Interesting Sign on Truck I followed Yesterday in Indianapolis!

Well the 1054 transformed from snow plowing mode to spring garden plowing mode today. Still have to order my new lift cable then I should be good to go.

This is the normal view of my new Amish neighbors farm from my kitchen window. This morning when I looked out, I could see Mrs. Fisher on top of the mound of top soil holding the reins of six horses on this side of the mound and an overturned piece of equipment on its side behind her. I could not see Mr. Fisher and was afraid he may by under the wreck. I yelled for Mrs. K to call 911 as I grabbed my binoculars. With the binos I was able to see Mr Fisher working under the horses to untangle the harness. It appeared no one was hurt so the 911 call was cancelled and I sprinted the 300 yards to help. It takes about 3 minutes for a 76 YO to cover 300 yards. They had borrowed two horses to help their four pull a heavy 15 row grain drill that they were going to use to plant grass seed for a pasture. Mr Fisher was between the drill and the horses where he was starting a small engine that powers the hydraulics on the drill. When he started the engine the horses bolted up over the dirt pile and the drill overturned and dug into the back side stopping the horses. Luckily he was able to dive to safety before the drill ran him over. This would certainly have been a fatal accident. We had to cut some of the harness as it was tightly wrapped around some of the horses legs. After unhitching the six horses and getting them secured, with a fork lift we were able to right the grain drill and pull it off the dirt pile. The only damage was to the cut harness and the 20' long 4x4 channel tongue that had a slight bend. Just another day in the neighborhood.

And I have 2 Cubs, a 47 and a 50.

I know that I am probably contributing to the delinquency of a minor but here are my thoughts! Just save what is left of the hood for the custom and build a new frame to hold a Twin Cylinder Kohler and an Eaton 1100 Transaxle. Sell the steering column and the front axle and use a newer cast steel axle.

I almost rolled this 782 out playing around 😫. No idea it was faster than my son's go kart!! So, knowing this, he thinks it's now his since I am setting a bad example by a 40 yr old beating an 11 yr old in a race and winning on a garden tractor

I was wondering why the rear lights wouldn't work on the C-125. I suppose it would have helped if I'd wired them up after the rebuild. Did that this morning.

Well, I'm at the ER 😢. Today was not a good day. I decided to go horseback riding - something I haven't done in many years. It turned out to be a big mistake! I got on the horse and started out slowly, but then we went a little faster; before I knew it, we were going as fast as the horse could go. I couldn't take the pace and tried to gracefully bail. Unfortunately, my foot got caught in the stirrup and I got dragged by the horse through the feedlot. I couldn't get the horse to stop and was choking on cow chips (yuck!). Thank goodness the manager at Toys-R-Us came out and unplugged the machine. But, he had the nerve to take the rest of my change so I wouldn't attempt to ride the elephant. How many of you actually read what I wrote? If you did, copy and paste for someone else to get a laugh!!

Picked up whats left of an rj 58 today. Its in pretty rough shape but it was too cheap to resist. I was thinking about making a custom out of it, only issue is i would have to find an affordable 3 piece trans. i was also thinking about selling it as it is or parting out whats left of it. What do you guys think ?

Tell you what Kev you do the field stripping ... sounds like you gonna have the crew for it. Just don't ask to borrow a tub from @wallfish or he is gonna want a cut in the action! Set yer sights on one of Squonk's machines --- I want the front rims since off one since he went and sold his from under me! So much for putting V61's on my winter project. Have a couple of green & yellow rattle cans with ya for pepper spray in case he catches ya in the act. Old GTM trick there... Might be some t-shirts in it for ya if I can hear him screamin from here!

A lot of people, me included, question the reasoning behind what is and isn't acceptable for the different sects. It seems the several things that are not acceptable are pulling a piece of machinery with a tractor although the machine itself may have an engine, and the use of electricity from the power grid, and the driving of an automobile. Although I see a fork lift being used on a regular basis. The land line phones for business use are located on a pole some distance from the buildings. Most of the stationary equipment and tools are pneumatic and powered by diesel driven air compressors. This includes the water irrigation systems. The wells and water systems are pressurized with air...no pumps. Diesel driven generators are used to provide power for battery charging. The constant activity between the machinery and the horses is always an accident waiting to happen. A runaway like we had yesterday usually does not happen without injuries.

Coming along nicely. Will be like a new machine when your done! I recently got my Commando 8 running again after being out of commission since last September.

