Finally got a little seat time. Just didn’t last long enough.

I finally got this thing back on 4 wheels and am getting closer to having it back together and ready for paint. A while back I made a stainless exhaust pipe and shortened it a little to move the muffler a little closer to the heat shield. No real reason other than I like the look of the shorter pipe.

My original gas tank filler neck was not in very good shape and a member here was kind enough to send me a new one that he had. I got it soldered in today. Thank you Cas!

I have not yet visited that site but will do so this year. The events of that day changed my life forever. I was one of the lucky ones for we did a lot of work in both Towers and just the day before I was in tower one in an Architects office for a good part of the day. Was supposed to go back that day but an unexpected situation took me to Pennsylvania instead. It took over 12 hours that day for my family and employer to find out where I was. Since I had full freedom of schedule and movement, I never let anyone know where I was headed that day. Sure enough all communications were down and I couldn't call anyone. They all assumed I was there since that was where I was scheduled to be. Since most radio stations in this area were broadcasted from NYC, many from antennas in those buildings I was not even aware of what was happening since there was no radio transmission and I was driving while this was happening. I was in and out of those buildings since I was 20 years old. I could see them from my house since I am less than10 miles from NYC. I recommend that if anyone comes to this area to go visit the 911 Memorial and Museum at the site. It is a moving and befitting Memorial to all that perished there. I have been there dozens of times and shed tears each time for it all was so dear to me. With advance notice I will personally take any and all of you to it if you so wish.

a 1957 bolens super ride a matic. why is it super? because it has the k160 in it not the k90. I purchased this a few years ago been always wanting any early bolens. I bought basically sight unseen by a few photos. a friend of a friend etc.. had it and we purchased a few tractors that day. I was committed to buy it and as soon as I saw it I knew I was in trouble. I have a tendency to buy the worst possible project tractors and this definitely is one of them. once I got it home I cleaned did a really good inventory of what I needed, partially dissassemmbled it for storage and searched for parts which is a nightmare for one of these. the k160 is in great shape however it needs a coil, a rare bendix style $$$!. the biggest hurdle is the missing belt guard which are non existent. a true 57 style would be near impossible to repro without certain skills and stamping skills. I designed a simple style one more of the looks of a 58 but will work on mine. which i decided now it's time to start on. this week I reassembled it decided it's time to start again getting this project going. I love a challenge this definitely one.

Hey Jim @WHX22 how da’ya like this power venter? We’ve replaced the pilot trying to get enough millivolts to run the valve, but the draft is too weak to sustain even a pilot. Today’s fix... a Bradford White light duty commercial electric water heater. I’ll wire it to run non-simultaneous and we’ll never have a draft issue again.

some more done Needed a longer piece for the frame rails. The square section tapers to round and if too much of the round section is used, it looks funny and leaves voids. Here's joining 2 pieces which is kind of a pain in the ---- but needed to be done for both rails. Drilled some holes in the hood

I had occasion to watch this movie last evening. It is a chilling reminder of the determination of these suicidal terrorists and how quickly our lives can be changed. And for you guys traveling through SW Pa on your way to the Big Show in June, I also recommend a visit to the Flight 93 memorial at the crash site in Shanksville, Pa. It could also be a day trip for anyone staying in Gettysburg. It's probably a 2 hour drive. I will caution you, a visit to the memorial and listening to some of the final calls made by the passengers to their loved ones is a somber experience. https://www.nps.gov/flni/

Plowing is indeed a lot more fun than muscling that blower around or being muscled by it. Others may chime in with something different but I just keep my tires at the regular recommended pressure which is about 10 to 12 for the back and about 20 for the front, a little depending on the different type tires. Actually sometimes if chains get a little sloppy I increase pressure to fix that. I plow a extremely steep pavers block driveway and it works for me. Next to chains weight is really the most important factor when it comes to traction.

Wife took this as the moon was rising. It was so bright you almost needed shades . It was between 2:30 - 4:30am when I heard this chattering weird noise that woke me up and it was getting louder and louder. I thought someone was in living room watching TV so yelled out to turn it down. Then I realized what it was....a pack of coyotes running across the field right behind the house . The sound just faded away then my dogs started in . The local hillbillies used to hunt them with dogs until the packs got to big and started running down their dogs . Now they're just out of control even going into town .

I made some guides to replace the Toro 25-5450 parts on the tall chute snowblowers. If there is interest, I'll list them in the classified section for $40 per set of three, postage included. I made these sets from ABS, Acetal and Nylon, they all seem equally strong.

