Kinda nice yesterday and I’m home not working so I took a few out so I could clean the garage. It’s time to get the deck and Peco vac on the 416-H.

If I put them back in there winter time hibernating places (sheds, basement and a couple in the garage) I have plenty of room for my truck. As long as my wife doesn’t seek her Explorer in there before me! I mostly need to put my truck inside in the winter because I have a sanding and snowplowing business. Sometimes in the summer it can end up looking like this!

There’s nothing wrong in the world when you’re a 10 year old on a tractor ride in the field!

After a bath they just couldn’t help it. Stay well my friends and use this time for a spring cleaning!

So it was time again to remove cab and blower which went unused this winter. Cab is really a pain by myself both to remove and to store. Not wanting to break it apart again, I thought of lifting it right off the tractor in one piece. Devised this simple rig attached to my collapsible lean-to. Worked really well. Removed cab in minutes. Simply unbolt it from tractor and lift one side a little each time until all the way up. Then simply drive tractor out. To install will just be the reverse. I may move this to a more permanent location eventually so I can lower lean-to if I have to.

Put a parking brake on my 702 Wheel Horse that was a new old stock one given to me by my friend D. J. Harrison (hcminnis on Red Square) . My 702 did not have one due to the clutch rod set up being different from original). But I managed to get it on and working with just a little bit of fine tuning in the grinder! also ran the 702 and 701 outside for a bit after getting nine of my tractors on one side of my garage- my side in other words- my wife’s other words!

Bill, not much shame here! Just took the Jeep to Mickey D’s for dinner and ice cream. Drove home through the field. Short cut, ya know? This is the thanks I get from Mrs. Pullstart... I can say I got her back, but it wasn’t mud up the nose and in the mouth

Hello Everyone! I am a American Motors car collector and had been looking for a Wheel Horse Tractor for a number of years to add to the collection. I found a 1974 C-160 a couple of years ago on my way to work and couldn't pass it up. It is functional and came with a mower deck and snow blade. This is my first Wheel Horse so I am looking forward to learning all kinds of stuff on this site! In addition to the AMC cars, I also have a small collection of Willys products. Included in the Willys theme, is a Empire Tractor which was built with the Willys drive train. Eventually.... I would like to take my Toy Tractors to some of the tractor shows and our local Tractor Cruise in. I live near a small town that is two blocks long in the middle of farm land and yes, we actually have a Tractor Cruise in in our down town. LOL!

I rebuild Kohlers so I’m a big fan of the old flatheads and have NOS Kohler parts everywhere. Over the years I’ve rebuilt several dozen of the onan performer series and while I like them the onan parts are extremely high dollar and I’ve sold off the vast majority of my NOS onan parts. The p220 on the 520 has been torn down inspected and parts replaced with new onan parts. At my age, and given that they have both been taken down to the frame and rebuilt, either one will last my lifetime. I put maybe 12 hours a year on each one every year. The c-160 does more the what I need to do so I’m leaning to selling “unicorn” 520-8. I was going to bring both to the big show this year and which ever one sold first I would take the other back with me or sell both and keep old reliable.

A little vehicle update in the fleet... we ended up finding a low mileage ‘15 Suburban and traded in the ‘11. It’s from Webster, NY and has been dubbed “Webster” The Jeep got to play a bit yesterday, we even took a trip to town for some essentials like a water pump, oil changes for the fleet, more latex gloves, etc. the kids stayed inside the door less Jeep while I did my ransacking of the parts store all safetied up.

Thanks Jim, yes AGs year round and quite honestly I'll say there is less if no damage to the lawn vs running turfs because I'm not slipping sliding and spinning out plus I live on a rolling hill and I do run fluid filled (rear only) and iron weights as well on all 3 of my horses (last 2 pics inside plus outside weights and fluid).

just serviced 3 of my pto bells with lucas h/d grease ,https://www.amazon.com/Lucas-Oil-Ounce-10301-Grease/dp/B000IG20RW i regularly keep an eye on things , all 3 were good , smooth and easy movement. i also greased up all the related pto lever ,movement points. even the mount point next to the battery tray . i added teflon and steel washers at that point , because it was so sloppy. nice and snug now , when you add the washers , it pulls in the lever on the out side of the consol , making for a very smooth and solid lever swing. just regular maintenance before the mower season , stay safe out there, pete

Apparently when you tell millions of people to stay home it has a direct impact on fuel prices. Here is a picture from my home town. On my way to support a local restaurant in a town 10 miles to the west of me I spied this sign. Plus my Shell rewards card knocked another 5 cents per gallon off. Honestly it has been a long, long time since I've filled a tank on a pickup truck for less than 20 bucks.

