And ain't gonna take it with ya... heard tell banks got plenty of money... So the Missus and I went in on this together. 2019 tractor show circuit is lookin to be be pretty sweet! Not to mention a BS trip! Figure I can stuff at least one or two long frames and a a couple of shorts in it. Thing has got a 30 gallon auxiliary tank with fuel pump for gassing tractors not to mention all the other amenities.

Got out today and Started to clean up the yard after a snowless winter! 70 wonderful degress! Of course I had to give her a bath after.

We brought the new 12/1076 out of the barn, topped off the Sunstrand (this one’s got motor oil) and took a stroll through the field as a way to have fun with my girls I haven’t seen for a few days. We found a fitting name for the ole conglomeration of parts... I present to you all, “Big Junky”

We did our time in tents EB. Then graduated to an enclosed which really doesn't make that bad of a tramper does it Tom! At shows your not in it much anyway. Always out tractorin in the show grounds. Pretty much just to sleep and hang out with folks under a awning. This guy is a 24 ft and isn't the worst to tow with a big truck but even then you are always aware it's behind you. Your attention to the road is picked up a few notches. Diesel went from 22 to 10 mpg tho. No particular reason on this model John... price point and inside lay out to get tractors in. Getting tractors in might not be fun as the ramp angle is pretty steep. May have to come up with a winch system for non runners.

I had to shuffle some things around, so we had them out. Took little miss for a ride. Parked them and have let them sit out most of the day and I was amazed how many people slowed down to look as they drove by 😂. I was sitting here smoking and thought the lighting was good for a photo shoot, even though they aren’t the most photogenic.

I'm guessing it's like the secret room in 50 shades of grey with all kinds of apparatus that Jim is " gettin it set up the way you like! " and that's why there wasn't any pics.

Well boys and girls I've got kind of a neat treat for you. Trina and I have been going through old things and boxes of stuff that I've inherited over the years. My paternal grandfather was quite a car nut to say the least and we found magazines and books dating back into the 30s and all kinds of car pamphlets and information from the 1920s and 30s up into the 60s. Added a couple more things to my trailer today - gravel guards on the fenders, chrome wheel trim, and stained/waterproofed the deck. I also got my Gorilla Lifts installed the other night. Few more small mods to come.

I have always thought a 953 would look good with a narrow front end and finally decided to take the plunge. The tractor is more maneuverable than with the wide front end and steers great. This 953, which I bought from @Mike'sHorseBarn, has the Ross Steering box but the same thing could be done with the later models with a Fan Gear 953/1054 or GT-14. The entire steering system bolts in place with holes that were already in the frame and the entire process is reversible if I were to decide to go back to stock. I started with a foot long piece of 3/4" round stock (an old steering shaft) and bent it at the center to fifteen degrees so the tires would be canted in like they are on an old farm tractor. Then I made a fixture to hold the axle in place while welding it to a piece of one inch round stock (an old one inch axle). I mounted the tires (Deestone 3.50-6) and wheels and they looked great! Shaft collars were added inside and holes for cotter keys were drilled on the outer edges of the wheels. The excess 3/4" axles were cut off. Once the axle and pivot were welded together it was on to the bearings and attachment fabrication. I used 3/16" X 4" flat bar and driller and tapped them to secure it to the frame. Having a 963 frame hanging around made the job easier. A four lug one inch trailer hub is used as the pivot point. With the bearings in place I could determine the location for the snap ring groove to hold everything in place and cut off the rest of the axle. Next a steering arm was fabricated and welded in place. It was a tight fit between the frame and tire. Now it was time to fabricate a drag link between the steering box and the steering arm. I bought the ball joints from Lowell https://www.wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/steering.html#!/3-8-x-7-16-Ball-Joint-2-Tie-Rod-MTD-Cub-Cadet-Toro/p/84788581/category=23548038 and fabricated the drag link from 5/8" round stock. I drilled and tapped the ends and used 7/16-20 threaded rod to join the ball joints to the link. This was a fun project and I am pleased with the way it came out. Looks a lot like the image on my tractor crossing sign.

EB, they work better if you put some corn on them. Squirrels are smarter than you think!

The steering wheel is surely custom, but the zip ties are for the plow pins!

The mill uses a 1" band at 1.3 teeth per inch.Those are standard 15" trailer tires and rims.I have added some pictures of the mill during it's recent refresh.The tension and tracking are done at the idler.The engine is on a sliding plate that is moved by the right hand to increase belt tension.With all new materials this mill cost around $500 to build less engine.The engine is an 8 horse Honda.I get bands made to order by Country Saw and Knife and resharpen them with a Dremel tool.I can usually get 5 regrinds per band.The cost is about $11.00 per blade new.

