I did a bit more wiring Sunday morning. Installed the voltmeter and voltage regulator. I ran extra ground wires from the condenser, voltmeter, and voltage regulator direct to the battery. A little extra insurance where there's so much new paint. Trina put the rest of the sheet metal on. We'll pop them back off to change the engine pulley at some point but we have all the nuts/bolts found and wire brushed now. We used some wet/dry sandpaper for step gripper.

We had a nice little thaw this past week and that made for some nice little ruts in the driveway. We have another significant snow storm coming in 2 days so I decided to scrape down the driveway a little bit. I would like to say thanks again to @Herder Adam for getting this grader and sending it to me. I assembled the grader using the owner's manual. Removed the snow plow from the 1267. Hung the grader under that and off I went..... Here's a few pics of the grader and tractor and a before and after of the driveway.

No, not these. The broiler element in Mrs K's oven died on Tue. So, I found some model numbers and ordered one from the Jungle.....not bad, $22 and free 2 day delivery. Pulled the breaker, got some tools and pulled out the old element. Wed, Mrs K needed the stove to make a kettle of soup, so I taped up the element leads and turned on the breaker. The oven door was still open holding my tools. Me.. Do you need the oven? Mrs K...No, just the burner. Me....OK, I'll just put my tools in the oven until I get the element tomorrow. I go to my weekly Wed. night Pinochle game. Yep, you guessed right. She decided to warm up a slice of left over pizza for her dinner and turned on the oven to preheat and sure enough, she was " Grilling Tools". My new Milwaukee head lamp. Still works, but the band curled up and half the mounting clip melted away. My B&D screw gun. Still runs, but the reversing switch was melted to the case. My Dewalt driver bit case now has nice steak grill marks. Luckily, every thing was cooked medium and not well done.

When that ammeter needle is shaking, that reads the engine is running. What do you mean useless?

I refurbished this 312-8 about 4 years ago and gave it to my oldest son when he bought a house. He's been busy building "Phase 1" of a playscape around a large tree in his backyard. today we took my 4x8 trailer and got a load of granite sand from a sandbar at a road crossing of a nearby creek. The WH 312 worked great to maneuver the loaded trailer into the backyard to put the sand into the base of the new playscape. Of course my Grandson loved riding the trailer and gets many tractor rides from his dad! I build that 4x8 trailer in 1981 out of scrap from a large coal power plant construction job. It's still going strong

A non operational charging system can still read over 12 volts. An ammeter will show a negative reading. An ammeter will show a parasitic battery drain with the key off. An ammeter will show charging current and that the regulator is working correctly as the battery voltage increases. An ammeter will aid in locating a short in An electrical system. An ammeter is not useless.

Well, let's see here. I was brought into WH's when I was about 3 years old, my Grandfather had a '68 Electro 12. He lived in MA at the time, and the few times a year I would visit, he would take me for rides 'round the yard, till I was old enough to drive on my own for the first time .. put it into a large bush at about 4mph. When I was about 8 or 9, the ignition switch broke and no shop claimed they could fix it (Looking back, I find that remark hilarious). So my grandfather bought a new Scotts and retired it to the shed. When he moved up to Maine with the rest of my family, he brought the old E12, but left all the implements for scrap. It sat in the yard for years after that. Somehow it didn't get much worse then it already was. In the meantime, I had a visit to a local museum, and was introduced to hit and miss engines. When I was 10, I bought myself one. Around the time I was 12-13 or so I got myself a '67 Cub Cadet 102 for riding at shows, but wanting the E12 running never left me though it was in a really poor state, grown into brambles in the yard. I spent years on and off trying to get it going to no avail. Turns out the mag was dead. One night it came to me, that the magneto fired K301 in the Electro was the same engine otherwise as the Battery fired K241 in the IH Cub. I went home one day and tore the IH to bits (Parents weren't too proud of this..) and hauled the parts up to my grandfathers, reassembled it as it was on the Cub, and the machine fired right up and drove into the garage. Kept it in somewhat regular use till 2016 when it developed a crack in the block and also seemed to have broke a ring. After that it was too weak to really move and the smoke to this day has been unmatched. From that point when I got it running in 2012, I got a lead on a 1975 WH B80 from a local man. I saved that from the crusher and got it going enough to ride around. It was torn down for overhaul but I was really too young at the time to do much with it. This later became @ebinmaine 's Patriot Horse. Between 2013 and 17 I've probably had about twenty other WH's come and go. The old '68 E12 has since been repowered with a K-341 from a C160 and that smartened it up just enough to have the rear end let go. She's still here, patiently awaiting the last of a mechanical rebuild.

