7 pointsI haven't been around for a while, life got busy and ya know how that goes. I thought I'd post a life update and I also see Photobucket no longer links so maybe some pics too. Anywhoo... If you go back in my posts you will see we have the old 953 which was happily chugging away in a ravine clearing off trails and hauling out wood and cow manure. Well we bought a small overgrown farm last yr or so, and The first machine to move was the old WH. The place was 6 or 7 feet under iron weeds and brush so other than a topo map and some guessing, alot of it was just follow the fences and hope you don't die. The old WH with the dozer blade went to work. I sharped the bottom of the blade so it was like a big razor, scrape/slicing off weeds as it went. We ran it along the fences, which was fine until the day I discovered there was a drop off on one end of the property and but for the trees that stopped my plummeting I'd have ended up in the creek far below with the WH. It was in 1st gear so it slid down the slope at a gentle pace, nosed into the creek and gracefully flopped butt over tin cups on its back. No worry... I flipped it onto its wheels and it puttered back to work. After I changed my underwear and patched a few cuts. Once we got the fields all mapped out, I hooked up a 44" tow behind brush hog/trail cutter to the WH, and mowed about 7 acres of slopes and fields off. The cows all helped with that too, they took out the hedgerows and alot of brush along the creek. Last yr it rained for months so the whole place was awash in mud... which mean I had to add more wheels and come chains and weights. Also a wide plywood bench seat and some other comforts. Even so it got stuck in one of the low spots along the creek and being cold and wet I tarped it and abandoned it for the time being.... which turned out to be all winter plus. During that time the creek flooded, and it hit the plow face on, shoved the little guy a couple yards down the hollow and it was actually under water for a few days. I figured it was at best now... parts. So one sunny semi dry summer day, I took the old 4x4 and pulled the old thing up to a level spot and gave it a checkup. The Harbor Freight 301cc engine was full of water, case and cylinder. The gearbox was full of water. The tires were full of water.... don't ask me how. But to the credit of harbor freight, after I drained the water and flushed the oil, it coughed back to life, and I very slowly chugged it back to the barns along paths it cleared off before. After a lot of cleaning, draining, and new oils.... some slime for the tires and a new plywood seat deck it went right back into working. For now its job is to keep the trails scraped clean, pull the trail cutter around when needed and to scrap the barn yard clear now and then.... and to serve as an all terrain farm taxi and fence maintenance truck. Recently the rear axle seals started to leak... it still works. I learned that the rear bolt pattern is the same as a ford ranger 5 bolt.... and old brake rotors make fine wheel weights as they bolt right on the outer wheel on the dual wheels. Also, green sch40 sewer pipe makes a fine wheel spacer for a standard 12" 5 bolt tractor rim. Here are some recent pics... after a wet day of clearing mud off the cow trails. My brother recently traded me a mower for his old 88' 520H but I don't think it'll take the beating this one has lived thru. But it might make a better field mower as it rides a lot nicer. I plan to bolt a 22" push mower on each side of the trail cutter, and make a functional 88" tow behind mowing deck for meadow maintenance. I'll try not to drive it off a cliff. Maybe a roll bar would be a good idea. But they gutted all the wires and gauged out and its scabbed up to run without them.... not the best idea on a hydro but I'll stick some gauges on it one way or the other. I'd have preferred an older WH with a gearbox and less to go wrong but... you can't argue with free stuff right?

6 pointsDon't have wheel weights for my commando 800 and want to use it with the 36 inch snow blower I got from Bigmike last weekend, so this is my way of adding some extra weight along with my 220 lb. Butt and of course chains. It equals 45 extra lbs.

5 pointsWas a nice cool evening after work today, so I loaded up the 753 and brought it to our new house. Kids really enjoyed going for a ride. Going to build a barrel train to pull behind it in the near future.

4 pointsMy mate and I picked up a rather sorry looking C-125 today. I forgot to take my camera with me, so no photo's. I'll take it when I go over to his place to try and sort it out. First job will to get it running. Spins over with ease but getting no spark at the plug. It's certainly no show girl. But it's for towing a trailer in the woods of the property that's just been bought. So an out and out worker. Paintwork is pretty rough, but tin ware is straight. Plastic type fender is broken at the back and seat is badly worn/torn. Steering wheel wobbles and that may be because the split dowel is not all the way through. One end is sticking out. Battery needs a clamp and one of the rubber hood catches is missing the hook. It will get a set of ags on the back, as the woods are quite steep. I'll update as things progress.

