I moved few horses out to clean my heated winter shop in the basement. Then took my first WH...the C-120 Tecky for a ride and mowed some trails. My Amish neighbor has the entire farm planted and irrigated with fertilized water. The sweet corn and cabbage show the results. The big corporate farmer that leases the adjacent farm spreads dry granular fertilizer on his field corn. Heading home. To find the corn being sprayed. Just another day in the neighborhood! And....a friend had it about 20 minutes from the house! A 414-8! Not sure on the year or hours, but it runs great! Only items I’ve found it needs are an ignition switch and a choke cable. There are about 3 rust holes in the deck I’ll need to fix and I don’t mind doing a little welding. I got home and couldn’t resist giving it a pressure wash even though it was raining.

I told my wife 6 years ago that I would build her a Gazebo.It doesn't have 8 sides and we renamed it the cannery,since we do all our canning in it.

This particular seller said after he posted the ad on FB I was the only one to have the decency to pick up the phone and CALL him instead of the oposable thumbs to try and text him. Lesson here is pull your thumbs out yer keester and actually TALK to the seller in repectful human speak to find out particulars. Just texting someone and " is it for sale yet" crap ain't gonna cut it... just sayin.....

Yup you nailed it Jeff they're actually a 854 and what we suspect to be a 753 ......no matter we had the suspect 753 up, running and driveable within 30 mins.

So I have been after this machine for over two years now. This was owned by one of my customers which is a corporation. It was purchased new from a local dealer by them, used for a few years to mow and plow snow. It was serviced and then tucked away in a storage shed where it sat for at least 5 years until I finally got a call yesterday for me to come get it in barter. I helped them with a small project and I got the machine! Came with deck, bagger set up, wheel covers, chains, wheel weights and a plow. Machine has only 217 original hours on it. We loaded it on the trailer using forklift and I cleaned her up, drained old fuel, added battery and new fuel and she fired right up👍 What I need for it is the rear bagger bracket and the actual bag that catches the clippings. If you should have those please let me know. This one will be used for fall clean up duties.

My Names Brent. Im from Wayne NJ. I got into Wheel horse because I inherited a 1960 Wheel Horse 400 from my Grandfather after he passed away, and its cheaper to mess with than a car. Currently powered with a Predator 79cc, soon to get a Honda GX160. Im also getting a second one to modify and this one is going to be returned to normal use with a mower deck and a plow for winter. Cant wait to share my story with you guys!

Another interesting score here today. So I get a text from the nephew the other day about some horses for sale on FB. The ad was put up Monday the 3rd sometime in the evening. Mr. and Mr. Seller said the computer start smoking and phone was getting texts so fast it went dead. More on the Sellers and approaching a potential buy later. Seller and I we really hit it off, more on that later too, so he threw in a nice little complete AND unmolested L167 AND a brand new square pan seat cover... . Will fit in nice with my '67 line up & now don't feel so bad about missing the 702 labeled 701. (701 with a 702 belt guard). I gotta get crusin cause Dan is coming over to pick one up but here is a few that I got. Missing a few things and POized for sure but both savable. Smokin deal.... 3 bills for the whole load!

This one is for you @ebinmaine. This is a pic of the 14" stack on top of my test cell. The nice little cloud is the result of applying full load to a 65.4L Mitsubishi. This cloud only last about 5 sec or so then it burns nice & clean. Total fuel consumption today after 4hrs at 100% load was 643gal.

I have Amish farming on two sides of my property, you don’t want to know how those fields are fertilized.

The sweet corn was planted under plastic and in 2 weeks it was about 4-5 inches tall and pushing up the plastic, The plastic was then pulled off and the irrigation piping was rolled out. When he started to feed the fertilized water, the corn really took off. For the cabbage, the piping was laid first, the plastic was put down, then the cabbage seedlings were planted thru the plastic by hand with a "wagon wheel" planter where the spokes of the wagon wheel poked the holes and injected liquid fertilizer in each hole. A plant was then stuck I each mud hole. Planting cabbage thru the plastic. Look close, you can see Mrs. Fisher sitting low behind the planter. Installing the piping in the corn. A line was pulled down each pair of rows.

I'm thinking that transmission would be able to hold up fairly well but that drive belt would give up the ghost long before that engine even knew it was in for a workout. Ya know... we can test this... @Achto after you get that huge cloud of black smoke injection system setup for us you go ahead and get yourself some cogged pulleys and a belt off a motorcycle. Or even better yet... Chain drive. Let's see what snaps first. All purely in the interest of science & experimentation of course.

One more virtually paint free wheel! The last one is taking another dip in the e-tank now.

Of course after Jim & I got the tractor running, it wouldn't have been right to leave before he had a chance to take a cruise on it. Gotta remember Jim, there's no windshield on this. Keep your mouth closed at high speeds so you don't swallow any bugs.

My flip phone don’t text too great... people ask me if I got their text and I remind them I use my phone to talk to people. I’m glad that you were the winner of this flash sale Jim! Your WHX22 handle was getting a little boring!

