So the other day I posted about loosing seat time to my oldest son Aiden who is 9. He plowed a bunch of my parents yard with my 753. Well after seeing that post @ebinmaine generously gave him a plow that I was picking up in New York for him along with a rolling chasis and a snow thrower for myself from @Herder. Well when Aiden got home this afternoon from ice fishing he wanted me to install the plow so he could use it. For the time being it is on my Bronco 14 but once I fix the engine on his 1277 it will be mounted to that. I have wheel weights I am gonna install on it this week since he is so light (I don't have that problem) This summer I hope we can work together cleaning it up and painting it. As of right now tho he is one happy kid. He would still be out plowing in the yard if we didn't have a super bowl party to go to. @ebinmaine thanks so much from Aiden and I since I can now get seat time again! I threw a picture of his 1277 in for good measure.

I would think, at the very least...we should be able to repair a bunch of roads with that kind of money, or maybe provide some clean drinking water...I know, how 'bout a little health care for those in need here in this country. I know...that's just crazy talk!!! WHO'S READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!

My buddy Joe came up today to help me fix the FWD and steering box on my John Deere loader today. He brought his son Clay with him. Emory and Clay are in scouts together. I asked Joe if Clay could ride Emory’s lawn ranger and he said sure. Clay hadn’t ridden a tractor by himself before. Joe couldn’t even get him to ride his Farmall with him. To our surprise he jumped on and took right off! He had a ball. Now he says he wants a tractor if his own. Even Joe said he needs one! I had to go get the truck and oil with the C125. Last few pics show what I found when I came back. Those boys were so sweet!

You’re very generous Eric @ebinmaine. Its nice to see RedSquare members helping out other members and inspiring our Jr. Members.

I'd have to agree that that is muy importante... Trina has two tractors here in Maine already and another one waiting in Massachusetts thanks to @Herder and @WHGuy413. Who knows how many we will end up with in the permanent Fleet but she really does enjoy taking them apart and putting them back together.

Heck I didn’t even know who was playing until last night so I’ll just quote KC9KAS Craig don’t even get me started with these corporations spending all this money on commercials and sponsorships . Can’t even watch TV without seeing a insurance company telling you how much money you can save or watch a game with their name plastered all over the stadium. How about cut their budgets by 90% and use that money to lower our rates and pass on the savings . I’m sure that money wouldn’t find its way back in the consumers pockets though. Sorry for for my rant and getting !

I am a supporter of freedom of speech and freedom of the press! BUT, when the press makes heroes of multimillionaire sports and movie star protesters and doesn't give more than lip service to our veterans who have protected those rights I am offended. That is one of the things I like best about NASCAR Racing, they include the playing of our National Anthem and every driver and team stands with hand over heart, including Danial Suarez, a Mexican citizen who is very respectful of the privileged this country has offered him.

Gentlemen...if I may, and I am not speaking for all veterans, but I am speaking as a veteran. I am also speaking as a union steward for more the 25 years...(IBEW). I will fight to the death, and I have, for anyone to be able to express their opinion. Most of us do not have a platform that we can use to protest social injustice, some do...ie, athletes, political people, film stars, etc. I have also fought for the right for any of you to disagree with what happens out there. It is that simple and it is that complex. I would take a knee to some of the social injustices that are going on...like separating kids from their parents. This is not the United States of America that we all know and love. What would you do, if some of the things that are going on upset you that much?? I would hope that you would find a way to protest. That's what makes us different from any other country...we can do that. If you do not like what is going on, that is fine also...but just know that veterans made it possible for you to express your opinion. You are entitled to your opinion...you are also entitled to keep it to yourself. Social injustice is real...I thank the people that are able to say something about it...even if it means their careers. You know how long I have been wanting to say that...1974

I didnt want to get to political with my comments. Frankly thats why I havent watched football either, same thing. This game is a treat, I liked football, NY Giants. But Kapernick killed it, than the rest of these high paid players followed along. Ok, I better stop, my blood pressure is going up. Glenn

They pretty much lost me over the nation anthem protest. I figure most of the players and 30 percent of Americans don't know the sacrifices that are given. Im not saying they don't have the right to protest, I just think that 2 minutes of the anthem is a sacred time reserved to honor those heros that fought and continue to fight for our freedom! I would surly not want to know what it would be like without our servicemen and veterans. I watch some but will not go out of my way to see a game.

