Trina had a big karate event this past Saturday about 2-1/2 hours from us in Woodstock VT. Free Training Day. Put-on by one of the other black belts from her school. 12 Masters of their own craft taught classes for an hour each. 2 at a time for 6 time slots. I participated in 4. 1500s European hand weapons. Kempo/ Jiu Jitsu defenses. Board breaking. Thai chi. I BROKE BOARDS !!! I've put the board breaking videos on my YouTube channel. We decided to make a weekend out of it and play tourist. Friday we stopped at Quechee gorge to look around. It's a 1/2 mile or so and 200 vertical feet to the bottom of the gorge. There's a hydroelectric dam upstream we also walked to. Bottom of the gorge at the end of the walking trail. From a nearby point to the end, looking upstream. See the bridge... The hydroelectric dam. Closeup of the left side of above dam. After that we went up the road a little to the Vermont Institute Of Natural Sciences. They are a rehabilitation facility for birds of prey in particular, and others as well. These Bald Eagle pics are NOT ZOOMED. This female was just a few feet away and Trina was able to aim the camera through the cage wires. Great horned owl Male snowy owl Peregrine falcon Barred owl pair. Screech owl. These little guys are only about 8 inches tall. Rough legged hawk. This the new elevated walking path through the trees. There's a tower where the pic is from that's 81 feet from the ground. We're above the tops of many of the trees Now for a bit of rest.....

I put the boosted 522xi to work today around the yard doing firewood and tugging logs. I cut and split about a quard of wood this am by hand. It feels like it's about 10 degrees out with the wind. This log has to weigh about 2k+ pounds. Now the xi scales in at 10 pounds shy of 1500 lbs. It tugged it like a champ though. Was worried about it rolling don't into the driveway on the left and into my trailer then further down rolling to the right which is about a 4' drop into the neighbors shed and taking the tractor with it.

About 2.5 should fit. BBT is the official designation of @pullstart for Trina. Black Belt Trina.

My honey/Trina/BBT and her mom have been building us a roughly 6 x 8 foot wood shed. The only help I've given was standing up the roof assembly and securing it. ALL spare parts from past projects except the siding they started putting on today. Note the spaces between the boards. They're about 2" gapped for air flow. The bottom of each board has a nail driven in part way to hold them out 1/2" or so. The water will run from the bottom of each board to the face of the next.

Got bored today so I mounted the plow I’ve had for 3 yrs without a tractor to put it on on the 753. Now with my luck we probably won’t see any snow all year but I’m ready just in case

Work has not allowed me to have much free time but I did manage to finally get my C145 completely ready for snow duty. Replaced the junky glass tube fuse holder that was on it with a nice spade type fuse holder that has a cap to keep things dry. Put some new reflectors on the back for better visibility by others. Plow blade mounted & after I took this pic, I put some chains on the back tires. I did have opportunity to use the plow and I think it will work out great for what I want it for. Will most likely work even better now that I have chains on the rears.

This isn’t a vintage truck but it is a “vintage” picture that I just unearthed. Kelli and I finished the resto on our 1969 GTO right at the end of 2000. We were also in the process of a winter build on our home at the time. We moved in early January but had much to do to finish the house over the spring/summer/fall of 2001. THEN... This picture was taken the first time that the GTO was at our house. It was following the Memorial Day car show in Omro 2001. I had stored it the previous winter in a storage unit. You can see that we didn’t have our lawn in yet, nor the garage built, nor the final grade soil pushed around. Just me, my young beautiful bride, our first home, and my dream car... NOW... Same beautiful bride! Same dream car! Same starter home! The BEST additions to our lives EVER! Caleb, Claudia, Judge, and Zach God is good to me, better than I certainly deserve!

So this week after work I just did some wet sanding on the belt guard and hood I also figured out my hood bushings. I left the hood mount alone as far as filling in the wear point I sanded them down a little to accept a 3/8id 1/2od flange bushing and cut them down to fit the current mount I also had to open the hood mount holes up to 1/2in. As you can see I also drilled out the pin hole so the bushing stays in place and he hood wears on the bushing instead So this is where I have gotten so far Hoping to clean up the engine or tear apart the trans this weekend or next week.

Dan says the same thing Mike.... hang on to your barstool.... took a lesson from Dan and dumpster picked it ..I kid you not! Some stoney threw it and a bunch of other nice stuff on the metal scrap pile at the shop! Dan's got dibs on it should I perish in a fiery tractor accident!

Decided to check the batteries on my tractors yesterday. Non have been run for around 6 weeks. Nothing much for them to do, this time of year. The C-125 was rather reluctant, so that has been on charge over night. The C-121 aka The Black Horse fired up ok after a bit of priming. Charger is now on the Sears/Roper, as I know the battery loses some of it's charge when idle for a while. I think there is a slight drain somewhere. Tomorrow will be the turn of The C-81. If it stays dry, may give them all a run round.

Thank you so much Gentlemen, Its been a while since I've posted anything, 'Things Happen" in life . There was so little material left on the bottom edge of my blade , it made it hard to figure what was there originally. And the "fix" that I did didn't really work all that well, at least when I hit the occasional "frozen embedded rock". So-o-o Now I got something to shoot for. Thank You again. I always said this was and still is one of the lousiest, rotten, mean, nasty forums that I ever got involved with and can't imagine how people can be that mean!!!! Thank You Chris

I had this one on a cam the other day. He had his rump right against the cam, but note the right beam at the front of the deer. Well out past his ear. I wish he was facing the cam. If he has a matching left beam, I believe he will be over 24" wide. This is what causes me to pass smaller bucks.

