20 pointsIMG_8948.MOV The kids were really board in the house! We live in a small town less then 30 people total, so we got on the horses and rode around for awhile! Enough so that two tractors ran out of gas! Lol. Go figure it was both that the hubby and I was on! 753 and 854! We had a great outing with the family getting fresh air! Boy had a wheel fall off! Lol. Simple fix, hubby had it back going quickly! We drove around town and then out in the country! Grandma even stepped out to record us passing by! Horses saddled up today was our Arkansas RJ, 1961 Suburban, 700, 753 and the 854! The two youngest are the most wildest drivers! Lol IMG_8948.MOV

11 pointsAbout 7 yrs ago my previous owner passed away ; ever since then I sat , unused , forgotten. I watched all my siblings leave one by one, the C120, the Raider, the 520..... And nobody wanted me. My tires went flat, my fluids leaked out. Until last September when somebody finally took me home. I got a bath , I got new tires up front , I got new belts, I got my blades sharpened, I got my leaks fixed, I got a fresh battery I got new tread tape, a couple new decals, I got my wheels painted. I feel like new again(almost)! I think I look pretty good for a little tractor nobody wanted.

9 pointsIn my line of work there are pieces that are difficult to clamp and work on. Many times I quite literally have to have the work piece next to my face whether due to the nature of the work or to keep my back straight on long tedious tasks. For that I use an all original Will-Burt Versa Vise from 1956, attached to a dedicated board and in conjunction with an Emmert. Together they form an articulated arm that allows me to place the work at any angle or position possible allowing easier access to hard areas on hard to clamp pieces while I can comfortably keep my back straight. Vise van be mounted vertical or horizontal in its post. It is extremely versatile and together with the Emmert it is just without any peer for these tasks. I actually came about this system one day many years ago while sitting on the dentists chair and watching him moving the articulated light to all kids of positions while he worked on me.

6 pointsOn the subject of greasing the bearings with a fitting on top of the spindle .... Before I got into the WH's I had a couple other brands that the deck bearings were just left sealed and I went for years with out problems. When I did need a bearing it was a simple matter to just take the old one out and replace it, none of the horrible glob of grease built up in the cavity - which I never could figure how a guy would KNOW when the grease had got to the bearing anyway! --- AND what a mess to fool with working on one! What this is leading up to is that when I replace the bearings in a WH deck I go back with the sealed ones and dont have to fool with using a whole tube of grease to get to it, I'm running a deck now that I think is in its 7th or 8th season with sealed and they are still good. I've heard a couple of the other guys are doing this also.

6 pointsI found this dealer brochure that I received when I purchased my 310-8. in 1993. As I said in a previous post, my cousin shopped for a green lawn tractor at the same time at both a dealer and big box store. At the time prices were anywhere from $1000-$2500 with a deck. Prices still seem to be in that range for big box tractors, I wonder what a 310-8 would sell for today ?

5 pointsThat’s actually why I have them. I used to need them when I plowed snow for my local township. I ran trucks with 10.00/20s Funny thing was that the town guys were too lazy to chain up,then get stuck. I or my guys could go almost anywhere with chains and the proper amount of weight and not get stuck! Side note: common sense, skill and experience also goes a long way!!!

5 pointsGot more done on a rainy day.. Pulled the masking tape off the transmission and discovered that the axle seals didn't set right on installation. Changed both axle seals and drive input seal. (Hadn't done the input seal yet). Fiddled around with the 7" adapter for awhile. Had to clearance a couple holes. Got that lined up nicely and bolted it to the transmission. Installed the seat spring, helper coil and seat. I put the wheel bolts in the hubs and installed the hubs on the axles. I popped the wheels on to test for clearance. If left as is I'll have only 2.5" on the closer side between the seat and tire. I'm going to install 3" spacers so that'll give me 5.5" on the left and more on the right.

4 pointsHow dare me, I never really started a thread on Steve! September 5 2019, I picked up a C-145 for Jim Parsons. I felt like I was on American Pickers. The C broke the ice. Then he was in a selling mood. He had another couple red tractors out back. One needs rings. He thought it was worth a mint because he overpaid for it. I didn’t feel like spending money and gave him a slap in the face offer... take it or leave it. I don’t need another tractor type of attitude. He asked for another $50, gave me a Pepsi to mull over the 50 upcharge and I thanked him for the refreshments and started to load up what I came for. He finally settled for my offer and tossed in the Montgomery Wards furrow plow too. If it weren’t for the 1-1/8” axles, sweet tires and 8 speeds, I’d have walked away without an offer. But everyone’s got a price I suppose. Both tractors came with pretty nice RD mowers and everyone was happy.