Is the belt guard on. The guard is really your clutch...it funnels the slack toward the drive pulley when you step on the clutch pedal. The belt needs to stop in order to shift the transmission with out grinding. BTW...Welcome to Red Square.

I havent really watched football for the past 3 years. This is a treat today. And like many said, the money thing for the NFL is outrageous and crazy. Glenn

In my opinion the NFL and CBS are the winners. Outrageously high ticket prices and astronomical advertising costs will make them the big winner$!

Update on Scottie: Yesterday, we had Scottie's 6 week follow up appointment with his orthopedic team and surgeon. Going into this appointment, Lowell and I had several questions about Scottie's pelvis causing him pain and if he was going to be requiring surgery to fix his pelvis. Scottie had several x-rays done yesterday for his clavicle and shoulder, his elbow, and of his pelvis to see how he has progressed since the accident. Once his medical team had time to review the x-rays and compare them to the original ones that were taken the day of the accident, they came to see us. This is when Lowell and my questions about Scottie's pelvis and whether or not he will be requiring more surgery to fix his pelvis were answered. Scottie's x-rays showed new bone growth and calcification where it needs to be. Scottie will not be requiring surgery to fix his pelvis or his clavicle and shoulder. That is correct NO surgery to fix his pelvis or clavicle and shoulder. We found out that Scottie's pain is from his bladder and the two catheters that are in his bladder. As for Scottie's elbow, he will be requiring surgery to remove the three plates and screws 6 months to a year from initial surgery date. The reason for the removal of the hardware is because he has limited function of his right elbow and arm. We also were told that the next step in Scottie's recovery is to start physical therapy twice a week, to take all weight restrictions off of his upper and lower left extremity and to be off all pain medications in 6 weeks. We are glad to know that Scottie's fractures and breaks are healing according to plan. If we only had to worry about his fractures and his broken bones and nothing else, the plan set forth from his orthopedics team and surgeon would be wonderful but Scottie also has his bladder and urethra problem. Understanding the next orthopedic step for Scottie, I made a call to his urology medical team and informed them of the news and next step in his recovery per the orthopedic team. I was informed that we had to hold off of his physical therapy until his entire medical team can meet next week and discuss the best plan for Scottie and where we go from here. The reason for this meeting, is because Scottie had a major setback with the bladder infection and the catheter being blocked and requiring surgery to replace the two catheters, and that everything has been pushed back until he can be where he needs to be from the urology standpoint. Scottie is still experiencing pain from his bladder spasms and the two catheters. As long as he has the catheters in his bladder, he will continue to have pain associated with that because his bladder is attacking the catheters and wanting them out. He experiences bladder spasms frequently and when he gets one he has this painful build up of pressure and then he urinates around the urethral stent. In talking to the urology team, this all normal during a bladder spasm and that does not mean that urethra is connected to the bladder or that he will have full function of his bladder, it just means that his bladder is active. When he has a bladder spasm, he requires his pain medication until we can get his pain under control. Scottie has started homebound school and he works on his assignments (1-5 questions a day) until he gets a headache. Some days he don't do homework because he has a migraine from his traumatic brain injury. We are very fortunate that his teachers want him to get better and maintain his baseline and not worry about new material. Lately, Scottie has a loss of appetite because of the pain he has been experiencing. He is allowed to have protein shakes and whatever he would like to eat. Scottie loves his cards and packages he gets in the mail. He would like me to say thank you to everyone who has sent him cards and packages. He really lights up when I tell him that he has mail...he looks forward to that and not to his homework. There is the latest package Scottie received...thank you Karl!

