Met some really good friends at the big show this year! We met up with our friends from Canada!! @WheelhorseWes and his wonderful family! Hubby wanted a 1961 551 and scored one! My birthday present to him.. It was a two tractor deal..so we made it a chance to see our new friends as Wes was interested in the 854. So we both have new horses for our stables!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 We went out to eat and visited!! It was a great time!!

Hi Guys, Like a couple of other newbies, I really had a great time meeting so many like-minded folks at the show this past weekend, very passionate about Wheel Horse tractors and their history. I only wish I had more time to spend at the show to study tractors and jaw-jack! I've been collecting and showing tractors most of my life, but this was the very first time that I've shown Wheel Horses - and must say that I kinda liked it! I definitely caught the WH bug this past year... Hearing that the "Horse Barn" at the fair grounds will be dedicated for Wheel Horses going forward, I'm excited to see this show turn into an annual, Wisconsin WH gathering! Thanks, Rob

The weather forecast for today is hitting the highest since 2013 and oppressive humidity rivaling the central Florida weather. I would have been fine if they postponed it but we were on the schedule. Fortunately the clouds have kept the temps down a bit but the threat of rain has them keeping their guard up.

I know the paint job is a desecration. By chance I was able to acquire this. Any thoughts? Year, rarity, value? Original tires....?

Well, I wasn't planning on this purchase, but the listing was relatively close, and I thought it would be a quick fun project. I was also thinking it might be a good machine to leave up on some property to cut grass with once or twice a month. It came with an extra set of ag tires, wheel weights, a brinly cultivator, brinly moldboard plow, and snow plow. The 42" SD deck had new spindles put on it that are the newer style, so I'm pretty excited about that. I was excited to get it home and see what was under all that dirt! So I got the pressure washer out, and washed the dirt off. I accidentally blew the C120 stickers off with the pressure washer, but I contacted @Vinylguy and he is going to hook me up. It looks like a nice machine! It was repainted once before, but they didn't do a bad job. The new china carb should be here on Friday, so once it arrives, i'll start messing with it. I can't wait to hear it run! I included pictures of it sitting at the previous owners house, loaded up on the trailer, and after it was pressure washed.

I had my 753 at Portage last weekend. It was my 1st time at the show and it was great to meet all the fellow wheelhorse people.

Moved a couple horses to the off site storage. Then picked these two up on the way home. Bob Maynard is right, this downsizing isn't working.

Here is a video of a 2” cut. I realize I should probably have more PPE and also noticed that I seem to chew when I’m thinking! There’s not much in that noggin, especially in my mouth! Also, I’m testing my depth to make my bend points. I cannot believe how clean this cuts, I could probably get into the key cutting business with it!

Congrats James. Really nice 120 auto. and well equipped. My 120 auto was my first WH and after buying and selling 50+ tractors, I still have the 120. Mine has the Tecky HH120, but it has been trouble free and always starts and runs strong.

Looks like a '61 model 701 to me. Well worth saving.

Picked up a 50” sickle bar yesterday. Seems like its all there. Gonna try and put it on a tractor this weekend. Is it meant for a long frame or short frame tractors or both? Also not exactly sure how it goes on so any help will be greatly appreciated. Here are a few pictures, I will get better ones this weekend.

A friend told me about a guy that had some round hoods for sale. Among them is this what I was told us a RJ 35. I'm kinda interested in it but I have no idea what to offer. It is going to need a lot of work to get it up and running I think. Looks to be all there he has no idea on a price as well what should i offer for a fair price if i decide to do so. Any thoughts thanks

Made it! To prevent so much shrinkage when I fill the gap, I’ll find some threaded rod or the like to wedge into the open space. It’ll save a ton of welding too.

Not sure it needs a restoration. If it was mine I would install the missing decals, paint the rims, get the new tire(s) and go thru it mechanically and use it.

Yes straight up carbide likes flood coolant but tin coated solid carbide(read "Exocarb") usually just air blowing out the chips will suffice (maybe an air line regulated down to 15-30 psi some hillbilly fashioned attached so to blow the chips out of the way and cool the blade at same time while cutting )... and again speed and feed and depth of cut all make a difference JMO.

If you drop that off here Robbie, I could try it on a short or a long frame.

Might not help anybody in hurry, but on Kohler carb where steel throttle shaft eggs out pot metal/aluminum body to the extent the butterfly wears notch in throat & governor gets stuck; drill the carb body out to size the hole will be round (5/16) and epoxy in a brass nut that has 1/4" or right size hole for throttle shaft and you're good another 25 yr. This is how we dealt with it before internet and foreign carbs.

