I thought you may never have seen a WH delivery quite like this after purchase, and all I had to do was to remove the 36'' tiller so the C-120 would fit in the bucket, tiller also was included in the deal. Have included a few after pics with a good cleaning, wheel paint, and some WD-40 to keep the Patina.

You been watching too many reruns of Christmas vacation Kev ... Reduced a perfectly good 702 to a pile of parts today. SWMBO say's candy apple red so she what she wants is what she gets! Her tractor & no point in even arguing! What you laughing about @Achto yer ideas about the flames BS! She even helped by stripping ... get yer minds out the gutter fellas... mafia in training! Got this tractor from @Shynon, an older resto of his, couple of years ago and has always been my go to tub puller and a tractor show must have. He always said good candidate for a repaint. He was right ... after looking at some of his paint runs worst than me after our new years lobster feed! Tranny is a little loud so that will get sorted out as well.

I guess old Bluebell belongs here then haha. 300/6 with the 4 speed overdrive transmission. Got my certification slip back from a vin number search, she's one of 12 1985 F150 Custom's built in Regatta blue, with a 4 speed OD, and 3.55 4wd. Dont mind the goofy winter mirrors

Here are a couple of non-vintage trucks that I have or have had until recently. The blue truck is a 95, 2wd V10 and the silver truck is a 99 4wd V10. The blue truck is my current work truck. Traded the silver truck off a few months ago for the Porsche that's on the trailer behind the blue. I have no complaints whatsoever about either of them. They both will pull a house down!

Although I took this picture in 1981 I still have all three units. That was quite a load for a 300 6. The white 350 was the first new truck I bought in over 30 years.

In process of building another C-120 just for the mower. To much trouble to take on & off. And going to improve the drive belt system.

A late start today + a few issues leaves me with less progress than I would have liked. I did get the most difficult part finished though. In order to make the trailer wider I needed to extend the axle. I consulted with a number of people before attempting this and this method seem to be the most common suggestion. Unless I could find a tight fitting tube to slide over the axle. After much thought and a bit of sphincter puckering I went ahead & cut the axle in half. To bridge the gap I used 2 pieces of thick wall angle iron. In this pic the first piece is ready to tack in place. After every thing was burned together I feel this will be a very strong joint. Other than this I was only able to get the out side frame rails cut to size. Hopefully I can make better progress tomorrow.

Having been born in the late 50's I never really considered a Vintage truck any newer than 1972 because in 1973 the Horsepower ratings started to drop and along came more emission control systems to the Trucks and Muscle cars that a lot of us loved. When @PeacemakerJack started the vintage truck topic he mentioned that he did not consider a vintage truck after 1977, so my thought is there must be many members here that have a lot newer trucks they would like to show but are hesitant to post them on vintage including myself. I will need some time to post pics maybe 1 or 2 for now to get things going. What do you guys think, And of course a big thanks to @PeacemakerJack for brainstorming this great idea. Post them up.

Well the time has come to get some work done on the RJ. Got majority of it apart today and the list of "wrong" was adding up quickly. This is gonna take longer than expected but should turn out great in the end. Enjoy the tear down pics and stay tuned for progress!

Here’s my current truck this picture taken a couple of years ago. I bought this brand new, it’s an 05 F-350 with a Power Stroke and 8’ Fisher plow. With a load of sand in low range this truck will move mountains of snow and go just about anywhere I ask it to!!

Just found a few more. Here’s my second truck, 1978 1/2 ton with a 350 4bbl auto and a fisher plow. Pictures from 1988 I was 18 and just joined the local volunteer fire department of which I am still a very proud member of 31 years later!!

Wow. It doesn’t say where to get said Wheel Horse brand whiskey! I don’t prefer whiskey, but would enjoy looking at a bottle on the shelf!