Got outa work real early...(came home and got my chores done fast, installed new LED kitchen under-counter lights).... So I fired up my 656, or is it a 556 and headed into the woods. A bit cold at 21 degrees but something about tractor riding just warms ya up! Only 1”-2” of snow, stream crossing was froze up good meaning I didn’t break thru. No critters on this ride, just @Docwheelhorse Tony’s “woods art”.

I hope you do not mind some more winter trail ride pics Mike, anymore snow than this and it would not be happening, you definitley sparked my interest.I did have to pack the trail down with a heavier tractor first but the 417-8 did well with 3 solid blocks in the weight box and easy on the throttle to start out in second gear. This was today around noon. Thanks.

On accident would be my answer haha. My Father in law had mentioned wanting to do some small engine repair work to have something to do (he’s retired), and I found a WH on Facebook in decent shape, with a deck for 200 bucks. I sent him the link with a message saying “There’s a project to be had there.” I’d never heard of Wheel Horse, but once I did some digging and found out they were made here in Indiana, it piqued my interest. This was late August last year(2018). I started doing little things on it here and there, and eventually started looking for a dozer blade to push snow. I mentioned this to my FIL and he started looking for one as well. Enter our Charger 10, which we originally bought solely for the blade, but for a few bucks more than the going price we got another machine too. Now I don’t want to let either of them go, so I’m making sure they don’t go anywhere: I made an offer to my FIL for what he paid for both tractors, both decks, and the dozer blade plus 25 (it was his gas that got em here). He shook his head and counter offered. Usually the one coming out of pocket with the cash is the one trying to work the price down, but we agreed on $450 for the lot. I guess I qualify as a Horse Thief now 😂. I hope to have them around round for many years to come, and have plans for restomods for both, but we’ll cover that later haha.

The guys are pretty much got you straight on the '60s era Wheel Horses, but let's investigate further from then on. After the numbered series, i.e. 753, 854, 1267, etc., came the named series, i.e. Raider 10, Charger V8, Electro 12, GT-14, etc. The "V" in some names identified a vertical shaft tractor. The number in the name signified the engine horse power. Then came 1973, and the no name series. These were identified by 12 Automatic, 12 8 Speed, etc. As you may guess, the first number whether it be a 8, 10, 12, or.....was the horsepower and as you can also guess, the Automatic was for hydrostatic drive while the 8 speed speaks for itself. In 1974, came the letter series, A, B, C and D. The first few version of this had a "0" on the end, i.e B-80, B-100, C-120, C-160, etc. The first number or two, would be the horsepower, 8, 10, 12, etc. As I mentioned, the last number would be a zero indicating the 1974 to 1977 version which more or less had the fuel tank under the hood (exception would be the D series, which had the first two numbers as horsepower, but the fuel tank was behind the seat on most D models). Note: exception on the D-series as the D-250 had a 20 horsepower engine and was a considerably different animal from the D-160, D-180, and D-200 tractors. The B and C series also would identify rather they were hydrostatic or gear drive by having the words Automatic or 8 Speed on the end of the model nomenclature. In 1978, came the C-121, C-141. The B series also had a "1" on the end, but were now vertical shaft engine models, and totally different than the 1974 to 1977 B series tractors. Again, the letter would identify the series, i.e A, B, C or D and the first one or two numbers identify the horespower, i.e. C-81 was a C series 8 horsepower, while a C-101 was a C series 10 horsepower. The last number would be a "1". The C series now had the fuel tank underneath the fender deck and the engine would be iso mounted. As in the '74 to '77 tractors the word Automatic or 8 Speed would identify what drive train it had. 1980 came the C-105, C-125, etc. Hoods were now fiberglass as was the fender deck, and are now known as the Black Hood tractors. Everything as before is the same as reference to the numbering and lettering system, except now there was a "5" on the end. Hydrostatic drive tractors were still identified as Automatics and of course, the gear drives had 8 Speed in the name. Then came the 200, 300, 400 and 500 series. These are identified by having the first number identify the series and the next two numbers identify the horsepower. A 308 was a 300 series with a 8 horsepower engine, and a 416 was a 400 series with a 16 horsepower engine. If it was a hydrostatic drive tractor, either a "H" or an "A" was at the end of the number, i.e. 416H. Note: D series tractors had their model numbers the same throughout their run, regardless of what era they were made in, so they didn't follow the other series, i.e. C series which progress with the last number changing from a 0 to a 1 to a 5, i.e. C-120 became a C-121 in 1978 to a C-125 in 1980. A D-200 or a D-180, for instance, kept the same number on the end. As per Wheel Horse operating procedure, the above had exceptions, i.e Lawn Rangers don't fall into that mix, neither does the 500 Special. And I didn't get into the XI series nor the 240, 260 series. I have to be more knowledgeable than I am now to go into detail on those models. I know I missed some points, but the above describes Wheel Horse throughout the years in a condense way.

