7 pointsSince l picked up the 8 horse no name ive used a few parts to up date IRV. Now i'm using a few more parts again. Im replacing the center tower so that l can put the larger gas tank and the newer pto set up. I am also replacing the 14 horse motor that is on it because of the crank bearings are making some noises. I'm transplanting the 12 horse from my old 312-8 for now until I rebuild the 14 hp .

7 pointsWhile taking my morning walk, I heard a racket on my neighbors stone road. Looked to the farm and watched 28 horse and buggies enter the farm. Sorry, no camera and when I got back to the house, the horses were all unhitched and in the barn. Later in the day. About 4PM, they started to leave. The Amish normally congregate on Sundays. I'm not sure if this was a special religious event or a house warming for the young family and their new farm. Quite an interesting event to witness.

4 pointsThe edges of the bracket should have bends so the actual edge of the metal does not contact the belt, just the curve at the bend. You can increase the the bend angle using an adjustable wrench and or also bend the bracket up a little at the 90 deg bend so it doesn't pinch the belt as tight. Just some slight tweaking should be enough.

3 pointsI was also interested in these two 5th wheelers Ed. Really interesting chain drive and mechanical brakes. My Dad had a small trucking business when I was a youngster. He had 4 cab over GMCs pulling car carriers for Dallas & Mavis in Fort Wayne Indiana in the '50s. As a 13 yo, I regularly drove them the 10 mile to a Gulf station where I worked. I pumped a lot of grease onto those 5th wheel plates.

2 pointsHi folks!! I've just purchased my first wheel horse garden tractor!! They're hard to come across in Northern Ireland, it's a C81. Really pleased to have tracked one down. In reasonable condition. I'm also new to forums so trying to find my way about I'm hoping to track down a plough for cultivation. I believe a need a slieve hitch to attach the plough. Since these will also be hard to find is it possible to make your own. Thanks in anticipation!!

2 pointsAnother scrapyard save. wont shift. Looks like most of it’s here with the 67 K241.

2 pointsThe 1990 Johnson 9.9 wasn't pumping as it should this year. So, it was time to replace the pump before winterizing. All the O-ring seals were mush and everything was full of crud. About 4 hours later, I had the old pump out and ordered a new pump kit. Cleaned everything, tapped all the holes and cleaned the bolts.

2 pointsCouple more on their way to a new home. We kept piling stuff in the trailer and into the truck until space was gone. Today was a GREAT day! Got to see Denny again and meet a new friend for the first time. Believe it or not, there’s still a lot of stuff left around here. It’s a lot of fun finding new homes for these treasures. steve

2 pointsWell ..... They could always just move........... Sooooppeerr nice job on that trailer.

2 pointsDone with all but graphics!!! Test run (Empty) went great!!! Very happy with it. On the look out for a train bell and a horn...neighbors should be thrilled... 2 pointsShifter fixed. Broken roll pin.Got spark. The boy is gunna clean his first Carter carb.
-
2 pointsThat looks just like the one I had on my C-141 that cratered about 500 feet from the shop (and she has the front mount mower so towing is a big issue) I wish you luck hearing from the vendor (and/or China). I am now only using Facet posiflow pumps made in USA (not the one in Japan)
-
2 pointsI just keep extra pre cleaners on hand, chang as needed. My 1989 520-h has 2000 hours on it with out engine trouble, I think you fellas might be over thinking things. Keep it clean, when conditions are dusty change the oil more and the pre filter more often.
-
2 pointspossibly just a poor design maybe a good way to sell a lot of air filters and the warm air thing makes little sense - because most grass cutting is done in warmer weather the shroud filling up with debris is also annoying I considered a fender or shroud of some type for the left front - after watching the fan pull in debris and leaves from the left front tire as the tractor moves forward at one point I mounted a small flat snow brush with Velcro on the left cover - so I could brush off the debris from the shroud without dismounting
-
2 pointsMy! Pennsy is just littered with Wheel Horsies at bargain basement prices. Just what I was looking for - a cheap wrecked 520 with an Eaton 11 just waiting for me. Fantastic score! I would have peeled off a Benjie without thinking and you actually argued? That compounds the score.

