Congratulations @Aldon on having made the newest issue of the magazine with the GT22-8. Well deserved. That thing is a beast and will only get better as you go along. See full article posted by Kate at post #37

Being a dyed-in-the-wool plow dog, I have played with weights A LOT. The Cub weights are very versatile as mentioned about. They can be used in lots of combinations. They stack very easily on the big 54# WH cast weights like I have on GhostRider... as mentioned above by Dan, they work great inside the wheel and still give the clearance needed. My favorite looking weight is the one commonly found on CASE GT’s... You paint them to match your tractor, use some stainless or chrome mounting hardware and they really look sharp and add about 40# per plate. However, at the end of the day, any weight that you can add when needed is worth it! Well done Sparky on setting up your sons tractor for summer and winter use. That is my desire for each of my children if/when they get their own place. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Gents. I'm busier than the proverbial one legged man..... I can't wait to get my copy. Waiting by the mail box like a kid the past few days. BTW, The Extra Shifters "Note 6" are actually turning brakes:-)

Spending a peaceful morning getting tractors ready! Woo hoo! The Commando needed a battery, Frank’s stack needs more welding, Putt Putt’s dang recoil won’t grab, Hot Wheels lost the Pepsi can stack that @953 nut told me had probably 10,000 miles on it and they’re all filthy!

Yesterday I had the C161 out for the first time with the tiller breaking up the ground for the foundation for a pavilion which is part of the new playground for the kids from the foster care/adoption agency I help out with. I used the 876 with the dozer blade to spread the dirt.

I always found original seat backrest too reclined , making me to lean forward all the time. Used a couple of heavy duty furniture levelers (plenty of that around here) on the existing holes and it now puts backrest in the perfect position for my back. The slight height gain also makes it more comfortable.

Matt has been writing for us for quite some time and does an excellent job. We are very fortunate to have him on our team! Wheel Horse is in every issue of L&GT. We need to come out to the big show in PA to do some publicity. Thanks everyone for your support of the magazine. Have a nice evening!

Sometimes the key to metal work is having the right die for bending sheet metal. In this case, the soft grass and dirt are a good start with a big mallet. Then more detail is tapped in with a car ramp and a smaller mallet. I’ve got a bit more forming and maybe some trimming to do yet. I can most likely tweak it by hand from here.

Cub weights on the inside and Massey Ferguson split weights (hidden behind the wheel covers) outside plus 5-6 gallons of methanol in each tire on my 520H...

So I wasn’t happy with the 36” RD I put on this gift tractor. Wanted a bigger deck and one a bit quieter that the 36. Scored a nice 42”SD , replaced both belts, all three blades, installed the NOS mule drive I snagged at this years WH Show, swapped the front spindles to the correct ones for 8” rims, put on a rear axle bracket in preparation for this winter, installed the inside wheel weights and gave her a bath. Just in time as the closing on their new house is the 24th of this month. This one is ready to be shipped out !!

A cool rainy morning had me looking around the barn for an indoor project this morning. There was this really nice 48" SD with the old style mounting hardware. The deck has a good shell and the steel greasable spindles with the offset zerks that you can actually grease without taking the deck off the tractor. These decks also have the heavy spindle reinforcement plate that keeps the blade tips in perfect alignment. The bearings are all tight and quiet...probably because the were well greased by the PO. So, I removed the old mount and added a new style mount. This was really a easy conversion. After centering and locating the correct front to rear position so the standard length belt would work, It just required drilling 8 new holes for the 4 mounting brackets. I did have to alter the rear brackets to fit the slope of the deck. Then make a lever for the front to rear leveling rod. Put it on the C-120 and it cuts really nice and is my quietest deck. I may add the two anti scalp rollers to the front corners. After this was finished, there was this pile of 2 blade gear drive decks with the bad ball and socket in the left rods. This design was one of two bad designs by WH. The other was the rocker plate engine mount. I have never found a gear drive deck that didn't have a problem with the left rod. It's clear the design engineer didn't realize the left rod was in tension and a ball and socket would not work. The right rod is in compression and works fine although this is a very expensive machining process where a clearance hole and a threaded rod would have done a better job. Here are some of the fixes by POs. All defeat the purpose of adjustable rods. The strap Just weld it The hose clamps This one that I repaired by cutting off the ball, drilling and tapping the rod, and drilling a clearance hole in the pulley shaft actually was held together by a turnbuckle and hose clamps. Now, three more to repair....next rainy day project.

This is a 300 series I’m setting up for my son for when he and his fiancé become homeowners next month. Came across a great deal on 4 International Cub weights so 2 of them are going on his tractor. Adds 25# per side, it’ll also get a pair of 50 pounders on the outside of the rim before winter.

Frank’s stack didn’t enjoy the trip to PA. After a trip to @roadapples‘ house to weld it up, it was pretty crooked. The tin from the stock muffler just can’t support the weight of the stack swaying in the wind when it’s nearly 10’ off the ground. So here is my fix.... so far. A little grinding, a little forming, then it’ll be tack and inspect time.

If you can't adjust the gears by adding or removing shims, I'd find a good used steering shaft from another C-series. There are usually plenty on eBay.

I agree wit Jim on the vent being the likely problem. As fuel is used the level goes down and without a good vent in the cap there will be enough of a vacuum developed that the fuel pump can't overcome it. Might try this, next time you mow, stop and remove the cap for a moment when you are about half done, see if it helps.

On Frank, the seat dips forward instead of backward upon receiving weight. A few times at the show, my leg found it’s way between partially under the right front of the seat and above the trans tunnel. A quick YOUCH! and back to business. Two or three more in a row, I found that it’s easiest to not rush the mounting of Frank!

The IH Cub weights work out very well. I have cast weights on the out side of the rims on my plow tractor and a double stack of the Cub weights on the inside of the land wheel.
