12 pointsHad a run over to a little classic car show held near Penrith, Cumbria, UK. This is held every year and usually has a good turn out. Unfortunately the weather this morning was very wet and windy. So I expect more than a few cars didn't leave their cosy garages. Anyway a few photos of some exhibits there.

9 pointsAs it is her Birthday month thought i would share a picture of my Ranger at work. Father bought her in May of 67. With the exception a 2 years in the early 90s when father was ill she has worked every year of her life and for the last 18 winter and summer. Last year the garden did poorly things near drowned and as this year has started wet I wanted to get a bit of a raised bed. Not sure I want pressure treated chemicals and cedar is hugely expensive. The recent wind storm tipped over a bunch aspen trees. They are not good for fuel and they will rot in a few years but the price was right...free. Ranger hauled the logs in and is now transporting topsoil (or what passes for it around here). Had to stop as there is a T-storm approaching again...

7 pointsI found the picture of my 500 special I am half way through restoration( now on pause due to restoration on my daughters pink 702) just wanted to post this picture of what it looked like back in February....since that photo was taken 2 days of a couple hours and pretty much what is in the picture is back together more pictures to follow once I get back working on it

Jo Marion seat cover. Backrest redone by Ken B. Repop tombstone aluminum weight. Will not separate backrest or weight unless tractor buyer does not them. 3 pointsI've been bringing home a few buckets at a time of Appalachian forest soil every time I go riding . This is the result of 8 five gallon buckets after running it through a 1/2 inch screen . I know it's not a lot but remember I'm hauling a 700 lb quad plus all my gear too

3 pointsOver the past few weeks, I've been working on a 48" dozer blade that I recently purchased. It was pretty rough and rusty. I took it off it's long frame and swapped it for the dozer blade that is on my short frame Commando 8. I put the 42" dozer blade that was on that on the long frame and was able to sell it for a bit more than what I paid for it. That just about covered the cost of a new scraper bar. I wire brushed and ground it down to get the rust off it and filled all the pits. I'm happy enough with how it turned out. Now it has plenty of time to cure before I need it.

3 pointsHahahaha you guys are correct it was inside....once it was reassembled it actually sat in our master bedroom until we moved . Now it’s in a garage on a shelf with a blanket over it. Not the first tractor I assembled in the house...my 753 was start to finish in our dining room....my 67 John Deere 110 was started in our back room. our new place we are at now has a garage...with all my tractors in there and on shelves (one on top of each other) I still don’t have enough room

3 pointsAny hard-working engine will get heat-soaked. It's important to let the engine run for a few minutes after working so that the cooling system has a change to bring the temperature down a bit, and also even out the "hot spots" that develop around the exhaust valves and manifold passages. Even water-cooled engines have this issue. Let the engine idle for a few minutes, and the temperature may briefly rise as the heat-soak works its way through the block and head, but then the cooling system will "catch up" and even out and lower the temperature. Five minutes or so is all it takes. It goes a long way toward keeping the exhaust valves and exhaust system in good condition. This is assuming the cooling system is in good order, of course. For air-cooled engines, it means making sure the fins on the head are kept clean and clear of debris, otherwise the gunk just holds the heat in no matter what. Basically, when I'm done mowing or snowthrowing, I'll just let the engine idle while I clean off the machine. The time it takes to brush off the excess snow and ice in the winter, or to thoroughly wash or blow off the dust and clippings in the summer, is usually long enough to let the engine idle and cool down so it's ready to shut off when the cleanup is done.

3 pointsI agree it is the deck wheels. and i have to wonder why there are no check balls in the zerk fitting on any of them. You pump in some grease pull off the gun and a thin stream of grease shoots out getting on the wheel and the floor. Looked to replace the zerks but they are not screwed in they are some kind of press fit.

2 pointsSo I now know first hand what you guys are talking about. I mowed this weekend with my Commando 8, my first time mowing on a WH. Now, every time I go outside to walk my dog, I'm thinking "hmmm.... is the grass tall enough to cut yet???" Lol The Commando has taken mowing from a chore and turned it into something I'm actually looking forward to doing.

