Hi all, Spent a productive day in the workshop making a couple of moustache combs! I have a plain plastic one and thought a nice nickel silver one might look good. I used to make miniature knives so a bit of that skill set came in handy. I used the horizontal mill to cut .030in slots 1.5mm apart. The top one has mother of pearl scales with gold pins. The bottom one is a straight comb for trimming the tash. Anyone else make odd items with their skills? Mick

I made a chess set at work for my niece for Christmas. Used old spark plugs for the pieces and wire ends to make the tops for the big ones and J.B. Weld epoxy to hold the washers to them for a base. Used a piece of scrap masonite for the board and tried to paint the squares but after 3 days of the paint not sticking to the primer coat I gave up and got a couple small sheets of pink and purple peel and stick felt and cut all the little squares out and stuck them down.

After almost 13 hrs and close to 700 miles on the road we are now the proud owners of a 1998 Chevy 2500. Both trucks made the trip with no problems at all...averaged 18mpg out of my F150, and to my surprise the Chevy averaged just a tick over 15, so pretty happy about that.

Trina took her mom for a lovely walk in the White Mountain National Forest off the Kangamangus Highway. I tagged along... Sabbaday Falls is a 45 +/ - foot drop waterfall about 1/2 mile from the road. We spend a lot of time in the forest and mountains. This is truly the cleanest clearest water I've ever seen. After this we went to the Albany NH covered bridge and also explored the beginning section of the Boulder Loop Trail. The bridge was constructed in 1859 on the 3rd attempt after floods wiped out the first 2. It was put in so local valley farmers would have better access to the village of Conway NH. It's tough to see the size of this rock but the hole in the bottom is just big enough to camp in. Note the sunray she got in the lower right corner. One of the boulder walls... Probably 20 to 30 feet tall across the front. @posifour11 @JCM @Mows4three

Dug out some older pics with and without the snow cab. Snowmobile suit without the full coverage helmet was needed when the wind direction changes without cab. This is when the 2 stage shines in 20'' plus inches lands on the ground.

Also this table. Trina, her mom, and I were cutting firewood a few days ago and Trina and her mom both noticed the pretty grain on a particular piece of beechwood. I sliced off a piece about 2.5" to 3" thick and Trina made a table from it. @JCM you'd be proud of her .... The base is all copper pipes and fittings. ALL cut and fitted by her. Not soldered but friction fit holds it tight. The base (except the 90 elbows) is scrap from when we removed the oil system from the house. She even used recycled pipe hanger brackets from the house to hold the base to the wood top. The lower shelf is a few pieces of scrap shiplap pine cut to fit together. It acts as a point of support as well as a shelf. (That was an interesting experiment on the sliding compound miter saw. Neither of us had ever tried to join 3 things in a triangle like that. Internet search, cut some samples, learned a new skill....) She sanded the base and painted it Hammered Dark Bronze. Then sanded the top and put 3 or 4 coats of poly on the bottom, 5 or 6 on the topmost surface. Trina gave it as a "just because" gift to her Mama.

Trina, her mom and and I spent the day being basically productive around the yard. They moved a heckovalotta firewood from the woodshed to the basement. This space was empty of firewood... We reorganized the "parts department" again. Started by taking out a little tree that was in the way of the tarp. Trina's first time ever using a chain saw. (Small electric one). Moved her mom's future tractor (C100) and Trina's next project (856 from @Herder) close to the pallet area... Recovered the area. Moved the 1267 mongrel and Charger 12 into the workshop. The 1267 will be dismantled for parts. The Charger of course is my hydro experiment tractor project. We've had a pile of stone in the side parking area for like 2 years. Dwindling as we used it wherever we needed to. Today we finished flattening/distributing the last of that 14 yard truckload. I sledgehammered out a few rocks from the path around the horse stable and moved 3, 10 cubic foot loads of that stone there. I know the pic is a bit dark but it was dark when we stopped....... While using the Cinnamon Horse dozer plow I discovered that the modification I made to the lift mechanism was moving. Removed it. Flipped it. Drilled a new hole. Installed it. Fixed... For now... I'll need to make up a thicker one soon. At the end of the day we got Trina's 867 ready for the impending 8 to 12 inches of snow over the next couple of days. AWESOME day.

