Had a busy day recently , 99% NOS, spent all day with my dad cleaning out an old dealership, got the last of the good stuff!

Starting to put some color on my grandsons’ Ranger.

Went to the show Friday, 6/7. Theme was J.Deere patio tractors, but there were just as many Wheel Horses. Had some flea market junk, lots of hit&miss engines, farm tractors, and garden tractors. Met a few WH collectors and some interesting tractors. I took the opportunity to go to the show because my son and his family recently moved to southern Indiana, but I don't think it was good enough show to go that far for again. Maybe it was just hampered by the rain forecast for Saturday.

Pulled out some fence posts with my 400.

Cleaned up my”new” 42 inch mower deck and 1999 Wheel Horse 312-8 today!

Then, when ever you're ready to resume... just hit your parts with a Scotch-Brite pad, and you're ready to pick up where you left off.

Well I was just waiting here in the wings to chime in to see what the others had to say about your dilemma so here's my solutions. 1) Quit hanging out with guys that find free 520's with batteries put in backwards and does triple scores for 100 dollar runners that don't he need one cause he already has that model. 2) No more auctions for a cheap but cool piece that ain't really even a tractor or even a horse but gets passed off on the Missus as a mower. 3) Visit the guy that bought the nice ranch from under you down the road with lots of room and out.buildings with a bottle of whiskey and a .44 mag and ask him if he wants to reconsider his purchase. (Might be a last resort here). 4) Get a bro down the road who is a half a$$ed sliver wizard and get him to help build said addition/new barn. 5) Give all yer tractors away to bros (including the 'shutts) call it a day and take up needlepoint with a SIL who can teach you the finer stuff. Maybe have to dig out the metal slivers out of your eyes case you have to have an MRI for bad shoulders from grinding on and bench lifting K series but still safer than explaining a new to me to the Missus.. Just sayin ......my

All of it! Bringing all of this plus a whole truckload to the Big Show; dad just closed his dealership and wants to eliminate his inventory, gonna keep basic service parts(wear items) that fit our own tractors but everything else can go. He wanted to finish cleaning out this other dealer that's been closed for 10 years. It's just been fun hanging out in the shop again with my dad like we did 30-40 yrs ago.

Thanks for the suggestions @WHX24, but I gotta say that you are kind of what they call an enabler. That's OK though so far you have not contributed to anything that a little construction won't cure. I'm not ready to fess up to that yet. May be I need a double secret shed like yours Tom.

Seems you're definitely in over your head Dan! Quit that whining...give up this tractor collecting nonsense. Find yourself another hobby that has a real 12 step program.

pecking away Front axle and steering and appears like this is going to work. Wish the tolerances were a little tighter but it's not too bad. Those little locking collars for the spindles are as fun as doing the tires This little pine K90 was done over the last couple of days.

What a fantastic day at the auction. Lot of fun hanging out with @Shynon @prondzy and @wheelhorseman. I will say, sad though that a fellow collector had to pass away and his beloved machines went back to auction. My fun score of the day comes from while Mike and I were cooling down and chatting in the shade of the machine shed looking over the items yet to sell... staring at a large wooden parts sorter with just two little trays of grease laying in two of the bins. Mike reaches in a leans one up and we just look at each other in disbelief. When the auctioneer came around to sell the "pigeon hole sorter", you should have seen the look he gave me when I asked him to separate the two trays from the parts bin. Regardless... he happily took my bid and sold me the two trays. The lesson here kids is when you see those random farmer parts bins in the machine sheds at a sale.... pay attention to what might have become an object of convenience! I totally have to thank @prondzy for letting me buy them.... let's just say the auctioneer was happy to have a bid and I was happy with the price!

9 out 10 times it's a dirty carb or extra air leaking in. If you can calm down the surging down by slowly closing the choke, the problem is air to fuel mixture in or around the carb. The common possibilities are a dirty carb or extra air leaking around the throttle shaft and or gasket or all of them. The choke closing is limiting the intake of of air and therefore matching the amount of air to the fuel.

The challenge being... keeping them all in your head.

Few scores from a local auction today. 520 has a new 24hp honda, Also a 20.5hp Onan v twin never fired. Never seen a Onan v twin. Wonder what the application was.

This is the ignition switch your tractor left the factory with. Not too easy to come by these days. You may want to consider doing a bit of a rewiring job to add a 103-991 ignition switch and a solenoid for the starter.

I have 3 of these nylint trucks only 1 has box open to reasonable offer on 1 or all. Just joined group because I purchase a 656 yesterday and found out I live within 1/2 hour of where show is held in a few weeks, and eager to learn more about my new tractor. I could use help on electric starter issue if anyone is familiar with them.

Grab yourself a can of pj1 foam filter oil (motorcycle product) and keep a light coat on them. You will be amazed what it will trap. Your main filter won’t work that hard.

I use them. Collects the larger particles and it's real easy to clean keeping the paper filter cleaner. What are the negatives you heard?

My wife's car's check engine light came on and the code indicated it might be a dirty injector. Put in a can of Sea Foam and the check engine light went away and the car ran perfectly. Now that you have it running add the Sea Foam.

It will have a display case but my fear is there is always some genius around who doesn't care and thinks the "Do Not Touch" sign doesn't apply to them or they don't watch or control their children. A child will most likely see this as just another toy Maybe I'll just put it on the roof of a building and bring binoculars for viewing.

Dunno Jim. No drain plug on the bottom and there's already holes in the top for filling. I couldn't get the level plug out on mine either but then again, I didn't try too hard. The only reason I tried at all was so I could put a stainless plug in it. Case bolt to drain and 1 1/2 quarts of go juice and be done with it.

Correct thinkin now that I have a cocktail in my hand ...I drill the bottoms and install a 1/4 NPT magnetic plug..... On trannies I have to open.. @stevasaurus would approve of removing a case bolt to drain. I could swore one of mine had a drain plug on the bottom??? Or am I thinkin a fill plug on the top?? Hang on whilst I refresh my glass!

I did have it semi organized while I was building Radpferd over the winter. Every thing except for the 753 & the Swisher was in there & I had room to work. I guess it's time for a cleansing again. I figure a 10x 20 cold storage edition would fit 12 tractors. This would clean the garage out of tractors, get 3 more that are outside under a roof, and have room for one more tractor.

If Cindy would let me keep a horse or three in the house I could just look over from my stall and see what's on it for drains. ... ok now we need quit messing up Buffalo Bill's thread or he is gonna be saying it puts the drain plugs in the basket!

To locate the air leak, with the engine running, spray carb cleaner around the areas John mentioned above. If it sucks the cleaner in, the engine will speed up.

Nice 656! It has a Suburban Snowplow on front as the previous owner wanted to be able to mow and plow snow without changing anything !

Let me refresh your glass Jim. If your were drinking Rock & Rye, you would know that there are no drain plugs (except for the bottom bolts) on the 5003 and 5010 transmissions. Also, no fill plugs on the top...use bolt holes for seat or the shifter hole. Suggesting...Rock & Rye with that cheese. @WHX24

I wash mine out with electric motor cleaner.

I've tried that but I discovered that my head isn't wood... It's rocks...

S/G looks nice Tom mine are usually full of the black brush crap that is no fun to flush out.. One of these days when I get less time I intend to do an instructional on rebuilding them. Don't like sand blasting Craig? I would have taken it allpart and blasted. Those pits marks are gonna make for some nice character even after fresh red.

Nice lookin collection you have. If no one saved these machines how would the next generation know anything about them !

Got the hood back together this morning, I wasn't sure how this was gonna turn out when I started but I'm happy with it.
