. Here's what I've doing for the past two weeks. The entire gang was here the first week. Mike Me Mark Reed Libby Owen Julie Jake Grandma Nan Clayton We did some serious eating...ribs and corn. Seafood at Medings and Son restaurant. Crabs and fried perch. Kayaking with my boys. Reed Jake Mike ???? Mark Clayton Owen Corn hole tournament. The gang left and Mrs k and I enjoyed a slower pace the second week. Walking the crowded beaches searching for "sea glass" and watching the wildlife. This is a horseshoe crab that was tagged by the University of Maryland. It is the third one I have found in over 50 years of walking the beaches and righting the helpless overturned crabs.

The wood was rotting on my trailer and the wiring was messed up on my trailer so I redid the deck with treated some 2 by 8, 10, and 12 wood. I used plastic decking I got from a friend who got it at an auction for $1 I used galvanized nuts and bolts and ran conduit to all the lights with flexible cord organizer to the plug. I also soldered all wire connections and used heat shrink tubing on them.

Make sure you clean out the hex recess really good to make sure the Allen seats all the way in, these things can sometimes get really stuck and you want to make sure it doesnt slip!

Went to a classic car show and cruise in Vernon, Tx this weekend, and coupled with the show is a antique engine/ tractor show. This was one of two garden tractors that was there, the other being a CC 104. Has a predator swap and a stack out the hood (which I don't particularly care for) but was a neat tractor nonetheless. The owner wasn't around so I didn't get a chance to talk with him. Anyone know what model it is? I forgot to get a picture of the SBC powered Farmall Cub with zoomies on it, which was pretty cool. Here also is a picture of my buddy's 78 Little red express, my new-to-me 81 Porsche 928, my dad's 57 Chevy and my step-mothers 68 Camaro that we took. It was pretty hot, but an extremely fun event nonetheless.

Final inspection day! He’ll be here in an hour and hasn’t yet seen it in person! We did a design change on the legs, to keep it as close to the ground as possible. I’ll cut some 1/8” plate to place under the set screws, to push against the carpet floor.

For record keeping here, I attempt to do some plowing with Hot Wheels yesterday! I think the ground was too hard to get a great furrow, but it was decent at least! The share? (back tail piece) was sticking way up, which tells me it could have dug deeper, but it just wouldn’t dig much. I settled with the fact that I wasn’t getting any deeper and started to adjust the plow so the share was closer to the ground. Once Hot Wheels started acting up a bit, I decided another day would be alright... but improvements were made along the way!

Been marshalling on the Spadeadam Motor Clubs, Blue Streak Taga Rally today. Held just by the Scottish border. This is run at various locations on private land. Each section has a course set out with cones placed along it, that have to be negotiated with out touching/hitting them. The two that I was on were on farm tracks. Competitors set off from the start down the track to the end, then back to the start. The first set of photo's are of the first section we were on. As you can see it was a tad damp. Turn round at the end. This caused problems for some drivers, if they didn't get their hand brake turn right. Four had to have a helping hand or two. Next the afternoon section. It was more than a tad damp. In fact it never stopped raining. Fortunately my mate Bob and I could carry out our duties, from the comforts of our respective Land Rover Discoveries.

Never drove in car rallies myself. I used to drive Land Rovers in 4x4 off road competitions. Those type of rallies are also run over here by some cubs. On public roads. Speed events are run on private or closed roads.

    B80

My neighbor has been telling me for a couple months that he found me another Wheel Horse-no details but he thought it had a starter-generator. He said the guy would trade me for a couple parts tractors I had in the field so I told him to go ahead and make the deal. I went down this weekend and the tractor was at his house. It turned out to be what I believe is a later 70's B80. It has the newer style seat mount and it's an 8-speed (I thought B80's were 4 speed?) Tractor is solid and all there but has a terrible paint job on it. Currently not running, but I pulled bowl off carb and it's full of residue from old ethanol so hopefully won't take a lot to get running. (it will fire if you spray fuel in carb) It has a much newer 36" rear discharge deck that looks like it has seen very little use. Even though this tractor isn't exactly what I expected I still got a good deal even though I'm probably going to get it running and let my neighbor use it as a backup mower. Did the B80 ever come with 6" front wheels??

The difference between the 5003 and 5010 is the tab that the brake band bolts to. It's vertical on the 5003 and at about a 45° angle on the 5010. Also the 5003's and the early 5010's had ball bearings on the brake shaft and later 5010's had needle bearings.

