Well fellas since I had to sell off my Wheel Horses I felt like I didnt belong anymore. The Lambert and the Speedanza are cool but THIS IS a Wheel Horse Fourm. Well guess what....... Im back in ! Picked this up a little while ago. Saw it on CL and jumped right on it. Not a model I know anything about but it does say Wheel Horse on the side of it ! I am so excited to have it and the best part is that it runs and drives!!! It does need some work... I think the hydro is leaking as a saw a puddle of oil on top of the deck. Checked the dip stick and was hardly any in there. When you raise the deck it seems to come up higher on one side then the other. Seat is horrible, someone glued vinyl on it. Front head light lens busted, rear one is busted and no lights work. came with wheel weights for the rear but nothing else. Still trying to figure it out. I just got it home and off the truck. As usual any info I would love to hear about it. I dont know the year, I believe thats a 16 hp Kohler, not sure but it runs really good. Not a fan of driving it by a stick, seems like something you have to get used to then maybe like. Right now it just seems funny but I only did a little lap in my yard. I think I got a smoking good deal on it that makes me even happier.

Dielectric grease is silicone-based product that is NOT electrically conductive and will not mix with water. It is a non-curing product that will remain flexible and will not harden so it will continue to seal out moisture and oxygen eliminating the potential for corrosion.

Pulled the tiller off of the 312-8 and put the mower deck back on because the wife wanted to help me mow. I hooked up the new to me dethatcher that I picked up last week just to test it out. It was a fun morning of outdoor work together.

I know the weekend is not over, but what better way to give thanks to all that have served, and remember those that paid the ultimate sacrifice for us to be able to have our freedoms. I had the opportunity yesterday and today (with 2 of my buddies) to take the Battleline Tactical Concealed/Defensive Pistol Training course with Kris "Tanto" Paronto who is best know to us from the movie 13 Hours:The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. The movie depiction of him (minus the height of the actor) is spot on. Very down to Earth guy and loves to joke around and lighten the mood, but gets down to business when it's time to get down to business. His other 2 trainers are the same way. It was a great course and I learned a lot. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who has a conceal carry license. Not only did we cover conceal carry topics, but also covered personal defense and car jacking situations and other defensive situations. I have had this Roper tiller for sometime now, it ran, but I had no way of using it behind any of my horses. So I decided to build a 3 point hitch to carry it. The pickup points on the tiller seems to be too far back in relation to the top link mount, so I added new ones, further forward and lower. My original idea was for a hydraulic system, but because of the rear mounted fuel tank the geometry for lift arms, top link and lift arms was looking very awkward to sort out without having the whole lot hanging too far out the back. The semi-circular cutout just behind the original hitch mounting lug on the transmission was for a small cylindrical hydraulic tank, the system was to have a hand pump. A 12v winch system was eventually decided upon. The towing hitches when fitted are too long and foul the lift arms cross brace so have to be removed to use the three point, the clevis hitch will reverse and fit under the lower mounting Chanel but the ball won't. The winch system seems to work ok on testing with the tiller, which weighs around 250 lbs! I will remove it for final tidying up and painting, more detailed pics to follow when off the tractor.

Not forgetting the ones that never came home such as the ones in this beautiful place in Italy.

I’ve got a happy kid. We sanded and painted the adjustable weight bar. Got it installed just after lunch.

I worked on this video of hooking up the tiller on the 502 last week. It is surely not meant to fit, but it works!

I got my receiver hitch welded together today. Tested it out by jockying the pontoon around the yard - while the welds were still warm. And, since I know it bugs some of you, I'VE GOT NUBS! Got a question, too. I looked up the C-195 on Tractordata.com, and noticed that it listed the rear wheel size as 15". Is that true?

Got the Patriot Horse out of semi retirement so Trina's mom would have a tractor all her own!!!! Moved the seat way waay waaaaay forward.... Chucked in a battery and filled the tires. Started right up without even any choke...

absolutely use dielectric grease an all your electrical contact areas . i use the SUPER LUBE squeeze tube type , i also added another battery cable ground from engine mounting bolt / frame to battery grounding area ,with dielectric grease. found that to eliminate any issue , and added that cable to all 3 of my horses. pete

I use dielectric grease on all electrical connections including batteries.

Change of plans on the fork setup. I decided to weld DOM tubing on top of the forks and then be able to slide them on 1" solid bar. Cut and milled 1" of the sides of the forks and cut 9" of the tops to reduce the weight. Founds some cut plates at the scrap yard fof the ends and center. Finished the weight box added a brace on back for the suitcase weights and a hitch.

This is actually the first rear, side, top, front discharge deck I have seen.

This gem showed up at my back door today. I used the 312H to drag it off the POs trailer. Hopefully I can get it ready to mow by Wed. The grass is getting high.

