13 pointsMama wasnt too happy with me about it, but Krystopher got to take his first solo ride on my 753 tonight. Need to find another motor for the Commando V8 so he can ride on his own tractor and give me mine back
-
7 pointsWith the warmer weather doing a little cleaning up on city land. My neighbor has a bobcat he did the heavy work and I did the back dragging. Slowly getting rid of these tubular plants they grow 12' high. I hope you enjoy the picks. Also if any one has a 10 cube W/Horse cart for sale with in an hour form me let me know. Thanks.

5 pointsHey gang, I’ve gotten all the peace’s I need to swap a 520 gear reduction steering setup into my 416, but I’m wanting to use the C195 axle I snagged off eBay. It’s narrower so the tie rods may need modifications but that’s not a big deal My goal is to have a hydro lift tractor that steers easy but doesn't have a wide foot print needing a 48” snow/dozer blade. Also don’t want to use a plow extension. I have a new extra hydro foot control on the shelf that I’m considering using on this one as well, if it comes together it outta be great worker Any thoughts or suggestions?
-
5 pointsWhat do YOU need?? I dunno... A '87 Yugo. YOU probably could fit that tractor in the hatch. What should you do go get? I think a one-way rental on a U-Haul would be a great idea.
-
4 pointsRodney Burger and I working on a third three piece transmission . Pretty dirty and bad bearings and brass bushings in differential and axle housings on side plates!
-
4 pointsI think it was @Achto Dan who said it best... “Build your barn twice as big as you think you need, then in three years it’ll be half as big as you need,” or something like that.
-
4 pointsThe thing about axle lengths...no idea until you tear one apart. Using information from members that have torn apart transmissions and knowing what transmissions they tore apart, we were able to make a list. Here you can cross reference axle part #, with transmission # , with what differential, with axle length and figure out what you have or what you need. You will find the IPL's for your horse invaluable here. Use the "Manual Section", find your horse, find the drawing of your transmission, the part # for your axles and cross reference the part # here with the length. It sounds harder then it is....trust me...this is easy and needed to happen. 1" axles:: 1. The first 1" axle on the left is for the #5003 and the #5010 3 piece transmissions. RJ58/9 , 1960-400 & 550, and the 1961-401 10 5/8" 2. The next 2 fit the #5007, #5025, #5046, #5048, #5049 and #5053...all of the two piece"3 speeds". Part II in the transmission manual. 10 5/8" 3. 11 5/8" part #5961 new part #101880 used in (manual) #5086 trannys 4 pinion differential & WH #5052 Sundstrand #3100077...also 4 pinion. 1 1/8" axles:: 1. 10 1/8" part # 108361 used in Eaton transaxles left side. 2. 11 1/8" part # 6451 & 11 3/4" part # 6450 These axles are used in the bevel gear differentials (manual) #5045, #5047, #5051, #5059, #5058 hydro (WH) #5054 Sundstrand #3100077. 3. 11 1/4" part #7203 & 12" part #7202 These axles are used in the 10 pinion Limit Slip differentials (manual) #5060, #5071, #5073 hydro (WH) #5062 Sundstrand #90-4026 4. 11 3/8" ??? 5. 11 5/8" part #102764 used in the #5091 trannys 8 pinion differentials 6. 13 1/8" part #105875 used in the #103907 & #103916 trannys 8 pinion differential 13-1/8" part # 108362 used in Eaton transaxles right side. 7. 14 3/4" part #8054 & 14 1/8" part #8055 These axles are used in the 10 pinion Limited Slip differentials in the (WH) #5070 Sundstrand #90-2062 hydro. NOT A COMPLETE LIST...YET

3 points@stevasaurus asked me to photograph the assortment of axles that I have so he can identify them. Hopefully this will help future readers of this post identify any spare parts they may have laying around or, identify a transmission using the length of the axles taken out. As seen in the picture below, description as follows: Starting on the left hand side we have (3), 1" Axles. The one on the far left as you can see does not have gear teeth in it. Just a hole in one end and a keyway in both ends. That one is 10-5/8" Long. The next two are 1" Axles that came out of Trina's 657. Those have good keyways but both are scored where the wheel bearing was riding. One quite badly. Same 10-5/8" length. Moving to the 1-1/8" Axles we start out at 10-1/8" Long. Then we have 11-1/4" . 11-3/8". 11-5/8". 12" . The last two (without gears) are 13-1/8". The two on the right end (with gears) are a good usable pair from what is believed to be a mid-70s 8-speed. They are 11-5/8" long.

3 pointsThere’s a D series with a loader and a handful of attachments in the classifieds. We won’t be too far from it’s whereabouts in a couple 2-3 weeks for a gymnastics meet. Anyone willing to shed some physical light on the size of this haul? My 6-1/2’ pickup bed with a cargo rack on the back? Do I need to pull Norman from storage? Find a u-haul trailer one way?
-
3 pointsBrinly says to leave the bolts on the hitch loose so that the plow will swing free from side to side. I find that mine works much better if I tighten those bolts up so that the plow will not swing side to side. This keeps the plow strait behind the tractor.
-
3 pointsTake a car hauler. There's no way to fit all of that into the back of a short bed without damaging the truck. The $50 you spend renting a 16' trailer will be well worth it.
-
3 pointsyears ago a guy purchased an Allis Chalmers HD5 (similar to one in pic below) from my father and transported it with a car hauler I thought the HD5 was going to crush and flatten the car hauler now - starting to think pullstart could transport that HD5 in a pickup truck bed !
-
3 pointsI think I’ve got it bad! @pullstart my friend I think you’re as bad as I am!! Somehow I just seem to have too many tractors and can’t stop buying!!
-
3 pointsYou guys have seen my hauls... Yah i'm afraid we have ...and still don't sleep nites!

