Well, according to my search, I picked up a Commando 6 yesterday. It’s been repainted and the fender was a little buggered up, but it has potential. It’s non running but has spark, so I’ll start with the fuel system and rid that of the varnish the is within. The P.O. said it was running in the yard, then died and he couldn’t get it running ever again. There are some quirky parts, but it’s got some character! Once running and driving properly, it’ll most likely remain similar to the way I picked it up.

Posilock pullers are awesome but it's a bit whimpy compared to the one I used to use to pull pump impellers off. I do have that Posi's little brother to pull small stuff. On a side note. We had to change bearings on a blower shaft this week. Belt pulley set screw was frozen in the pulley and part of an allen key was snapped off in it. Heat was not an option due to it's location and drilling was impossible. I decided to try pulling off this 13" pulley with one of my HF pullers. I though for sure I'd wreck the puller but It took that pulley off the shaft like nothing.

I dragged this one home from the winter storage area and threw it on the Big Show pile.

So last weekend I picked up a 520xi for $500 with 652 hours. After getting it I mowed some and engine oil temp was getting hot so i shut down. After that I took it and serviced it, pulled what motor covers off i could get to and pressure washed it since it was packed with grass and dirt. Did oil change in both motor any hydro system and went and did my mowing again last night. Temp gauge was on the upper end of the green but not sure what's the typical needle position for these tractors. I'll attach pics if any one has some input that would he great. Thanks! Rob

I stopped by the South Mountain Fair Grounds this afternoon. The fire company was in there cleaning the grounds for the Apple Blossom Festival. They said there was a nest of sqounks in the back corner they were trying to flush out.

What a show of force there...appears it was no small feat eradicating that nest of pesky squonks.

I need to replace a pinion seal for a friend and thought a puller might help. My father inlaw bought a tool lot from a friend who was “moving to the city” and didn’t need his tools anymore? He gave me this puller, I’d say I can find plenty of use for this thing!

I've seen those notches put into full size car Pistons to indicate the direction in which they are supposed to be installed. As to yours, looks pretty good. Decarbon. Flatten out the head a bit. Put her back together.

When a Kohler engine is at TDC the PTO end key way will be at the top. Based on the comparison to a second flywheel you have probably found TDC. The ignition timing mark on the Kohler engines is twenty degrees before TDC. Doing the math that works out to 1/18 of the circumference of the flywheel. Your flywheel rotates in a clockwise direction so the "S" mark will be to the right of the "T" mark. Measure the circumference of the flywheel, divide by 18 and go that distance to the right to find the "S". Hope this helps. The flywheel in this picture is from an older Starter/generator K-241 and the timing marks are on the back face of the flywheel.

Pick this 1977 C160 auto up a couple of month ago. Its in very nice condition. PO maintained it well. I decided to clean it up and use it. Being the curious ass that I am, I couldn't let it be. I took the head off and this is what I found. It looks pretty good, mostly carbon, but I noticed that the piston has a notch in it that is definitely from when it was made. Never seen one before. What do you guys think about the condition of the head and piston?

Today I played hooky from work and did a few errands which included running to our local Toro dealer to get some new blades for my deck. I then grabbed some pieces and made a solid lift for my 753 not wanting to wait for a cable in the mail. Bud Andrews gave me the idea and it seems to work out great. Dodged some rain drops and went out with my trusty helper (Alex not Aiden this time) and turned over some dirt. Of course I then went to switch to my harrows and the pin for the fan gear musta broke cause I have no steering and that's where it stops turning. Oh well always something.

I heard the the Squonks show up every weekend after Father's day in June. Wonder what is the attraction ?

It was a good chase and the catch was worth ever minute of it. I would have got the pics out sooner but I had spent most of the day going over everything, changing fluids and greasing. And yes I know there's wood block under the battery. The tractor still has it's original hold down for the battery. I need to find a tall - skinny battery.

Well good news is that the engine has compression! The fuel system cleaning will be next in line.

Polish up on your carbitrator cleaning ability. The first thing you do on a Tecky if it doesn't run is clean the carbitrator, then look for other problems if it doesn't start.

Maybe that’s the “it was running and just stopped” problem! I just happened to have bought another Tecky engine on the big show buy/sell thread, without any real purpose as to why. I suppose I should pull the plug and check compression, eh?

Looks good from my house. Watch out for the grease fitting on the front axle pivot pin with that bottle jack. It may already be snapped off. Your steering gear looks like it could use some grease based on the rust on the gear and the grease fitting in the block.

Rubber and metal come out a one piece. Drill a small hole in the metal part and use a bent pick to work it out.

It wasn’t much too far, maybe just over a mile. We averaged about 8 mph on the trip home... but for the wheel weights alone, it was worth the haul! Plus a complete Kohler 12!

I use scrapers all of the time. On the most used ones I have a protective build up of tape to protect from the heat . Tool works great . It only will not work on a concave scraper. For that I use the old burnisher on photo.

Well I'm not really seeing a problem then if I remember correctly you've got something like six acres of land out there? I know you wanted to make a pond. So let's Alot 1 acre for the pond. And then you got to have some space to put other stuff. So lets alot 1 acre for that. That gives you about a... Plenty of room for more Wheelhorses.
