I have located an axle and it should be here today! Thanks Tyson @Shuboxlover, you saved the day! Having a bit of down time and having had to remove so much sheet metal I decided a little beauty treatment was in order for the GT-14. Previous owner had painted it an orangey red color I wasn't too fond of.

Just finished some night time mowing. 30 year old bulbs still lighting the way.

Since I had to remove so much sheet metal from the GT-14 to remove and repair the transmission I decided to spray some IH RED and make it look more presentable.

A thorough cleaning and bit of maintenance is all it took to save this deck from the our local scrap dealer today.

Your explanation makes total sense! Not only do I live under a rock in most cases, that rock is in the middle of a flat field maybe you just need a warning decal from Terry.... “this side UP-MOUNTAIN”.

What do you think I've got in there? Gold bars?

We are good here in Florida. Itylike 300 degrees out with the humidity and the sun cooking you. As for the NC location, no house yet. Momma is living with her son. They are getting a lot of rain and some wind. Still waiting for her weather report this morning. The Lord sure watched over us on this one.

Thankfully we dodged the bullet on that one . so it was a good dry-run for hurricane prep. I'm still one the fence about window boards . . . some have, most don't. I'm thinking I may precut and store a few for a couple larger windows that are on the wind side of the house in case we get pop-up tornado or whatever during one of these. However, like one news guy said "Hey, except for the couple of hurricanes we have to worry about, the rest of the time it's great! So far I have to agree, headed to a west coast beach for a few days next week for our anniversary that we tabled until the Dorian and Labor Day passed.

I moved a couple mower horses to their winter pasture. Organized the herd to make room for Mikes new boat. The snow mover came back home for winter duty. The 854 and 877 are waiting for the 2010 Big Show.

It's been awhile, but I finally found someone to sandblast a couple sets of wheels for me. Last weekend I got them cleaned up and primed. When I got home from work, I got the inside of the rims painted, so that's enough for today. They can sit now overnight, giving them a chance to harden up some so I flip them tomorrow afternoon and paint the outside of the rims. Then they can sit another week and I'll get the tires mounted and back on the tractors.

Okay so first things first. Let me just clarify that I absolutely AM overthinking this. I pretty much do that with everything. I have a very analytical mind and to me that's part of the fun of the build. So to get to the actual reality of why I'm asking these questions... Please keep in mind that I am no mathematician or physical scientist but... I've been through quite a lot of crane and forklift training over the years and obviously be physical act of picking up a load is a huge part of all of that training. To bring it down to basics there are two types of weight, or load. Static load or weight in poundage. The actual weight without any movement. No momentum involved. Then there is Dynamic loading which is to take whatever the physical weight of the item is and add something such as wind or momentum from something like starting or stopping. So let's say you take this engine that weighs 178 lb and you add all of that 38 lbs to one side from an even split. 178 / 2. 89 lb. 89 + 38. 127. So that means you have 127 lb of 178 lb hanging off of the left-hand frame rail by about 2 in. So I'm off center on the heavy side to the left by physical weight. I'm also off center on the heavy side to the left by balance weight. Now picture the fact that I literally live on the side of a mountain and I spend a lot of time tilted one way or the other. There's where your Dynamic weight comes in. Therein lies the reasons why I want to make sure I'm at least fairly close to being balanced.

My dad purchased a set of implement tires for his 953 (basically the same as the 1054) a couple of years ago. His are listed in their catalog under implement tires and the size is 7.60-15. These are a “bar/lug” or AG (agricultural) tire. Since dad would use his tractor primarily for ground engaging implements, it is the type of tire he chose. If you desire a turf, there are some options at the above links. If you are not concerned about Garden Tractor specific, because they have standard 15” rims, auto tires work like what @pullstart has on his “HotWheels” I hope you find what you are looking for and don’t be a stranger around here!I

Spent an hour in sandblasting hell today.

Put the snowblower flag on my 310 today, cleaned her up. 310 tractor, snowblower, 42” SD mower deck for sale! It always happens! I get around a wheel horse, start it up, just listen to the to the torque of a kohler, clean it up and it makes me wonder why I’m selling it??

The first pull of my walk behind mower caused blood to run out from the shroud. At least that one will never bother me again.