3 pointsHere's the update, I finished up the reassembly of the pump and reattached it to the transaxle after going through and resurfacing everything. I change the acceleration springs and checked all the others, everything was good. This past weekend was the opportunity to get it in and go for a test run. Excellent!! works prefect. Thanks everyone for the assistance and this great website we have.

3 pointsReworked today a bit my 2 sided Plow, to be able to Attach to my Horse. before, i thinked i will attach it tothe Beast, but while its a smaller one and my tyredistances are now changed while the FEL needs this width, i simply decided to use it on my Wheelhorse. 16 HP should be enough to pull it, but we will see. Than i thinkering how to build the attachment. Because of available hydraulics, i plan to use the single FEL cylinder for lift my Plow. This idea get fixed and i begin to build the new fast swiper. therefore i removed the attached Lever and rewelded it in 180 degrees. Than i misused a galvanized round Steel plate, and cutted a hole in the middle section and remove the zinc. I had it in spare from an old Hydraulic Leveling system, that was the bottom plates, what shall be stiff enough for my needs. A 1 1/4“ steel pipe is now the Main beam , where i also removed the zinc and a welded angle iron builds the end. i choose a lenght of 5“, that i had allready. On this end i welded another rect. Steelpipe with 20mm inner diameter, where i can later use a 20mm threaded rod as Axle for the lift mechanism. I‘m not sure if this will work as expected, but i will try. At least for today, i try to find the right Angle for the Plow, and it seems i did it. depending on weather situation i must interrupt for now, but welding only the lever to lift was not a big Deal. Another stormy winds shall come and i decided to stop my work for few day‘s. The brake discs ( weight) will be moved more to the Axle and the end section will be redrilled with 20mm to be able to support the threaded rod as Lever. curious, if this will work. my first „plow day“ is now just few steps (days or maybe weeks) ahead.

3 pointsThe Brillman company has several quality levels on their voltage regulators. The most expensive ones are Made in the USA, but they're something like $70. The link to their site is below. https://brillman.com/

3 points@ebinmaine is right on there. You are just a pawn in this chess game of marital happiness. You need to find the most vulnerable in-law and through subtle suggestions convince them that they really want to own the Custom Six. Now it stays in the family, you are a hero to your wife and the Horse Stable is purified once more. Now, get out there and start the sales job! YOU CAN DO IT!
-
3 pointsIt's going to have to be. The budget won't allow any larger and neither will the wife.

2 pointsThat looks like a nice package deal there, hope you get it. One way rentals are so outrageously priced I would look around near your home first. We have a couple equipment rental outfits that will do a one day rental on a 16' trailer with ramp gate for $ 20.00 a day.

-
2 pointssorry I missed this thread Eric! I would’ve tried to persuade you towards some old iron like @jabelman recommended! But you did well with that beast Ariens! I picked an ‘87 Toro 826 up a few weeks back (traded some chevy parts). Pops off with a tug of the recoil and booms the snow with the rubber in the impeller fins. It was a bucket list blower for me; classic Toro + Briggs snow engine + wheel clutches.

-
2 pointsJust load it safe and don't overload what ever you're driving so no one gets hurt. Especially your family. Remember. Stopping is more important than towing.
-
2 pointsBe careful of where you dispose of those tubular plants (Japanese Knot Weed) Any of the roots you move from area to another will regrow. Imposable to get rid of.

2 pointsCan't wait till my baby cousin steven gets old enough (he's 5 months old right now) and he'll get a tractor of his own. I am definitely not giving him mine, lol.

2 pointsWelcome to the forum. Serial number 8334773 was made by Kohler in 1977 but spec number 47648d was used only in 1978 and 1979 model tractors. Production of the 1978 model tractors started in late 1977 so where was this engine for over a year? The 9023 Julian build date tells us the tractor was scheduled to be built on Tuesday January 23, 1979 That makes it a 1979 C-121 Automatic model 91-12KS01 The Raider's have gear transmissions so likely where the 6 speed, 4 forward and 2 reverse came from. Click on the pictures Here is everything we have on this model. Look through them all because they are mixed up. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?&q=91-12ks01&type=downloads_file&search_and_or=or&sortby=relevancy Garry

2 pointsMy wife grew up in the flat land, but she has lived here on this side hill for the last 47 plus years. Taught her to drive the semi which she did for 13 years with me back and across the US, but no desire to ride a tractor on the side hill hi hi.

2 pointsI got the tires mounted and tested them out this morning. I'm now able to hop right over downed logs, churn thru mud and snow with ease, and I've got another 1.5" of ground clearance. I never got stuck once and I was really trying. The ride on asphalt is pretty choppy now but I that's a surface I rarely ride on. As an added bonus I didn't have to raise the seat pan at all, the clearance is tight but it's there. The mudlite 2s are very impressive rear tires.

2 pointsi think i'm going to fab up a support bracket for this muffler stack although the muffler isn't any heavier than the stock one that hung on the front i could see this vibrating down over time
-
2 pointsI usually have three on the shelf. I take the first two and lay them on the bench and BFH them to destroy them and get it over with. Third one goes in no problem!
-
2 pointsLet’s face it, no matter how big you make it, it’s never big enough!! The bigger it is the more stuff you will find to fill it up. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a guy say “ I’ve got this garage/barn that’s just too darn big!”
-
2 pointsI have high hopes. My health issues seem to be under control, and the company that is supplying and building the building is Amish. From what I am told, they are as reliable as the sunrise. We will see.
-
2 pointsGood luck, I’m jealous!! I’ll be following this post! Last December I purchased this 12x24 prebuilt shed/garage and although I absolutely love it I quickly found out I need about four more of these!!!!!
