Well I recently spent some time up in Alexandria Bay in the 1000 islands. Went up from the 17th to the 23rd. Well I was up there I met up with a guy in Ogdensburg, which is about another 30 minutes north. But the end result is this new piece of wall art. Got to build a new box for it and I'll be all set! I put a couple LED strips underneath it to get a idea of what it will look like. I will have to clean it up a little more and get a light setup figured out to spread the light a bit more even through out the sign. But either way a 6ft x 2 ft dealer sign is a cool score in my book.

Guy advertised a package deal. A 165 hydro for $200 and a 312-8 for $100. Didn't want to sell separate. So what the heck got em both. Quite pleased with 165. It's either an 88 or 89. Stout and heavy for a riding mower. The 312 wouldn't start. Has 45 psi for compession so off with the head and low and behold a blown head gasket. Easy fix, and I'll do the valves while I'm at it. Great seat and brand new rears. Yes......... $100 bucks. Same day I picked up a 418 hydro as well for $400. Runs and drives great just needs a little tlc here and there. Key switch is wonky but at least the steering wheel is custom and it came with a second deck.

Woo hoo, I get to play with the winders today! Part of doing things, is figuring why the last guy did such a shoddy job. There wasn’t any flashing between the dormer wall and roof line, so before a bit of house wrap goes on I made this piece up. It’ll help shed water the correct way!

So I finally scored on a blackhood. . Lord only knows where the rest of the tractor is! One of the reasons, aside of dealing with dad and the honeydo list, I couldn't make it to the MN show was a WH auction to beat all others. This guy was obviously a D-250 fan as ther was five of them to be had. Two were runners but definitely needed love. The other three might have been savable but??? Thing is this auction had other horses up but most in questionable shape. I was only interested in a C160 that was beat up and another 1067 that ran and the only thing it at going for it was the cigar lighter was ther and Gen light in good shape. Actually ther was a few blackhoods ther that tempted me but all had cobbled transplants. Like I need another project! Best thing was parts so that where my money went. Parts were stacked on pallets and went for 15 or less a pallet! Stirrups, idlers, hitches, hubs, trannies you name it! I now have a enough mule drives to put @Ed Kennell out of business! Just to give you 250 fans an idea ther was a pallet of three tillers for 5 bucks A pallet of two sno blowers for 10 bucks Hugh decks for 250s for 5 bucks Un believable deals for 250 fans as they couldn'tgive the stuff away I did manage to score on another older swisher for @Achto for cheap and parts galone for mid sixties tractors. Sorry for not many pics but this auctneer did fly like the wind. Interesting thing about this particular auction is that guys were buying a pallet of parts for say 15 for just for one part that was on it. When asked if other stuff was for sale or trade on another pallet they just said take it I don't want it! I came away with the hoods just cause I told the guy I wouldn't let them go to scrap.

I picked up my items I won from an online auction yesterday. the GT14 was $2, trailer was $7, jack stands were $1, air compressor was $19, and mower deck was $10 for a grand total of $39 The trailer is very heavy. I had to winch it on my trailer and when I flipped it off the trailer at home the axle broke from the weight I didn't notice but the engine block on the GT14 had a hole in it. Maybe a re-power in the future I crossed a covered bridge on the way home

Had a nice haul today. Picked up 1 1/2 C-series tractors, plus a Swisher that @WHX24 found at an auction.

They’re both in! I need to follow with some tape and finish the water shed. They are functional so will need to stay, but I’ll do my darndest to make ‘em work for me and not against me!

@T-Mo Seriously, nothing wrong with you. If I was younger, I would be collecting Panzers & Allis Chalmers with my Wheel Horses. I suggest you keep the 701...just so you don't hate yourself in the morning.

Here is the back story written on the day the axle let go. If this had occurred on level ground it would have been an inconvenience. However, our driveway has an elevation change of eighty five feet in three hundred feet with a couple of turns. I was driving my GT-14 down my Very Steep driveway when the right axle decided to work its way out of the differential (guess the snap ring came off). With that the began picking up speed rapidly. My guesstimate is that the GT-14 was traveling about 30 MPH by the bottom of the driveway! I lowered the FEL bucket but it didn't help much. I didn't want to hit a tree because the sudden stop would hurt for sure. I rode it out until it crossed the road and headed for the creek. As it approached the ditch I bailed off, when I got up I saw it sitting harmlessly at the edge of the creek. My neighbor and I pulled it back to the barn (had to jack it up and shove the axle in a couple times). God was watching over me for sure! I will have a little black eye and have a few bruises, but considering how it could have ended I feel blessed. Disney has nothing on me! Don't have any pictures, don't even ask! I Know, I Know, that means it never happened.

Well, the search ended a little sooner than I thought. Ed Kennell messaged me about having a C160 that hed gotten recently. Turns out, he only lives about 50 miles from me. I drove down this afternoon, took a look at it, and its a nice tractor, and comes with a blower that looks like it probabaly was really never used. His price was fair too based on what I've learned here and what I've seen on craigslist and Facebook market place. Always nice to make connections with people online. I am sure as I own it I will be here to ask for advice on keeping it going.

I would never suggest that Ed! I got this seat and a nice square pan for Dan for the asking! Don't know if you can make out the GE Electrac on it. Dan note the Nelson muff laying in that pile. ...

You mean I should throw these in the scrap barrel.

