One or two of these should do the trick!

37 years ago I made this crib for our first son. Then it was used for our second son, and then three grandchildren. It is out again for the fourth grandson coming in June. It is made out of Black walnut, Mansonia , and Afromosia. The acorn finials are Maple. Hopefully it will continue to serve us for a few more generations. I have fond memories of building it, never thinking then that it would continue to be used.It still has teeth marks from all of them.

Wife is in Italy visiting the daughter and grandbabies (Air Force) and I decided to have something waiting for her. This will be a flower bed over the grave of her recently passed dog, Daisy. She mentioned a few times that she wanted to do something for that great little dog. So, I'm going to set this up and plant daisies( obviously) and a few annuals for now. The bed is upside down on the trailer because the corner braces are also stakes to anchor it. This is all done with "sawmill slabs". I used my trailer to get everything square. The wheel horse connection is that I'm using the horse that has a setup that I bought from @smoreau a few years ago to move the trailer and as a stabilizer for the trailer. Edit: I know that the corners are messed up, but I caught my mistake before I finished and it's square. 😀

Oh yeah, and the first thing she said when she came in the shop was “I hate the pink!”

Put a pair of older Silvertowns I have had for years on my 1964 Wheel Horse 854.

The battery box and covers are ready for final welding and smoothing.

I got the lid formed for the battery box last night. I think I’ll leave the back of the box open and integrate a battery hold down into the lid... or something like that!

Was given to be by an old neighbor. Has all the parts just needs pit together. Looking for model???? Value??? I know nothing about wheelhouse tractors.
  9. 5 points
Nothing to the Wheelhorses but I have progressed on what’s keeping me from my Wheelhorses. At least it’s the right color One more coat of redguard and time to sling some tile.

He has a spare 8 speed in stock to swap in. I might ask for it and just weld the hubs to the axles since I'd just use it for a custom but not a working tractor. All of those parts are already ruined so what's the difference now. The axles can always be cut off if anyone in the future wants to fix it.

I think that my Raider 12 plow tractor may be jealous of my newly built Radpferd. He seems to be putting on a little weight.

Well, let’s just pull that emergency stop button now. She wants it cleaned and cleared. No bondo, no paint. (“At least for now” she says). Who am I to upset the woman, right? I’ll e-tank all the new raw stuff to get the oils off it, then set it outside for a while to rust. Then as she’s on the way out, she says “or get me a shiney new cup!” And you’d think I’d shut my yap, but I respond.... “I’ll get ahold of @19richie66!” @Vinylguy Terry, if you’ve already worked on my custom order, let me know how much I owe ya and we’ll settle up no problem The woman’s got a point.... it’s “Frank” because it’s a Frankenstein conglomeration of parts, remember?

So I've been working on this for a while, phone died and I lost some pics. Engine is rebuilt, 020 over piston, 020 under crank, rebuilt starter, other parts sandblasted, primed and painted. Mower deck in progress may make a post on rebuild. Built the bike for a friend, may auction off for wounded vet program

Made some progress. I blasted the frame and other parts . My son decided he wanted a black horse so I made his wish come true.

Might seem mundane, but I did this today, and was quite excited about it: Took me about three hours to mow my yard, and the yard of the empty house next to me, which is about 5/8th of an acre of grass. 2nd gear is slow, but in my yard 3rd will bounce you out of the seat and I think my front bearings may need adjusted, so slow it was. This was also between stopping to check on the kids and helping the guy two houses down (other side of the empty house) with his newly acquired 310-8. He let is back yard get too high, tried to mow it with the deck too low, and smoked his spindle belt. Took 2 minutes to get the deck off, two more to figure out that he'd jammed the RH blade with clippings, and three hours to replace the belt, between looking for the part number on the belt, three trips to the store before getting the right one, and cleaning/greasing the deck to find the routing diagram, and a stuck auto tensioner. And I fixed the hydro pump's belt cover. I noticed it getting hot, and a metal sound at low engine speed. Turns out I had the stand-offs reversed and the pulley was rubbing the cover. I gotta rebuild that pump though. It stays dry while the engine is running, and then leaks like a sieve when I shut her down.

Save some money for my sausage pepper and onion lunch on Saturday!!!! Plus you gotta bring the spare gas! The wife doesn't mess around when it comes to tractor fix'n Huh? She goes TOP OF THE LINE for parts!

My wife learned years ago that I don't have "JUNK"! It is valuable parts storage! Load it up and bring it to the "Big Show", problem solved.

It appears it has survived very well and the builder done a top notch job in building. CONGRADULATIONS

I read Paul's post and initially thought the same thing but quickly realized @oldredrider has been around a long time. One thing I know is sarcasm. There's no way he would ever give those tractors to a scrapper so just figured I'd jump on the band wagon with him. Gotta admit, the reactions are kinda funny.
  23. 3 points
Say, I think there is a gathering of scrappers sometime in June. Might find some trucks to haul them off there. I’ve got a few junkers I’ll take to get rid of. Just don’t understand folks not wanting a brand new shiny light weight disposable machine. Lowe’s sells the best!
  24. 3 points
I can't speak specifically for that product but I do know that for the most part folks say you should have a very thin coating or no coating at all on the cooling fins.