The short list is shrinking! The body is installed and I was able to hook-up the brake linkage. For the springs; I wanted to keep shiny, I addressed the rust and old paint with wire wheel, tumbler and evaporust...and instead of parkerizing, I sprayed with a coat of Amsoil MP (metal protectant). And even though I am a Ford guy, I do have a soft spot for an old square body GM. Here are two I currently own. The first one is the 88 GMC I just bought a couple days ago. This one will be my daily driver and work truck when I get it up and running. The second one is my old 79 K20. It is just about completely wore out, and has pretty much retired to just sitting around until it's time to put out a bale of hay for the horses. And here is one you guys should enjoy, my boss just bought this old 64 F350 4x4. Keeps telling me he wants to sell it, but always backs away every time I make him an offer on it

So... long winter but spring weekend is finally here. Been working a little on the 416-8. Member here answered my ad looking for a 520 front end conversion so that got installed. I have the frame all prepped and ready for paint tomorrow (hopefully based on temps). The last thing to paint on this machine is the rear fender pan and frame. Here are some photos as she sits.

Was helping my son-in-law put in a sliding door on Wednesday. Working without a jacket. Thursday it rained with upper-30's temps. Friday morning the sun is out and we complete the job. No sooner do we get the wall closed up and the sky darkens, it starts to snow, then hail, then the sun comes out again. I'm gonna find that Punxsutawney groundhog and strangle his furry little neck.

Viking cat, orange... got a cat like that too. Just showed up one day and never left. Love's too sleep in the tractor seats. Some tractors just gotta work, no time to dress for the prom. If I put too much into one it becomes a safe queen. Then I find I no longer get to enjoy the tractor. Don't get me wrong every man should have a tractor that just poses for pics. One that sits with pride on the main drive at the big show. But the tractor with 20lbs of mud in its chains is the one that makes the memories that last a lifetime.

Missed that first time around 'Fish...... I suggested something to the missus before she took the plastic off the mattress...I got the look and "it's too cold in here" I got the furnace fired up and things did heat up abit then!

Lol.... reminds me of a tractor suet feeder I picked up at TSC couple of weeks ago. .. it was green but quickly got a rattle of red before it got hung!

Ya I used a hyd press, and it took 3 passes to get it cut to depth. After the first pass you slide a shim, top pic, behind the broach and go again. If you need it to be deeper you put another shim behind and go again. Most keys are are two shims deep.

Nice herd of Horses.Drastic changes in temp creates all kinds of condensation.Couple of my buildings look like I hosed the inside out.Everything soaking wet,including the insulation in the ceiling.I'm ready for some constant warm weather.Problem is,in a few months,I'll be belly-aching that it's too hot.Oh well.Never happy.

Believe it not, I have no patience at all. Think it's more about determination with the challenge and enjoyment of doing it. The idea on this one is to represent as many different parts as I can get on there which are actual parts of the RJ. That wasn't the initial plan but once the build thread got started, that's what it is now. So determination becomes the drive to try and do it. Trying to duplicate parts to represent the actual shape and size is difficult but obviously not impossible. Some things just can't be scaled because the wood can only get so thin to still maintain some strength. Which is why the front axle has gone on yet, the spindle tubes on the ends of the axle are looking to big because of trying to have the spindles steer. The small size allows for more little imperfections but it does make some of the small parts and details more difficult. It could've saved about 10-15 hours alone just by skipping all the drive pulley stuff and making a solid wood belt guard. That area would basically have the same appearance once it's all together, but under close up examination is where a real round hood Wheel Horse collector will have a greater appreciation for it. It'll take a while for someone to notice all of those little things but that's kind of stuff that's going to make this one stand out from any other toy model.

lengerichka88, as you are aware, today's " yard tractors " are total junk, people simply cannot relate to something made with steel and designed to last. keeping these tractors alive is the way to go. i have a couple of cul de sac,s housing up the road, i often use them for , longer road testing my horses. i do this when everyone has gone to work , giving me empty roads all the way. i too get the stares and questions , like what is that thing? another benefit of a longer road test, is that my horses , transform into a much easier running unit. i always take the time to use all my gearing on an empty road, allowing the oil to heat up and giving you the opportunity to change heated gear oil. thanks for the pictures, pete

I order a lot of different Ford factory parts through them because of their prices. I own quite a few different cars and trucks and they generally have the parts I need, sometimes they even have them cheaper than what I can get with my dealership employee discount. I have had nothing but a great experience dealing with them, and they ship really fast too.

I've ordered from them and had good results so far. Same thing, in tank fuel pump and sending unit was much less expensive than brick and mortar stores. Also ordered 4 rotors and brake pads for less than the cost of 2 rotors at Autozone.

Now comes the hard part fellas... gettin it set up the way you like! Hopefully the weather will cooperate for such matters!

Probably worked with thousands of wood species throughout my life, but knotty pine and white pine are my favorites. Big portion of my place done with knotty pine.

Look for the axle bracket to mount the plow.

Certainly not perfect missed a tiny bit at one end but it is nice an tight. Had to sand just a bit off the new key it sat a little proud. I have a bucket with several axles with messed up keyways. The brass key didn't seem to be affected so I can reuse it...at least for the older axles that used the #15 key. May ave to look into the broach set mentioned as I have a bunch of messed up hubs. Now I have to weld up the parking pawl and put in a new spring as you can see the original is heavily grooved (but it worked OK)
