Best get that out of there. A Ford part may ruin that engine for ever.

Yeah it does cover some grounds in a hurry The nicest thing is that it cuts rather OK, even at that speed. Groundspeed is about the same as a commercial grade z-turn. This thing does the lawn in 45 minutes, where as my old c-120 42" took 2.5 hours. As does my scrubs mower, a craftsman 42". The 195 with the Kohler KT19 took about an hour. Best thing is a complete mowing has dropped the fuel consumption from a tad over 2 gallons of gas, to just shy of 1 gallon of diesel. 0.85 to be precise Some might ask what the reasoning is behind this project. Pretty simple actually. It takes less time to get the work done, and it is a joy to have power in abundance no matter what. But the biggest + is the economy of it. Fuel prices are stupid high here in the EU compared to the US. Gas is also significantly more expensive than diesel. On the fuel savings on a single mowing, there is a 10$ advantage. Or about 13.5$ per hour. I put at least 50 hours on this machine each year, so the quick math is a fuel saving of about 700$ a year.......................boom............... In my case, that makes it an investment with a very short full return time. In the US, had I been using this machine there, and based on the online prices I could find today. 2.85 for gas, and 2.90 for diesel. That would make for a fuel saving of 215$ a year, based on regular gas and no magic potions mixed inn. Not insignificant I would say

Yeah, I have very few electric tools. Given the nature of my work, and the industry standards, most of my stuff is pneumatic. Now if I could find an air-powered chain saw my one air reel would reach out the garage window and right into the problem area.

As stated on a previous post my oil pressure light keeps flashing regardless of everything I have tried. Rather than being worried about the actual oil pressure I elected to install an actual gauge along with also a hydro temperature gauge. Quite a bit of work but worth it. Oil pressure is actually much higher than expected with 25 at 1500 RPM going to about 59 at full throttle. Having a bit of an issue with the hydro temperature sensor. Was working fine but suddenly no reading. Will replace that shortly.

Could be worse, it could be a John Deer letter.

Now this week I had thrown in my lab, that I needed to go figure out how to do some basic video editing. Today i get a Buddy’s Trailer, now we will be prepared for Road Approval. Curious what they Meant. The guy with whom i talked all about, was not able to do, because he’s out of Order by Family, so a Collegue of him make the Approvals. i hope that‘s a good Sign. I feel like in the School, short before Test was out.

Got some work done to and with both horses today. First we got some wood piled and cleaned up. I used the wagon on the 855 to move it up to the porch, and once the pieces in the pile got too small I got the 800 out with the plow and just dozed the rest up to the edge of the porch. Then I yanked the implement handle out of the 800 and got it fixed. The two forward holes had the threads all rotted out, so drill, tap, and heli-coil. Works much better now. I also got a butterfly pin for the cross shaft, so now it doesn't fall out. I still need to grease the release button and it looks like the return spring for the button is pooched, so I need to replace that yet. Then I got my HY pump fixed. I finally found and fixed that. There was a roll pin not in the whole way hitting something it shouldn't have, and not allowing full rotation of the fluid valve.

The new lower steering support arrived today. Fixed the problem. Steering is as tight as the day it was new! Appears to be no wear in the vertical steering column - saved me $50.

I have the DeWalt 20V tools and my kids got me the chainsaw for Christmas. I sort of scoffed at it but that saw really cuts great and the battery lasts a long time. I love it for quick cleanup’s. We actually used it while cutting wood last year for limbing and cleaning up treetops. It works great.

Mowed 2 1/2 yards today. Pulled the lawn sweeper along behind the 'new' RD deck. Impressed with how well that deck cuts and how well the yard looked after cutting with that combination. Odd thing happened, though. I had some belt squeal when the deck was engaged. Looked like there was a lot of belt vibration, so I tightened the deck drive belt. Still had some squeal. I leaned over and looked at the PTO pulley to make sure the belt was tracking and the belt looked 'funny' in the pulley groove. Shut the PTO off idled over to the driveway to take a closer look. I found that the belt had flipped upside down in the PTO pulley, but was tracking correctly on the deck and mule drive. I twisted the belt the right way up, rolled that around the PTO pulley, and it ran fine the rest of the day. It is a new belt, and I didn't check the tension before I started mowing. I guess the belt stretched a little, loosened up and twisted on the PTO pulley before I re-tightened it. Did some trailer work, too. Two loads of boxes down the hill to the lake house then shoveled the ashes out of the two fire rings. Anybody out there have a battery powered chain saw? I've got several tools that use the Black & Decker 20V lithium battery system. B&D also makes a small chain saw that uses the same battery. Looks like it would be handy for small jobs that getting the gas saw running would be too much of a hassle for.