As most of you are aware we just started using implements here on our acreage only in the past 3 months since we decided to try a plow for snow. I've read multiple times about how quick and easy it is thanks to the Pond family to change implements from one to another. Remove Dozer / snow plow. Four pins, two levers, one bolt. Install mid-mount grader. Two pins. Now all that said. That absolutely DOES NOT MEAN that I have any intention of swapping implements because I fully believe that we should all be allowed ONE TRACTOR PER IMPLEMENT, minimum.

It was way off 'fish ....and no way to recalibrate. Mums the word tho ..it woulda cost me tractor for a new stove. No pics tho, the meter vibrated itself off a shelf above the air compressor and committed suicide. Now Ed you know dang well you have all the sympathy from us in the world....just as soon as our bellies quit hurting! If it helps I get a pretty good contractor discount on Milwaukee stuff.. lemme know what you need!

I am a simple type. Bad Voltmeter is an irritant. Failed ammeter is a dead tractor.....

Your best bet is to take the engine apart and take the block and crankshaft to an engine machine shop. They will let you know what may need to be done. Without the proper precision measuring equipment and the skill to use them properly you could waste money on parts that won't give you satisfactory performance.

Mrs Rules would never give me something like that, knows darn well I'd parlay that little episode into another(new) tractor.

It has 25 x 900 x 12 All Trails II on the rear with the rear fender gas tank and the fender bracket raised 1 3/4" The 400 x 8 Tri ribs on 3" wide wheels with the long front spindles for 6" wheels. They have been reinforced. Cree 24 watt Led flange mount lights. A Harbor Fright winch in a receiver hitch on back. I also added a 1/2" spacer under the front seat hinge as I didn't like the angle of the new seat. The steering wheel has been raise 3". 80 lbs. of wheel weight in each rear wheel. And the frame brace.

Mike the fellow from Alberta from whom I had purchased my Allis 720 from was given a Sears SS16 tractor with a snow blower, belly mower, wheel weights and chains just for hauling it away from a small acreage the previous owner had recently sold. The 16 horse power Onan was missing a carburetor, Mike phoned me asking if I had a carb, which I did not have for that particular engine but had mailed him a similar side draft that I had salvaged from some unknown twin someone had discarded at the landfill. Mike is not Internet savvy but after telling him each time he called that this carburetor he was seeking told him that it would not be all that uncommon and readily found on eBay, if he were a neighbor would have gladly purchased one from my account, anyhow a year or so later Mike has his nephew do the deed. He now has the proper carburetor that also came attached to the intake manifold. Another vintage tractor saved from the scrap heap. Borrowed this image

Kevin, I'm sorry you have to endure the torture of the blue oval (at least an honest car company they have circled every mistake made since the first one) all kidding aside good luck on your next project, I lucked into my C30 that they had already done a majority of the "rustification" work, new floor pans rockers and doors, most of the mechanicals were OK, just a few piddly issues for now.

Don't give him any sympathy John....I didn't get any for my screw up.

I woulda thought the ground was frozen solid?? Mid mount use is a summertime sport only around here. It is amazing how well they work. Not one shovel was hurt in the making of this driveway!

Hey, I just tore a cylinder in half this morning for one of my back wings... it had about 5 hrs use on it! Lessons learned.... yep everything breaks sooner or later! Also, I picked up 6 grade-2 bolts to put one on each cylinder as a shear pin. 8 bucks for 6 bolts is a lot cheaper than new cylinders!

Got a 246-H headlight bezel from A-Ztractor After several tests and adjustments to the template I have been able to complete the 1990 246 hood sets. Even though the vertical shaft tractors are not popular for restoring I have had a few requests. This is everything I have for the 246-H so far

well gents...living in east central WI you never quite know what a winter will bring you! Last year we only had a couple of snows that were deep enough to even bring out the snow removal equipment until the big one on tax day (over 24” in one day!). This year however, we’ve been getting more of the slop. I have used the one/two punch of the 523D for the deeper stuff and my Cub Diesel with the blade for the shallower wetter stuff. I got home from church last night and had to clear the 4-5” that we had received throughout the day. According to the news we will be in a winter storm warning starting at Midnight tonight through 6am Wednesday and we could get anywhere from 8”to 15”. The Deuce is ready!

Great Idea, wish more would do that.

I should keep my impact sockets in the oven. They get condensation on them and rust with the weather changes!

I got my 312 Horse out and we trimmed some bushes. Had the Toyota and trailer out too just to haul them away. Finished up with the C-120/180 and small trailer to finish cleaning up. You just can't beat an electric pole saw for cleaning up overgrown bushes. I went some what GREEN, but I used a 10 HP generator to power the pole saw then used a electric chainsaw at the ground.

So I said to my Honey I was thinking about trying to draw out the word KOHLER on the side of the engine. We talked about a couple different ways to go about doing it and then she took some cinnamon paint and a brush and...

Mike, that is a steam boiler, not an oven! I worked on those things years back.
