After 60 yrs, 3 surgeries (1 back) and 2 stents I finally decided to pamper myself. Almost a Qtr. million miles on the Tundra and it was time. Picked up this 2013 GMC Sierra SLT 78,000 mi. Only thing it doesn't have is a moon roof and rear defogger. Buttons everywhere. I hit one by accident and the mirrors folded in. Hit another one and the mirrors ,seat , and pedals moved. Really digging the 10 way power seat and Bose sound. Finally had a nice day for some pics. Just waiting for my Weather Tech mats to arrive. I'll be Stylin an Profilin!

For the last few years now, my grandfather has been wanting to start knocking down some invasive brush at his house. Usually we use an old Jari Monarch walk behind, but I picked up a 50" side sickle over this winter, and surprised him by bringing his old Electro 12 back to it's home for the job. Grandfather has owned it for many years before it finally quit and was set for pasture. It's been laid up in my shed for the last few years with a bad rear end and a clapped out engine. A C160 donor engine is in it now, and man what a thumper.. still working on the rear end but I got it going good enough to work all day. Have to say I'm impressed with the little unit. Figured you'd like to see some photos The unit is a 7-1311 50" SMS. Tractor is a 1968 Electro '16' as it was. Fits right up perfectly.

Nice truck Mike. Only the steering wheel, throttle and brake pedals are on the wrong side.

Had to use some of those @pullstart loading skills to get these on yesterday.

I know just what you mean Mike. Getting old takes its toll on a man and I like getting in and go. I don't like working on my car or truck anymore. So I ordered a new 2019 Dodge Big Horn loaded truck and get it monday. This is like my new one.

This is the biggest sell/buy/swap meet for wheel horse's in the world I think. Its not a problem to sell or buy here. IT A PROBLEM TO STOP BUYING.

Holy crap ! You should see the one I just bought for $400 ! It's a 1994 Toro Wheel Horse 314-8 with only 275 hours and I swear it's in perfect, showroom condition, not a scratch, the former owner kept it clean and perfect, runs and purrs like a kitten. ( I will post some pics as soon as I figure out this forum,,, new here) I just bought a new house with a BIG lawn and I never owned a lawn tractor before and I was asking around what's the best one? Everyone I talked to said "Wheel Horse" I didn't know what a Wheel Horse was? A friend who is a self proclaimed tractor expert that used to own a Wheel Horse was in tears, honest! he was crying! when he seen the 314-8 I bought, he said he used to own one and was sorry he got rid of it and it was the best tractor he ever owned, he said his $10,000 John Deere is crap compared to that. Of course he wanted to buy it from me , insulting me by offering me $500 for it, told him, nope, not for sale. He was amazed how perfect is was, he said I could take it to tractor shows and win awards for it and not to run it so I don't get it hogged up,,,,,NO, I am going to use it! ( he wants it so bad that I worry about him breaking into my garage and stealing it ) I spent the past month searching the classified ads looking for a used lawn tractor and when I found a bargain, good one, it was quickly sold then a few days later the same one was for sale again on another ad with a private guy that had 50 other tractors for sale at double the price, so I figured it out there are old guys out there that buy up all the bargains and clean them up and put banana peels in the engine and resell, flip them for more money. I found my Wheel Horse on an online classified site that's not popular anymore and the ad had no picture, so I called the guy and he told me how it was in excellent condition and when I went to see it I was amazed how perfect it was and quickly bought it. I asked him IF anybody else called him, he said no, I was the only one,, the reason why he didn't have 100 buyers coming to him cause he didn't have a picture of it with his ad. Of course I folant it, and showed it off to those a**holes that have 50 used tractors for sale and told them how bad they screwed up by letting this one get away and the one asswipe told me I bought a piece of **** that I can't get parts for anymore , but I know better and told him he was jealous and pissed he missed a good one. My tractor expert friend, co-worker said I could sell it for $3000,,,, I find that hard to believe,,, but I tend to think it's just as good or better than a new $3000 tractor so I am going to keep it and use it and keep it forever. Don't you just hate it when a loser like me that knows nothing about lawn tractors has the one everybody else loves and wants? I mean I didn't know there was a cult following out there that worshiped the old Wheel Horse tractors,,, I just wanted the best one and everyone told me Wheel Horse is the best,,, I didn't know better!

