7 pointsSo since I picked up these two charger 10s I brought the better one of the two in the shop and started to take things apart. By looking at it with all the grease that is on this tractor and the fact that it was kept inside it has no rust whatsoever. I took the dipstick out of the transmission and it had bright red fluid in it . This should be an easy cleanup and a patina machine is underway !

5 pointsLast weekend went over to my neighbors house and went back in the woods and he has been cutting on this sycamore that fell this year that was 3 foot in diameter at the base. Got these three chunks closer to the bottom of the roots . Lots of color !

4 pointsSo against my better judgement my son brings home a Commando V7 home from the scrapyard. We found out all the idlers in the drivebelt system are shot and that parts for this tractor are near impossible to get. He has the idlers and drive belt ordered from a local shop that found some info. In the meantime we got the original 7 hp Tecumseh running. It runs like crap and has a nasty knock. Need to repower. I know where to get a 24hp v twin B&S for free. Well we’re modifying it as little as possible and it’s going to be a cool little obnoxious thing to play with😂😁😁 IMG_6498.MOV IMG_6498.MOV

4 pointsTested out the HY-3 with the plow yesterday. Got the wife on the tractor too. Shes hooked now and want's one of her own. I only made 2 or 3 out of the 20 or so passes because she was having so much fun! Couldn't get it to sink in well without added weight but it cut a good 8" deep furrow with me standing on the plow! Theres a C-160 in a hedge row here locally I have a friend going to aquire about. Maybe that can be her tractor?

3 pointsThere otta be be a “seat” section! IMO! The seat on my 2000 is too far forward... and it’s not like the wheel horse original seat (like the late 70s seat) with the seat springs (c shaped). The photos are of my Dads C101 and 1of my 2000 WH. I ordered off eBay the old WH seat bracket and springs. Next i need to order a seat.... they don’t a make seats like they used to!!

3 pointsOn the vac filter thing. Sherwin Williams sells paint strainers in one and five gallon can sizes. You can place them over your shop vac filter without restricting the air flow. For more pre filter add some pantyhose

3 pointsI like the rear blade but that's what I grew up around... And as for down pressure that was me standing on it while dad was driving or my new trick standing on the blade steering and pushing the hydro lever or pulling the lift lever... Try that with a foot operated hydro ...

3 pointsI dont hsve any pics most havent seen, lol...n my pics rightnow are pretty stationary/boring at the moment anyways... But in the last week or so, ive removed the snowblower, added pigtails n a Battery Tender; removed the front pulley/bracket for the lawnmower; removed the rear tire chains. Yesterday i changed the oil. Nextweek im hoping/planning to buy a floor jack, and if the weather holds, or we get a warm day, change the hydraulic fliud out... Oh, yea...and lastnite i contacted VinylGuy about a set of decals😁 Hopiing to do more over the winter ( maybe get the tires pulled/tubed), and i look for lil things to try and do...verymuch wish i had a heated shop, tho. I wont freeze tryin to get my Horse back on his feet, lol. Otherwise, you can bet, it is going to be a busy spring!😉😊

3 pointsI have 6 sets of 1x5 complete. I laid out my studs on the floor of the shop and pre-cut the ends to land on the studs. I’ve also upgraded my vacuum head so it won’t clog so easily... and remembered to add a bag in the canister!

3 pointsI will do an experiment this year and try both of my grader blades on one tractor at the same time to see how it performs during a snowfall on the driveway, I can put one in the center attachamatic and one in the rear slot hitch! Might helt with wet snow or ice.

3 pointsyou got to realize the intent of garden tractor. it's soul purpose was to be worked. why do you see so many hoods hacked and cut up, if the engine blew up you made another one fit. if the key switch or something electric went you cut wires and rigged something, you worked til something catastrophic broke and parked it stone row and some hunter uses it sight in a shot gun. then 20 years later and idiot like me pays money for it and drags it home restores it

2 pointsHas anyone changed this exit angle from this type of muffler to literally anything else? My yard has some long stretches where you are normally driving straight west where our wind always comes. Tonight was the first time I actually mowed with it and mowed for over two hours. It did great and my recently jb welded flywheel magnets are still stuck and working but I have the worst headache from breathing exhaust fumes and since this is meant to be my wife's mower and she hates exhaust smell- I gotta do something with it. My garage always smells of exhaust / diesel / something but this was rough for even me. I have a stack on my other mowers that just goes up and out to the side, I'd like to maybe do that as she won't be mowing near any trees low enough to hit anything with a stack, either that or aim it down. I just don't know if that exit is a common pipe ID or OD without cutting it and was wondering anyone had messed with that. I like the muffler itself it's good and quiet. As much as I love my wheel horse, and lawn rov'r I'll be spending 75% of my mowing time with this.. also ignore the way its mounted to the 3 point hitch I since made proper extensions.. first day rigging in this picture to try it. It's actually straight now.

