First time at the big show,,, ,took my wide body round hood....my wheel falls off,,,,,Steve (the Dino ) walks up ,,Squonk in tow,,,Wallfish arrives on the scene,,,,,,and explains I need a Maynard Lug Kit,,,,,,,a whaaat?? and that was during the day,,,,,,, Met Road Apples,,,,,about 10 of us closed Thursday night at the show midnight,,,,easy,,,,,at securitys request,,,,,,,, WIDE RIMS,,,,GO BIG OR GO HOME!! NEXT !!!!!!!!!

It is all about the people! The tractors are the excuse to get together, but the people are the true reason to be a part of the Big Show.

Long ride...anticipation as I turn onto Narrows Road...huge turnout...lts a sea of RED! Chatting up friends I only see face-to-face this time each year... Sad to leave thinking it’s gonna be 360 plus days before I can do it again.

As I stated in a thread begun by @JCM Jim, I ordered a 10 x 20 portable garage. Trina and I decided on placement of it and started clearing the area a bit tonight. We'll be leveling out the ground as best we can and laying down Typar or Tyvek as a vapor barrier and covering that with 3/4 crushed stone. We're going to have a path down both sides at least 3 feet wide for snow clearing. There should be enough room inside of it to keep all of our Horse herd, log splitter, snowblowers, lawn mower, whatever other small engine stuff we have and some yard maintenance type things like rakes or shovels or whatever... The front door will open between these two bigger trees. This is where the side will go... It will be just past this rock pile.

A little make up and she will be a Hollywood star.

I have heard rumors that this was going to be happening. This is the first official word that I've seen on it. This is just further proof that our society has become more and more disposable and everything is just to be thrown away and considered garbage after a certain amount of hours. I DO understand that the technology of oils and lubricants and engines is light-years further ahead than it was even so much as a decade ago. That said, I do NOT condone this system. Quite frankly I think it's disappointing and disconcerting and offers further proof that as a group we are no longer capable of maintaining anything long-term.. I would never buy one of these engines. IMHO... Laziness at its finest. Please don't take me for being negative minded. I'm just saying this is not a system or types of equipment I would ever want to own.

Had to cut down a 45+ yr old maple tree in my front yard. Most of the tree and limbs ended up in my driveway. So the 753 came in handy clearing off the driveway so I can get to work in the morning. Can't get over the power that little tractor has.

TSC is by the pound. Cheaper than most....

Some of the valves do indeed have screens. The screens can’t be removed. Buy a new valve and grommet. They are cheap

Well my chrome pipe arrived and I finally had the opportunity to finish this project up, so as requested I'll share the build on my stack. My louvered pipe is 1 3/4", my chrome pipe is 2 1/2" so I will need to make a transition. To start this I grabbed some hole saws and made some washers from some 14ga sheet metal. First cut, just under 2 1/2" od. Then cut them again to 1 3/4" ID Next the pieces to fit inside the 2 1/2" pipe. First I cut two 2 1/2" pieces of pipe to length, 3" long for the bottom and 1"long for the top. Now you can't slide a 2 1/2" pipe inside of a 2 1/2" pipe and a 2 1/4" pipe is any thing but a tight fit inside of the 2 1/2" pipe. I require a tight fit between the pipes, so this is the best way I know to get there. I cut the pipes length wise so that i could collapse them. I continued trimming this gap until these would slide inside of my stack. Now that it fits inside I can tack weld the seam then remove this piece and finish welding it. This process is repeated for the 3" long piece of pipe. I plan on bolting these pipes together instead of using a clamp so I slide the 3" long piece inside the stack and drilled 3 holes through them. Then I adorned the inside of the baffle pipe with weld nuts. Then I added the washers to these pipes. I welded the upper 1" piece to the baffle. Then I slide the baffle inside the stack and tacked the lower piece on. This method helps keep every thing centered. All welding complete on the baffle. A little paint and a wrap with fiberglass and the baffle is ready for installation into the chrome stack. Here is the finished product. Sorry no picture of it installed on the tractor. That will come later, when the tractor is finished. An important note when installing a new chrome pipe. Make sure that the pipe is completely clean before you start the engine for the first time, unless you want permanent finger prints or or smudges burnt on to your chrome pipe forever.

