6 pointsHello All, Been trying to clean up... took down pool, took down fenced in garden... rotted shed, metal shed that collapsed on and on... still along way to go. Today I took one of my junky yard trailers and put HALF... of the motors in it that I have laying around. Some roll over... some dont... some are blown up. But all have good unique parts. I wont scrap them as theres about $50 value at todays rates and I wont scrap Wheel Horse stuff EVER. So... im going to put a sheet of plywood over top and a tarp. Anybody else hoarding stuff like this... lol yah I know. I need a "shrink". But where else will I find that Wheel Horse thingy when I need it. Tony

6 pointsUpdate: So today we started early morning to start accessing damage and have some plan of overwhelmingly attack on what we should do. Suddenly, all the neighborhood people show up with loppers and chainsaws. I asked why? ”Because we live on a dirt road that the town rarely plows in the winter. You with that little red tractor single handily plow snow throughout the winter on our road and our driveways “. Wow!!! Brought tears to my eyes! After several hours of intense chopping, the tractors were now exposed. Oh my frocking God! The WH gods were on my side!!!!! That ginormous tree trunk strategically landed perfectly between the tractors. No tractors were harmed nor scratched!!!! You can’t make this stuff up!!! Wow! Oh wow!!!!

5 pointsBy singular demand @Ed Kennell here you go... I have many does, a spike, a 6 or 7, I can’t tell on the left outer tine if that counts or not, then a pretty nice 8. I am only have a couple daybreak pictures of does from yesterday and today so let’s hope they keep cutting silage corn in the area and deer start coming in more often!

5 points1054/Johnson Loader. I had this 1054 sitting around for the past few years and I picked up the loader attachment this past spring. The loader did not include a subframe so I spent the last two days making the subframe and the weight box. I was a little concerned over rather the unit worked or not but so far so good.

5 pointsThanks Eric and Trina! Dad recommend using the black primer to bring out a darker more “antique” red. Following priming I started to paint it using the colonial red paint that we bought. Now all I need to put this thing back together is a dash decal from my good friend @Vinylguy We’ll be contacting you soon Terry!

5 pointsCouple more on their way to a new home. We kept piling stuff in the trailer and into the truck until space was gone. Today was a GREAT day! Got to see Denny again and meet a new friend for the first time. Believe it or not, there’s still a lot of stuff left around here. It’s a lot of fun finding new homes for these treasures. steve

4 pointsLike @The Tool Crib says it kinda depends on what area you're from. We call em wood chucks. They like to dig under buildings. May not seem like too big of a deal until you drive your car into the garage and the concrete gives out because there is no dirt under it.
-
4 pointsGoing to get extension for the wood boiler chimney, and 100 gallons gasoline for the horses.

4 pointsHe gets into my shed but so far hasnt done any damage. Squirrels get in there to and stash walnuts. I dont have anything in there that can be chewed up. So its a woodchuck? What kind of damage will it do? They all hang out under the bird feeder looking for scraps. Bird feeder is some nice yard art. Old tool box and some old wrenches

4 pointsWith a strong feel of fall in the air today, I thought this would be a good time to get the 16 auto out from the back of the barn. Tore it down enough to be able to mark the timing mark so I could check to be sure it was set properly and it is. Went through the blower and lubed everything, and oiled the chain. Changed engine oil, and added weights front and rear. She's ready for work once its called upon. One tractor ready for the inevitable. Probably should have taken a picture or two, with the new additional weights but didn't think of it till just now. So last year's pic will have to do

3 pointsPicked it up and brought her home. My uncle saw the ad on CL for free curbside pickup of this and it was about 2 miles from our house. He texted me thinking it was me giving away tractors. Lol. As luck would have it my son had the trailer and his pickup at work delivering a wood stove to his boss and picking Up his snowblower to fix. I stopped on my way home to see if it was still there and it was I spoke to the owner who bought it 10 yrs ago as a spare tractor at a garage sale in Florida NY. About 15 min away. He told me he used it to pull his cub cadet back to the house when it broke down. 😂 My son had to work late but Er got it back home for assessment. Lots of notes from the original owner under the seat. I’ll dig in after work tomorrow.

3 pointsI was installing an old plow on a spare machine the other day and was thinking of installing a front stabilizer. More like a prototype session. I've had this idea for a while and was accumulating some bits and pieces. I didn't have any tubing that fit snug enough on the 3/4 round bar pieces but did have some square stuff that fit pretty good. Though this together using an old support bar from a scrap mule drive and it works okay. About and inch of sway. Could be tighter with a snugger fit but is nice to take off just pop the mule drive release and it folds right up. I've seen other types of these and know they help take the stress off.

3 pointsDo I hear $12 hammana hammana 12 12 12dollars 12 12 12 11 now 12 great score @Burnerman, I’m proud of ya!
-
3 points@pullstart, I see you took my advice on a getting yourself a trailcam... One bit of advise what you see now on "film" will likely change as the rut ramps up and more bucks start roaming or cruising after does in estrus.
-
3 pointsNothing on the tractors but something for the tractors. Went on a tire shopping trip tonight. Picked up four more maxxis tires. Two 26-9x15” and two more 26-11x15” for $100. I could pass them up for that. The 26-9’s will go on the gt14 wheels for the wife’s 2054 and the 26-11’s will go on a set of 10” wide custom wheels with gt14 4 lug centers.