All this talk about the 67-72 body style reminded me of my first truck. I bought it from a friend in 1985 when I was 15, four months before I could even get a learners permit! I think I paid 1600 bucks and it had an 8’ Meyer plow with a homemade headgear. At the time I was plowing snow with my Work Horse GT -1800 and couldn’t wait to use my truck to plow! I used to sneak it out with my friends late at night and go for a drive on the beach. I was (and still am) lucky enough to live a quarter of a mile from a beautiful stretch of beach that is well over a mile long. The truck was a 1968 3/4 ton with a 327, 4 speed and I believe 4:56 rears. I remember that truck didn’t like to go much more than 55 mph! Here’s me with it at 16 years old. Gotta love those hightop sneakers!!!! Also the genuine Wheel Horse red hat in the first Work Horse picture!

Seeing this big trailer reminds me of the story I read (or heard cause I can't remember) of the new Wheel Horse Dealership that was located in a Kentucky Town in the mid-1960's. The dealer had decided to take in a lot of inventory and was having a hard time selling his tractors as the local folks had not seen them in action. He was starting to get worried about return on his dollar for his investment. The Annual July 4th Parade in Town gave the Wheel Horse Dealer an idea. He decided he would load up his red Wheel Horse tractors on a larger flatbed semi-trailer. But the brilliant idea he had was to have that flat bed trailer pulled through the long main street 4th of July Parade with a Wheel Horse tractor pulling the whole load! Needless to say, his business was busy for several weeks after the parade selling tractors after the Town folks saw that little red tractor pulling that load through Town! Now for those that don't believe this there is a photo of this out there somewhere as I have seen it!

Pay Close Attention Red Square Members! We are all getting some Post-Doctoral Transmission lessons (from Stevasaurus) on this thread folks!

He's always gotten a couple shorts and a couple of longs on it for shows & this trailer has been to a lot of shows. We always figured you get four to a show your ok unless is the feature and that don't happen often. If it does he resorts to this ….

A while back I was having trouble with my oil pressure light in my 520 and decided instead to introduce a gauge rather than rely on a light. Did also a transmission temperature gauge. New oil sensor for gauge is substantially larger than original and would not line up with hole in engine so it required some additional plumbing using brass fittings. When weather got cold and metal shrank it developed an oil leak. So back into I have to go. Easy job but time consuming is removing and reinstalling engine shroud. So I decided to bring sensor totally out of that area. Used a stainless braided racing line made for that application. Effectively also reduced joints in the system, and now working on sensor or its electrical parts is within a second .

I’ve seen more pictures of Hot Wheels lately from Richard than from myself. He’s filthy, but chomping at the bit for a winter’s night ride. If there was only more snow...

Isn’t that hat what brought us all together? The Pond’s legacy will live on not just through our tractors, but through the friendships we’ve made! Like Joette, @wheelhorseman, said there’s just so many folks that have become family that get to see each other for three short days each year!

Want the truth?? It should be a simple bolt right up...the linkage, the tin around the shifter, everything. Take a few distance measurements to be sure, but I think you could throw it all up in the air...flick your wand or click your heals and say "There is no place like home." or "Wisconsin makes the best cheese." and it could all fall down exactly like you are talking. Remember, your horse came with those transmissions also.

@WHX24 this one is going full restoration. Originally we were going to just do a mechanical overhaul but we decided against that. My wife laid claim to this tractor because of the patina but even she made mention that it was pretty rough.......so with a promise to find her another RJ that was in a little better shape to leave patina for her she agreed to go all out on this one. Plus I’m not going to say no to another wheelhorse!

Bit of progress. I need to source a new front axle pin before she's a roller. The mounting tab had broken off at the weld...probably from its rendezvous with the house!

Not sure what you are showing me above here Jim. The post before that...all is correct what you said. I will go 1 step farther. In all wheel horse transmissions... 1. the 4 pinion differentials all have 1" axles of equal length. The length of the axles may be different, but they are of equal length. 2. the 8 pinion differentials are the same way as above (equal length)...except they are 1 1/8" diameter 3. the 10 pinion LS differentials have axles of different length...because of the width of the bull gear. Part #7202 is 1 1/8" x 12" Part #7203 is 1 1/8" x 11 1/4", In other words...if your differential has 4 pinions..it has 1" axles of equal length. If you have 8 pinions in your differential, you have 1 1/8" axles of equal length. If you have 10 pinions in your differential, you have 2 axles of different lengths and they are 1 1/8" diameter. Just to go one step farther...if you have 8 or 10 pinions in your differential, you have 1 1/8" axles and you also have the hi/low range mechanism (6 or 8 speeds). If you have 4 pinions in your differential, you have 1" axles, but you can have 3 speed, 4 speed and 8 speed transmissions. The 3 speeds are 3 forward and 1 reverse. The 4 speeds are 3 speeds forward and 1 reverse. The 8 speeds have the hi/low range.

