So, I'm on vacation in Orlando with my family for 10 days. I told Tom @Zeek that if I had a couple of free hours that I would try to pay him a visit at his new home. Well I did just that. Drove about 1-1/2 hours each way and with his good directions, I easy found his beautiful new "horse ranch". Had a great visit with Tom and Sue and got the tour. Here I am (in the hat) with Zeek in front of his red golf cart (it is Florida, right?) In the golf cart ready for my tour. In the "outback" chasing wild turkeys. Tom and Sue on their front porch. Here's the new garage we saw earlier on his relocation thread. Very nice. You might need some more tractors Tom A side shot of the house. So that ends my visit. Wish I could have stayed longer, but I left 5 others in our rented Villa with no transportation. Hope to get back again Tom.

I own 10 Wheel Horses and 4 other brands on Tuesday I was able to get a Case 130 the person I got it from saved it from the scrap yard fifteen years ago never had a chance to restore so he decided to sell I am going to try and save it.

Counter weights at the rear of the tractor will reduce the weight applied to the front spindles, my home made weight box is probably no more than 250 pounds, but the steering effort is greatly reduced.

Saw this listed on Facebook Market Place and was misspelled so not sure if anyone even went to look at it. So I went and looked at the tractor and made an offer. However, that owner said they weren't ready to sell that cheap yet and would let me know. Guess they realized the tractor wasn't going to sell for the price they had it listed for and called me 3 days later. The 520 was perfect for dragging the tractor out of its current resting place and on to the trailer. The serial number is not one on the list so is another survivor. The tractor has been sitting outside under a tree for at least 5 years. Transmission gear shift is broken off, wrong steering wheel, destroyed original front tire, wrong opposite front tire, cut up drive belt guard, on and on and on..... The goal is for me to get it back up and running. Have a long road ahead but hopefully can stay focused and not lose interest in this project. Here is the first video. Please don't make fun of it as this is my first attempt at youtube https://youtu.be/p3QHlsoPyds

Small show here but Dan @Achto obviously likes to strut his stuff in his hometown. Me thinks you are hoarding Dan! He even picked up a vertical 210 for the outrageous price of $0.00 for the occasion! More pics tommorow but no guarantees ..we'll see what we can do. Weather outlook is not promising. I have five ther now with four more to haul in the AM. I can not count how many he has ther without taking my shoes off and it's too wet for that! Not looking to be good as we are the only ones with GT's ther. Usually more guys set up by now Dan says.

OK so what day is it anyway. I heard sirens last Tuesday at 10:30am...so that was the 1st Tuesday of whatever month this is. I think it is either Thursday of Friday. Hey, I can read this without my glasses. Emoji is the same size though.

My plan for now is to clean and repair and get it running and moving.

Finished up the transmission and got it connected to the frame. While I was waiting on transmission part gave the blast cabinet a real workout with a lot of small stuff. Then got ambitious and took the tower apart. Parts book shows the collar with the lift arms removable from the shaft. Soaked that sucker for two weeks with penetrate. Didn't even phase it. So....the tower frame complete with lift arm went into the blast cabinet. Boy was that FUN!!! The basic frame is done and the rest of the parts are getting their final coats (don't have enough "clothesline") A guy I met a while back called me last Monday and said he was going to sell his 83 C-175, plow and snow blower. Already have a nice plow and rebuilt a snow blower last summer. Not looking to rebuild another snowblower or a plow. Guess I'll have to list em on the classified.

If you strip the old paint off with some lacquer thinner I suspect the Walbro number will show up. All my WH Kohlers have Walbro carbs. Take a Dremel and grind those screws flush with the shaft so you can pull it out. You might try your luck at drilling out the old screws with a tiny drill bit, then running a small tap in to see if the screws will go out the back side.

Still a long way to go but baby steps. The tires I got for the front are not Wheel Horse branded as mentioned but correct tread style. Just hope they will work because the whether cracks are pretty bad. After taking the second video I was able to hook up a battery and get the motor to turn over. No spark as I was expecting so will try to get the new coil, condenser, points, and spark plug installed this weekend and hope for a running 10 H.P. Kohler. Thanks for following.

Lol Sparky... I would make him pay on said date! Those tires look to be similar to the ones on my plow tractor and they do run wide for just 10.50's

They come in many different grits, you have to specifically ask for the grit and diameter you are looking for or need as most parts stores only carry 1-2 sizes and grits that are used most commonly. https://dannysengineportal.com/ball-hone/.

I have had well over 500 lbs in the rear hitch of a C-195. Same transaxle as the rest. No problems what so ever, bouncing around with that. But it takes some weight in the front to keep it usable. Also, the further behind your rear axle you put your counterweight, the more it lifts the nose of the tractor. You can figure this out very precise if you want, so that you can counterbalance the weight of the FEL fully, and only have the load in the bucket to worry about. It's pretty simple. You have 2 pivot points, and you can find the momentum's around them, and then adjust till it looks sound. Remember to take into account the offset in weight from lifting your bucket to max height. Don't want it to be too light on the front when you lift high either.

That thing is awesome!!! For that one I'm definitely in the "leave it sweaty" camp.

I have two FEL's on 520H frames. just under 400 on one, 325 on the other and both have an additional 125 in the wheel weights. Been running them a couple years.....no issues. Two things that will get you in trouble is working on a hill, and having the relief valve set to high. I like to stack concrete blocks in the bucket and set it to relieve at about 12 blocks. The back yard is a 17 percent slope and I have come down it with a load of rock in the bucket and had the rear wheel loose traction. When I am not sure, I will back down the hill and always ready to drag the bucket.