Do not use dryer sheets. i tried them the mouse used it as part of his nest in a C-175. Went to start it, it started to turn over then stopped dead. Dryer sheet got wrapped around the bendix and fly wheel. had to to tow her up to the shop pull all the tins and starter motor. dryer sheets are incredibly strong. yes you can tear them length wise but try cross wise. Had to use an xacto knife needle nose pliers and lot of 4 letter words to get it cleaned out.

Oh no no no no!!!! Quite the contrary Stefan. I ask all of you for opinions, advice, help. I very much appreciate the camaraderie and assistance that I get from everyone. I like to hear and see and read about the different learning experiences and methods and trial-and-error that others have been through in the past and hope that I may learn from them. There may be 5 or 10 different ways to do something but only one or two that works for each one of us. Trina and I choose the best path or method of whatever it is that we ask and run with it, so to speak.

Hi Eric, we don't know us in person, i just like to clarify one Point to not be missunderstood, i hope i didn't bother you with my suggestions, that will be not my Way. My suggestions just for thinkerin, i would also recieved if i get. All suggestions i make, are just for a " hope i can help you" or "how about that" and not meaned, you must do it that Way. Hope we had no missunderstoods between us in that case.

@WHX24 Jim asked me a while back if he could shop vicariously through me... if I’m coming to his plow day. After a couple failed attempts at a couple C-81’s this C-125 popped up for sale. I call the guy today and he tells me he’s got a C-81 too, but needs an engine. Other than a few cosmetic issues, they both seem to be pretty solid. Other than my lack of committing to a straight line, it mows pretty well too! If the C-81 sticks around, it’ll be candidate for some other bigger engine and some wheel weights. I also picked up a spare plow. @PeacemakerJack can you tell me what this hitch was for?

Spot painted my tines on my Nine Tine Cultivator Yesterday. This is the best little cultivator you could have to clear weeds from garden rows. I have used this for years but I devised the mix of cutting blades to maximize the cutting impact. I can pull this with an RJ, a 701 or a B-80, anything with a slot hitch on it! Works great. Puts the two piece Wheel Horse cultivator set to shame. I have one and only used it one time before I started using this one in the garden.

Hi Kevin, yes theoretically it was, but the Engine is still defect at the moment. i will try to reactivate it, but than he was just usable for even Mowing or on light Slope, what does my Wheelhorse allready perfectly since a year. Because i would cutting also the Hedge, with the Sicklebar, there was no possibility to use the original Engine. Another issue was, that it must be sideway‘s beeing mounted, so that the whole Weight is more than i like to have sidely on my FEL. Keep it lightly as possible, but have the most stability, what is possible. Especially while it have not that much width, so if FEL is up, i bring on the whole Tractor the Tiltpoint more upper in a maybe uncomfortable Way. That i like to prevent by Weight reduction. i plan to rework it in a Way, it can further beeing used once in Original shape once on the FEL with an Adapter i must firstly build. So i have 2 options to use it. i don‘t wanna destroy „Edward“, i still keep him until maybe another job is found for him. 😎🤔

I guarantee that the 7.60’s That Dad is running bite good if you need traction...

Yes I have Jeff and they did excellent. I don't think I even had the weights on first time out. Maybe I did CRS! I have some inside weights to throw on now too. Tires are not loaded yet either. In our type of sandy dirt around don't know if I even need to load them. Only time I ran into problems was real wet almost swampy ground. Guys that were running Firestone 23's were having problems too tho. Once they caked with mud you were done. The track is a little wide on them tho to fit real good in a furrow. I probably shoulda went with 10.50's instead of 12's. Last set of ags I got (tru powers) in 10.50 ran narrow.

I have not had to look for tires for “Hot Wheels,” my 953 I picked up from one of our resident experts @953 nut... but they might not be the exact size you’d be looking for, as the wheels are from the automotive world... I believe Miller Tire might have a selection for you, that might be where @PeacemakerJack‘s father picked them up for his 953.

Thank you again for the fast replies, I'll see what my local napa has for carb soak tomorrow, I've brought several of these K series engines back to life after years of neglect and abuse but this one has been a real challenge, but with all your help I'm confident I'll have plenty of seat time for years to come. The best thing is learning new things, like I've always told my kids your memories, friendships and intelligence are the only things that are truly yours.