I am not sure that in my case they can actually be called hobbies because not only they are intrinsically connected to my profession and life passion. Its more like a way of life. But then wheel horses really fall into the same description. I am a woodworker so pretty much my so called hobbies have to do with it, whether it is tool collecting, tool making , house work, etc. Its kind of hard to separate pleasure and work around here. Here are a few samples; Some that I made; Some of the Stanley 45 collection; Some prized ones; They are all over; Some of the tool results; Oxen Yoke Front Back

sounds like a fuel issue, last time you used fuel additive? or cleaned the carb jets? ever use SEAFOAM? gas treatment . usually a fuel / jet issue shows itself under load , like you have. you also might check your safety interlocks, I had some bad fuses causing issues, replaced fuses , used dielectric grease at contact points. those jets are easy to clean out with bread wrapper twist tye wire. just some ideas that have worked for me , good luck ,pete

If you go on eBay you will always find guys with NOS Autolites non resistor/ copper core in substantial quantities. That is how I get them. This way they are really inexpensive and every other year I change them anyway as a maintenance item.I also favor stuff built a long time ago to a newly manufactured one. I now have a twin cylinder Onan but have not yet researched what plug to use from Autolite. Here is what I use for engines I have K91, K90,H50,H55,H60----------------------AUTO-LITE 455 K141,K161,K181, H80 ON UP-------------AUTO-LITE 295 K241,301,321,341----------------------------AUTO -LITE 216 All magneto engines .25 gap All battery ignition .35 gap

Thanks for sharing your personal experience. Most of us see so much violence on the medias, I'm afraid we become immune and don't feel it affects us. These personal reports, visiting the sites, and listening to those heart wrenching last phone calls of the victims really makes it real. I know it would not pass muster, but I feel a visit to one of these sites should be a mandatory class trip for all our high school students.

A friend of mine works for the airlines and pieces these together for investigation. I've heard some of his gruesome stories. These people (terrorists) need to be stopped! God bless us all!

My wife and I watched the movie about a year ago. It was a good reminder of this sobering event, yet the true american spirit of those passengers rose to the call to stop an evil wrong. They knew their lives were about to end and while they could of sat cuddled and scared they fought to save others lives. When we were in New Jersey for my sons wedding in October we also visited the New Jersey, Empty Sky Memorial in Liberty Park at the mouth of Hudson River across from the World Trade Center site. Seeing all the names of just the people from new Jersey that lost there lives was also very somber. Thanks for the reminder Ed, I will put the crash site on my travel list.

I totally agree that we are all so exposed to so much violence and negativity through all the means now available to us that we are becoming desensitized to all of it . It is just normal routine and therefor accepted as normal when it should not be. I also agree as you said that a class trip to such a site should be mandatory. After all, trips are taken to many sites to appreciate and celebrate mankind's achievements and great works. Why not also expose them to the not so great achievements. Undoubtedly the indescribable and undeniable emotional effect this place would have on them would serve them well for the rest of their lives. We shelter our children too much and that will just make them commit the same mistakes we did or make them insensitive to these occurrences. After all of these years I have never been there once without seeing several people (family members) off to the side or by a name sobbing and placing flowers next to it. Perhaps to the casual visitor they go unnoticed but to me they are upfront all the time. It is at that young age that they should be exposed to it otherwise later in life they will treat it like many do now as just another tourist stop. It is definitely not that.

After weird problems with Champions and extensively reading through Brian Millers site I switched to Autolite a long time ago. Seems like all the weird stuff that was happening even with new plugs just disappeared to the point that I rarely even think about plugs at all.

For the asking price you can’t lose money on it even if it’s not worth fixing. That said if you “need” this as your work tractor or you have no desire to part it out you may be more picky. We are in the same boat and I took the leap last weekend. If nothing else it gets me out in the garage with dirty hands.

I use champions as I know a few fellas here are not fond of them 167-0272 is the Onan P/N which converts to a Champion RS17YX. From there you should be able to cross it to your favorite brand.

Good answers by several people. If it was running at the time, the C-145 probably blew the fuse that goes from the battery (via the solenoid) to ignition switch "B" terminal of your ignition switch. The 310 probably didn't suffer any damage at all.

Take the top off of carb and THOROUGHLY clean it out with carb cleaner and air blast. Caution on this needle valve.. Befor you take the top off, get a few pics of how all the linkages and such fit together.

A small steam box might come in handy for bending those picks into tire ribs, this is the neatest steam box idea I've seen yet. As a kid the river was not far from my home and would often go down and watch the shipwrights at work, they used a long wooden box to steam the wood for bending into shapes they wanted.