3 pointsWhen I get time I will have to pull the SD card to see whats going on out back, may wait until the end of the month when the Bucks start to get a little frisky. Most pics I get are Deer, Bobcats and Turkeys. @Achto You are right about those Woodchucks, At my house in Mass they have undermined one of my concrete garage floors and actually have come up on the front side and removed the hot top to have an in and an out from the back, and also one more entrance out the side onto the lawn area. Many years ago I had beautiful 25'x75' Garden and those Chucks would devastate all the veggies, of course they would take 1 bite out of almost every cucumber, zucchini, summer squash etc and the raccoons would take at least half of the corn, eventually is was much easier to go in town to the local fruit mart and just buy everything. I will leave it to your imagination how I removed them from my property. Now it seems the Coyotes have taken care of most of them if not all and now the cottontails have free roam, but they still have to keep an eye out for the Coyotes. @WHX24 The comment about the Buick is priceless.

3 pointsI use bi-metal blades and no lubricant. The secret is a very slow blade speed so if this is a traditional wood bandsaw it needs to be modified. The specs are in blade feet per minute so you can practise your math skills. The included chart is from the manual of an 18" wood/metal saw. Picture yourself using a hacksaw. That is the pressure and speed you need. Garry

3 pointsI dont have a trail cam. Mind you I live right in the middle of the city. Pretty big city too. The most wild life you see are Pigeons and squirrels. But lookie who comes to visit me. Is that a woodchuck or a gopher or are they the same thing?

3 pointsI’m not partaking in beverages right now, but here’s a clink for ya on the good work, Jim! We got this glass from @HorseFixer at a meet and greet some years back and I might have forgotten about it. It was found recently and Mrs. P had to remind me where it came from! I recall us getting her a tea mug, but didn’t recall this etched big mug.

3 pointsPlease do remind your other half that a Wheelhorse is NOT a cheap tractor. They are a piece of Equipment. Like any machine they have areas that could use attention on different models. Overall they are extremely dependable, very high quality machines. Very easy to repair and maintain as you've already seen. The metal fuel pumps are rebuildable with a kit from a company in Massachusetts called Then And Now Automotive. You're likely at least as dependable with an electric pump. Cold weather will treat you well going electric as well.
-
3 pointsWell...Jim’s PD IV is almost here and I managed to break the spirol pin in the drive shaft that retains the clutch spring last winter while blading snow with it. Ive been thinking about upgrading the drive line parts with some heavy duty ones from Midwest Super Cub. I guess no better time then now to get with the program...besides even though he’s a guy, @Rp.wh has a special spot for this little tractor and might want to take a couple of rounds on it! I need to get it fixed and I’m going to try to make that happen this week🤞🏻

3 pointsLooks like those big wheels will keep you from blowing gravel.

3 pointsGood to hear no horses were harmed. You’ve been paying it forward plowing for all you neighbors and they repaid you. These red tractors draw the nicest people
-
3 pointsWe are certainly blessed! That tree could have hit our house or roof . None of which happened. We are all safe now!
-
3 pointsFirst of all does anyone notice something new about my avatar? This was the paint that that we chose from our local hardware store. We will see how it turns out... This tractor has been sitting here since I plowed the strawberry garden in October of last year because of the two piece gas tank/gasket failed. Let’s get to work! After taking the hood off we had to take off the steering wheel. I was really nervous because of all the trouble we had with JackRabbit Then to our surprise after we pulled the pin the wheel came off like a dream. I took out the three bolts holding on the gas tank but one was being stubborn so dad worked on that while I disconnected the choke and throttle cables. So then after getting the bolts and then getting the gas line from the float bowl off. I started sanding on the tank to get it ready for priming and painting. to be continued... ( I just arrived at church)

2 pointsYou Know what they say Ed .... gotta boil them unfilled tags a awfull long time time to be edible. Told ya they is the bad news bears D mac Gophers are not the same as 'chucks buddy but all are considered rodents. Rodents in @WVHillbilly520H book is condered prime table fare! -
2 pointsIs it true, the height the hornets nest are is the amount of snow for the winter season.
-
2 pointsMoose season here, not hornets. I can cut down that maple.
-
2 pointsMaybe it's time to pack up and move south for the winter ! Further south ! way way south!
-
2 pointsRe-work, before any real work.... I think I meant to brace the lift point, but thoughts of paint got the best of me. I see just from the weight of the plow that my cross piece has twisted a bit. I am going to weld another plate of steel on to help stiffen it up. After all, I don’t want to break my newest part in it’s maiden voyage!
-
2 pointsThere is a fork at the end of the hi/low shifter that can bend or even break. If your oil is good and your trans is clean (post above), then this is probably what is wrong. You will need to drop and open the trans to fix it. The thing to do is do not force it. The second thing to do is just use high range until you get the chance to open it up. You are in luck...kind of. My brother has an 8 speed that needs axle bearings and he is going to bring it over here for me to take apart and fix. I am going to make a thread for opening and fixing this trans. If you can wait a week or two, I will be able to show you in a video of what you may have going on.
-
2 pointsYes I see, the firm that do the wheels are pretty good so I'm just going to have those cleaned and refinished. I bought 2.5 litres of Fiat Rosso paint which is as near as can be to the Massey fergusson red I was going to use. Decided to make a set of bronze bushes for the clutch cross shaft as it's a bit sloppy in the chassis. A day on the lathe will see those done a d the new engine mounts. Mick

2 pointsSomeone was definitely looking out for you and your horses! Can't be a coincidence how it fell. My heart sank when I saw the first picture, fearing the worst. Extremely glad that they were unharmed!
-
2 pointsCongrats on your luck, more than just the gods looking out for you. I'd say you are blessed in many ways. Happy to hear the great news!