You will have the best selection of for sale items early Friday morning. Use the Big Show buy/sell thread that is featured on the home page. I have sold many items already including 4 tractors and will be listing many more items including 3-4 more tractors. Trying to get my herd under control, but just when I gain some ground, 3-4 more horses show up in the barn. See what I mean.

That is definitely a home-brewed part - they used the common 2" heavy wall structural tubing. I wouldn't trust it on anything over a very light aluminum snowmobile trailer - that thing is going to put an incredible amount of stress on the transaxle housing and will probably crack the casting with any real weight on or against the ball hitch. You have to keep in mind that these tractors will pull several tons easily, but stopping that weight is an entirely different matter and can result in destroying the tractor, trailer damage and possible injury to the operator. The best option for moving larger trailers is to use a bigger, more capable machine - a 3pt hitch and proper adapter will do a lot more heavy lifting. Sarge

Nice Score Paul! We have had Zach’s Blackbeard for about three years now...I’ve been dragging my feet on getting it going again. It is an awesome machine that is super fun to use and looks cool doing it. Good luck with yours. This is still one of my favorite pics of two modified but really cool GT-14’s and a couple of great forum members that built them! Glad to see/hear that your wife talked some sense into you Aldon! Please be safe on that long voyage west.

Woke up the 246H from its winter slumber and pulled the deck off to clean remnants from last seasons final mowing out of it. Gotta wire brush the underside and paint it before I start mowing this year. Decided I'm gonna change out the battery cables on it as well. Also put the proper drive belt tension spring on the tractor. Previous owner had two smaller springs hooked together on it.

Got my C-175 back up and running yesterday. I had a laundry list of problems, some big and some small, so I put the tractor on the lift and got them done. Project one was to find out why my key stopped working. Turns out my PTO interlock switch had some gunk in it. Sprayed it down with electrical parts cleaner and that convinced it to start working again. Project two was to replace my front axle. Years ago before I owned the tractor part of the axle cracked and was repaired. I picked up a spare to replace it with when I had time so that went fairly smooth, just need to replace the tie rods soon now Project three was a decision made after taking half the tractor apart for projects one and two. For as long as I have owned it (5 years) and for as long as I can remember before that when it was my grandparents tractor the lights never worked. So I picked up some new lights for it, ran all new wiring, and now the old girl can see in the dark again. Now it's time to get the mower blades sharpened, the deck on it, and get my leaf vacuum that is in pieces back together because I need to clear my yard before I can mow it but at least today is supposed to be 70 and sunny!

Gave the muffler a little love (VHT flameproof). gave the PTO hoop a little shine (sanded to 1000g & polished & sealed with sharkhyde) found a cracked battery tray off of fleabay for 3 bucks + shipping. We have just the cure for that sort of thing. after a few coats of VHT vinyl dye...like a glove: Time to leave the nest

I decided to put the grader blade back on the 312-8. Crawled under 312 and attached the solid lift link. Pushed the grader blade under the tractor dropped the lift and the solid link was too short. I had loaned grader blade to a friend last fall and just got it back a couple of weeks ago. The 312 has 25 x 900 x 12 Alltrails II on the rear and a few mounts ago I put 16 x 400 x 8 Triribs on the front in place the little 6". I didn't want to fix the grader blade where it wouldn't fit on my other tractors. So I had to make an adapter kit. It's on there but it's not completely finished .

Fixed a leaking wheel seal on the loader. Hub was pretty loose thought I had a bad bearing. Key was loose installed a new one tried some JB weld to make up the small gap. We'll see if that works. Pulled the vavle apart to clean out and new o rings. Opened up one cylinder for rebuild. Plan to do them all plus a few new hoses. Then gonna make a quick attach for the bucket and forks.