All the replies are great suggestions. Kinda heading in the direction of Stevasaurus. As far as the poly edge, My driveway is over 1000' long. Last year, A buddy gave me skid shoes off a bolen's which I adapted to the plow. Even with infrequent use, (normally use a blower), I wore the shoes almost completely through, and that was after having a different style of skid on in the beginning of the season. I doubt a ploy edge would last to long for me. Wallfish, That is exactly what happened to my previous fix. Its a tough spot to weld and the stress is significant across the entire length of the blade. It didn't take long to bend the repair back toward under the blade. I might put some reinforcements along the bottom edge . Plus going to look for a stronger harder wear edge. I agree with your suggestions totally. A smart bunch of people here but I have an image to protect so I can't say that publicly.... Thanks, chris

You can test the Electric PTO just like it is. Hook up a battery to the two terminals (makes no difference +/-) You should hear a loud click and see some movement making the small gap between pulleys and coil housing disappear

Didn’t like slipping all over when the last snow fell last week so I got chains and installed them today. And fixed the chain the broke on the thrower.

I don't have acorns, instead I have black walnuts. Unfortunately the best way to clean these @*^% things up is to pick them up by hand. A lawn sweeper may work to pick up acorns. For the moles, which I had an epic battle with this past summer this is what I used. https://www.tomcatbrand.com/en-us/products/mole-baits/tomcat-mole-killer?gclid=CjwKCAiA_MPuBRB5EiwAHTTvMZf0EIBfZJZWyKjpGAH8TMDkSyEJIIiHRBhLKaGZ-r1NMYix_dd-lhoCZG8QAvD_BwE&ef_id=CjwKCAiA_MPuBRB5EiwAHTTvMZf0EIBfZJZWyKjpGAH8TMDkSyEJIIiHRBhLKaGZ-r1NMYix_dd-lhoCZG8QAvD_BwE:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!4676!3!389930745530!!!g!830163955878!&cmp%3Dkid%2FTomcat%2FGoogle_SEM%2FShopping%2FG|Tomcat|Shopping|Generic|Rodent|Traps And this. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Scotts-GrubEx1-Season-Long-Grub-Killer-5-000-sq-ft/17190373?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2986&adid=22222222227019300302&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=42977349392&wl4=pla-81469594592&wl5=9019452&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=17190373&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAiA_MPuBRB5EiwAHTTvMXshtI-SVS4O0cchvF_hvZpdNSvWxzukLq1bRqDlR2-7CMq3TVPyExoCOfsQAvD_BwE It took a while but I finally evacuated the lil s.o.b.'s from my yard, which is probably a good thing. I was about ready to fill their tunnels with an oxy/propane mix and blow them to the moon. No seriously it almost came to this.

not that I recommend it - but few lawn and garden tractors will devour small branches, sticks, debris, etc like a Wheel Horse - and with little / no damage or issues leaves ? smirk ... I create and then run through piles of leaves and mulch them into pieces Wheel Horse decks, spindles, blades, etc. all heavy duty and can withstand punishment that would destroy parts on a lesser tractor

our Scout was very similar to this one we had Jeeps before this - the Scout was much stronger *** ( *** stronger than a 4 cyl Jeep - but obviously no match for the V6 and V8 Jeeps )

ever heard of grub control ? , kill off the grubs and the moles leave, next regularly spike your lawn to improve the grub and insect penetration . this is what i regularly tow to aireate my lawn and increase grub and insect control , since using these both weighted an unweighted my lawn has totally transformed . they also grind up and surface debris , keeping the lawn soft, pete

Right, the piece I bought was not hardened, but with the Star Wheel adjuster or with an HY-2 unit, I can keep the blade just off the concrete. I don';t want to scratch up[ my new driveway. I can actually plow the leaves right out of the grass during fall without gouging the grass.
  41. 2 points
But Steve's plow wasn't worn down through the original mounting holes so you'll still need to weld something or replace the blade. I'm not 100% sure if the sacrificial scrapers sold as replacement scrapers are hardened steel but I think they are. Mild steel bought out of the bins at the local hardware store will wear much quicker. BUT, since you have a welder you can always weld a thick bead along the scrape edge which will make it much harder than just the mild steel. That can be done for the skid shoes too. Plus you can go with a wider and thicker piece of flat bar if going with the mild steel. How about finding a scraper from a full size road plow? Might be hard to cut but bet that would wear slow enough to get you through a season

I just bought a 2 1/2" or 3" X 1/4" bar I think from ACE, but it could have been Tractor Supply. I thin drilled the right sized holes and used Stove Bolts for fastening. I got to get rid of the square under the bolt head and I could still keep the rounded head. I'll be able to just flip it when the time comes.
  43. 2 points
I'd buy it for @gwest_ca for Christmas...or at least let him borrow it to fill in any gaps.
  44. 2 points
Should end up with better support that way than just relying on a butt weld all the way across the length of it. Those bars get quite a bit of force on them as you found out by folding one under. Weld the top front all the way across and the bottom rear in between the bolt holes and the lap joint weld will hold up. Added weight doesn't hurt either as I run a bigger 1/4" thick scraper bar on mine.

Manuals in a binder like that are a neat thing to adorn your shelf, but the value is sort of limited when you consider the variety of manuals @gwest_ca has compiled for us on this site. Like @Pollack Pete said, offer him a reasonable amount and don't go hog wild (unless you want to)

Made another trip to the lumber yard this afternoon...and we now have a ramp. It’s not finished yet, but at least it’s usable. Sure was nice driving the 753 in the shop instead of wrestling it up into the door by hand. Also had some leftover 1x12 from the shelving we put up last weekend, so I put up another shelf for my radio to sit on so it’s off the bench and out of the way