Inching my way there but by bit. Grille now has some Ford blue on it and the fender pan is painted.

Wish I could go but not a chance 1039 miles, next year maybe there's a chance. Seen the customs from near and far, maybe next year they'll be the star.

You know...the "Magic Touch" can go a long way. I think I would spray some carb clean all around that linkage.

I knew it would be easy for some of you but I never tough it would be because it was seen on TV. I guess next time we will have to eliminate the TV factor. Although no one has named or described how it works a couple of you seem to have the general idea of it. They are Clamp Nail driving tools. These are designed specifically for miter joints. They drive a special spline (clamp nail) through a proper kerf cut into the mitered pieces which not only aligns faces but also draws pieces together. They will make a perfect miter without any glue or other fastener and joint will not pull apart. For this purpose totally superior to Lamelloes (biscuits), faster, and much cheaper to use. No specialized power tool needed.Not a very common thing today but extremely useful if you have it. Most who use the Clamp Nails use a modified pneumatic palm nailer. I assume that is what @squonk was referring to in his Norm comment.

Thanks, it pays off to watch the local auction for shop equipment! I picked up this Snap On 240V mig cheaper than I bought my Lincoln 135 Plus in 2003.... and it needed an o-ring in the gas solenoid. The bench was something like $15? I put the crossmembers under it when I built the transmission vice. It’s nice and high for welding without bending over too. When I was in my tool and die apprenticeship, I put most of my paycheck towards my tool account and was constantly buying more tools at shop cost. That was right out of high school, with no real responsibilities other than a truck payment.

If the chrome is still there and not rotted off, you can clean it up with crumpled up aluminum foil and water, or some guys use coca cola. It works great if the chrome is salvageable and it doesn't leave any scratch marks. That's a good idea! Mike can carry some extra gas for every time one my tanks go empty at a show. I'll keep him as busy as a AAA rescue truck. Probably find some room on there while we're at it so he can carry a jump box, too. Plus air compressor, tire plugs, tow strap, extra spark plugs, points file, misc. tools ect. ect. ect. @Sparky has a lot of shopping to do so he can get all of this in order and ready before the Zagray show on 5/4.

Taking @19richie66‘s advice on sheet metal work, I prepped a solid block, peened the tack welds, and used a thick cut off wheel to take off the rest of the tacks. The aluminum slab was close to the grinding to help pull heat away from the seam, but it’s 44 degrees in the shop!

Found a 1964 1054 in tractor salvage yard. She's rough, lots of cobin.

As for fuel pumps. The older aluminum ones I rebuild because I still have several NOS Kohler kits for them. If it has the plastic newer style, I don’t even waste my time, they are inexpensive so I just put a new one on and trash the old one. I buy them in bulk like the fuel shut off valves, transmission rubber boots, fuel filter, air cleaners, carb rebuild kits, points, plugs condensers, and gaskets. These items, like predator engines, (ha) are expendable items and get tossed.

Ethanol in the fuel slowly builds up on the brass screen (on the petcock) this is what also clogs the small passages in the carbs, it turns into a brown hard mineral like substance. It not necessarily actual dirt that is building up in your fuel tank...and it's always wise to use and in line (paper element) fuel along with these screens.

Well now that just down right sucks... looks like a PO wasn't keen on checking/changing oil. That cylinder looks rough but might be saved. The way I see it you have only two options, rebuild or replace/repower. Third option is parts it out to try and recoup yer investment but not keen on that but get it. I would pull the motor apart and check things out and figure out what parts would cost and go from there. Since it ran after it threw the rod chances are good nothing else was busted up in the crankcase. Good luck and keep us posted.

Interesting..I suppose if i had a Muncie 4 spd Hurst shifter in a 396 Chevelle with a 4.11 rear end all this might make a difference. For a 8 speed WH with 12 hp not so much....

So glad that tractor delivery karma came back around to you What a sweet little tractor and I too am a big fan of M-series Kohler’s. I think we have about 4 or 5 of them around here right now...I’m looking for the right one currently to put in Zach’s Blackbeard...

I’ve got a full bottle of 75/25 for the mig and plenty of welding to do! A bench is cleaned off and Frank’s on the lift.
