Meet my new, #40 tractor in my collection...my first off branded tractor...an early production College Park (COPAR) Panzer. Not their first year of production, a '54 Model A, but pretty gosh darn close to it. I've read that less than 300 first year, documented model A's were ever produced, and only a handful of legitimate survivors out there being known to still exist. To my mind, it reads that the model A's were the early prototypes that led to the T-100's going into full production in '55...the T being Tricycle front steering. I won't bore you with all the crazy Panzer nerding I've already started to do here...I'll just say that it's a really cool old tractor, powered by a 9HP Briggs that really gets down the road you start moving the belt around on the flywheel. Has rear wheel turning brakes (which make it pivot on a dime) on a narrowed Chrysler 8-3/4" rear end. Really had a blast on the first day with it here yesterday. Was a true barn find, that seems to have been very well loved by it's PO who recently passed. May he RIP. had a little extra time this morning, pulled out the porter cable and took it for a drive around the property. such a neat little round hood tractor, easy to drive the steering on these is very light you can steer it with 1 finger. this machine I redid a few years ago.

Hey everyone, I have been teaching my sons about mowing etc... They each ran about 30 circles of our property We Love our tractor. I enjoy the teaching aspect of this. (And no I'm not a teacher)

Picked up this unit from a fellow on Craislist some time ago, listed as a good running machine.. though I was mainly interested in the 'solid' 48" deck .. which had a hefty amount of Bondo. And the tractor.. which rapped like a monkey shaking a glass jar of loose bolts. But I feel the price was fairly reasonable, came with all the paperwork, so I grabbed her regardless. His only reason for selling was "The clutch for the deck slips and the dealer doesn't know why." In fact the motor vibrated so bad it loosened every bolt and screw on the whole tractor. Even the deck hanger is severely worn. (Which is odd, because the machine, though repainted, is straight as an arrow and looks great). Assuming the original owner took good care of it, the son .. it was just a lawn mower. Anyway. Didn't like the sound the engine made but had to get it off the truck, and it went straight to the shed. Made an awful clang some months ago I assumed the rod broke .. but I drove it to the garage this morning and it was certainly running on 2 cylinders. No idea what the long term plan is. I'm pondering a big Honda Twin. I like the B&S opposed, have to see how bad it really is on the inside. Doesn't smoke at all, just makes horrible noises. Alas.. dropped a 414-8 engine in today. Nearly perfect fit, though it's about half an inch too low at the crank. So the belt guard didn't line up perfect. The clutch would rub the guard.. No trouble though, as a 1967 pto just happens to be smaller in diameter, and fit perfectly. When I get the deck properly repaired I may use it some, if just to prove atleast the rear end is good.

So about a year ago jimt1971 started talking with Pilgrim regarding a worker 420LSE. Long story short the neighbor or friend (I can't remember which) purchased the tractor to use. We werr okay with this as we were told that if the person who got it didn't like it, he might get it back. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, Jimt1971 got word that pilgrim got the tractor back and wanted to see if he was still interested in purchasing it. The price was agreed to, and we hoped that Pilgrim could make it to the WHCC show😥 unfortunately he was not able to make it, sooo we agreed to go out to his place to pick it up. We left at 5:30am, and started our 12 hour road trip...got to Pilgrims, and got to spend a small amount of time with him and his wife before having to head back home. I have to say that Pilgrim and his wife are two of the most genuine people I have had the pleasure of meeting. They were amazingly sweet, and a pleasure to do business with. Today we got to take a better look at the tractor, and we plan on restoring it back to its former glory. The one thing thatvwill remain is the decal from the mower shop that it came from to preserve its history!! Without further adeau, here are the pics

@Mows4three @bellevillerod I'm finally getting around to putting the tie rods together for the cinnamon horse. The holes on the steering knuckles are wallowed out a bit like they are on many of our horses. I decided to go to the next size up tie rod which is 7/16. I also decided to change over to heim joints which should tighten things up. For comparison of size the stock tie rod in the picture has a .625 diameter and the new one will have an .875 diameter. Overkill? Maybe. Go big or go home.