2 pointsTrina made up some new tie rods for her 867 yesterday. This'll be her primary work tractor and we move some decent loads so I ordered the parts from McMaster Carr to change over to heim joints. A very helpful and generous Redsquare member made the center sections. They're made from larger round stock. (.750?) She painted them Rust-Oleum Apple red because the tractor will be that color next winter. @bellevillerod @LengerichKA88 @Mows4three

2 points225. When the meat reaches 165 I take it out & wrap it tight in foil. Then I return it to the smoker until the meat reaches 195 to 200. Then pull it out, wrap it in blankets & put it an empty cooler to rest for a couple of hours. The meat will actually gain a few degrees temp while resting in the cooler. From there it's shred it up for serving.

2 pointsHere's the few pictures I got to take of the show. Spent most of the day trying to sell the stuff I brought and was kind of sore from climbing over the fender to fix the stupid throttle linkage on my truck on the side of Rt. 2 when the little plastic ball joint on the injection pump decided it was worn out and popped off. Good show overall and not to hot or humid like sometimes. Spent a good while talking to the guy with the Sears Handiman in the third pic. He's out of PA I think he said and has several of the 4 wheeled ones and some of the 2 wheeled ones plus a bunch of David Bradley's . Even got a suggestion from him on what might be wrong with the engine on mine and why it won't really fire even with good spark and a shot of ether, so now I need to dig it out and try it.

2 pointsDepending on what I need I buy the longest universal choke cable I can find.If I need a throttle cable I take a section a from the choke cable and use it to replace the damaged cable.

2 pointsWill likely spend a lot of tomorrow helping my dad build the deck on the back of the house at our river property. Also adding on to the house and It's to the point that I need to start pulling Romex.. If I get a free minute I might throw a line in the water and see if I can't catch something to eat. For today, I plan on giving my C120 on its maiden mowing voyage with the new engine and working on some things that need to be tended to around the house.

2 pointsI was in a rush and didn't have time, or personnel for photography. When I'm done with my truck I'll have to tow it back into the garage, I'll get pics then. The car is mid-resto mod and the transmission is sitting next to my work bench. My truck blew out either the rear main, or more likely (because it is older) the oil pan gasket. I also need an oil pump because my pressure at idle is getting down too low. My trans, which has unknown miles is also starting to get rough shifting and so I want to re-synchro it and put lower gears from a different version of the trans in since I have over-sized tires. So I needed the space. The engine in the Mustang runs fine, carb needs some fine tuning, but it runs well. In fact of the 5 Fords on my property that is the only one that can't move around on it's own. Traction turned into my issue too. Right as I was about to get the car to the crest of the slope at my garage I just a patch of bark near my wood pile and lost traction.

2 pointsMain (rear) deck wheels would be my guess, too. They should have grease zerks on them -- they'll quiet down if you put some grease in them and the bearings aren't already too worn out. It's not uncommon to find them neglected by previous owners. The rear (main) deck wheels are the gauge wheels, and they take most of the weight of the deck when it's lowered. Even with routine lubrication, they'll wear out -- possibly sooner than the anti-scalp rollers on the front of the deck, depending on the terrain you mow over. If the tread grooves on them are worn away, it's time to change them -- because they're what determines the height of cut.

Supposed to be another beautiful day here today but tomorrow is a little iffy right now... @Professor1990 that is a crazy amount of rain for anywhere but especially that part of the country. 2 pointsI drug my mom's 65 Mustang around today with my 65 Wheelie Horse. They are both red. I needed the Mustang out of the garage so I can do some work on the engine and trans of my Ranger. I wanted it parked away from the second door, so it had to go down the hill and back up the hill at the end of the garage. Last time I pushed it up that hill I think I almost had a heart attack, so I towed it this time. I was impressed with how easily it pulled that heavy car up the hill. She didn't even think twice about it.
