just that 8 hives at his fathers property and 6 on his property. yesterday the catched another hive in neighbours Tree. This was at his Fathers house, it is impressive the sound of the bees can be heared, even if my Tractor run‘s. But it’s also Quite a bit scary if you pass the hives and hear that Sound in background. I be glad they be friendly, maybe they know we will feed them. 😁

I have recently purchased a 420 lse from the original owner.. mower is in fantastic shape wondering what its worth to a collector.. as we have a few acres and I don't see using something this rare to do so..no rust just needs cleaned up ran until 1 month ago went to move from barn to barn.. likely just a wire or something stupid rolled over like a champ.. 20 hp kholer , tons of chrome.. at any rate whats the value of something like this.. comes with tons of original tools as well yard roller ect. also all in working order. the yard tools could use refinishing.

Thanks guys for all your responses! I’m going to go with Dave’s method and mount the spring on the outside. I actually thought about but didn’t see a good way to mount a spring. Now I do! And now it’s fixed!👍🏻

Depends on the swmbo. Some, so I hear, have a low tolerance quotient number for what is incorrectly considered "optional machinery" or things that don't directly benefit them. That too must be considered in some or several parts of the equation.

Well continued receiving parts in the mail today. Im telling you its like Christmas. Today I got two packages. One from my buddies at K and B Horse Parts. This time they sent me brand new front lens for the C-161 and a new air filter assembly. The lens looks teriffic, old one was obviously broken. The air cleaner is a little different then the one I am removing. The plate is the same that screws to the carb but the dish is not as deep. Does anyone know what size filter I am going to need with the new dish on it? Part # perhaps ? Here is a photo of the plate I took off. Hanging on by a thread. Do you think thats cause by the " shaker " mounts? The second package was the rear lens. That was the good news. Bad news is that the lights are not working again. Thought I had it figured out but it keeps blowing fuses. Looks like I have something to do tomorrow. Maybe its the switch... I dunno but the little glass fuses are starting to add up !! I also picked up a Rubbermaid Riding Mower Shed. I got it for my mother some years ago served its purpose well. She wanted it gone so I brought it to my house....... you know what that means dont ya .......???