I would say no. The manual describes use of a flashlight tester so 1.5 volts would be max. Garry

Yesterday the Belt arrives. firstly i try in a hurry to insert, and wonder Why it will not Fit. Firstly i doubt i‘m made a fail in measuring, but it was allway‘s a good idea, to take some Picts before you disassemble a thing. a simply Fail while wrong insert clears up, where was my mistake. at later night, i review my Picts and found one, where the Belt is shown. I insert it in right direction and the mower fits. i wonder a bit because of stiff spanner, so i get some Gease and bring it back to work. Maybe this was the reason, while the old belt Lasts that quick. However, i try the Mower firstly on slighter grass, later in higher grass. Yes, it works well again. After harvesting my last potatoes, i decide to clean up the Field, but i didn‘t want to do it manually. So i develop a Stupid idea, Why nor use the Wheelhorse, as long as Mowerdeck was out for Cleaning. That was the Rest i can keep for myself.... 😎 Because the neighbours ask for a Try. I‘m proud, they ask me, so it give me the feeling my harvested Result can not be Bad. i spend some and keep for us just 3,5 Kilos. The complete Harvest was now all together 28Kilo by inserted 5 Kilo. Anyway, Than i search for few Quickstraps and bound my Manual Tiller onto my FEL. So i can do the Job while having some Seattime on my beloved Horse. I wanna move the Beast, while it‘s prepared for Road Approval. Did you use 1 quart of gear lube? Older manuals didn't specify the oil or amount. See this manual, Page 19.

That's a 1954-58 MowMaster Fairlawn. (Atleast by prototype) I owned two of them. One identical to that, and one with a different handle and a little 'grille' at the front. The exhaust runs under the footplate and out the front on both models. 3.5 B&S with a chain driven fwd-rev box under the seat. The design was later bought by Bolens and they sold it in a bright gold color around 1960. MotoMower also rebadged the thing at some point in time.

Took a ride on the Stourbridge Line along the Laxawana river in Honesdale, Pa. They won't have to use the plow for another month or two.

Nice to know there are repro parts out there. So, reverse rubber for sure... I don't see where I'm missing a foot rest. The resto's I've seen just have a foot peg on the left side. My right side has the foot pedal that's attached to the drive lever, and a foot peg. It didn't take much to get this running. Everything seems to work. I did put a set of tires on it, inc. different / slightly larger front wheels. Engine is not orig. and is a 1969 9hp Briggs. I'll likely do a full resto on this, not overly concerned w/ originality, but will want it to at least look period correct. I'll somehow use a Kabota replacement muffler like on the Yardman hot rod mower as I really don't like a lot of noise. Color I envision is a light mint pearl (like the inside of an Andes Mint) with cream accent for wheels, seat, engine, jackshaft. I have the rear fenders as well.

There have been a couple question recently about how to test the trigger in a Breakerless iginiton system. Working triggesr are worth money so it is best to test before you discard. Manual calls for a flashlight tester which I doubt many of us have. Here are a couple of pictures to show how you can easily make one up. All you need is a couple batteries and old incandescent flashlight bulb (I use a PR2) and some alligator clip jumper wires. First picture show hook up to test the diodes second the switch.

I'm working, My Amish neighbor showed up in my shop at 7AM this morning. He and his wife had been picking corn and cantaloupes since 3AM. Seems his 3yo was playing on his fork lift and managed to lose the keys. He was in a bit of a panic as he had to load 7 containers of sweet corn and 2 containers of cantaloupes and get it to auction by 9AM. A wheel Horse ignition switch had the Hyster Fork Lift running in 20 minutes. He paid me with 4 ears of corn and a cantaloupe.