I have the tiller attachment for my WH's, but last year midway through gardening season, my neighbor gave me this '78 Montgomery Ward 5HP rototiller in exchange for taking down one of my trees that was overhanging his house. I figured since both the tiller and I needed some exercise, that I would do the whole garden with it. Also figured I would through in a video of fertilizing and overseeding with the 418-A. I started playing with exhaust parts to build a stack for “Steve”. Well, Rylee thinks Screamin’ Jimmy needs one too! I grabbed these stainless hand rails at the scrap yard the last time we hauled a car in.

Been a few dry days, so I thought I'd mow the green etc. Put the 42" deck on the C-125 and off we went. Oh no we didn't. The 125 was reluctant to start. Very reluctant. Eventually it burst into life but would not idle very well. Must admit it's never run right since the engine rebuild. Anyway got the green and the start of the bridleway done and decided to try by the pond. Got half way along and the deck stopped cutting. Didn't take much investigation to see the cutter drive belt was loose. The tension spring had broken at one end. Of course I've quite a few tension springs, but none like the broken one. So it looks like the 36" deck I acquired last year is going to see some use until I can go and get a spring. Tomorrow the C-125 will have a carb swop. I've a recon one on the shelf. I'll also check the pump, though I don't suspect that is the problem.

I pulled the head off today. Its definitely been leaking judging by the sooty area on the side. The rest is in great shape. The cross hatch is even still on the cylinder bore. I've got a new gasket coming.

Was needing some 6 inch deck wheels and was looking at the web. Found these wheels sold by a Reading Pa. Company, Service Caster. They are poly, 2 inches wide, (requires a longer 2 1/2" shoulder bolts, I got those from McMasterCarr), have roller bearings and are pretty inexpensive. I drilled the shoulder bolt with an 1/8" bit to the dept to match the hole in race / bushing they provide. I use a needle greaser or pin point greaser to service the wheel. I figure you could just pack the bearings once the once a year and that would work also. They have ones with ball bearings but are $4 more and I am thrifty. Service Caster also has other sizes. Just passing it along. I figure most all are cooped up and checking for fresh info as well as myself!

Any fool can throw money at a problem until they finally hit on the actual problem by process of elimination. However, if you haven't replaced the fuel line and filter in the past couple of years it should be done as a part of preventative maintenance. Also, if you are using ethanol enhanced gas PLEASE STOP! That junk will mess up your fuel system. https://www.pure-gas.org/ Again, if you haven't done an ignition tune-up in the past couple of years it is deferred maintenance that should be done. If your engine is hard to start after setting for a couple of days the fuel pump could be a problem. It is located on top of your engine and the tank is under the seat so if the pump is marginal it will have problems problems lifting the fuel up there. You can test it by installing a temporary tank higher than the pump to see if the problem clears up. Did you pull some of the engine tins to check for accumulated mouse/bug nesting materials. Could be one cylinder isn't being cooled well. deferred maintenance will get you at the most inconvenient times. You need to take charge of the situation.

I just honed a 289 Ford out last week at the shop in preparation for a 331 stroker. It was already .030 over and quite fresh, so the bores only needed a 'touch up'. I take last Friday afternoon off and the guys at the shop call and say "the pistons wont go in the hole". Impossible. I mic'd the pistons, set the bore gauge off the mics, used torque plates, and honed the cylinders for .004 +/- .0002, and am far more obsessed with clearances than necessary. Turns out that in my haste, I ordered a .030 over piston but never actually measured the bores, which were .020 over. Each 'turn' of the bore gauge needle is .010, and when measuring, I did not notice the gauge making one extra trip around the block. The guys in the shop have been making comments all week, and I dont think its gonna stop