2 pointsSo, I'm on vacation in Orlando with my family for 10 days. I told Tom @Zeek that if I had a couple of free hours that I would try to pay him a visit at his new home. Well I did just that. Drove about 1-1/2 hours each way and with his good directions, I easy found his beautiful new "horse ranch". Had a great visit with Tom and Sue and got the tour. Here I am (in the hat) with Zeek in front of his red golf cart (it is Florida, right?) In the golf cart ready for my tour. In the "outback" chasing wild turkeys. Tom and Sue on their front porch. Here's the new garage we saw earlier on his relocation thread. Very nice. You might need some more tractors Tom A side shot of the house. So that ends my visit. Wish I could have stayed longer, but I left 5 others in our rented Villa with no transportation. Hope to get back again Tom.

2 pointsYou know I mentioned to my wife how easy it would be to have some kind of show in the back pasture area She wants to put four-legged horses back there though. Not that I'm opposed to that, but the red ones are less work than the hairy ones
-
2 pointsI guess I ain't been following your work on the tube as I should Vin my bad .... fact is last ime I followed you was on the fence to resto or orginal on this one. Sounds like you are going the resto route on this gem. For what it's worth i would consider it sacriledge to fill in those pits with BF but these clowns here have me washed on original these days. I would think of a way to pit those rims to match. Even with new paint those pits have a way of shining through and saying I am old stuff. I have chewed Dan's @ss @Achto about not not filling in spot weld dimples on his restos but he likes them so be it . But I get your dilemma. Good luck on whatever trail you go down. Please do keep us posted.

1 pointMy wife tells me I hijacked Bianca thred. I am new to this so I will pre apologize. I just acquired my fathers 1969 W.H. gt 14. We did a mechanical restore in the eighties. It has the hood. Looking to restore again. It has been sitting in a carport for 18 years. Cleaned lines, flushed gas, new battery and plug and fired right up. Pretty excited

1 pointwelcome learner, that point cover should be available on the internet , i think they are a common size and shape,in addition i would take advantage of your easy starting , and enhance it , with lightly sanding all electrical contact slide on points ,and using a small amount of DIELECTRIC GREASE on every connection. easily available at your auto parts store . when starting on a new project i take advantage of its strong points , and verify them, that lets me go on to to the other needed repair areas. as you said you are going to replace lubricants , you probably will also need a shift er boot , that will let water get in your transmission. keep us informed if you can, and don,t be afraid to ask , pete

1 pointHi 953 nut! Thanks for welcome. Drawing is fab. Really appreciate that. I had visited the forum about 1 maybe 2 years ago. At that time I thought I'd tracked down a wheel horse in Scotland but it fell through:( Now I've finally got one I'm delighted! Doubtless I'll have more questions. Thanks again

1 pointExcellent point Bob. I know part of the answer. Having to do business with an American Company working in China, this is what happens. The Chinese Government controls everything. When a company does business there, the must provide so much revenue such as taxes and jobs in order to maintain internal sales to the Chinese. If those business fall behind they can be penalized by having land, equipment and business is forfeited. The vast growing Chinese market is an overwhelming temptation for business loose in some markets in order to seal the their Chinese market presence. A lot of Americans don't know of this tactic and they just buy on price. A good example of this is the current issue with the NBA being brought to it's knees. It doesn't always work out for me trying to purchase American made, seems like I get tricked on a regular basis. I still try.