4 pointsI can get this 312-8 without the deck, but does come with push blade,wheel weights,and tire chains.it has 874 hours on it, but he said he was pushing some gravel with it and it stopped running. he said when he sprayed starting fluid in carb it would run a little bit. I can get it for $250. do you think this is worth my time and money? he said it ran like a new one before it quit, TIA

4 pointsYes, the axle should be between the two front cross members. If you loaded the pivot bolt in single shear like that it would fail very quickly.

I know that the systems are struggling to connect with students and though technically most kids are enough credits in to pass their grade, the more effort you put forth to learn right now the better for your future. We homeschool, so life as somewhat as usual. Kids still need to learn. If you can’t connect with your class, please reach out to your teachers for alternatives.

4 pointsParts for the differential are trickling in. So far they appear to be the parts I need. More parts should arrive tomorrow. Dawned on me today that I never pulled pulled the seals on the output shaft of the tranny and the input shaft of the differential. Need to do that and get them ordered. Thanks to the generosity of Dick (953 nut) I hope to have the parts I need to repair the rear fender. More on that Tuesday. Many people have come forward and offered help and advice. It has been much appreciated. Thank you.

4 pointsSitting outside watching the paint dry on my front rj wheels ! Removed the snowblower from my 314-8 this am and then removed both front wheels! My Dico front tires are dry rotted and I bought a new set of Deli front tires. A little wider looking than the 16x6.50x8’s on my B-80 but I think they will be good for use with my tiller. I also bought some Deestone tri-ribs for an RJ project I am doing. I am using the 3.50 x 8’s this time. I saw these on a suburban and they looked great!

3 pointsHello there horse fans! Been busy with field work and avoiding people/customers... social distance or conversation minimalist, your choice! Anyways, I dropped off a roll off box at a customer's home and have a chance to purchase a 520. Badly sun faded paint, no 3 point. Tach works, fuel gauge works. All guards in place. Has extra set of 4 new tires on rims with new hub caps. Hour meter shows 367 hours. Does have 48 inch deck. $300 is asking price and all extra parts ( many in new packages) are included. Do I throw cash and break out the buffer, or leave it sit? I like my older tractors myself and not familiar with newer. All thoughts pro and cons are appreciated and welcome! Thank you for reading 😄

3 pointsHi all, I am new here and am new to the wheel horse tractors. I bought a property and a D-240 came with it. Can anyone give me an idea of the year range it could be ? It does have a Koehler motor. It runs really good, I was doing a little plowing with it and it blew a shaft seal off the hydro transmission pump ? Any links to literature for removing the pump or suggestions from anyone here that knows more about these, who can point me in the right direction? much appreciated thanks I have taken it partially apart

3 points$250 is the price for a dozer blade and wheel weights. So a free 312-8 If the POs story is true, it probably just needs a fuel system cleaning.

3 pointsI know of a walk behind Pond with green paintwork. Never seen another, but it's very weathered and sure looks original. The man who owns it claims it's original too. Sort of a Fairbanks Morse forest green. In this case .. who knows. be curious to know if there's anything under the green, never seen primer on any WH of mine.

3 pointsWell this one is finally getting some attention. Fuel system was rotten and I am not pulling the transmission to fix that so I upgraded to my new tank. Some measurements, cutting..... then some more cutting and here we are. A little clean up and then I’ll start on a removable tool tray for under the seat.

3 pointsI'm not familiar with that particular deck either but as mentioned would think you could just buy them individually. I get the # of the bearing/seal of the existing ones and I first go to the bay and can often get like a 10 pack for about the same price of a single. Either way as said just get your # and go to google or the bay or a local dealer.

3 pointsHad a chance to start all the horses today. The ones that have been setup for snow duty haven't been run in weeks. Then the Commandos haven't been run since last fall. Only one groaned a bit about starting but did finally take off and run smoothly. And now we're getting pea-sized hail, a very interesting day its been. Rain to begin the day and windy. Then the sun came out but wind became stronger gusting up to 40mph and it got close to 60 degrees. And now the rain and hail. Upstate NY in the Spring and the end of March
