Happy 13th Anniversary Red Square! I have assembled a few of the photos of Wheel Horses and the people who love them, hope you enjoy the photo collage. If you wish to view it in a larger format the link below will open in paint. This link will go away in a couple of weeks to save storage space on Red Square. 11 14 2019 Happy 13th.bmp

Great picture thank you for putting that together. Traditionally 13 year anniversary is the Lace anniversary, but I don’t think that fits with our theme, so we'll continue to celebrate the steel anniversary! I hope that the next 13 are as great as the first, and continue to drive more members here, as this is the premiere site for Wheel Horse enthusiasts and owners! Happy Anniversary RedSquare and to the members who make this place special! Yesterday I was going through the early member list, and there are so many who have been here since the beginning, with the oldest (in tenure) continuous member being @Sparky so happy anniversary Mike as well, and hope you have some lace to show us... err, nevermind make that steel.

I'm very grateful to everyone who has ever posted any response to anything I've ever said. I appreciate the dead on correct answers and also the ones that might not be exactly right. I do learn from both. I also do enjoy when we ask a question about subject ABC and pretty soon we are off on a tangent talking about XYZ. Trina and I are pretty far off the edge of the beaten path so to speak for most of the people on this site. I've met a few of you in person and I consider myself very lucky to have made great friends all around. In person or online. I really do appreciate all the help and information we have gotten about tractors and every single other subject, over the last two or three years since joining. Red Square. All members. Happy anniversary and thank you. Eric and Trina.

Thanks Richard for the great collage I’m really glad that I found this forum 5 years ago in September. I came looking for it to share the story of my dad’s 875 with fellow enthusiasts and ended up not only locating the best forum on the web but also meeting a bunch of great Guys in the process. Here are a few pics from my RS experience... This is the final in a series of Wheel Horse transmissions. I have done the 3 piece #5003 & 5010 for the RJs...the #5025 3 speeds...the #5085 4 speed...the #5060 6 speed and now the #5091 8 speed. It has been a long wait, but my brother Mike had a C-100 that just had both axle bearings go bad. He took it to a dealer to have it all checked out and the dealer noticed the play in the axles. He did not want to touch it and even suggested scrapping it. That's when Mike called me. HELLO!!! I rebuild these...take it off the horse and bring it over. He did. We did have to cut off the both hubs with a 4" grinder...which we replaced with help from Randy... @The Tool Crib. Got the hubs in the mail a week later. We needed 2 axle bearings, 1 break shaft bearing, the 4 seals and the case gasket...got from Lowell https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/forum/141-wheelhorse-parts-and-more/ Time for pictures. Case half...deep side...showing lack of axle and brake shaft bearing. I have to say... @prondzy made me a set of arbors that I was able to use to set these bearings. I did use the freezer method for 2 days to shrink the bearing race...worked like a champ. Mike, those arbors were the cat's meow...Thanks Mate. Seeing that the axle bearing disintegrated, it did leave the axle with some rough spots. I ran the 4' grinder gently over the rough spots so it would fit back in the differential side plate and the axle tube.. BTW...I did 5 videos doing this trans. It fought me to death and I did not edit any of the things that made me go back and re-do the things to make it right. Hopefully, watch the whole video 1st and see where I made mistakes and what it took to make things right. Then you can do it right the 1st time. Video...putting the differential together. I took a bunch of good pictures of the most important part of the 8 speed transmission...the hi/low mechanism...especially showing the fork that is the weak spot. This is what makes it so you can't shift between hi and low range. Video of putting this together follows the pictures. This is the hi/low range mechanism. the input shaft with the gear and spline assembly. The rough part (you see) is where I broke the casting and Mike had it welded. You can see the fork gear and the bolt to release the detente and fork it self. There is the fork...that is what breaks or gets bent. Shifting without coming to a complete stop and going from low to high...or...hi to low range is what breaks this fork. You can see, there is not much there. This is the piece that sticks out of the trans with the lever hi/low. The notch hooks onto the fork of the fork mechanism. I took some different views because sometimes the pieces can be welded back together. the weld job The look of the parts. the videos The rest of the trans. The last 2 videos. Here is some different shots...that I can use to help members when they run into things...like what neutral looks like from the inside. neutral 2nd gear 1st gear It will take approx. 2 qts of 90 wt oil to fill up to the fill mark on the dip stick. I know...this may not be my best effort, but it does show all the pit falls. I am so glad to finally be able to do the 8 speed 8 pinion transmission. Thanks to my brother Mike, my good friend Lowell, my new good friend Randy, and a Minnesota guy that has always been special...Mike P....and as always...my inspiration...Squonk. One thing I have to say though...the video times ad up to 42 minutes and 21 seconds. That is the worst time it would take you to save an 8 speed transmission.

