I popped a wheelie today. 16hp Kohler, full throttle, third gear, new tires, on a concrete driveway let out the clutch forgetting I was in gear. Tires squeeled, front-end lifted a foot, nearly stopped my heart. I'm glad I have a high-back seat. I've driven Wheel Horses for fifty years - never done that before! WOW!

Been there; done that. An if I remember that I already bought a certain tool, I can't remember where i put it (until a week after I buy the second one).

I went to put a new bore gauge set away in the logical drawer in my tool box, and found another set just like it. I also found the brand new spot weld drilling kit I haven’t seen in quite a while.

You dudes hauling tractors down got it all wrong unless it’s sold. The idea is to bring the trailer empty and LOAD UP!!!

Well, the relocation is final. We settled on a house in the country with 5 acres on April 1st. Our mailing address is Bushnell, FL, but we are closer to Nobleton, FL about an hour or so west of Orlando on the Gulf side. Country, cows and horses - not a tourist area, so don't tell anybody where it is I apologize for not posting in a while. We have been very busy getting our stuff from PA to FL, changing DL's insurance and doing fairly major remodel of the house we bought. We have been living in our RV next to the house while replacing floors/vanities/etc. and doing a total interior repaint. It's me for the most part and EVERY project takes twice as long as thought. Plus I discovered a few aches I didn't have back when we built our other house 19 years ago... plus we want to get everything done before hurricane/rainy season. If you don't like hot, this isn't the place for you, but on the other hand, it's been sunny almost all of the time I'm a cold sissy, what can I say... GOOD NEWS - all the Wheel Horses and other restored stuff I'm into made it to FL unscathed! There in the WAY back corner on the right (552 is in the house garage). Fortunately, I have about for times the garage space I used to have! I have to confess that I had to get something a little more robust and user-friendly for cutting about 4.5 acres of grass every week so I got a Gravely that works flawlessly. Hey it's still red(ish) BAD NEWS - Sadly, I'm not going to make the PA show this year That has been my favorite event every year and I will miss seeing all the regular attendees. We are coming to PA for a week in June to finish some business up there but not until 6/24 sadly. I kept the trailer that I can sleep in so my goal is to get back up there next year once things settle. My wife likes the show as well so, wouldn't surprise me trade the 5th we for a smaller toy hauler. We'll see . . . I'll miss you all at the show

I found this 552 on CL and it just spoke to me. Being a ‘62, Putt Putt needed to have a brother in the herd. It came with an 8 hp Tecumseh (from a snowblower possibly?) and in the pictures it had a small 1” ish stack.... but the stack was missing when I picked it up. This single stage came with it too, but I’m not positive if it’ll stay in the barn or not yet. so because of the missing mini stack, I’ve already named it “Poppy”

Any chance we can get you wheelie poppers to do it again?!?!? BTW we do like videos too! Show 'em how it's done proper Dan @Achto! Seriously just glad you just crapped your knickers Al and she didn't come over on you. that would have been serious hurts or worse. Maybe we should fab you up some wheelie bars?

How are we supposed to buy anything, if nobody’s hauling them there?

My son and his fiancé are shopping for a house so what do I do??? Start shopping for a WH for them as a gift of course! Talking with Russ @SALTYWRIGHT I discover he has a 314-8 with a Magnum 10 under the hood....perfect ! We work out a deal and I bring it home. Mechanically it’s in good shape, gave it an oil change and lubed up any moving parts. Decided I didn’t like the 22/7.50/12 rear rubber so with my Harbor Freight tire changer I go to work...off with the old rubber, clean sand and wire wheel the silver rims, coat of black primer and two coats of semi-gloss black. I had two brand new Turf-Trac RS tires in a 23/9.50/12 size so mounted them up. The fronts are what came on a 70’s vintage machine and my neighbor took a fancy to those so I gave those to him. Meanwhile in my shed was a pair of 16/6.50/8 tires on the deep rims that just needed paint. So they get the same treatment as the rear rims received. With the same semi-gloss rattle can I repaint the front of the hood. Still need to mount the rear axle bracket and figure out what to do for a mowing deck. The tractor came with two 42” rear discharge decks but I’m thinking I would rather see a side discharge on it. This will be a surprise once they find a house, my son never goes on Red Square so he won’t see it posted here. Although once he owns this sucker I’ll make sure he signs up to be a Red Square member. He does attend almost all the Wheel Horse Collector Shows with me and will be at this years show as well.

Hammers, screwdrivers and the like get misplaced. That happens at any age of the owner.I spent a whole day looking for a torpedo heater. In the shop,no luck.In the barn,no luck.I look in every out building and I can't find something that big.I gave up and found out later that my son showed up one day and took it and never said a word.He knows he has access to anything I have but leave a note.He comes by periodically to take inventory, his words not mine.Got to love em!

I have a very accurate mental filing system and every tool I have ever touched has a file with the tool's location in it. The filing system is flawless, however the retrieval mechanism to open those files has some serious shortcomings! That darned retrieval system is the problem, not my memory!