Keep giving out pointers guys.... I’m gettin’ schooled. Not that I have anything to plow at the moment but hopefully soon I’ll have some dirt to play in.
  20. 3 points
A good way to set your plow.. On a hard level surface, park your tractor with a bout a 5 to 6" block under the left rear wheel. Lower your plow down and adjust it until the land slide sits flat on the ground. This adjustment will get you pretty close, from there you can make minor adjustments as needed.

My next-door neighbor called me today and said come check out these trees that fell with last weeks storm we had in the afternoon. His property comes down the mountain here beside l 65 Just a few short miles from Nashville. There's a creek that follows at the bottom of it that winds and curves down below the interstate . There was some kind of burst that came down through this valley and mowed down several big !!! No giant Normas trees. There is a Sycamore that is at least 3 feet in diameter with a 30 to 40 strait trunk. Also at least a half a dozen or more trees all laying in the same direction . Strange !!! There is also a beach tree with a lot of spalted wood embedded in it ! LOTS of bowl material!! Win ...Win!! The root system itself was at least 20 feet across

Lets see, 700 pounds +/- of steel. Probably that much wood weight added to that! How are you planning to move it into the meeting room it will be used in? Levitation?

Guys I believe he might talking about the engine oil drain. My 701 had a hex plug in the block. I think it was still 1/4"

Buy em books send em to school and all they wanna do is rip out the pages and eat the ..... I'll let Dan finish! Weights will only screw up things worst and dig too deep and you WILL run out of traction. You shouldn't need any with the right setup. In fact the heavy hitters run what's called a land wheel to keep it from digging. In fact lighter is better when your lift lever goes by the name of Manuel. Tom @Shynon or Mike @prondzy run adjustable land wheels for their type of soil over in MN. Generally not needed in my sandy soil but get over by Josh's place and they might come in handy in clay. Got a picture for the fellas?

I have five or six metal rulers varying in size from this one to a 48 My maternal grandparents spent the Great depression in their formidable teen years and obviously that had a lasting effect on them. They didn't spend very many pennies without double-checking to make sure they weren't going to squeeze more out of them. They will never poor and they never went without but they also never spent too much. When they bought things for the house or tools they bought the best or they didn't buy. Some of my grandfather's tools are twice my age and then some and I still use them occasionally.

Ya you need to come to plow daze and get educated! Looks like your angles were not quite set up with the rear end, properly called the land slide, up like that. With well rooted grass/weeds like that it might have been best to use a coulter but a application of round up a couple of weeks ahead might have been preferably. Was the share nice and shiny? Looks like the furrows weren't rolling as should but real tough to do in that kind of soil with out a good setup. Looks like ya got seat time anyway!

I think it’s a 1/4” Allen key. No dumb questions here! It’s most likely packed with dirt and crud, so tap some smaller stuff around in there and even blow it out if you can. I prefer an Allen socket so I can tap it in and bottom it out. I even have an impact driver to help shock the threads and turn it loose at the same time... sometimes it’s the only way

adsm08 : Can you post a picture or two of what you have for a piston/cylinder in your Hein-Werner pump? Which spring and piston do you have? The early pumps had what I call the rabbit ear springs. These two pistons (icall the inner cylinder a piston) both use the rabbit ear spring. One with the threaded handle and one with the flat handle (for Up and Down motion) with two machine screws. The last two pics of the outside housing are from a very early 953 pump that was one inch wider in the fluid housing than the later Hein-Werner pumps.

We spent some time slicing up firewood this morning and began work on another woods path so as to access the last portion of the property that hasn't had a tractor on it yet. Trina used her go-to work tractor 867 to haul the tools to the forest. Also, she has been painting the house this year as she gets time and the weather is ok. There are clapboards to be added and trim to be replaced. Today she used the 867 as a workbench.

Another way if you have a lift, put the tractor on that with the plough/plow attached. Get a nice straight plank, lie it on the lift under the tractor and along side the plough/plow. Lower the plough/plow and measure from bottom of plank to bottom of land slide. 5" - 6". Make sure the land slide is horizontal to the plank.

What makes you think it's anything other than a 633? Just because the engine changed? The 633 came with the goofy updraft carb, which over time became a leaky mess. The original owner/dealer may have just opted to upgrade to a new 8HP engine rather than mess with the old 6HP. I'd say you have a 633.