Hot Wheels and the mid mount grader left on loan to a buddy today. He also picked up this lawn roller, which after compacting a few yards of dirt he will have no use for. It’ll come home as “payment” for loaning the tractor. I told him I’ll need pictures to keep the thread updated and that would be payment enough .

Chris, Sorry I couldn't spend more time with you last night when I dropped off the tractor and snow blower. But we were on a mission to get back to Palmira for our grandsons 2nd baseball game. We did really get in the parade of Corvettes leaving the Carlisle show. I wanted to talk to you about the fuel system. I didn't have a chance to do any cleaning of the system. I would add about 3-4 oz. of Seafoam to the fuel that is in the tank now and run that concentration through the tractor. Then I would change the fuel filter and add new fuel. If there is a starting problem after the Seafoam treatment, I would remove the carburetor jets and clean them with carb cleaner and spray the cleaner in the jet holes. Install the jets gently till they bottom out, then back them out two turns. It should start and run fine. Then you can fine tune the low and high speed jets by searching for the max RPM as detailed in your manual. Good luck, Ed

My 84 era Goldwing was know for poor starting characteristics. Bought a rebuilt starter, made oversize cables and installed an Odyssey battery and the bike almost did handstands whilst cranking.

That's a VERY hard question to answer, especially here on Red Square... While I LOVE my personal 97 416H and the Wheel Horse / Toro brand, I have 1/2 acres to mow with my 416H, the 4wd X575 is an overall better machine than our (my bros and my camp 520XI) or My 416H. The X575 has power steering, which is nice. I think a better comparison would be a 522xi w/ Power steering and larger motor. It's a bit Apple's and Oranges though, the JD was twice as expensive as the 520XI Wheel Horse when new. If the Wheel Horse brand was around today, they would be an even better machine than they ever were. Cory

I would preferr a bit Sealant (neutal Silicone) to make a Water barrier between Wood and Metall. Wood has the ability to suck Water, called capillar effect. Just as suggestion.

Like the custom 416 steering wheel, where from? A heavy ladder in garage on the plastic maybe, but triangular is rare.

Here's a couple pics of the can. Gallon-size with a basket in it. Used a little bit of patience. Total soaking time 6 days. Really would have been fine in three or four, maybe less. I've got the carb back in place now. Need to install the air cleaner and see what happens when I bump the start switch.....

Here's a couple pictures of the carburetor in its cleaned up state. I am extremely impressed with the way this thing came out. 2 days soaking. Removed all parts and gently brushed them by hand with a wire brush under lukewarm water. 4 more days soaking. Finished cleaning up with the wire brush and a little sandpaper where it was necessary.

Hello to the forum from Mick in England. I'm located in Barnsley South Yorkshire and I have a C125 currently in pieces and being rebuilt. Hope I can find some help and inspiration on here. The Kohler K301 engines my biggest challenge and I hope it's one I can deal with. Regards Mick

Actually thinking about it further the one we have used for I think over 6 years has been nothing short of impressive. So impressive that one actually forgets that there is a battery there. All those years never had to be recharged , never a trickle charger in winter, and it is always the go to battery to jump others.

Oh what a relief! My brother was visiting for the week and wanted help around the house so we gave him a quick tutorial on how to operate our Wheel Horse. He cut about 80% and all of a sudden it wouldn't move. "So what did you do?" "I dunno?" Now we know! Oh what a relief!

Okay guys, it took longer than I planned (it seems that is the norm...) to get the decals on and get some pictures taken. But I got it done. I modified the hinge mounting points to make the hood fit correctly, and made new brass bushings for them. I applied the decals a couple weeks ago, and they went on without a problem, and look great! The rest of the paint on the tractor is some color my Brother put on it when he restored it over 20 years ago. One day, I will find the time to make it entirely Regal Red, but this tractor is a worker, and the two tone paint has not kept it from working! Here are the results:

What a great day here at Pioneer Power. Had some participation in the parade and closed out the day with a corn boil courtesy of Lowell and Joette@wheelhorseman and some deliciously cooked chicken from Mike and Tom @prondzy @Shynon Hello... 5 dozen ears..... by Lowell's count just about right for nine people! We ended up inviting over the neighbors too. followed up by fire in Joe's custom portable firepit. Lowell also took his cooking on the road... smoking a tri-tip cruising in the Farm Handy!

After some fun, and hiding in the weeds, I put him to work re-learning how to plow. A few little issues arose, and after a new fuel line system, a couple carb adjustments and some wiring work and a bath, we’re here to present day I believe.

Thanks Cas. Sounds like we're in a parallel universe. I've been building a Franken Tractor and because of space restrictions, had to go with a glass mat. Picked up a used one cheap that needed a charge. Fortunately, one of my chargers has the AGM setting. Got it charged up and ended going thru 3 regulators on the tractor to find one that gives it a proper charge; 14.4 volts. So far so good.... It seems the higher price might be worth it in the long run as conventional (lead/acid) lawn and garden batteries only last a year or two.

I'm not one for staying with a certain brand of anything. The only exception is Land Rovers. The older ones, not the computer controlled modern ones. Only really owned Wheel Horses. My C-125, C-81 and C-121. All workers. Reliable and easy to work on. They'll do me.There's a Raider 10 basket case as well. Mustn't forget the Sears/Roper GT16 with B&S twin.. Must admit it's a better drive. But only just. To conclude, get want you want before it's to late.