I remember doing that on my Dad's 91 416-8. I was in the field and there is a small hill. I BEGGED my brother not to tell on me. I believe I had to do his chores for a bit. Cory

Last update on the C160 seat. I have tried to lower the price from $200.00 to keep the cost in line with my 1054/953 seats. Because the metal plates are the most expensive parts I've had to supply, I've decided to lower the price and with the help of @bmiller0457reduce the cost to RedSquare members. if you supply the metal from your old seat. Sort of like a bottle deposit. The old metal must be clean and usable (not rusted out or through just clean metal ) I will deduct $25.00 making the price $175.00 for a set . (This is only for REDSQUARE MEMBERS ) (And only until the Big Show ends.) After the Big Show I'll change this Add to show the full price of $200.00. If you pm me before the Show ends and order a set I'll honor that. After the Big Show I should have enough metal plates to finish out this year. And after the Big Show I'll advertise on other sites to sell to everyone else. So if you are planing to get a set and are not attending the Big Show you will have to get them to me at your expense or have a friend take them to the Big Show for you. I'm putting this Add in the For sale section. @rjg854 bought the very first set.

Hi folks, picked this up yesterday. It runs pretty good. Previous owner said he had bought it from someone that painted it all up to display at a dealership. I dunno, sounds legit. I will spare you the gory heartbreaking details of how when unloading it I managed to dent and scratch some paint off the front of the grill, cream paint chips were already there, I did a number on the red, which is currently being concealed by color matching chip repair tape. Anyway, back to the tractor, I can't find a serial number tags, precise owner said he thinks it's a 74, he gave me a bunch of manuals that were passed on to him, only had a 75, and 76. Any clues? Also, the tranny fluid is very low...one sticker says use transmission fluid, and another says use motor oil. I leaked a little out, definetly looks like motor oil. Goes with that? The manuals I have state to use motor oil. Any help would be appreciated, and just wanted to share, thanks.

Here is a pic of most of my herd in Mathews. The C100 and Automatic10 had been written off, but neither took a whole lot to get them running. I also have another 416H that is pretty rough although it runs pretty good on one cylinder (I guess that makes it a 408??) but I took the battery out to get my neighbor up and running.

Bought this a couple years ago. It is some type of attachment for a Montgomery Ward walk behind. I fabricated it up once orrinally to work on the back and powered it just like a tiller. I had an idea to use my mount from my snowblower and fromt mount it. After a little head scratching and a couple do overs i think it will work. What do you think?

I am a guy who likes rusty patina machines..... I know this is a long shot but I have a shinny (previously restored) 754. If you have an original one and thought about restoring it please don’t!! I would love to talk to you about a barter.

Can’t hand off a machine without proper testing....so I mowed with it tonight ! Runs good, shifts good, PTO is good and the deck is fairly quiet. What I don’t like is the quality of cut from the little 36” RD. When I was cleaning the bottom yesterday the blades looked great. Maybe my grass was to long?

Bought a Suburban 400 for the wife, "she had to have it". The second time she drove it the front end raised up about a foot and she shut it off and never got on it again.

It is a scary feeling if you’re not expecting it...done it here while back on this one, and I was in 1st gear about half throttle, I’d hate to see what it would do in 3rd and wide open

Right there with your brother man Kevin. I have actually done that very same exact thing. I'd be happy to give you an example but well, I don't remember it. Lucky for me I have a BBT in my life whose memory is literally the best I've ever seen. Ever. We are very much a sharp contrast in that area.

Good question.... I’m to the point that I’m not positive I can name them all off the top of my head. Putt Putt 502 Frank 1073 Barney Fife 857 Screamin’ Jimmy Commando 800 Big Junky 1067 or 1076, I can’t ever remember The Polished Turd 656 Poppy 552 The Commando 6 (not named yet... crazy I know) Rylee’s 1267 or 1276, once again I don’t recall a couple C-101 parts tractors another Commando 800 for a special project coming next 753 missing it’s entire body for Frank now I’ll go check my memory on actual counts!

Eric, I have a little 85 Toyota pickup that was my daily driver up until about a year ago - when I pulled the 22R 4 banger out and put a 7MGE straight 6 out of a 87 Supra in it. The engine turned out to be a bit tired and uses/leaks quite a bit of oil, but man will it run, even in stock non-turbo form. 200 HP may not seem like a lot, but when you consider that the original engine was only 96 HP, that's a huge increase. And like you said, they scream. I might've already posted this picture, but I can't remember. This was from before the swap, but I had a bit of a load on it.

The original 7-1211 had 2 belts driving it from the pto. The basic tiller could be adapted to later model tractors that used a single belt. I can't tell what you have. In 1978 this was the tiller setup that was supplied Compare the mounting hardware of the two models. You may be able to drill out the rivets on the pulley and replace the bearing. Machine screws/nuts and lock washers put it back together. What is the diameter of it. Looks similar to the tractor drive belt idler. Garry