Those diesel Cubs make my mouth water..... here is my Cub 123 an #1 tiller. Also has a mower deck.... it works good, but I don’t use this one for mowing. (This one will likely be for sale soon.... )

I see a lot of decent things in the garbage all the time. Got. Raider 14 in the garbage a year ago. Yes it's true. Someone stashed it under a couch and seen it when I got to transfer station after dumping. Today, this rolled out of the back, under a pile of banana boxes and old blankets. Put in a battery and it runs. I called the customer I picked up the container from and they told me it is too old and worthless. I like CUB and gave it a home but away from the Horses! I got my wife to be hooked on CUB and LawnBoy so it can stay with hers. Lol 😁

Maybe when you GTM fellas come back.... ok never mind a stripping competition at the tractor show just don’t sound right!

Now thats a good idea. I have a locked up 8 speed that I could repair and put in it. Also might just have a few big block kohlers that wouldn’t look so bad in it.

This reason is why our 782 with the twin stacks is our tractor of choice for GT skiing.

Some of those look vaguely familiar. If you want to go wider, go with dual wheels. Tire size will determine how wide you can go, like dual 6-12s will end up about 42 inches wide like pictured below and then dual 23x10.5x12s will go super wide. You can fine tune the width with custom wheel spacers to get the exact width you want. To stretch and go longer just add angle steel to the frame but going too long will make it turn like the radius of a greyhound bus, so keep that in mind.

Lights do work better with electricity!! Also Circuits also work better when you remember to install the fuse into the fuse holder! Yup spent an extra hr. on that one!

Our community lost a farmer last week . He was working on his manure spreader when he got caught up in the auger. Probably something he did all the time and got to comfortable with and careless. I can think of five farming accident deaths just in my area of the top of my head. Just try to be as safe as you can when you’re working and be aware of your surroundings. I’m also going to add that your comfortable ripped up Carhart jacket you could never be without might be the biggest hazard to you.

Every community is different. The Decons (I believe,someone correct me if I’m wrong) set what is and isn’t acceptable for their community. You can have a hand crank washer in one and have to use a washboard and tub in another. Generally there are some more freedoms and leeway when it comes to the operation of a business. The Amish nursery where my grandpa used to buy stuff (Burr Oak Township) has electricity and a phone. The BUSINESS had those things, the house didn’t. I realize this doesn’t give a definitive answer, but there is some inconsistencies(<from the outside looking in) from community to community simply due to leadership and what they allow. I still remember the first time time I saw a buggy launch a 16ft Jon boat... I was amazed at how smooth they made it look, but more so at the fact that the boat had a 10 hp Johnson on it Glad nothing more than some harnesses were hurt, could’ve been a lot worse for everyone involved.

late to the party, but it's not that hard to cut a new slot if you have access to a lathe. The rear tranny on Bendy had a wallowed out keyway I just clamped it in the lathe and cut a fresh slot along the hole length. A longer key spread the load and meant I didn't need to replace the hub

The IH dealer I worked for straight out of highschool , his daughter had one (which happened to be the mother of one of my best friends at the time) I got to run for an hour or so one Saturday morning mowing the lawn before I ever went to for him, yep that lil diesel was awesome, but I still have a hankering for an Onan up on the governor plus the 982 has a stretched wheel base wider bigger tires turning brakes Cat0 3pt ect.

Gave the Black Horse a wash this morning. Needed it after his ploughing match yesterday. Washed the C-125 as well. That had got it's wheels rather muddy, hauling logs from a field down the bridleway last week. Here they are basking in the morning sun on the green. Late afternoon I put the 36" deck I'd recently acquired on the 125 and mowed the green. Pleased with the deck but not so with the 125. Tappet cover decided to leak.

I went with my father in-law to pick up a race car this morning, ended up with this. Apparently it was originally in the Pontiac dealership in Portage or Kalamazoo in the 50’s. It’s mostly complete, shy of the glass. Luckily the panels are flat.

Based on the hood trim, this race car is an early 40’s Chevy Special Deluxe. It could have looked like this hot rod, but most the bodies sourced for this class are cars that rotted in a field. The cowl to the roof line are supposed to be factory pieces, the doors, fenders, trunk and hood are allowed to be custom. Leaf springs have to support the car but the solid axles are allowed to be controlled by links. Engines can be built inline sixes or stock crate V8’s.

Obviously anything you can do to reduce the temperature of the rear cylinder is a good thing. The base the oil filter screws into is prone to leaks. It is only fastened by two small bolts and has a very narrow gasket area. If there are any oil leaks at all, the oil is blown across the cooling fins and every blade of grass sucked in by the fan sticks to the fins. The other problem I see is the missing grommet that seals the oil filter to the tin shroud.

Dan @Achto has got a whole flock of them including a diesel. All I know is they got a road gear and a half and they boogie.