@WHX22 is offering service to cut new key ways in your existing hubs, if you are interested in going that route.

Check out the repair that I did to my Raider 12. You'll have to scroll down a bit. The hub repair will be on the next page (6) of this post.

If you want to have the cleaned parts flash rust just spritz them with muriatic acid then give them a good water rinse and set them in the sun to dry fast.

After mowing the green and verges, I turned my attention to making sure all the tractors would start and ready for the weekend. My local vintage clubs annual rally at Carlisle airport. Took a bit of slack out of the C-125s steering. The C-81 that had not been started for some time, fired up almost immediately with a squirt of petrol in the carb. Gave the C-121s primer bulb a couple of squeezes and that fired up straight away. The Sears/Roper GT16 also started straight away as it usually does. Next all tyre pressures checked, engine and trans oils checked and anything that had a grease nipple got greased. Finally I put the lawn sweeper on the C-125 and swept the green.

That's a great idea, Eric. I could see where maybe 3 set screws might be even better, but I don't know if that would weaken the hub too much. This one will only get used for mowing so that might not be an issue. If I had three, and possibly an indention in the axle so that the screw actually set in and took some of the load, i think it would help. Achto, I read through and saw the part on the hub repair. I might go that route instead of looking for hubs. Thanks!

Some things to add to that info. It's not a bad idea to put a small flat spot on the axle corresponding with each set screw. Be sure to use a set screw that has a cup shape to the bottom of it and it is not excessively worn. They get flattened out after being tightened and loosened over the years. When you install the set screw for the first time, torque to spec, loosen maybe quarter turn. Repeat that a few times and it will give the set screw a bit of a ring to sit in on the axle.

That’ll be my longest game of “Beat the GPS time” ever.... bet I can beat it by two hours. Just let me know in the next hour or so what side dish you want me to bring for dinner, then we’ll get all that stuff cleared up for ya.

in addition to the info from 953 NUT, i would add screw on mounting tabs at available screw points and PRE LUBE THE CABLE AND VARIFY SMOOTH EASY MOVEMENT, before installing it .lots of engine pictures on site .which will show routing and placement , pete

I do not own this model, but on every single cylinder Kohler model that I own the throttle cable crosses over behind the engine, goes under the flywheel cover and attaches to the front of the flywheel cover at some point below the carburetor.

My new favorite iconic road tune. It bumped Radar Love by Golden Earring. Panzer tank feel with an adult Snow White story line. Possibly a Florida theme park thing. I would pay to go on that ride! I read somewhere that the band composed this for a boxer. The count from one to ten for a knockout.

Dan—a magnificent job as always! It has been so hard to keep quiet on this one over the winter However...the big reveal is finally here and everyone seems to like it as much as I figured they would. I think it is a tough looking machine and that engine is “too cool for school”! You know how I like smokers and that DinoBurner is one sweet engine. I also like the balance that you created with the well planned tire size/combo along with the custom touches everywhere! I also got to send a big shout out to Terry @Vinylguy for another stellar graphic performance—well done sir. in keeping with the Wheatland theme...Uncle Bob just finished a two year restore on this Case 930. it looks pretty much stock but he did a bunch of engine modifications that should put him north of 100hp by a bit! He did the best on this restore of any that I’ve seen him do! I love how Radpferd has the similar low slung wide look of these Wheatland machines. The big question Dan is—will Radpferd draw more attention than the RatRod at the shows???

I got the carb adjusted on the cinnamon horse and used it for a little pulling leverage. Reminder: when attempting to start your engine... Gas valve shall be open. Trina and her mom moved a bit of firewood and stacked it while I was tinkering around with pulling stumps and rocks from the portable garage area. The horsies stopped for a moment to pose for a pic.

Spent some time working on both Patriot horse and Cinnamon Horse yesterday. Cinnamon broke down last weekend due to a carburetor that was more like a garden hose. Just poured fuel... Got the "new" one from @A-Z Tractor Lincoln in the mail Friday. Disassembled and soaked it overnight. Put it back together and swapped it out Saturday afternoon. Wouldn't start because there was no fuel in the bowl and the battery died before it would crank enough to fill it. We'll try again this morning. Patriot horse has had a noisy starter for quite a while. A week or two ago I popped the bendix off, cleaned it up and it did start easier but the noise actually got worse. Did a little poking around and @Stepney suggested it needed a cleaning or bushing replacement. So I acquired another skill. I rebuilt a starter for the first time.... Mostly. Turns out it was right full of debris and powder and rust and dirt. I got a brush and bushing kit online and installed the new brushes following a video made by @stevasaurus a few years back. The kit I ordered didn't have the right bushing for one end (my fault) but the bushings in the starter were in good shape so I finished a thorough cleaning and put her back together. In order to make a new surface for the brushes to ride on I read where someone had chucked the whole shaft in a lathe and sanded it while it turning. I don't have a lathe but I do have a drill. I put the (armature?) In the drill and gave it a nice new clean surface. Starts like a Thoroughbred now...