I picked up this 69 GT-14 sometime back in the spring, some may remember. I chased this tractor for a while before I purchased it and it turned out it has a weak hydro gear and I was aware that something with the drive unit was off. Low on fluid, a little slow. Fresh fluids and a filter didn't save it. I believe the damage was caused by pulling it around. Well that didn't stop me from buying it. She made it back into the shop this weekend and it's time to get down to it!! She is a good looking tractor and the more time I spend looking her over the more I like what I seek. I always loved the big rear tires the long frame and hood with that giant cast-iron nose that leans forward just a bit. Its got that hot rod look, well you know for a tractor. Well here we go and I will do my best to provide pic and progress as I go. \ Here's the hydro gear that's going in after I've swopped the drive gear. I will be following the step by step tutorial from 953nut.

Came across an old digital camera with an sd card that I needed to view the pics so my Daughter graciously bought a card reader for me for Christmas.Back 7 or 8 years ago I started a refurb not a resto on my Super A that I bought in 1986 that was used mainly as a mower and not really worked all that hard and was super clean and straight. 3 years ago started it warmed it up and tried to put it in 1st gear no luck. What I found was the Clutch Housing Assembly was chock full of old carpeting, insulation and acorns. The carpeting and insulation were from some remodeling work in a pile outside the rest is history. Now the tractor needs to be split and deal with the Clutch and pressure Plate etc. I suppose when I get ambitious I should tackle it and probably put it up for sale.Included would be Factory wheel weights front and rear, rear chains, relatively new tires ,extra parts , decal set , mint hood , rear PTO pulley . Attachments included are IH # 38 disk harrow , # 189 moldboard plow, front plow blade and 3 blade belly mount mower. Interested to hear what you guys may think in your area what a fair price to ask for this package once up and running

Yes 24 hundred, not thousand. I’ve driven it twice in last 7 years. Last time 3-1/2 years ago when I parked it where it’s at.. I plan to get it out this spring. We’ll probably sell it.

I have made a couple of handy helpers for working on the . First is a dolley that can be used to remove and install a Wheel Horse transaxle without too much exertion. The other is a clamp that will hold a shift ball to be able to remove it without damaging the surface or hold it whill drilling and tapping new threads.

Eric, Your (Trina’s) photos bring back lots of memories for me. Nancy and I honeymooned near there 31 years ago. I’ll have to dig up my favorite picture from that trip. It was taken on that highway. Although we were there in late October that year, the foliage was still pretty amazing. It took us 25 years to get back to that area, but we did, we had a blast retracing our route. Thanks for posting! Happy New Year! Dave

Trina got after the seat and rear fenders this evening. We had some fun removing the bolts to disassemble the seat and fenders. PO solutions.... She removed the paint from the seat and one fender. I straightened out the seat pan just a little with a hammer on the vise anvil. 2 coats primer, 2 coats paint. It'll need at least 1 more coat of paint but I like this textured metallic brown ALOT. One VERY nice advantage to this textured paint is that the seat surface will be slightly more resistant to "butt slide" movement. She also put a good coat of primer on the frame.

I totally agree with the fact that it was not shared here in one form or another is bizarre. So a 60+ year dealer sells everything and nobody on the worlds largest Wheel Horse website knows anything? Makes me wonder if someone is going to show up at the big show with a whole bunch of goodies 🤔

Not one to leave well enough alone I began a gradual two part restoration. Sort the mechanical aspects then tackle the bodywork. The latter part was tricky to decide having viewed all these nice patina builds no doubt this tractor would have been a perfect candidate. In the end I decided that since I have an entire Body shop at my disposal which specializes in vintage restorations why not make it as beautiful as it is functional. The first aesthetic item to address was the wheels. I shod them in AG tires and tri rib fronts due to my steep terrain.