Finished putting the gear box back together and installing it all back under the little RR-65. After that decided to pull the carb off for a good cleaning and replace the fuel lines that were hard as a rock. The thing hasnt been worked on in 50 years. Ordered the carb kit and have the rest of it soaking in the cleaner. Keeping my fingers crossed that I got the transmission all back together right. Find out when I get the carb installed

I know I'm not the only one around here that's slowed down for a promising junk pile, but this has to be the coolest thing I've ever rescued from the curb. it needed a new socket but other than that and a very small crack in one pane it is completely intact. My best guess is 1930's ish but I haven't found anything to confirm or deny that. The pattern is apparently called a Moravian Star and has some really neat history associated with it.

Could also be something floating in the tank choking off the fuel supply, a plugged up filter, weak fuel pump or it could need a valve job. Hard to say without seeing it run. I'm only about 15-20 minutes away from you @Shannon maybe I can come up and take a look at it for you. -Wayne

I'm pretty sure it's Friday. I really do hope it's Friday because I'm NOT going to work tomorrow and I work Monday through Friday. If today is Thursday my employer could be a little irritated when I don't show up tomorrow. I hope it's Friday.

Great thread Kevin! It is so cool to see Hot Wheels go from the builder @953 nut to another forum member who is so passionate about ‘s. It will continue to be part of our community and a visible part at that! I also think it is really cool that it is mostly Rylee’s tractor, if I understand correctly, and therefore it is affecting another whole generation of people! Can’t wait to see what you come up with for this plow mount. As with my “dedicated” tractor threads, I enjoy these build and maintain threads for not only the information they provide but also the fabric of life content to them. Cool tractor. Cool thread.

Due to the restrictions of table travel and the vice, I completed half of my rough work and need to move the piece. I’ll pick up the other end and start machining the other side the same way.

It’s been a while since I played on this thread, so here’s an update. Chatting with @PeacemakerJack, he mentioned it would be cool to have a plow hitch that mounts to a plow / tiller axle bracket. Well, here’s my start. I don’t believe having the tractor at an angle will change much, but it’s on the hoist anyway. I drilled out some 3/4” jam nuts and pressed them onto a piece of 3/4” rod. This’ll be the start of Hot Wheels’ plow hitch. The nuts will most likely get welded to the rod as a stop as the hitch progresses.

Those old Case GT’s are stout little machines. Great save...I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with it

Mine has well over 280 lbs hanging off the back (backhoe) and needed to add front wheel weights to help balance it out. A good solution is to add about 300 lbs of counter weight and use suitcase weights for adding and removing weight as needed for different tasks.

I suggested a Rollover Protector while working on slope with a FEL That will allway’s be a requirement for your own safety. I just can talk for my cheapy 212 but with an cast Frontaxle, with heavy loaded by FEL using. With sleeve bearing Rims a regular grease Service is urgently recommanded. Otherwise it worns strongly. The Axle lasts easily a weight of 110 kilos, thats about 242 pounds. i used my FEL in the last Winter excessively, because we had a lot of Wet heavy Snow. First time i doubt, it will work that way, because no ridgid Steelframe, but i‘ll learned a Wheelhorse is a Wheelhorse the cast frontaxle self will last that weight. no bending at all was measured, just the Rims with sleevebearing worns out. if you have a Ballbearing Rims, i see no issues in case of regular Service (greasing)

Very nice, thanks a lot for all the suggestions. Exactly what kind of information and opinions I was looking for.
  46. 2 points
I've wondered the same thing a million times. I see people claiming their FEL's can handle 600+ lbs., but I can't see the front spindles handling that in addition to the weight of the tractor. I think the bearings can handle it if in good shape and well greased, but I think other components would need to be beefed up. The rear axles might be capable of a bit more since the axles are larger, but the limiting factor will be the strength of the transmission case. Definitely following this. I'd love to find a FEL for my GT and be able to move engines around in spaces where a large tractor won't fit, but I don't see the tractor being up to the task.

Many a thread this been discussed Cribs. I favor the ball hones. I have no idea what grit they are but would suspect 220.

@FAST This is just my opinion on an FEL. I have used a Kwik-Way on 3 of my WH Tractors a C-165, 417-8 and a 520 H with the forward swept axle and reduction steering. The 520 - H was by far the most stable and easiest to steer, the 417-8 was stable but the steering was very hard and the least stable was the C-165 which I feel really needed Rear Dual Wheel Adapters and would highly recommend them. I found that it was a very handy attachment for many things but do not expect it to work like a much larger machine than what it is. It is great for moving firewood, bark mulch, and loading different things into a Pickup Bed and not so good trying to get a full bucket of material from a pile, it seems the Bucket cylinders do not curl as much as I would have liked them to do. Overall a very well engineered and well built attachment and a heck of a lot more fun than a wheelbarrow. I hope this helps and as I said earlier JMO.

Trust me, spend the money on a set of good plans. It's money well spent on a proven design and not that much compared to the overall cost to build one. I used pfengineering.com for back hoe plans. His plans are pretty good but they're just that, plans. There's no step by step instructions with them but you can get plenty of help from him (Paul) or right here on RedSquare. If you are good with engineering your own stuff check out these free FEL plans. I have some free basic Back hoe plans somewhere too
