I recently rescued this from heading to the big pasture in the sky...was almost scraped out at local junk yard...some kids were working on the transmission and must not have been able to get it done. I have all the parts to get back running. So it is now in my herd. Number 4 in my collection..

Today I am back in the game. Not a wannabe any more I found this today, was looking for something bigger but this showed up. I do not like driving at night any more so they where there in the day time so I rented a truck and headed down the highway. It works well the dirt was about 10 minutes and done. It needs some minor TLC but that is part of the game. Saving the walking trail we walk with the dogs every day. I hope you enjoy the picks. Happy to have a tractor again and back in the Chace.

As long as we're still on the topic of the Hatz engine I'll add a few pic's of the other minor alterations that I did to the engine. A pic of the engine as I purchased it. After I had the pulley to crank issue figured out it was time to move on to throttle control. Looking at the picture below, the arm for the throttle moves to your left to decrees speed and to the right to increase speed. This engine was designed to be a generator engine so originally the throttle arm was held full open (3600RPMs) by a spring on the throttle arm shaft. The tension on this spring had to be released other wise a small throttle cable would have buckled trying to move it. Second issue, no place to mount a throttle cable. To solve this, the bracket bolted to the right of the picture was made. It is bolted in the location where the ignition switch and indicator lights were formally mounted. Given the movement of the throttle arm I found it better to move the throttle control to the opposite side of the dash. Next item - get rid of the great big ham can muffler. It exited through the top and was just not going to work with the tractor. After removing the muffler I used the gasket as a pattern to make a mounting flange out of 1/4" plate. Clearance was going to be an issue and pipe with a tight 90 degree bend was not locally available, a 1 1/2" close bend header piece was purchased from Summit racing to make the first bend out of the engine. To get out from under the hood I dug through my pile of Harley exhaust pipes to find some thing with the right bend. An after market pipe from a Shovel Head had just what was needed. Before welding the header pipe together, the rims were painted and the tires were mounted. Having the tractor on all 4's allowed me to make sure the pipe would sit strait on the tractor. I'm not a fan of the looks of a bare cast aluminum block, they are just too hard to keep looking good. A light strip down & a little paint cured that. I did leave some of the machined aluminum show to break up the black. A light rub with some polish on occasion will keep the machined aluminum looking good. Some red paint on the tins, to help bring it together with the rest of the tractor. The recoil starter was polished and a custom decal from Terry was added to finish it off.

Dan you did an amazing job on this and you totally outdid yourself, i only see one tiny imperfection, just one tiny flaw in your design........... you didnt build it to bring to my house and leave it

Well I know this is not red but.........I did have to use my wheel horse. Anyway as I have mentioned before i work at lawn equipment place and take home the occasional broken box store tractor to fix and sell for some extra cash for tools and wheel horses and such. Well I got the orange one home last night and was giving it a test drive. It slid into a small rut but as it was filled in with mud it was not going anywhere. So back to the shed to grab my only other working tractor, my new to me 1056. One tug with a strap and the orange piece of junk is out of the mud.

One of my neighbors is clearing a home site to build a new house when an Olds 88 showed up, not near as pretty as the one below. I want the fender mascots. Next farm over I found this 1990 Silverado 4x4 with a blown engine that has sat for the past five years, paid $200.00 where she sits. The guy is looking for the keys, if he can not find them I'll have to remove the locking ignition so we can tow this beast home. I have a decent engine from another truck that a neighbor gave me and GM engines are easy to remove and replace.

Kevin @pullstart requested some video, now please bear in mind that I'm a wrench not a video artist. Some day I'll get that down. First off while digging through my few (very few) videos I found one from when I brought the engine home. I just had to see how it ran so I hooked up an IV bottle and did a test fire. Next is the walk around. Very windy out so I'm sorry for the noise on the video. Kind of nice having my street under construction, no worries running around on the road.

It had roughly 5hrs on the clock and had sat since 2012. I guess most people at work were afraid of it or some thing. I won it on an internal auction for less than 5% of retail cost.

I'm guessing that you can't get a socket on to the seat?? Grab an old or cheap socket & grind the outside wall thinner so that it will fit down in by the seat.

There's that... plus the retaining clips gouge the crap out of your rims. It's not unusual to find very nice, complete sets of the original series, horse head logo hubcaps commanding upwards of $200 these days. If NOS...you can expect to easily double that figure.

You know what I have at my house? You wouldn't believe it. Different types of scissors. Razors, stuff like that. I can actually remove hair from all of the aforementioned places without even setting myself on fire.

Thank you, The only part on the engine that I would like to change yet would be the air cleaner. Currently the air cleaner draws air from the fan on the fly wheel. I'm sure that there is no boost created by this and would much rather come up with some thing a little stylish. I just haven't figured out how to get rid of the box style one that it has and still keep the sensors that are inside of it...yet

Let me know when you give up. I don't want to stress any one over the brink like @wallfish.

So here it is 69/70? She runs drives and the lift works. From what I can tell she's original right down to the muffler and tires. includes - 3 point hitch, inside wheel weights - deck, may be a 48" - snow thrower - tiller - loader. I was told that it had sat in a barn for yearrrssss and the pics confirmed it. I chased this tractor for over a month and it still not over!!

I started a list of some of my GT's and parts that I plan on selling, I plan on keeping the round hoods and the '77 C160 auto. But everytime I look at the '77 B80 I think about taking it off the list , truth is it's probably the best GT I've ever owned and I've owned a lot of them in the past 45 years. Besides it's the C160's little brother.

Eric I have a 13.5hp commercial grade snow blower. So I will only push to the side and blow the rest. I really did not need a tractor but I guess I just need something to tinker with.

Ahhh.. The ones I have here are the plain chrome with the depression relief pressed into them. No paint.

The engine is 3.46" bore x 2.99" stroke. This works out to be 28.1ci (462cc). The compression ratio is 20.5:1. Power rating is (5.1HP ; 3.8kw) at 1500 RPMs - (10.1 HP ; 7.5kw) at 3600 RPMs. Torque rating is 18.4 ft lbs at 2300 RPMs. The engine weights around 115lbs.