2 pointsAHS , this is the seat i have on my three horses, https://www.agrisupply.com/universal-tractor-seat/p/14119/ , exact w/h bolt pattern for easy bolt on , agree with ebinmaine on the long seat brackets, i also picked up some nice craftsman / murry seat springs which really helped on the very end of the mount. look at your options to remount that seat frame, probably picking up some 5/16 or 3/8 steel flat stock for bolt mount strength . you might remove the seat/ fender pan to give you a better look at your seat mounting possibilities. once you find a go to, under fender frame possibility , use the steel flat stock to bridge the area. drill a few holes and remount your much better fitting seat, pete

That 312-8 is mine, also, given to me by my Dad, a lil over 3 yrs ago, now😊 It was/is my 1st WH...that he bought/suprised me with, when i expressed an intrest in them. It currently resides about 120 miles north of here, with 3 others, by my folks. The Bronco is just the 1st i found/bought on my own. The plan is, if i can do it, to add on/build more storage space here, so i can bring it down. Maybe doesnt make sense, but id like to own a few more...GT 14; 1045; a Blackhood. Maybe more, i dunno. Cuz i do hope someday to own the space to really use them... I know...cart b4 the horse, lol. But i like the hobby, so...here i am.

2 pointsit's like my grandfathers old wheelhorse that he bought new, he took care of it but when little things went he fixed as cheap as possible. I have the tractor now and i don't plan on changing any of his repairs it functions and ads to the sentimental value of it. like the broken key switch he replaced with a toggle switch.

2 pointsEarly riser. Yeah that's about right. 4 a.m. on the weekdays and I almost never sleep past 6 on the weekends. My basic train of thought about your tractor is that it is a hydro transmission that moves on its own ... I don't personally understand how they work or how to repair them so that's the only thing that would bother me if it was questionable. From there everything else is repairable with time and care. Plug away at it a little bit at a time and just keep asking questions.

2 pointsGoodMorning; i notice you are an early riser like me😊 Dont worry bout your memory; mine is like that, too, lol... And besides, to be honest, i dunno if i ever really said, or not🤣! But yes, it runs and drives; cant say ive done much of that; just up n down the sidewalk of my corner lot... I, at this time, would not be very comfortable buying a non runner. Far as i kno, everything works as it should; even the lift...though, as mentioned elsewhere, there has been some cobbling done to keep it thatway, and many things are worn... There is a leak or 2, too, that i did not see when i looked it over best i could...but i am hoping those can be delt with, too.

2 pointsI know what you mean.. You see something that someone has done and think "Really? Can anyone be that dumb?", and then something else comes along to top it. If you ever happen to get into working on old cars, you'll see things that you never thought possible. The level of "ingenuity" (hackery) of some people is astonishing. Sure, some of it was done out of necessity, but it is mainly done out of ignorance and laziness. Just in case anyone was wondering, if you decide to channel your '34 Ford, when you shorten your brake and clutch pedals, don't cut a section out and then braze them back together. It doesn't work. It snaps off if you press very hard. Car was built as a drag car in the late 50s and never finished, so they didn't figure out how well their "fix" performed. Broke on me while unloading it off the trailer.

2 pointsThere might be some chuckles with this but I'll risk it. A few years back, with my son we were into building RC trucks that plowed snow and did other things. The most effective snow plowing version was the mid-mount because it controlled the torque. It weighed only 12lbs so it was limited to what it could handle but it was very easy to drive. Maybe things dont "scale up", but a mid mount with some down pressure and maybe a heavy rubber flap running on top of the blade for more capacity seems it would do great in snow...and be a ton of fun to operate too. How cool would it be if the vendor above offered a new mid mount attachment? He seems to make nice stuff and is capable. And there definitely seems to be a scarcity of used mid mounts out there!

2 pointsWe have one of the later ones here. I bought it thinking that I might be able to use it on Cinnamon horse or Patriot to grade the driveway and Forest paths. So what do I do? I put it on Trina's 867 and let her try it out. Do you think I've used that thing since??? Nope. She's like a little five-year-old. Driving around in figure eights and swirls and circles and straight lines and crooked lines and ups and downs and lefts and rights... Until she likes the way the driveway looks. Maybe someday in the far distant future if I'm a very very good boy I'll be able to use my own grader blade.

2 pointsNot to disrespect Farmers but when you work on old farm tractors you come across a lot of Farmer Fixes. In the older times farmers only had 1 or 2 tractors and if it broke down it had to be "fixed" fast as the manure had to be spread hay bailed etc. no time to wait for parts to be shipped in from Racine Wisconsin, Waterloo Iowa or Rock Island Ill. Some of these farmer field fixes were still functioning on my Cases and Farmall 40-50 years later. Not pretty, kinda of dodgy but effective....

2 points@The Tool Crib my thoughts exactly! My fence is trued up good enough for who it’s for. Now I can clamp it in place and run a few test depth cuts before processing my lumber.

1 pointIf the tractor is stored in a damp shed, then that is probably why. I don't know about you, but here in Pa it's been really wet for about 2 years and I've had to clean points more often than I've ever had to before.

1 pointIf you have a true 701 and the correct steering block/fan gear, it is i one year only, one model only steering block/gear, hard to find. That being said you could install a 702 block and gear and it would work

1 pointSee if you can slip a bearing splitter around the wheel below the hub. Then use a puller to pull the bearing splitter. Garry
