Had a chance a couple of nights ago to rub down the sheet metal with boiled linseed oil. I really like the colors that popped on the gas tank when I oiled it. I also used a rusty brown paint on the fender wells to age them without having to worry about rust getting all over me. I also made up my seat supports/plywood to get ready to foam and cover them. Getting there slowly!

Just finished painting the belt guards. Have 2 aluminum inserts to make tomorrow. One for where the headlights go and one for the center of the console for the starter switch and volt meter. Wire the alternator, mount the seat and thats about it. The decals I purchased don't match the paint so I'll have my wife make some on her machine. The wheels will get painted in the spring after they are sand blasted as will the muffler. The rear tires are 25x8x12. You have to raise the fender pan to ocommodate them. The park brake doesn't engage. It was like this when I got it. S Something is installed wrong. What do you think?

Finally had time to get to the shop! After dealing with kidney stones and the flu I'm ready to work on the RJ again! Got the extra holes and cracks welded up on the hood and met up with @WheelhorseWes to get a solid frame for it. Come on better weather so I can get it blasted!

This is my 71 C10 120k, with a strong 250 I6, 3 OTT. The frame has all been CRC rust converter painted on, primer and rust o leum industrial black paint. Coils springs on all 4 sides. New rear coils, shocks, trailing arms. On the motor; new fuel pump, spark plug, wires and a carb.. still points...they haven’t given me any issues yet. Running out of a gas can (the tanks gone) and another one has been bought that sits in between the rear frame rails. The mufflers got some holes in it (first on the list!) No joke, 71’s sat all winter, put the battery in, carb dry, put the hose in non ethanol gas and turned the key... 30 secs later she was fired up; let it warm up for 4-5 minutes and then she idled down... it just amazes me that the truck has 120k!!

I'd like to thank every one very much for the Birthday wishes. Most of my day was spent as any other. Get up head to work & burn some diesel. When I got home my wonderful wife had this cool gift for me. Soon we'll be headed to a local fav for some AUCE baby back ribs. Seems my b-day was so close to the weekend I decided to take a vacation day tomorrow & make it a 3 day weekend. Thanks again everyone.

Yah sure Dells he's got no other projects going… specially since he's gotta do all his yardwork by hand what with the wheelbarrow shortage these days! Real nice work Rod. Truth be told I never cared much for those backrests. Picked one up at the BS and put it on a 753. Getting to old to swing my leg over them tho and one time caught the manlies on it. Off she come … the back rest not the jewels... Work around the ranch here requires a lot of hopping on and off tractors! Maybe a short one tho? Dan @Achto ever get you that parking brake lever dims or is he slackin?!?!? Have to give him a little leeway he's an old man too now ya know! I got an extra one I could send you but with your fab skills!

Here is my 953 i bought from the original owners son in 2017. The guy thought his dad got these weights from the dealer at the time but bought them at a later year. This 953 was bought new by his dad. in late 63 or early 64 he told me. These fit the rims perfect and are held on by j bolts to the rims.

I just pulled the tires off from a GT that had auto antifreeze inside for ballast. I have no idea how long these tires were mounted on the rims with the antifreeze inside. I can tell you that this tractor sat for a long time with out running. The rims had little to no rust on the inside. If the rim is completely covered in fluid it will be less likely to rust. Think of a wooden or steel pier in the water, they do not decay below the water line they decay at the water line where they are constantly subject wet & dry conditions.

Ok, I didn’t have too far to go to lose it! I just finished up a deal with a very nice guy from Indiana, Mark Himelick. He’s getting ready to purchase his first house and is liquidating a few of his tractors. If you see this Mark, thanks buddy! I’m getting a 1045 and a 656 from him for fair money. I’m very pleased. I’ve been looking for a 1045 and he made an offer on both that was pretty fair. The 1045 has the wrong hood on it right now, but the correct one comes with it. @pullstart, I have no idea how many horses I have now! Me thinks me might have to sell a few now to thin the herd maties! Just thought I’d share. Have a good night everyone!

Thank you for that, it's real close to the steel I cut to try and figure out the shape. So with what you posted for me I just might get there.

Ahah! I finally got it, or my wife set it up!😁👍 here is the 71 running at 32 degrees, not running for more than 6 min at most.

Its an old Alligator wrench, the teeth have worn or corroded away. Pipefitter tool for twisting rounded stock, pipes, etc. Works somewhat on square heads too.

That is too kool!!! I admire anyone that thinks like that. But to have the talent to pull it off is something. Most just see it done and don't understand what really goes into something like that. That requires some engineering skills, an imagination and the perseverance to see it to the end. I tip my hat to you Sir!!

I researched this and decided on the -20 Windshield washer fluid. I read pros & cons and I hope that it does not eat up the wheels. If it does I will let you all know. I was tired of mashing my fingers on the wheel weights and might still use them at times. I use my tractor for plowing, mowing and some hauling. Man, how I love my Wheel Horse and our discussions about them!

The seat back is 13 x 7 I didn't know what size they were originally. I wanted something that would be easier on the old back. Still have more work to do on it but coming along nice. I dimpled it deep enough for carriage bolts. Think they look better on the tractor. A couple more pics for you.

Well the time has come to get some work done on the RJ. Got majority of it apart today and the list of "wrong" was adding up quickly. This is gonna take longer than expected but should turn out great in the end. Enjoy the tear down pics and stay tuned for progress!

Implement clutches getting pretty worn so made up some new parts and put in some brass bushings, will put a couple grease fittings in pedal, have to get a # 1 drill for 1/4 - 28 tap. Also making a new pulley idler arm ass'y.

@bellevillerod Hopefully these pics will help you out with the parking brake. This is from my 753, for some reason the tang/step on the bottom is either missing or the 753 didn't have one I made one out of card board first to make sure that I had the right shape when I made the one that I needed.

Lzzy Hale from Halestorm has an incredibly powerful voice. We recently found this song of theirs and really enjoyed it too. It’s a great love song / ballad.

Yeah, Emory got sick of giving dear old dad rides around the property, so Dell’s making himself a motorized cart outta an old wheelbarrow and some tractor tidbits.

I just like the look of it, but with the older tractors not having floorboards I can see where some short legged gent's may have some trouble..

Went by the local Rural King and they had the -20 Windshield Washer fluid for $1.49 per gallon so I brought home eight gallons. Already had two gallons from when I added fluid to my turf tires this winter. Added 5 gallons per rear tire by using the self filling tire suction method. Posting this as a reminder to anyone that needs ballast now is the time to look for the reduced price -20 Windshield Washer fluid. Cost per tire is less than $8.50 if using around 40 pounds per tire.

The rims on mt 953s and GT-14 do not have holes for weights. WW-93 two piece weights were produced for inside mounting on these tractors but the WW-105 could be used if holes were drilled in the rims. The WW-105 was a one piece wheel weight that bolted through the rim on 15" units. This would include the 953,1054,GT-14 and C-195
