14 pointsHi all, I made a new oil dip stick top for my Kohler. Simple turning job but it looks good, two O ring seals and a knurled knob.
-
7 pointsI figured I'd take advantage of the beautiful day and get my 05 ready for winter. If everything goes as planned we'll have some 300'+ of blacktop drive to clear so I decided to go with these Terra Grips instead of the steel chains I've been using.
-
7 pointsYes it has. Beside completing much needed work around the house I tlook on more work than need be. In between I managed to build a 230' zip line. I still have to finish a complete do-over of our backyard landscape before winter. Then a few days ago I saw a C165 for sale in markertplace, was lucky to get it and here I am.

5 pointsAn Ark 500 will work on a C141 if it has a compatible sub-frame. The sub-frame distributes the weight and forces developed from a loader to the axles of your tractor to prevent the frame from damage. If the pump, cylinders. hoses, and frame are all in nice shape and the sub-frame will fit your tractor then $ 1,500 is a reasonable price. If you will need to build or modify the sub-frame or do other repairs then the price should be adjusted downward.

4 pointsMy little cart started life as a #2 IH but I now consider it part of my Wheel Horse family. Two years ago I painted it red, raised it and put "big" 16x6.5-8 tires on it. Big, ha ha. Then I found really BIG ems 20x10-8s that were the drive wheels from a JD LT155. Playing second fiddle is my new to me, days old C165 that I bought from the original owner, but not before he assured me that he was ready to part with it. I absolutly love it,

4 pointsWe got this old thing last night. Guy had it listed for 200$ along with a craftsman with a blown motor. He took 100$ for just the snapper. Only 1 of 2 tractors I have that have almost been able to run before we get them. Noticed the original keys looked really nice, and when we got home, I checked the hour meter. 560 hours. Garage kept, up until the month or two the guy was working on it. This is hands down, the NICEST one of these I have ever seen. Needs a new ignition switch or solenoid, it continues to turn over when you let off the key. It also only runs for 30 seconds, then sputters and dies, and then it starts right back up and does it again. It's not a spark issue, I'm thinking stuck float needle in carb, maybe.
-
4 pointsYeah me too. I have kind of a personal vendetta against paying for shipping. if I buy on the jungle site I just add stuff until it gets to free shipping level. If I buy on the flea Bay I find a vendor that will ship it for nothing. the only vendor that I have right now I use on a regular basis that I will give any money for Freight is McMaster-Carr.

4 pointsI will try to post a video but not today. I found this vital turnbuckle on marketplace an hour away for only $20. It is one of two needed for the 200+ long line

4 pointsVery impressive Kyle. Interested to see how it pulls being a hydro. I found the stock tires on mine were too narrow. Had to change it up.

4 pointsI never did think it was a good idea to burn food. Not to mention what it's done to the price of a cheeseburger.

3 pointsI just wanted to take a moment to express my hatred towards the corn lobby and whoever thought up the idea of mixing ethanol with gasoline. I apologize in advance for the rambling I'm about to do. Last time I ran the 70 Charger roughly 2 months ago, the likely original voltage regulator shorted internally and started charging full blast at idle. After about 2 seconds, it blew out the dome light bulb and the car died. No spark. Didn't feel like messing with it and it sat. Fast forward to Monday. We finally had a day below 90 degrees so I went out and messed with it some. Turns out the voltage spike fried the ignition control module. No biggie, put one off of the pile on it, changed the voltage regulator and I was in business. Drove it around some, parked it in the driveway and tried to start it after work yesterday. No spark! Turns out the pickup coil in the distributor went ahead and died, likely from the voltage spike. No biggie, grabbed another distributor off of the pile, slapped it in and 10 minutes I was back in business. Ran it for about two hours while I was working on other stuff to burn some of the old gas out of it, then I shut it off and left it. Fast forward to today after work.. You can probably guess where I'm headed. Wouldn't start. I automatically assumed I had an ignition issue. Checked the ballast resistor, had voltage to the coil, so I put yet another ignition box on it. Nothing. Another distributor. Nothing. I poured some gas down the carb for the heck of it. Nothing! By this time I had a helper so I checked for spark with another plug, and I did have spark. Pulled the #1 plug out. It had a nice varnish glaze on it and it was wet. Every plug was like this and was dead. Cleaned them all, put them back in it, and it started and ran for a second. Checked and the accelerator pump wasn't spraying fuel when the pedal was pressed. I pulled the top of the carb off to find that both needles were stuck.. Like stuck enough that i had to use a pair of needle nose to get them out. Cleaned the carb out, put it back together and still nothing. Pulled it back apart to find that the rubber-tipped needles had stuck again, almost as bad as before. I went and grabbed 2 used metal tipped needles and seats that came out of a carb that I put a kit in. After installing those, It started and runs excellent! Added a can of sea foam and 5 gallons of ethanol free gas to the tank which didn't have much gas in it to begin with. Hopefully the new gas prevents anything from sticking or killing the plugs. Keep in mind that this gas is less than a year old and had Sta-Bil in it. From now on, it will be getting nothing but ethanol free gasoline. It's around $.40 a gallon more than regular gas, but it is definitely worth it!