1 pointI learned long ago that asking prices are not always set in stone no matter how low they are. Never hurts to ask. It was on for over a week so I thought he would come down to get rid of it

1 pointI am a Ford guy, in general, but I have also decided that I never want to own anything newer than 2010, no matter who built it. I am also not so blindingly brand loyal that I can't see their flaws, especially when I deal with them every day. One of the reasons that I get so frustrated with this tractor is that I am a Ford Certified senior master tech with a combined 13 years of experience under my belt. I can, and in the last month have, torn the engine out of an Escape, tore it down to the long block, put it all back together, and had it run down the road without any issues on the first try. My mechanical skills are, by most measures, rather formidable. However this 1965 tractor, which is by any modern standard a very simple machine, regularly kicks my butt.

1 pointIf any of you have ever gotten a brake lining from me, you will notice that I charge $4.00 for shipping. The lining comes in a fitted cardboard box. The brake lining and box weight in at 6 oz. The boxes costs me $.37 each, and USPS 1st-class parcel though eBay/Paypal cost me $3.22. That's my discounted rate because I ship frequently. Add in the cost of the thermal label (minuscule), and eBay's fee on postage $.40 (10%), my total cost to ship is $3.99. I wish too that there were a less expensive way. But now the soapbox How do we as a country allow China to ship small items anywhere in the U.S. for free. I have ordered parts from China that weigh more than my brake linings, and it arrives in California, is picked up my the same USPS that ships my stuff, and it goes through the same distribution, and I'm charge $0.00 for shipping. That in my opinion is a big reason why your local shipping costs are so high.

1 pointThe 5xi grader blade will fit C-Series and 300, 400 and 500-Series by moving rear bar 5" ahead. I cut out the rear mounting bar and drilled new holes to relocate a new longer bar with pins. I left the side frame rails long so the original bar ends I cut off can be drilled out and the bar moved back so it can still be used on a 5xi. The 5xi blade will fit the long frame models as it is but the blade when angled is too close to a front tire leaving no room for graded material. Garry

1 pointFirstly i do some Seattime on my Horse, to mow the Lawn. 👍 After i control weight yesterday with the Shovel mounted, i know now, i have exactly 340Kilos on the Frontaxle. And 277 Kilos on the Rearaxle. The Anglepoint of my FEL was exactly at the center of my Rearaxle, what can handle up to close a Ton of Weight. that seems enough for my Tests, so i feel comfortable with. With that knowledge i tryed today, to change the Palette under the Agave. I organized a newer Palette and mount some Tyres below, that she can be easy moved by hands. To do this, i firstly lift her a bit and build a construct to stabilize and drive under the old broken Palette, after that i try to move her out of the Frontyard. That stoppen at the curbs, just the Tractor lifts front legs...😱😎 After a first Try, where the Beast lift the Frontaxle and i must keep front tyres back on floor, so i must put some weight in the Shovel, otherwise i have nearly no pressure on the Frontwheels. I was simply able to lift the frontaxle nearly with just bit force under Shovel - easy to do. Ok it rains the last 2 Day‘s, that means that Beast of Flower has a overall weight now of about 320 Kilos. 😳 Damn heavy- i guess it was much easier, but it wasn't. just after put +30Kilos in the Shovel i can drive with her on the Backfork. Impressive was, the FEL has absolute no problem to lift her, even without added balance weight on rear. it was also very stable, so i can carefully drive with her in the FEL. All last and work as calculated and as expected. I‘m happy with my build.

1 pointThe switch you show is EMB602.... search for that... there's a few on ebay. Or check with a local appliance repair.... they are refrigerator light switches.

1 pointI think you'll be amazed at the traction with those rubber chains Bob. With steel chains, I could not get up my steep paved driveway with the plow or blower raised. I had to plow down only and circle around thru the grass to get back to the top. With the rubber chains I can plow up and down.
-
1 pointI figured I'd take advantage of the beautiful day and get my 05 ready for winter. If everything goes as planned we'll have some 300'+ of blacktop drive to clear so I decided to go with these Terra Grips instead of the steel chains I've been using.