Testing the ability to cold form the bends. So far I’m at 49 degrees on a 2” piece. The biggest bend is close to 85 degrees, so I’ve got a little further to go!

I put one on the K-321 in the low rider. It has worked fine with the only issue being the reversed choke linkage. It wasn't a problem for me as I installed custom throttle and choke linkage.

I had good luck with the rip off carb on Putt Putt, but I was in a time crunch June of last year and didn’t want to mess with the throttle shaft play. If I had that much hassle from one or two, I’d be in the same boat. Plus, nobody knows how long the cheap ones actually last... I’m sure the materials they use are a much poorer quality.

Trans turned out to be a 5060 so it looks like somebody did a conversion long time ago. I'm going to keep it the same as I got it.

I’ve used a couple of those “clone” carbs and both worked perfectly.

That is a very nice complete '55 or '56 RJ. Engine isn't right and the fuel tank appears to be missing, but all things considered it is nice. If that RJ-35 showed up on it would probably have a budding war and go for at least $ 500! The belt guard and steering wheel are each worth over $ 100. The 1960 Suburban choke/throttle handles could be removed and sold for $ 50 to $ 100.

I know what I would offer it would be less than $100.00 like even $50.00. It looks like a good project taking much dollars to bring it to life.

with that much history and experience behind you that tractor should be easy to get up and running. Glad you found the site. of course you understand that the rest of us five-year-olds are going to need pictures of your herd of horses.

Pump sizing will be dependent on the cylinder size and the time you want it to lift the 3 point. so give us the following information on the cylinder you plant to use Cylinder Stroke (length of rod travel cylinder internal OD (estimated since you dont have it apart) cylinder rod diameter. Desired speed of lift. You make be able to uses a 12v electric packaged hydraulic system and safe a lot of belt and bracket and hose work.

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time rebuilding a Teccy carb. New ones are as cheap as a rebuild kit and they work well.

I'm slowly gathering parts to restore my 953 tractor, serial # 34637 From the Wiki 953nut did I believe this is a 2nd generation 953. It doesn;t have the 'diamond center steering wheel, but has the ross steering box and this wheel. its missing the headlight brackets, buckets lenses and ?. I borrowed this picture from ebay. Are these the right buckets for a second generation 953? Glenn Petti sells these 953 3" lenses and 1054 3.5" lenses pictured below. but the 1054 lenses were used on the last 6 months of 953 production. if the above buckets are correct, which lenses do they use? The 953 Lens (aka HL-22 Lens option) was standard for the first 6 months of '63, this 3" diameter lens snap-fits into a gold colored plastic bezel . $20/pair. 953 Rubber Bezel Gaskets, $5/pair. (3) The 1054 Lens was use on Wheel Horses; for the last six months of the 953's, all the 1054's, and also available as an option for a few years, 3.5" diameter and cupped, fits into a double metal bezel , and is held in place by an o-ring. $25/pr, includes the two o-rings. I also orrowed this picture of a light bracket from Ebay. Is this the correct bracket for my 953. It looks somewhat simple to make. Does anyone have a bracket they could get measurements from and make a sketch of this? Yes I could buy it on Ebay, but there's just something about making parts I like! It will be a while before I get to this project, But I have a box I'm beginning to accumulate parts in, so there's hope! Thanks, Jim in Texas!

One other thing I wanted to mention is that the bore size was substantially smaller even though it was clearly marketed for a 16 horse.

I wish I could say the same. I bought one for the Cinnamon Horse and it showed up with metal filings and black flakes in the bowl. Cleaned it. Installed it. Same thing happened over again. Keep in mind that the fuel system on this tractor is all new. When I took it apart the third time I decided that was going to be the last one and I ordered another older Kohler carb and rebuilt that instead.

I'm curious to know why you feel that it needs a new carburetor instead of cleaning the old one.

Exactly. I think the hi-low 8 pinion transmissions were the strongest. That is if I have studied my Stevasaurus manual correctly.👍

So as long as mine isn’t locked up or full of saw dust I have the strongest transmission I could put under it that should last a long time with proper maintenance

This saw is amazing! Here are pictures immediately after the cut. There are virtually zero burrs, just a clean sharp edge! I rigged a low pressure air line to clear the fence of chips to keep the cut smooth.