Happy Birthday, !!! This is the only website besides Google entities that I frequent and have little reason to stray from that! Good friends, good times, good info, plenty of oddball humor, sooooo many smiles! @953 nut thank you for another awesome collage, will Terry be collaborating with you to make the banners again this year?

Happy anniversary Red Square and my sincere thanks to Karl, all the moderators and all the members for making this the most wonderful place on the internet. Seldom do you see cyber friends become real friends as you do here. Truly a very special group of fine people.

This site has kept me young...OK...it is really trying to keep me young. The people...friends...that I have met and talked with here have just been amazing. I can spend all day on here, just going back through pictures of all the shows. Doing all those videos of going around the block and transmission how to's, etc, have given me so much back from people all over the world that call, e-mail, skype and are members on here. When I first found Red Square, I knew nothing about garden tractors. The members here took me in, like they do with all of us, and I learned. I have not stopped learning, but I wanted to give something back. I did the trans videos. Right, I gave back, but I am still receiving. This is one of the few places that when you give, you get back more then you gave. I have tears in my eyes after reading all of the above in this thread. I just hope I can keep giving to this very special place. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RED SQUARE !!!

This site is way too much fun. If I am feeling down, I can come in here and end up feeling really good about things. Hard to go somewhere and have that happen.

I've owned and tinkered around with Wheel Horse Tractors for awhile now. I came across RedSquare a few years ago in the process of doing some research and was quite surprised by the website. Love it, glad to have found it and all of the member here. Happy 13th Anniversary.

I see people who have been registered for years and are active but aren't supporters. Of course it's their choice, but come on! It's cheap! You certainly won't find a better forum on the internet. Happy Anniversary, RedSquare! I want to thank every person who was responsible for the creation of this forum and for making it the place it is! This is by far my favorite forum on the internet. The amount of information here is staggering... and the people are excellent!

Saw this little guy show up on the local classified page we need not mention. Listed for 75.00. Last thing I need is another project but .. I called anyway. Couldn't make time work and talked myself out of it. Just this morning, the fellow calls and says to take it or leave it, 25.00, its headed to scrap if it doesn't go. Well we can't have that.. so off I went. I haven't checked the build plate but he believes it's a 1971. Charger 12, obviously. It was family owned since new. Parked in 1992 when a deck pulley rounded off. Apparently uncovered, and untouched since that day. Square rubber WH key remains in the ignition. Engine does turn over, deck is there but a bit worse for the wear. It has a Solid State Ignition K301 in it which supposedly ran when parked. Interested to see if it's actually still working. Not quite sure what'll happen with it just yet, but here she is! Couldn't stand for it to be crushed.

Happy 13th anniversary to RedSquare. It's hard to believe that I've been here a little over 3.5 years now. When I first found the site I had just been given my 1277, and stumbled across this place while Google searching for info on the tractor I had just acquired. Wheel Horse tractors are fairly hard to come by here in Oklahoma, and I didn't realize the following they had until I joined the ranks here. Didn't take long for the bug to bite me. I belong to several online forums for different things, but RedSquare is the only one that I come to on a daily basis. The level of expertise that our member base shares is unlike any other. Looking forward to many many more years here, and hoping to one day meet many of you that make this place what it is.

Hmmm... I'm not sure I heard this story. I'm not surprised, just uninformed. Looking forward to hearing about it sometime.

Every anniversary, I give a little trivia. For this year: For most of the year in 2011 RedSquare experiences tremendous downtime, this was caused by the "free" Forumer hosting provider moving servers, selling and going out of business. We were forced to "steal" our data and created the forum you see today. Question is, when RedSquare wasn't available in October of 2011, where did our members go to discuss Wheel Horses?

Hello Red Square, I recently aquired a full collection of a 312-8 and a bunch of Implements. Tractor is In Superb shape and runs like a charm, all implements are in stellar shape and I right now I'm in the process of starting a business so I'm contemplating parting with these incredible items although reluctant as I'm stoked to own my own tractor, mower, snowblower, plowblade, wheel barrow ( dump), aireator and roller! Ive put not even an hr on the tractor since my aquiring it, but it has all been garaged since parked and only ever needed to have the shifter handle replaced by the original owner. Well, looking forward to browsing the forums here. Be blessed and ShineOn.