3 pointsmy experience with w/h paint , is that it is very stout, and can be recovered. recently at the zagrey farm show in colchester , i was talking to other horse owners that had buffed out their paint , with similar results to mine. this recovery won,t obviously work on a tractor that is covered in rust. i use a 6" palm buffer with a mild paint cutter , in a series of steps, to steadily gain on finish. you cannot do this in one step, but with a small buffer its pretty easy . i like the meguiars paint products for easy work, and the instant wax detailer they have is very easy to use. the transition from grunge to vintage clean is what i like , retaining the character of the tractor in a matching original paint. this clean up is easy , and it works for me , jmoo , pete

3 pointsI can assure you that it didn't actually cost $9.98 to ship. It probably cost $3 and the seller tacked the other $6 on to con you out of a few more bucks. If there are ever shipping options, I will pick USPS instead of UPS or FedEx. They're cheaper and faster 90% of the time. As far as shipping goes, I don't care if there is free shipping or not. I generally go for the cheapest combined price. I know people that won't buy something unless it has free shipping, even if it means they spend $5 more. Makes absolutely no sense to me.

3 pointsThis is my dedicated loader tractor. I do like the way it operates, it’s good for around the yard things but as many here will tell you it’s hard to steer with a full bucket of dirt. I am an equipment operator by trade so I know it’s kind of a toy but it is a handy thing to have. Changing from the loader to a mower deck will not be a quick thing. I’d recommend leaving it on and getting another tractor to mow.

3 points@FAST just few words to build it self: I can give you maybe an suggestion for your decision, because i build actual another one myself. Yes, not for a Wheelhorse, but that was another story. After i recalculated the Money i invested in plain material i’m a bit cheaper, but until all was finished i could also buy one, that is allready finished and saved about 500$. Ok, i had my own imaginations, how i will do that, but if i have to do this again, i think it was cheaper to buy an final product and rework it as needed for my purposes. The plain Material cost was just one side of the medal, the time you’re invest to build this is the other side. Don’t underrate the work at all. it was several hours of Welding and cutting and drilling, but i have parently access to a well equipped Workshop. If i calculate additional my used time i must invest to build, i‘m sure it where cheaper to buy a final product, what is in good condition. Don’t underestimale how much addon parts are needed an how much parts have to be build, ( i did it) and how much Time it takes, also for few items you need a very good equipped Workshop. If i wasn‘t be able, to use the Weldingtable in our office, i could some things not do as i did. it was definitely not „much cheaper“ to build your own, thats for sure. I found the offer ok. just my 2 cents.

3 pointsI'm a huge fan of them and wished I could find early ones like yours. Although I went through the deck and all new bearings I seldom use it for mowing. I work it pulling tubs around and yard work due to the easy on easy off seating. As for worth not much I fear. I paid a Franklin and a quarter for mine but would think older ones worth more. Worth definitely hinges on shape. I would go as high as 350 for a great shape REO like yours little red.
-
3 pointsI am also big fan of the “Little Reo’s”... brings back memories of cutting the family lawn when I was young

3 pointsThere is no problem in asking questions. That is my loader you are referring to. As shown in the video attached to the classified, the loader is mounted on a 416-H, which has the same basis frame as the C-141. One of the reasons that I wanted to modify the sub-frame (and didn't) was due to the fact the hood on the 416-H is wider than the C-series and I could not open it completely. The only thing you will have to do after attaching the sub-frame and loader to your C-141 is to modify or fabricate a bracket to mount the pump conveniently to the area of the PTO. There are many options/choices. Many posts on this forums show mountings of all types and configurations. Bob

3 pointsWant something else to "chew on"? I just recently learned that corn on the cob is actually not even good for us to eat. It is NOT a vegetable. It's a grain. A VERY sugary grain at that. The high sugar content (negative) outweighs the positives of consumption. Now look at all your food labels for High Fructose Corn Syrup... And try to stop eating all if them. The human body has a difficult time processing it, if able to do it at all. The lack of availability of whole real gas is disappointing to say the least. I'm lucky enough to have a couple places to get it but both are about 20 minutes each way the wrong direction of travel. We keep 3 cans for small engine equipment but daily/weekly filling a vehicle would be too inconvenient. That's a primary reason why I don't want an older vehicle for now. I've rebuilt a few larger carbs in the past and I have no desire to make that a part of a vehicular maintenance program for a daily driven car/truck that I need to depend on for work. It's time to move the farms that grow corn to another crop and move on. Easy? No. I realize that.