Any guesses ? It looks like it winched .... something , but it's in the middle of nowhere .

I agree, it looks like there may have been a bag of fertilizer placed on the left front tire and left there to leach out and dissolve the poor girl. It made a nice home for the critters. I haven't been able to turn the crank yet. I'll pull the head tomorrow. Can't get the 8 speed out of 3rd gear either. Maybe tomorrow with a bigger bar.

that’s an incredible statement right there! I can’t imagine what you’ve endured and to see you proud of what you faced and take that mask with a Hell Yeah attitude... that’s something else! Unfortunately I have known too many people to go through chemo and radiation but haven’t ever heard it told like that. Get some GUNK engine cleaner. Remove the seat pan and go to town. Get all the fins clean. Use Mobil ! oil.Make sure the plastic fan isn't missing a blade

Have a test light or voltmeter? The second it quits see if you have voltage at the coil (+) positive terminal with the key in the RUN position. Condenser is wired to the coil (-) terminal? The body of the condenser must be grounded to the chassis. If it is sitting on fresh paint the ground may be compromised. If you find power at the coil it may be fuel related. If the gas cap vented? Loosen it off to check. Garry

Most quality machine shops stamp the head and crank that have had work done. If previous work had been done they XX out the old and restamp with the new.

Lovely day here so testing my garden hammock to destruction. Neighbour decided it would be a good day to burn rubbish in his garden bin. I advised him strongly that not only was this against the law but also highly inconsiderate and ignorant. The fire was put out pronto. Back to the hammock...

This is the start of my weather vane project. Customer wanted the laser cut silhouette so that's what we went with. Spindle is mounted in a custom made ball bearing cassette so its low friction and long lasting. Just got to make the arms and letters now and we will be good to paint.

you should see if someone in your area sells rebuilt long blocks. This way you save buying the complete engine and you still get the satisfaction of using parts off your engine rather then trashing the whole tractor. just make sure the wheel horse spec with the correct length and diameter crank.

I painted the wheels satin black and the hubs/bolts bright red... The look is growing on me. I also put some nice stickers on it Then I used the gorilla cart to haul away some brush to the burn pile and took some loads from the gravel pit out to the woods Fixing some ruts we caused during spring mud season All in all a great wheel horse day!

Got tired of cleaning and changing spark plugs due to worn rings so pulled the engine out slapped in new piston and rings , lapped the valves and now its sweet as a nut ! have ran it in and its back to work now....

I loaned the ZTR to my wife’s boss. Picked it up today and noticed an old trailer in the weeds. Freebie! It doesn’t have a tailgate but the way it is shaped with the angled sides makes me wonder if it should be the dump box for my dump truck project...

I replaced the bearings and brushes on a Starter/Generator today. To hold the brushes in place while replacing the armature I used a short piece of 1 1/2" PVC pipe which is slightly larger than the commutator. As the armature was being inserted the PVC was pushed out and the brushes fell into place. Easy and inexpensive.

Good morning Ladies and gents. I have to replace a couple of leads and terminal ends on a commando. I'm thinking about dialectric grease or paste , and wonder whats recommended. Wondering also if its good stuff for fuse holders and pin connectors. Any suggested brands , do's don'ts ,or general advice. Thanks!

Unless your hauling a Detroit Diesel or @ebinmaine or @Stormin's logs your trailer wheels are fine.

Welcome. Make sure the vent in you r gas cap is clear. Try running it with the cap a bit loose. Vacuum can build up as tank empties and the pump cannot over come it.

Monetary market value. Maybe. That depends on your selling area. But the value of having an older machine that's going to last much longer than the new replacement throw away garbage far exceeds the monetary value. I would put $2,000 or even more into an old Wheelhorse all day everyday before I went out and spent twice that on a new mower.

@formariz First off thank you for your kind words. I appreciate every ones kindness and encouragement. I want to say again I didnt post any of this looking for pity or sympathy. I am no one special. I did nothing special. I did what every single one of you would have done if you were in my situation. In fact I believe some folks here most likely have endured greater hardships then mine. I was reflecting on the " 1 year ago" and how it seemed to me like yesterday in some ways but a long time ago in other ways. How fast everything changed, but how long it seems coming out of it. Also how I feel I am recovering physically at a much faster rate then I am mentally. My body can seem to take a lot of punishment, but my mind is pretty fragile.

Thanks so much for the welcomes!! One of my first jobs was working for a Wheel Horse dealer/lawn and garden center. And I finally got one!! It was a major score. Came from a collector that had 62, yes 62 Wheel Horse tractors. He used this one to mow a 1/4 acre. No smoke, fires right up, runs like a champ. Got it for $350!!!!! And as a bonus, my wife, who never cuts the grass told me to get off so she could run it!! She loves it too!!