I just realized that Rylee won this shirt at the raffle at Scott’s meet and greet. I’ve never looked into the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. I’m a freggin’ mess right now. I am so sad for that little boy and wish I could have been there to give him one more smile. I asked Rylee to wear the shirt tonight and keep little Max in her heart for me.

Wish I could find that old thread and pic from years ago of Mike with his strap on and outta gas. Think it was lost in the forum move, (on purpose) @squonk keeps posting those pics just beg'n for some "Caption This" comments The Max Nunn story really tugs at the heart. Anyone who hasn't clicked on Jason's link above please do so and read each each post, you will see exactly what kind of forum this is. RIP Max and Tom Although the number of members has grown and many may have come and gone, the camaraderie here still remains the same. I'm glad to be part of it.

Seriously I had a horse bound for the scrapper in '15 then by some act of God I found this place.... well may have helped a bit. Since then I have bought and sold over 40 tractors, a 6.5k enclosed trailer to move them, a 22k camper toy hauler, a 65K truck to pull the hauler, started the tractor show circuit and met dozens of great people and made many friends even tho I have to continue to pay them to be my friends. Then ther is the plow day that cost over 500 to put on .... Would I do it again? ...You bet! 'Sides keeps me out of the tavern! Special thanks to 953nut for putting together that really cool collage. Might have to talk with @Vinylguy about a banner? Only being here for a few years I can say I know most of the faces in that collage. Sure are some good memories ther Richard ! More special thanks to Karl for having us and his henchmen for keeping us in line. Only thing that saddens me is, and in reading older threads, is the talent (members) that has come and gone and our RIP brothers. This tread is lacking in ther than Jack's so here's the one that was once loaded for scrap... to Dan @Achto for snapping that one! Happy anniversary Red Square!

BIG BIG difference! There’s barely a need for the front lights. I had extra rope that I double backed in the end, so if I wanted to restring them I could come forward quite a few truss sets before heading back. They came with plastic clips, I’m sure the front shop would benefit from screwing some to the ceiling as well!

Good eye! Amd thx for the heads up, went out and snapped a pic of the spot and i believe you are correct on the rear axle seal. And i rechecked, shes only got 122 just shy of 123hrs on her total.💯💪

I spent Veterans Day at home relaxing with the family as I usually do, but yesterday I had the opportunity to speak to my sons class and go to the schools veterans day program with him. It was a great surprise for him (I had a beard when he left for school) and a great experience for me.

https://www.badasscars.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=73/category_id=13/mode=prod/prd73.htm I found this this interesting read and thought it would be worth sharing. I wonder if side gapping would help such a small engine as ours? @fast88pu any input from the pulling/power world of small engines? from the above link... “This exposes the spark to the open cylinder and combustion area more and prevents the shrouding that the full length ground strap tends to do on regular plugs.”

I didn't send @Vinylguy and advance copy this year, truth be told I just finished it up Tuesday night. PM him and he will probably be willing to print you one. He is so good to us.

OMG...you want some laughs and shin-ad-a-gans. Karl would go camping with the family for the weekend, and all hell would break loose on the site. All in fun of course...but Karl would get an E-Mail, or what ever Karl gets, and he would be VERY UPSET that his weekend got interrupted. Well, one weekend, he had had enough and banned a bunch of us for a week. It was all JimD's fault, and I just got caught up in the cleansing. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

Nice looking project! Just found your post & wanted to pass along that I also have a personal interest as I'm also in the finishing stages of a resto on an 856. Not sure if you found my topic, but I documented a full thread on the highlights (and "lowlights") of my project here https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/73715-my-856-project/ . From what I see, you are addressing all of the wear issues that I also encountered on my 856 . Not sure if I can be of much help since it looks like you already have a good handle on it, but please don't hesitate if I can be of any assistance. As I mentioned, I'm still in the finishing stages on the tractor, and have only finished a few things on the deck but I had to put it all on the back burner for a while due to family obligations. I hope to wrap it all up in the coming months if at all possible. Looking good!!

Yeah I’m not to sure about this one. It’s in pretty ok condition. It does have a sticker on it from the shop I worked at 30 yrs ago though. Lol This is actually the first vertical shaft tractor he’s brought home. we pulled the head and it looks good. Got spark. Pulled the tins to clean out the mouse nest. If the trans is ok it’ll be a fun little mower.