3 pointsThis is a suburban I did, but might help ya get a idea of what it will look like.

3 pointsThe solution is simple. Buy another one for a spare. Have two runners and if you have work to do, it will get done, even if you rob a part and trade around occasionally. [ let the addiction begin]

2 pointsAll of these files pertain to this model of tractor and are in no particular order. The last one is Detailed Wiring which is very helpful. Each circuit has it's own diagram. https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/search/?&q="41-20oe02"&type=downloads_file&search_and_or=or Garry

2 pointsHere is a improvement I made to my C-120 as the hole for the clutch idler was worn. I drilled them out to 5/8" and added oillite bushings. Did the same with the PTO lever, but I did saw the bushing in half for both clutch and PTO as I didn't need them that long.

2 pointsI have an ark loader (although it’s tagged as Wheel Horse) on a C-141 8 speed. I believe I paid $1600 for it 15 years ago. I purchased them separately but when I put them together it looked like they were meant to be. My C-141 even has the wrong hood decals but they match the decal on the loader frame so I left them on the hood. Here’s my future son-in-law moving our new grill for assembly.

2 pointsMcMaster, purchased stuff there when I was working. Most of the time one day ship from their OH warehouse to western Pa. I ask the gal that was taking my orders why they we so fast, she told me they have a UPS terminal right in the middles of that OH warehouse. Dedicated to their needs. Always top quality stuff, and mostly American made.

2 pointsI think you'll be amazed at the traction with those rubber chains Bob. With steel chains, I could not get up my steep paved driveway with the plow or blower raised. I had to plow down only and circle around thru the grass to get back to the top. With the rubber chains I can plow up and down.
-
2 pointsWell, I gave her a sniff of petrol and fired her up today. She ran fine, bit of a backfire or two but for the first run in over 12 years I'm quite happy. Not to mention I've had her in bits on the bench and it actually runs lol. Made a new wiring loom too so everything looks neat and tidy. Time to start finding out the other bits now. Mick

2 pointsIt was a quick lathe job, nothing special. I bonded the old stick into my new cap with JB weld rapid.
-
2 pointsI dunno @Ed Kennell, @formariz, @stevasaurusand I have sip of it now and then and we is still kickin!
-
2 pointsThat $1500 is a decent price, especially if Bob has it. Almost bet it is in tip top shape. The parts for those loaders get more expensive each day, Cylinders, pumps etc just seem to keep going up, at least the higher quality ones/
-
2 pointsI like those hubs McGrew machined. The best part is the bore can be custom fit to the shafts and get the perfect fit.
-
2 pointsI agree with all of the above. Can't stand ethanol in the least. I've taken the carbs off some GT's that have sat for a while and it looks like sunny beach inside the bowl. Can't be good for the engine at all, so I'm like Eric and I drive about 20 minutes out of my way to fill my three cans with ethanol free and every once and a while I take my little 2 cycle can and fill it up too. 2 cycles really seem to not like the ethanol.
-
2 pointsIt is a starter/generator unit. I am going to tear it back apart tonight when i get home. I wish finding a spare unit was that easy. I tries robbing the one off my other horse but it is too different. Its shorter and doesn't fit the mount, and the mounts don't swap either. Since it started making noise in only 10 minutes it should be obvious once i am inside, i am just tired to tearing it apart. At least it isnt a Ford where I would have to spend three hours removing other parts to get to it.

2 pointsThat is one of the things that has always bugged me about Kelli’s 523D and the whole XI line. It seems like the factory tires were undersized (visually) for the size of the tractor. Note the visual difference in the comparison of my two diesels... Someday I would like to put a set of 24-12-12’s on Kelli’s and maybe a little larger front tire as well. Those All Terrain treads look tough for sure. Where have I seen those before🤔...
-
2 pointsThank you both. I was wanting to build one myself but now seeing this has me wondering if just buying one would be better. Problem is if I make it I can customize it more. Guess I need to think on it some more. Thanks again

2 pointsWhat an inaugural post!!! There is two ways to go about this: 1.)the no-name thing worked for Clint in the spaghetti westerns of the 1960’s... 2.) You have to give a worthy Horse a name of its own. Here’s a few from our stable... Left to Right—Comanche, JackRabbit, Vader, GhostRider, and RED. (That is the machines names—not the humans) I, like the others, can’t wait to see pictures of this “Horse with no name”! Welcome to THE forum!!!