Put the front nose back on the 953 after a fuel pump gasket change and a general clean up. Got the new belt guard on from AZ Tractor Test fitted the "Big Oly" rear tires

Well everyone I completed my daughters Wheelhorse today. She calls it her pink pony which I think it suits this little 702 My son on my lap we drove it around the block and back. He loves to steer so he’s hooked. We have our closest steam and tractor show coming up on the July 12/13/14 weekend so my daughter will be getting plenty of seat time. The only problem I have encountered on this one so far was I need one size smaller belt(slipping) and that the brand new ignition switch I bought at the big show is backwards....on is off and off is on. I wired it exactly as the wiring diagram shows in my 702 owners manual. But oh well it starts and shuts off and drives so it’s a win....hope everyone likes the pictures. There will be a custom pink and purple 702 decals go on it once the gentleman from redo your horse and I come together on the colours....enjoyed every second restoring it cant seem to upload pictures!!!

Put the 1958 Wheel Horse RJ through a work out today in 88 degree heat cutivating the garden. This is a late planted, water soaked garden that may not produce much but we are going to give it a try! Planted some other lettuce, zucchini and squash.

Pilgrim knew where the rims were, but the chrome was gone from them. We did get the deck, but it does not have the chrome deck wheels on it either, it was a worker, and that is how it came. We will look to see about either getting wheels chromed, or possibly just do aluminum rims instead...we will see

Dump the old, fill the fresh. With a house containing 3 ladies, I need to have indoor plumbing for the most part...

Well, for tractor parts anyway. It’s time to put Rylee’s hood and Hot Wheels’ hub caps in an appropriate spot, not the camper. We are taking a trip across town to “prepare” our tanks for a few days’ use while I cut off the house water.

I got a 7 1312 7 on my 1257 which is long frame with no mods needed. I got it running on the pto pulley and only used it twice running low idle.

Out of curiosity, is my RJ here considered a 1959 made RJ58 or an RJ59? I ask because the tag says RJ58 but the transmission casting date is 1959.

Wes, gas it up again!! 😂🤣 No kidding guys this is a great looking tractor Wes did. He did it for all the right reasons!!! The joy of his daughter!!

Picked this 417A up the other day. Everything works but the magnets in the flywheel are shot so she don’t charge. May be in the need for one of them if anyone has one laying around.

Just an observation...it seems like the tractors of that era with the 8 horse have the slightly wider tires and the 6 horse machines like my 656 came with the narrower fronts.

I only brought enough to fuel the crazy horse this year. Next year I'll bring enough to light up the fish.

Sounds like tha same guy must've been working on this little Techy powered RJ I picked up from Ed Kennell at the show. Was going to try to get it running as is until I discovered this carb nightmare semi attached to that motor. I Decided to just swap rhe whole thing out instead using a K-90 I had just sitting in stock.

I think cyclops is a fitting name don’t you?😂 I just picked up this little 857 pretty close to the house. The deck needs work, but it runs great with no knocks or smoke. The po mounted the light through the slots in the grill, so no harm no foul. I do need to replace one rear tire. It has a new Carlisle on one side. I’ve got a set of period correct turfs it will likely get. I had missed my 857 that I sold last year and this one will stay with me!! Front wheels don’t seems right - too narrow. But they do have a wheel horse script on them. Any ideas what they are off of?

Hey everyone, haven’t posted anything in a while but I got another Wheel Horse I’m working on, picked up an 800 special a few months ago for only $50! I’ve gone through the tractor some, it’s runs and drives now, my plan is to clean it up and use it to mow, maybe even a few mods. I can’t tell if the electric clutch is working, I haven’t gone through the wiring yet but was wondering if anyone has ever replaced the clutch and what clutch they replaced it with, I hope I don’t have to but just in case. here’s some pictures Thanks.