4 pointsThanks Eric. The old IH is a pretty beat up but she still gets the job done. There's a DT466 under the hood backed up by a Spicer 5 speed, she will pull 11mpg with 5 small farm tractors loaded on that trailer & has no lack of power.

This is a 2 mile long road that connects state route 74 and Felton road. 2015 tar and chip 2016 paved with 2" asphalt 2017 14- 3' wide cuts from berm to berm to replace the 14 galvanized culverts with plastic 2018 paved with 4" of asphalt 2019 tar and chip 2020 install a sewer or water main down the center of the road This is my prediction based on PENNDOT's previous lack of planning.

The leaves changing, crops to get off, and the harvest thing in general, what's not to like? Horn of plenty always comes to mind of year this time. Turkey day creeping up too fast.. days getting shorter, fall colors... you get my meaning. I'll start it off with a simple one but way this place looks ther will be plenty more if it ever quits raining! Get them cameras out and let see some of your fall decos! 3 pointsMy new wheel bearings showed up today. 👍 I was very pleasantly surprised by the fact they’re super beefy compared to the ones it my front rims. But even happier to see they’re made in USA about 40 min away.

3 pointsOne of my junk yard dogs. Dang fine all season worker. If you want to use a bagger, you'll need to find a 42" or 48" side discharge mower deck. C-141 will swing either o e easily.

2 pointsI dont generally shop for hard used items at HF but some of their items cant be beat. I recently bought the large sandblasting cabinet they carry to aid a restoration Im in the middle of and couldn't be happier but thats not why I started this thread. The cabinet is great but it demands simple modifications. One had need of small 10/24 hardware so i grabbed a box of assorted fasteners for maybe $4. I just realized these bolts have a recess in them just like some of the bolts on a wheel horse. Ive never seen this feature on anything at home depot or lowes and thought anyone wanting new hardware for a resto might appreciate this tid bit

2 pointsHey Dan, that looks like it may be designed to prevent pedestrians from jaywalking. They would have to wade across the pond to enter the street....if there was a street. Or, it looks like a good place to park and change your oil. The drainings will also kill the weeds.

2 pointsSame here. To protect your paint in front on the Car, here offers several small business a transparent Foil, they brought on at hard chipped areas. That foil is about 0,25mm thick, that helps to prevent. but while not that cheap, it mostly just make sense on newer Cars. about 200US$ for complete front include bumpers, and the sides from tyre to tyre about 5 cm in height. the making depends on Carsize about 5h. but for a new(er) Car it‘s worth to do. no chippings with that Foil.

2 pointsTwo link on loaded Ag's with limited slip diff, 1975 Simplicity 9020 with original Onan. No cross ties necessary, To get the chains on snug you can deflate the tire bu a few psi then reinflate once the chains have been installed. Chains are bidirectional, the pair I'm using were repurposed from a set of commercial truck chains that were made for use on Canadian ice roads. Ice Road, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_road I keep the fenders off as a broken chain can ruin one in a hurry and someday I may want to restore this tractor back to its original condition.

2 pointsAlnost all of my work tools and tool box are Harbor Freight. Very inexpensive so I can afford more variety! I have never broken any of their tools that I was using correctly. Any tool that did break I would have expected a failure from any other brand as well. This weekend I went out on a limb and purchased some left hand drill bits from them. They made short work of a broken head bolt in my K181.

2 pointsI don't know Jim. I just got back from the auction....about a 5 mile trip. I stayed under 20 MPH and it sounded like the bottom of the van was being shot blasted. Yeah, I was smart enough to drive Mrs K's Caravan instead of my F-150. She will never notice the tar and chips.

2 pointsYesterday we visited Köln, a familiar place. After walking around the Cathedral, we revisited the site that I gave my wife a 10 year anniversary wedding ring 2 years back. Then off to an indoor ski area. What a great idea! The Cathedral was originally started in 1248, took well over 200 years to complete and had to be entirely rebuilt after the war. They were built so tall in that time to be a central focal point for travelers to find church service or the city for food and rest. We have climbed the staircase to the top before, such magnificent sights to see in every direction!

1 pointLOL this is my first tractor with the "shaker plate", and it works-engine shakes!! I think I need to replace the mounts as I can see the engine shift as I engage the pto, but I have it so it doesn't slip now. When I replace them I will go with the solid mounts.