I'm young, but that's how I've always done business.. I can't stand trying to buy something via text message. It's impossible to ask everything you want to ask, and often times critical details about are left out. There have been numerous times when I've looked at an ad and read "no calls, text only", and I still call them. If they want my money, they'll answer. I've sold quite a few things over the internet and I don't think I've ever sold an item to someone who communicated solely through text message.. They all turn out to be flakes. Another issue I have with texting is everyone asks "whats your bottom dollar" without ever seeing the item... Maybe I'm old school, talking money before you've inspected the item is ridiculous. By the way, nice score. I'd love to find a round hood.. To be honest, I'm not sure there are any in this state.

Thanks Jim. I hate to admit it, but Emory gets to share it. He’s been as excited as I have! I know that once he gets old enough to use it, he’ll probably lose interest; but I can hope can’t I?😁. It’s been well maintained and runs great! I’ve got a nice 312-8 with low hours that I had been using, but will list it for sale soon, as I don’t really need both. Here is a pic from when I first looked at it. Dan had kept it in his shop the last few years since he got another mower. It has never been stored outside.

YEP!! BUNGEE CORD!! A bungee should aut hold the shift lever in place for now. Sooner or later it will under go major mechanical & cosmetic surgery to make it as good as new again.

the coil could be going bad its getting hot

starting today, both of my grandfathers wheel Horse tractors are now mine! My brother had the more beat up one, and he got it running with a Honda GX160, swapped the pulleys to go fast, broke 3rd gear in the trans kind of, and parked it in his garage for 3 years. After we cleaned out his garage and rediscovered it, I made an offer to take it from him since he wasn't using it for anything anymore. He agreed on the condition that he keeps the motor, so now I have a wheel horse with no engine! Its very beat up, and it pops out of third gear, but it is all there with the exception of the sector gear, which ive heard are notorious for stripping out. I'll have to rig something to work, but can't wait to build this! My plan is to take the 79cc from my other one and put it on here and build it into a rat rod style tractor. you'll see that eventually! also took another photo of my other 400, if you have questions about any of them, feel free to ask!

So many plans so little time. When I first moved here 36 years ago, I know now that I made plans for three life times.

If i had to guess, I'd say you would destroy the drive belt and transmission before you made that engine work hard lol Have i mentioned how much I love this machine??

I’ve got all kinds of engines that’ll puff puff.... but my diesels burn clean unless I’m really tuggin in a trailer to get up to speed. I just wanted to clarify that so EPA will pass my address if it’s on their list!

So getting back to the score, it was real enjoyable .... You veterans know that going out on blind FB or CL finds is or can be like takin your life into your own hands. This one was, fotunatly, was quite the opposite. Guy was a collector for years and claimed to have 35- 40 horses in his day. Real nice guy. Never heard of RS but said he heard of the BS so I filled him in on the joy. I have full mind to tell you younger wipersnappers how to deal with decent (older) folk like these and how they see your passion for these little red tractors . That's what got me the LR on the deal. Mrs. Seller said she could see I had passion.and just wanted me to have it. Dan on his new to him 753??

Yes sir, a little field triage & the k161 purred like a kitten. Always good to be able to drive them on to the trailer.

When we bought our Maine home in 2008 I was ready to conquer the world,did many upgrades with Plumbing, Electrical, flooring new Heating system and the list goes on and on.The plans for the Master Bath were a Shower stall ,4' vanity, Water closet and a whirlpool tub,now 11 years later and the Master Bath still has the Hot & Cold water lines through the floor and the waste line but no whirlpool tub yet. Good thing Patti is very patient because the tub is still not there,after 43 years in the Plumbing & Heating trade the last thing I want to do is Plumbing in my own home, would rather get some quality seat time on one of the WH. Some projects just take time but well worth it in the end.

That's quite a rig Dan !!! VERY impressive. I guess your next task/chore/duty is to rig up a secondary injector to produce the "rolling coal" effect.........

So far the only way I can get noticeable smoke is when I throttle up from an idle. I buried a 10" Brinly plow as deep as I could behind it and the engine barley noticed. Even pulling a stone boat didn't seem to make the engine work much.

Tell you what Sparkeye 30 minutes with the girl and bet she would be mowing....techy and all.. I looked at it sitting ther and thought here's my Denny Clarke pink LR .....maybe not this one too original?!?!

I noticed that the paint was pealing on the belt guard decal of the tractor that I purchased out of this deal. Luckily who ever painted it did not know that paint will not stick to a smooth surface. So after a little scratching with my jack knife I was able to reveal this pristine decal. I have not been able to confirm by the serial number but I'm quite sure that this is a 753.

I just had to know! I had great results with static timing on one of my 953s which has Spec suffix "A" and couldn't quite wrap my head around the idea the it would work with a spark advance cam. Took a look inside and found that it has an ACR cam. Out of curiosity I checked it with a Timing Light and it was dead on. One of the others I have has the spark advance cam, so I think it wouldn't be a candidate for static timing. One of these days I may give it a try and see what the results are, let you know when that happens.

Steve types faster The spacer is essential and note the special bolt. The #6593 can be replaced by a 1615-2RS bearing (You need 2). 7/16" x 1-1/8 x3/8"

A lot of us Wheel Horse owner stock spare tractors with decks and belts ready to go if needed. This is the first year that I have had two Wheel Horses ready to mow. I also have a third Wheel Horse and deck that just needs a mule drive to complete the unit. Yes stocking spare parts is a good idea. The Wheel Horse way around here is "A Tractor for each piece of Equipment".