I had to work on one of those mail trucks with the steering on the right. I couldn't even drive it on the lift !

put a long hollow tube...maybe a small od fuel line....in the funnel so an air vent gets created, allowing air to escape ass you fill the trans.. CAUTION....these hydros are EXTREMELY SENSITIVE to the tiniest bit of debris.... so wipe everything d9own before filling...

Thank You all for the welcome. That's the pic right after I unloaded it after bringing it home, nice and clean. I admit I am still learning how to operate it. If you notice the toggle switch on the left side the former owner installed an electric fuel fuel pump and wired it to the switch, he didn't know he could have wired up directly to the ign switch via a relay, I will fix that, plus a series of diodes and a fuse for added protection, he said the mechanical fuel pump went bad and the electric fuel pump works better,,, I don't know? What surprised me how quiet and smooth the engine sounds, I was thinking that big engine would be LOUD and shake itself to death, but even at full throttle it purrs like a kitten, the guy just changed the oil, the oil is so clean it's hard to see on the dipstick. Also the way the mower deck discharges out the back surprised me, never seen one like that and that's a great idea. Maybe a week ago I never knew a Wheel Horse ever existed until I talked to everyone telling me that's the best, I was ready to buy a used 2016 Simplicity Boradmoor for $1800 until I found this one. My thing is buy the best so I never have to buy another one again. Thank You Guys Again Tom

418-A is a beast. If I needed a tractor to mow with and I could get that, I’d buy it. You won’t get anything that will work like that tractor for $1000 and last another 30 years. Looks like it has been kept up. Lower your gate, Make an offer, if he takes it, don’t look back.
  33. 3 points
I stand corrected, that where I saw it.

I could not begin to count the number of tractors I have bought and sold at the big show. If you're looking to buy one, it'll be there. Looking to sell? No problem!

VERY nice GT-14.I have 5 or 6 of them myself.I see by the exposed fuel tank that it's an early one.Later ones had the full cast iron grill protecting the tank.Be careful you don't run into anything and poke a hole in that plastic tank.Have fun with your new toy.

I wouldn’t bet against it either I had the privilege of watching Kevin put 4 tractors in the Colorado last year at the show. I don’t know how he does it but it can be done

Yeah, but I had to load'em myself. I didn't have the mafia and Jay's @roadapples FEL.

it's a 100 dollar engine, one thing I would recommend keep your old engine even if it's shot, if you ever go to sell it will help

Very nice Mike. You should get 250 plus out of that one too!

Thought it was a bit strange. SIL had a LH drive Chevy van some years back. I drove that ok. Though it did have a tendency to want to go on the right side of the road. I jest not.

Somewhere I read here recently... some of these parts took 60 or so years to rust in place. Don’t expect miracles in minutes... be patient and it’ll come off

His engine runs fine. That's why I said fuel pump. Check both to be positive

I love how everyone drills out the side of the dash housing and puts the throttle there. Same thing on the one I parted. That one should clean up nice. I definitely would preserve it the way it is. Paint the wheels, new set of tires and get it mechanically sound and it will be a nice survivor. Good luck with it. I had fun building Skittles, although she looked way worse than that when I got her.

This is true @squonk. In fact 3 of the major small engines came from the Milwaukee area at one time. Briggs, Kohler, and Wisconsin were all made around the Milwaukee area. Tecumseh also had engine plants in WI As far as garden tractors... Bolens, Simplicity, Economy/Power King, Ariens / Gravely, John Deere, Case/ Ingersoll, Jacobsen/Ford/Oliver/Minneapolis.

A ton of sweat equity but a lot of $$ too:-) Not to mention the high quality welding skills of @fast88pu

If you want to sell one you could list it on the big show pre-sale thread, then you can concentrate on meeting people and enjoying the show.