Finally had some time to finish the swap. I think it came out pretty good. Ended up making an adapter plate for the steering so I didnt have to swap it out and could use the stock 520 tie rods. I also painted the wheels and installed 4 new tires. This thing is just about ready for the 60" deck I have. Just gotta install a new plastic slider for the motion control lever as I stole the one off this a week ago for my C-160 as it broke while in the middle of mowing.

The cicadas are out and I’ve just noticed the last two days outside my shop door these shells. What time of year do they come out in your area?

They hang over the lip on the back of the center steel brace. Also I have three different tines on my cultivator one large Danish tine in middle, two smaller Danish tines on side and regular Wheel Horse shovel tines on other spots. Nine tines in all and it does the job.

Well worth the $65.00 Home Depot rental. Did eight 8” holes in less time than I was able to dig one 6” hole.

It it is a cast iron pulley, a puller will likely break it....cast iron does NOT flex...it only breaks. (1)Drive a couple WOOD wedges under the edge...between deck and pulley. (2)thread bolt in to within a couple turns of 'seated'. (3) whack the hex head of the bolt, protecting the internal threads. that should make eonough 'shock' to realeas the pulley. I suggest the same approach even with a stamped steel pulley...avoid bending it .

Yep, and to add to that, check that the intake is sealed between the two halves. The intake may have a cut in it from a heat shield, so check for that and cut some clearance in the shield. Since the exhaust will be in the way, this would be a good time to pull it then glass bead and spray with Rust-o-ileum high temperature paint. When you reassemble, use only genuine Onan intake & head gaskets, cheap import parts will cause problems. I am starting to think that you have a valve seat so loose that the problem comes and goes, pulling the heads for de-carbon is a normal part of maintenance and will allow an inspection of the seats. That breather hose is rotten, replace it to keep dirt out.

Hillman #58087, 1/4" i.d. x 7/16" o.d. x 1/16" thick bronze thrust bushing, you'll probably have to stack two together on each carb to give you the 1/8" thickness you need.

These attachments were the mainstay of the Southern pulpwood industry until they were banned.Jim Winder is right to be leery of them as they do have a fearsome reputation.I put this one together for my wife,Beverly.

Removed the silly putty from the new 953's fuel pump mounting location to stop oil peeing out. Those front noses in those things are HEAVY!!!

My wife just loves to plant flowers...all over the yard. Thought I would take some close-up pictures of all the color. These Lilies are just exploding this year.

I found something cool to do on a hot 90° plus day . Had to pressure wash the pieces before I brought them in the house. Sure felt good to get wet !!

Picked up my 312 after lunch with the new 37SD deck mounted and properly leveled. What a difference the new deck and clean carb makes.👍 the picture taken after dark does not do it justice. Cuts beautifully. I loaded up the 857 and hauled it to storage. Thinking I'll keep the 312 for lake front duty and sell the 857. But I love the little square hood too. Hard to part with it.

Installed the 60" deck yesterday. Really impressed with how well it cuts. Even for having dull, rusty blades because I wanted to use it so bad I didn't sharpen them yet. I did grease it though. A few small growing pains so far. The 1/2 x 103" belt from PTO-Deck is too big. I had to drop down to a 1/2 x 101" and that seems to work OK. I can still get that to slip a little in the heavy grass. I think I may jump up to a 5/8" x 100" or 101". That should do the trick and the pulleys are big enough to support it. The 22hp predator really handles it well. I was surprised actually at how well it runs for a cheap Chinese engine. It definitely runs much better now that the oil is not full of gas from the vacuum fuel pump going bad. Now if only someone has a motion control pin for me. Mine is broke so I have to babysit the hydro lever as it drifts all around. I have a wanted thread BTW..... Wheel Horse C-161 Twin with Front End Swap & 60" Deck - Video is kinda crappy as I really needed 3 hands since I constantly have to adjust speed. I'll get better video later but you get the idea.
