4 pointsFinally found time to get over to OβQinn trailer and look at their trailers. When I got there, I knew I recognized the salesman, but couldnβt place him. Finally realized it was Danny OβQuinn who used to drive for Jack Rousch a few years ago. Nicest guy youβll ever meet. I ended up getting a tube top 76βx16β. Really nice trailer, but it didnβt have the heavy duty gate. I didnβt want to pay $600 more for the same trailer to get a heavy gate. So, I just made my first mod - reinforced the gate by boxing two uprights and adding cross braces for ramps. Most of my welds looked like bird turds since it has been so long since I did that much welding. Finally started making decent looking welds when I was almost done. Last pic is the before of the gate. A few more mods yet to come. Iβll post more on them in the days to come. The trailer hit me at $1895 with another $149 for the toolbox. Pretty fair price for what I got I think. Time to wash the welding stink off!!

4 pointsYou're still pretty new around here and as you have already seen/encountered/found out these horses have some --- peculiarities? There are a handful of difficult things on the various models, but to my thinking, removing steering wheels and axle hubs have to be the PITS!!

4 pointsJust wondering if it's just my luck or others also. Last spring I had the deck on my 12 Automatic rebuilt and new blades installed. The second time mowing with it along the road, hidden in the leaves was a huge ratchet strap ratchet I guess fell off a truck. Needless to says I found it or rather the blades did, but not before it took a huge chunk out of the right side blade. Today I put a brand new chain on my chain saw and sure enough on the second pass through the log I hit a rock that was on the other side of the log. Saw the sparks, but way to late. Just couldn't be the old blades or the old worn out chain. Is it only me or what? Gary

3 pointsSo I am looking for opinions on this particular machine. Any pros or cons and anything specific to watch out for. The photos are of the one i will be looking at. The owner says deck is solid, just primed were paint peeled and started to rust. Has a extra set of new spindles, pulleys, and belts. Also comes with a snowblade, tire chains and weights. It runs and drives and no smoke or leaks he says.

3 pointsThis morning I turned the motor over and found out there are four holes with threads on the bottom so I rotated the motor on the frame and bolted it back down . Everything lined up !

3 pointsSo I been needing a light for over my computer for awhile now. Didn't really need anything super bright, so I figured I'd just build a little light. Well this is what I came up with. Just got to finish placing the wire. I wet sanded the hood and clear coated it. Also this hood was smashed and rusted through on the other side, so I didn't cut up a good hood, I do have a conscience when it comes to rusty history.

3 pointsThey have a tendency to rust-weld themselves to the steering shaft. I've likely got that aluminum piece around if you want one. Yours for the price of the freight.

3 pointsI've an old Wheel Horse sweeper that's seen a lot of use and abuse. I use it to sweep the village green and verges, which are not what you would call flat. Only things to be replaced are the plastic castor wheels. Made some out of oak.

3 pointsAt our old house across the road an abandoned rail line that I decided to mow the grass some distance up the line for my other half to walk the dog. From an old long ago removed telephone pole found an old pole anchor burred in the ground with about four inchs protruding above ground hidden in the tall grass. Broke a spindle. My father was a logger and he taught me not to cut into the ground. When I was around five years old had pounded a large spike into the side of our chopping block. One day he had spent sharpening chains and tuned up one of his saws when he decided to take a slice off of the old chopping block the next thing to come of was a belt and some of my hide. He found the spike and I've never forgotten the lesson.

3 pointsI saw this as a young child, probably 5 or 6 years old. We would have to go and catch a chicken and hold it while the farmer whose family babysat us during the summer, chopped off its head. We would then watch it as ran around squirting blood until it finally died. Then its body would be plunged into a bucket of boiling water and we'd have to pluck it, then gutted. Finally baked and on the table for lunch. Because of this 60 years later I'm, yet, tramatized!

3 pointsMud season is here. Time to swap out turfs and chains for AGs on the L-107. Switched her to Studs and Lugs a couple years ago . Change over is almost as fast as a NASCAR pit stop. So much easier!!!!

2 pointsHello everyone, new owner of a wheel horse 314 hydro here. Just picked it up today and it looks to be in great shape came with snow plow,front weight and bri let plow and disc. This is my first wheel horse and am hoping for a little guidance on keeping it up . Any thoughts or tips are greatly appreciated. I'd love to find Manuals for it. it's a model 73401, s/n 3900307. Thanks in advance.

2 pointsSure you could, or I'd simply embed a nut into it before it cures... then, to keep sanding to a minimum just smooth it out with a wetted finger tip like Denny did with his steering wheel repair.