I don't see any offf white overspray on those cards are you messin with me. I looked at that C-120 in a barn for 20 plus years and the wheels always drove me nuts looking the way they did in the bucket of that Kubota. That 120 was used only to till a garden twice a year and the gas was never drained nor the battery ever on a tender and always started right up come April to turn that soil over, I wash, wax and constantly attend to those tractors and I have spent a small fortune on batterys over the past 30 years, go figure. Glad to see I am accepted with painted wheels.

When you look in "Manuals" for your tractor...take the 1972 Raider for example. The 1972 Raider came with the 8hp, 10hp, 12hp and 14hp Kohler engines. The 8 & 10 horse Raiders came with the #5086 transmission (1" axles and 4 pinion differential). The 12 & 14 horse Raiders came with the #5073 transmission (1 1/8" axles and 10 pinions). So when you look at these Manuals, you need to be careful with what you have and what row of parts you are looking at. When I see numbers like 7202 and 7203 for axles, I know that this is 1 1/8" axles for the #5060, #5071 and #5073 10 pinion LS trannys. Looking further down the list and matching the numbers from the Plate...ie...4 pinion differential, you will see 8hp & 10hp use #5961 old number...#101880 new number for axles 1"...these are 11 5/8" length. This is what you want..11 5/8" x 1" axles...both left and right are the same length...and this should be what you have. Options...a to z (vendor)....WHX?? to get Dan to fix and re-cut the ones you have...do both so you have spares. Check out this Manual to see what I am talking about::

The 300 was brought out in 1975 to replace the 140. Ironically, Deere introduced later a 312 which was a stripped down version of the 300 with a 12 hp K-301 engine in it. So, in 1978, Deere rebadged the 300 to a 316. Then, of course, the 316 was replaced by the 317 in 1979. Also, be aware that there were two 316s, the 1978 Kolher powered one, and then in 1983, Deere made an Onan powered 316, which was an entry level version of the 318. The 300 will use the same attachments as the 140, the 312, 314, the Kohler powered 316, and the 317. It is what as known as a closed frame design, which means the rear of the frame is enclosed by a hitch plate. Deere made an integral hitch and a 3 point hitch that was also used on the tractors I mentioned in the first sentence of this paragraph. The integral hitch was the same hitch used on the square fender 110/112 and the early 200 series, except for a couple of parts. The notch in the rear of the fender pan was there to accommodate the lift rod from the rock shaft.

Candy apple red with a polished tank would look killer. Little parts & pieces of polished aluminum here and there to set it off. Charcoal grey or black engine with matching wheels...... looking good in my mind.

You may want to try out that tiller before selling it. It was one of the best Wheel Horse implements and it really makes your tractor extra special! Plus the veggies are a big benefit.

@WHX24 Candy Apple Red and a lobster feed, now that sounds like a good time. Curious where you buy fresh Lobsta in Wisconsin. Had to put in the correct pronunciation but wrong spelling that way if you ever come to New England you will fit right in. Good luck with the project.

Got the socket set at Lowes for 99 Washingtons and picked up the Versa stack organizer to go with it for another 14. I need more sockets like a hole in the head but I can grab the whole shebang at a moments notice if needed somewhere. Going to put a few nuts, bolts wire nuts and such in it.

I don’t have any pics of it, but I made a 1/2” cube inside a 1” cube inside a 1.75” cube inside a 2.75” cube inside a 4” cube out of a chick of 4” aluminum square bar. All of the cubes float freely inside the next larger one, but none of them come out. I don’t get to use the mill very much, so once in a while I do a project just to stay sharp. This was one of those. I also make these rockers.