I plan to fully rebuild, all clutches and steels, torque converter and valve body solenoids. I’m also going to look for a “low fluid” sensor of some type, I have a feeling it was hurt about a week ago when a transmission cooling line broke. I was out of town and asked my back up to simply keep dumping fluid in and get the job done. Nobody’s fault, but my commitment to customers is what build a strong business. As for the fuel tank, the door simply rusted off a couple years ago!

Depends on how much the Patriots prepaid, I mean, prepared. This house always roots against Brady As far as the Anthem.... The best thing everyone can do is speak for themselves. If you’re a veteran who agrees with the protest and message, you’re not wrong. If you’re a veteran that doesn’t agree you’re not wrong either. If you’ve never served, it matters only if you agree or disagree based on the merits of the protest and reasoning behind it. We who served all raised our right hands and swore an oath. We have our own voices, and are each and everyone capable of choosing which battles we want to fight on our own as “Veterans”. The biggest issue I have is being used as a political talking point for either side, which is exactly what I feel like when this conversation is usually brought up.

In addition to the belt guard there should be an arm over the tension pulley that grabs the belt when the clutch is depressed and a device on the engine to keep slight contact with the belt when it is slack. These devices work with the belt guard to stop the belt.

Welcome to Red Square The correct belt for your 8 speed is WH7473 which is 5/8 x 82". Is that the size of the belt you got and is your new belt fabric wrapped. WH trannies are very sensitive to the type and size of belt. The "adjustment" I believe you are looking at only moves the position of the clutch pedal .

Think I am near the end of this project now, apart from sorting teething problems out. During runs at last years shows, the clutch to gearbox drive chain kept locking up. The original chain tensioner wasn't up to the job. This has now been changed but not yet tested. Fingers crossed. There is still too much free play in some of the steering joints. Still working on how to overcome this. Mark ( meadowfield ) made up the decals. Thanks Mark. Couldn't get good photo's in my garage. Too many reflections etc with or without flash which also shows up dust specs. Need to retake in daylight, as and when. Dummy light and ignition switches were fitted but think the key could be slightly larger. A few more taken at the shows. And the almost finished trailer. Finally, the tractor needed someone to drive it while I just sat and enjoyed the scenery while being dragged behind. Hours of searching for a suitable size person resulted in nothing. As I wasn't allowed to borrow my 15 month old great grandson, ( he would have been cable tied on to stop him falling off ), the next best thing was to make something up. A head was obtained from China. Cheap as usual but a bit pink looking. His face was weathered, well he is a farm boy, using some of my old modelling paints which were well past the sell by date Some people say he is a little too brown, but he doe's get out in the sun a lot. An ice cream tub, wood, foam and tape were used to bring him to life. My great grandson donated some of his clothes. Calvin, that's his name, was knocked up in a hurry just before the shows, and had to make do with rough and ready gloves and hat until something better comes along. Here he is having fun and being followed by a Doc Brown ( from Back to the Future ) look a like. Don't all laugh at once. As said above, I think this just about wraps this project up, apart from a few modifications and better photo's of the decals. What next ? Watch this space. PS. Calvin had to wear sunglasses when looking at his passenger.