2 pointsLooks to be in very nice condition and that is a genuine garden tractor capable of all the ground engaging attachments. You probably want to pull those engine covers off and clean out the debris. The intake for the blower looks to have debris in it which is a sign there's probably more inside. That will create a problem with cooling the engine so best to have a look. Edit. I can see it around the starter as well, definitely pull off those engine tins and clean it out

2 pointsToday, the first sunny day for a long while, was useful to work outside.π So while some Material for FEL is still missing, i do some more Measurements with templates. Think i will rework my Idea, because i got a R.O.P.S. for rear mounting. It was a very simple Bow with a Mounting hitch, that weight about 30-40Kg. To take Care of my Back, my little Workhorse is used to Lift the Parts in Place with his FEL, what a lovely thing to have. So first i painted it a bit but with a different color i allready have, just to hide some scratches. After that, i rework the complete Electric and improove it with some fuses. Original there was just 2 Fuses used, an Issue, i want not dealing with. Installed Warning flasher and a Connector for trailer use. 2 New Frontlights (position lights and Flash lights combined) are required to become Road Legal. At now on, all Wires for Lights and Flashers are fused separately Even ignition and a separate 15Amp fuse for the Hazard lights. Also a inwire Mainfuse (50A ) brings me now more safety, to protect the whole Electric for shorts. I hate to see loosen unbound Cables, so i build allmost a new Wireharness. The actual only unfused Cable is the Main Starter Wire itself. Then i added a Switch for the Hazard Lights. The red cable right behind Battery was the C2 line for Contollight by Trailer use, what is actual not connected, have tomorrow find a nice place, where i put the controllight in. Also the brown "ground steal cable" will be tomorrow reworked- that's a nogo.π± All in all i removed 1,2meter senseless Plus Wire, what was routed nearly thru the half tractor unfused... ππ€ Finally i found a 1m x 0,8m square Aluminum 2mm thick in my Barn, what seem perfect for a small Roof. Ok, it looks a bit strange but it seems useful. aaah, you wanna Pics, ok here you are... But don't laugh... My Wheelhorse behind "under cover" So far a good day, lot of things are done, tomorrow i hope the Weather is also fine, that i can finish the Electric.

2 pointsThat's mighty nice of you. Thanks! At first I thought there's supposed to be a 1" wide tab at the top/center for the wingnut-type fastener to go through. I thought mine was broke off, but after looking at it more closely I think that area's OK. However - Not visible in the first photo is an area I'm unsure of whether it's a piece broken off or not. Please see new photo below. I'll see if I can get the steering wheel to budge & we'll go from there since now I know there's a possibility it can be welded IF I can find someone around here that's good enough. Thank you. That's good to know. If I can salvage this one, I will - that way I won't have to pull from the limited surplus. I'll definitely donate this one if I have to replace it. The gash in the upper/left corner of the aluminum housing - is it supposed to be like that? It appears to me that it's broken out due to the roughness. And for future reference - Where, what section, should I have posted my question about this? I feel bad about going off topic here. I'm sorry! 2 pointsCheck the Spec number on the engine. If it is 24300 or higher it is the better Series II. A lower spec number is a Series I. The less than stellar track record of that engine would be grounds for negotiating a lower price. If it it were me I would buy it with either engine as long as it ran OK but hey if I could get him to knock a couple bucks on a a Series I why not....

2 pointsThose cast aluminum dash housings can be welded easily with the right frequency and ac balance on a tig, or even a dc spool gun machine. That wear point is typical of those 60's era tractors and really not that much of an issue. Mostly due to the frame flexing when working the tractor hard - or the rear frame plate where the rear axle is attached has been cracked/broken. Either have it welded or replace it - but I'd hang onto the old one as these parts are starting to dry up, repairable parts are our future around here. Sarge

2 points@Chris G I say go buy that C-175 before someone else. get"s wind of it . @AMC RULES I turned on the tv to watch the news with a cup of coffee and stumbled on your videos, not that there is anything good on there other than the weather to plan the day, that C175 twin auto is like a mini D-8 Caterpillar in action.My first WH brochure I picked up is a 1981 Premier edition with Jackie Stewart as the pitchman, always wanted that model but the dealer that all of my tractors originated from be it new or used other than the 520-H are all 8- speeds,He was never a fan of the Hydros, in fact he always drove manual trans pickups because he did not trust the autos, long story short there were never any Hydros in the area to collect. Thanks for the Saturday morning entertainment .