I think its slower working on the Wheel Horse then on my 4x4 hahahah, Got everything on the engine, painted it, redid all the wireing except headlights, they will be when I get the bonnet back on. I pulled 1 whole cup of flacky rust out of the gas tank, threw a pound of nuts n washers in her and filled 3 times with vinager. So it'll be I hope ok till Ebinmaines tank gets here. Hi 5 Ebinmaine for the tank brother. I also I hope got the stator, rectifier, and fuse panel installed, I hope its all good or we may have quite the smoke show hahahaha, It was a bit challenging getting the fuse panel behind the dash too, but now if I blow a fuse I dont have to remove the gas tank, 4 screws and off the sah panel comes. Almost everything was soldered, heat shrinked, and covered with GM wireing harnes covers left over from previouse jobs. I grounded the battery in 2 places, right to the head near the coil, and a;so right under the gas tank to the tower part of the body. Rebuilt the carb, it was solid shelac from sitting all those years. I did notice that the intake runner on the block was smaller then the #30 carb. Just a bit concerned about that, Down the road Ill have to match port them together so there is a smooth transmission and good flow, besides Im going to add a 3 inch runner between the carb and block for more heat isolation and also for better atomization, should be good for an extra persentage of Tork and well ya harsepower even though I dont concern myself with HP usually. Cleaned out the combuston chamber, torked the head and will retork after I do a 1st run. At least now I can get back to the sheet metal work on the back, closing it in for the future roughly 5.8 gallon gas tank. Im hoping to weld that up in stainless, will see?? The snows all melted from a week of fall weather so I havnt had the snow pressuring, thank you mother nature, but I know its coming and no doupt this year we will prob get seriousely dumped on even though maw natures been holding off. Its slow butits all coming together.

I know I'm a bit of a project starter but slow to the finish line... anyways got back on this 1 (nearly a year later) I actually found the angle lever while buying out a small Cub Cadet collection (more on that later) so that got me in gear to get near the finish line on a couple different things like the moldboard "pull" rod which I bought a 1/2" x 36" solid rod (cold roll steel) from TSC took it to work to use the "blue" wrench to make the 2 90° opposing bends that are approximately 32" bend to bend with 3/4"-1" "ears" drilled 1/8" for cotter or hairpins (I ended up using the new 1 on my 520's 56" plow) and ended up using the WH original from my very first snow plow, so the only thing left on this 42" plow is the linkage cable/wires from the angle lever to the "fulcrum" triangle and on to the angle position lock pin.

Good morning @wheelhorseman and family! Sorry I haven’t been in touch for a little while. I pray that everything is going well for Scotty. I received Emory’s blanket and waited for him to get to tear the package open Christmas morning. He was thrilled! He’s been sick the last couple of days and has really enjoyed his blanket. That thing is so soft! If you do another order, might even have to get one for myself!! Just wanted to share. Hope you guys had a great Christmas and have a very happy New Year!

You may want to do a second top a few inches above that one with perforations and sealed on perimeter and attach shop vacuum to it like a regular sanding table. It also would not hurt to introduce 3 tall sides on table to keep all dust contained on top of table. It will restrict work a bit but it will be a major improvement on dust collection.

I have regretted almost everything that I have sold, hard to part with things that you try to maintain to the best of your ability and keep for many many years, but there comes a time when storage becomes an issue. On the other side of the coin when I do finally sell something a lot of times it is to someone who I know because I try to extend the life of that particular item so that it may live on so that person will enjoy it and help them make their life easier around the home or farm as it did mine.

Honestly Ed, thanks for the concern. Andy has had three good checkups since his abdominal surgery and all lab tests and exams have been negative. It feel great to be able to say that! He just had his fourth CT scan and some more blood work yesterday and we are expecting the same results. After last year, no news is certainly good news for us. I’m going to give the Big Show a distinct probability this year. There are so many folks that I want to meet and so much I’d like to see. I am waiting on calendars from two volunteer organizations I belong to and if the date is clear, I’ll be at the fairgrounds. Can’t wait! I don't remember if I shared the photos with you, but we’ve been slowly building a multi-purpose workshop and a blacksmithing shed on our back lot. I attached a photo from early fall. Neither of these are too big, and I’m sure that I’ll outgrow them as soon as I move my wood working equipment and forge into them. The workshop will have an area to store and service my garden tractors, snow blower and ATV. A neighbor just installed an air over hydraulic lift for his motorcycle from HF and it’s got me thinking hard. It would be nice to have one of these. I’m itching to be able to wrench on my equipment without crawling around on arthritic knees. Good to be back. Give me a call when you’re heading back up to Somerset County. I’d love to host you at the cabin for a chat, a coffee and a visit. Dave
